The Miami Dolphins opened training camp last week after re-signing some of their own free agents this offseason and watching others depart for opportunities with different team, while there are still quite a few members of their 2025 roster waiting for another chance.
However, that list shrunk by one on Monday, as former Dolphins offensive lineman Kendall Lamm agreed to a deal with the Baltimore Ravens, according to The Athletic's Jeff Zrebiec.
Lamm, 34, joined the Dolphins in 2022 after stints with the Houston Texans, Cleveland Browns, Tennessee ***** ans and Detroit Lions. Three years later, he left for an offseason stay with the Philadelphia Eagles last year before re-signing with Mike McDaniel's team for their 2025 campaign.

The Baltimore Ravens signed veteran offensive tackle Kendall Lamm following a workout on Monday, per the NFL's daily transaction report, filling the roster spot vacated by Hakeem Adeniji's sudden retirement over the weekend.
Lamm, 34, is entering his 12th NFL season. He spent the last four in Miami with 46 total appearances, including 15 starts in 2023 and 2024. Last year, he appeared in 13 games, but played just seven snaps on offense and 52 on special teams.
Most of Lamm's pro experience came with the Texans between 2015 and 2018. He first signed in Houston as an undrafted free agent and made the 53-man roster as a rookie as the team's swing tackle. Interestingly, despite being our most targeted area to strengthen in the summer market, the right side of the pitch again yielded the most rewards as we built our attacks. Le Bris once again played Trai Hume in a pseudo-wing role on the right, as waves of attacks developed between Hume himself, Habib Diarra, Brian Brobbey and the ever-excellent Nordi Mukiele.
It was Nordi, of course, who claimed the only goal of the match, slamming a low shot past the (quite poor) Wrexham goalkeeper on 34 minutes. It finished off a wonderful move involving three of the four aforementioned players, as Hume neatly found Brobbey inside the box, who in turn played Mukiele through on goal with a sublime first touch.
It was a good demonstration of how we like to build attacks through fluid positioning and overlaps, even without the out-and-out right winger we so desperately want to recruit. It was also a timely reminder of Nordi's exceptional quality at right-back, perhaps further cementing that as his primary position for the upcoming season.
Contributing to that excellent play on the right were the individual performances of Habib Diarra and Brian Brobbey. I thought both gave fantastic accounts of themselves and demonstrated just how influential they can be, albeit in very different ways.
Brobbey's hold-up play and tenacity to bully defenders were on full display as he essentially tortured Dominic Hyam for the duration of his appearance, earning the defender a yellow card and somehow having a blatant foul – and potential penalty – waved away. The Atlanta Braves are reportedly acquiring starting pitcher Tyler Mahle from the San Francisco Giants for RHP Anthony Molina, per Robert Murray.
Mahle, 31, has started 18 games for the Giants this season. He heads to Atlanta with a 3-9 record and a 5.13 ERA. The Braves won't be counting on him to become their No. 2 starter, but the veteran arm should be able to eat innings down the stretch of the season to give the franchise an extra option and his teammates some extra rest.
Molina is a 24-year-old pitcher who has made only three appearances for the Braves this season. He saw a lot of work with the Colorado Rockies in his debut season in 2024. That year, he made 35 appearances but finished with a 1-1 record and a 6.79 ERA.
This is the second trade in as many nights that Atlanta has made for starting pitching depth. On Saturday night, the Braves picked up SP Bailey Falter and outfielder Lane Thomas from the Kansas City Royals.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino came under increasing fire from continental governing bodies on Saturday despite scrapping a widely-derided plan to allow private investment in the World Cup.
European football's governing body UEFA had led the opposition to the plan by threatening to boycott all FIFA competitions if it went ahead.
Although welcoming the withdrawal of the proposal, UEFA said that Infantino had lost their "confidence" and that of other members of the football family with a "shabby, back room, opaque deal".
North and Central American football's governing body CONCACAF went further still and called for "a comprehensive reckoning with this presidency" while slamming Infantino's "poor governance and leadership".
Their responses came hours after Infantino had issued a statement announcing the humiliating climb-down after a furious backlash since the plan was first revealed on Tuesday.

At the All-Star Break's conclusion, I wrote on expectations, and their virtue as an exercise with this franchise towards a more hopeful future near and far. These Seattle Mariners, 3.0 games back of the AL West and the third Wild Card spot alike, have earned little and less belief. They've played poorly, wasted chances, and frittered opportunities to cleanse their palates. Much has rightly been made of the necessity for the core players to perform at or near the standards they've set for several years. But Seattle is giving up massive production on the fringes, and they've forced themselves into an uncomfortable, desperate position.
It is time for them to call up Michael Arroyo.
Seattle needs right-handed hitting, and with J.P. Crawford sidelined at least for several weeks, there is no easy solution at third base. Brendan Donovan returns on Tuesday to rotate around the field, but it's hard to look at the lineup as constructed and see anywhere for him to play more frequently than the hot corner. Arroyo has played some third base, but it's realistically not where he could be thrown in, although his defense is less egregious and more limited if asked to play second base or corner outfield. But they need his bat, because the Mariners need to take some risks, and rotating Weston Wilson, Victor Robles, Rob Refsnyder, Leo Rivas, and Mitch Garver through to take flaccid swing after flaccid swing is a Wile. E. Coyote kind of road that the Mariners have been slamming into the wall of all summer. The Rainiers' roster is stocked with similar players who've struggled to set themselves apart this year and over many years, from Connor Joe to Patrick Wisdom to Stuart Fairchild, along with injured options like Ryan Bliss and Brennen Davis. With Luke Raley seemingly ailing, the M's have to be more aggressive to rev up their offense before it's too late.

The 5'10, compact youngster has never been at the top of Seattle's prospect list, but has hit his way into top-100 status nationally over the past couple seasons, with an approach I first wrote about in the winter before the 2024 season. Could the Royals have had a much better final week of pre-season? It's hard to think so. Following victories against Woking last Saturday (0-2), Newport County on Tuesday (0-4) and Crawley Town on Friday (0-1), Reading made it four clean-sheet wins in four on Saturday afternoon by seeing off Charlton Athletic 0-3 at The Valley.
Lewis Wing was the star man, beginning and ending the scoring with a pair of excellent strikes. Perhaps Boyd Beacroft's halfway-line lob over the 'keeper at Crawley inspired Wing to go one better?
Either way, this was Wing at his very best. He gave the Royals the lead just before half-time when he slammed in a free-kick, later making absolutely certain of the result by curling the ball beautifully into the far top corner after getting a shot corner back from David Hicks.
Reece Evans will be having words about which goal was the highlight of the afternoon though. He opened his account for the first team to make it 2-0 in the second half, heading the ball powerfully past the 'keeper at the end of an incisive, fluent counter-attack. Hicks played a neat pass down the right and into the area for Kyreece Lisbie, who checked back onto his left foot and crossed cutely for Evans.
Even outside those goals though – and stop me if you've read this before about Reading's 2026 pre-season friendlies – the Royals looked confident and well structured. Inventive, energetic and dynamic, this was a display that simply wouldn't have happened last season.

Paige Bueckers and Angel Reese recently got caught up in a controversy involving a bet on the Dallas Wings vs the Atlanta Dream game on July 29. The official WNBA account posted a video of Bueckers and Reese betting $400 on the game. Reese flashed the cash as the duo made the friendly wager during the All-Star weekend.

A major scientific review is challenging the idea that more protein is always better.
The review, led by pathologist and biomedical researcher Dudley Lamming and published in the journal Cell Press Blue, examined more than 350 studies involving humans, mice, insects, yeast, and other organisms.
The review found that eating less protein, or less of certain amino acids that make up protein, may turn on body processes linked to healthier aging, as well as metabolism, the process by which the body turns food and drinks into energy.

Thursday's afternoon game between the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs can be described with two words: missed opportunities. Runners in scoring position not realized would be a problem for both the Cardianls and Cubs. Andre Pallante kept the Cubs relatively quiet, but would he get enough offensive support for a win? So many questions.
The St. Louis Cardinals were the first to score Thursday in the bottom of the 2nd inning when Lars Nootbaar and Masyn Winn drew one-out walks. That brought up Bryan Torres who singled to left scoring Nootbaar and giving the Cardinals an early 1-0 lead. That run would unfortunately be all St. Louis could manage in the bottom of the 2nd as Blaze Jordan and Nathan Church left runners in scoring position.
The Chicago Cubs tied the game in the top of the 4th inning when Alex Bregman slammed a one-out double. He would score when Lars Nootbaar forgot there was only one out when Ian Happ flew out to right allowing Bregman to score. File this under mistakes the St. Louis Cardinals cannot afford to make, but stuff happens and that tied the game at 1-1.

Conservationists defending a historic tree standing in the way of President Donald Trump's border wall in Arizona began staging a "tree sit" on July 29 to keep contractors from tearing down the towering cottonwood.
The cottonwood is the last of four hardwood trees from a species that's believed to have stood alongside the U.S.-Mexico border in Lochiel, Arizona, for between 100 and 200 years. Department of Homeland Security contractors tore down the first of the three trees on July 27.
Conservationists in the area have rallied around the remaining tree, slamming Homeland Security for not picking an alternative route that does not involve cutting down the trees.
The cottonwoods have provided people a shady gathering place for generations, conservationists say. And for local wildlife, the trees are essential for the area's diverse and rare species, including potentially the few jaguars that range into the United States.
"Destroying these ancient cottonwoods is a death sentence for an entire ecosystem," said Russ McSpadden, a conservation advocate at the Center for Biological Diversity, a nonprofit founded in 1989 focused on protecting endangered species. "These magnificent cottonwoods survived centuries, nourishing wildlife through floods and drought, only to be bulldozed for the Trump administration's disastrous border wall."

It's trade deadline season, and though this has been a tame deadline period so far, the continuous swirl of rumors and (eventually) actual transactions will be the focus of much of the baseball world in the coming days. Yesterday, we discussed which players the Yankees were most likely to move, and today, we ask: what weakness do the Yankees most need to address, and which one are they most likely to address?
The answer to this question has been fluid throughout the year. Early on, it seemed obvious to most that the Yankees would need to make big additions to their bullpen, yet here we are at the end of July, and the Yankee relief corps has the second-best ERA in the majors. Paul Blackburn has proven to be the second coming of Luke Weaver, Brent Headrick almost never allows runs, David Bednar has been the top-tier closer the team envisioned, and Matt Blake's latest reclamation project, Angel Chivilli, has looked dynamite since his most recent call-up. Add in the fact that players like Will Warren and Ryan Weathers (and perhaps Carlos Lagrange?) could get shifted to the bullpen if they're not traded, and the unit looks like an area of strength, not weakness.
At other times, the matter of the infield appeared to be most pressing. Ryan McMahon and Jazz Chisholm Jr. each got off to nightmarish starts, and the shortstop duo of Anthony Volpe and José Caballero has had its ups and downs. But even on the dirt, things don't look nearly as shaky as they did two or three months ago. Since seeing his OPS bottom out at .498 on April 22nd, Chisholm has played exactly as expected, with a .239/.309/.463 slash line and 16 homers plus 21 steals. McMahon has run a roughly .750 OPS over the last two months while bringing his usual quality defense at third base. And despite his penchant for high-profile miscues, Volpe's combination of high-OBP and good range at short has made him a valuable contributor.
Then, there's the most obvious need now, at catcher, with Yankee backstops having combined to "hit" .181/.261/.284. But even adding a catcher comes with major complications, as most teams are loath to make significant changes to their caching room midseason. For as awful as Austin Wells and Co. have been with the bat this year, a catcher's primary job is to catch, to field his position, to manage his pitching staff. The Yankee backstops have done that portion of their job with aplomb this year (it's probably not a coincidence that the Yankees prioritize defense at catcher and have the best team ERA in baseball), and it's not trivial to just add a plus bat to that room without shaking things up on the run-prevention front.
Add it all up, and it leaves the Yankee roster in a weird spot heading into a crucial deadline. The roster has been slammed by injuries and has some seemingly clear places to upgrade, but actually making those upgrades is less straightforward than it might appear. What do you think? It's been almost four weeks since Shohei Ohtani last pitched in a game, still managing the left knee inflammation that still isn't 100 percent. But that's not the only injury the Dodgers superstar is dealing with.
After Tuesday night's game, Ohtani revealed that his right bicep has also been bothering him. That was part of the reason that his planned bullpen session over the weekend in New York was scrapped.
"It started with the knee, and the bicep thing started when he took a swing — I don't know, three or four weeks ago. Then as we got to the break we wanted him to rest his knee, to rest his body and arm. Then as he started ramping back up, in the bullpen … it just wasn't responding. Nor was his knee," manager Dave Roberts told reporters Tuesday night, as shown on SportsNet LA. "There is an effect from the lower half to the compromising of the upper half. So trying to mitigate that, we stopped the throwing, stopped the bullpens, trying to take care of the knee and hopefully not try to create velocity with the arm that's not 100 percent."
Ken Rosenthal at The Athletic wrote about how Ohtani's injuries, which might prevent him from pitching in October (though the Dodgers insist his rest now is a precaution and that they expect him to pitch in the postseason), could increase the Dodgers likelihood to pursue Tarik Skubal before next Monday's trade deadline.

Seager is on the injured list for the third time this season, and has missed 52 games for Texas — one more than he has played for the AL West-leading Rangers. They are 24-28 without the two-time World Series MVP.
Seager went 1 for 2 with a walk and a strikeout against Corpus Christi, homering in the fifth before being replaced in the field after that inning. The top of the third ended when the shortstop made a backhanded stop in the hole and made a strong throw to first for the out.
His last game had been June 30 at Toronto, when he was removed in the first inning because of back discomfort. The rehab appearance came after Seager took live batting practice the previous two days before Rangers home games.
It wasn't immediately clear when he would rejoin the big league club.

FIFA announced Tuesday it was set to create a semi-private subsidiary which would sell part of its business operations in the World Cup and other competitions, hoping to raise $4.2 billion.
The plan would still have to be approved by the 38-member FIFA council and the majority of its 211 member **** ociations. FIFA said it intends to present the plans to the council soon.
Hans-Joachim Watzke, the DFB vice-president who is also president of Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund and a vice-president of UEFA's executive committee, joined the chorus critical of the proposal.
"Many in European football see FIFA's plans as an outright attack on football. I share this view. A line has been crossed here," Watzke told Germany's Kicker.

FRISCO, Texas (AP) — Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager hit a solo homer and made a nifty defensive play in a rehab appearance for Double-A Frisco on Tuesday night after being sidelined all this month because of lower back inflammation.
Seager is on the injured list for the third time this season, and has missed 52 games for Texas — one more than he has played for the AL West-leading Rangers. They are 24-28 without the two-time World Series MVP.
Seager went 1 for 2 with a walk and a strikeout against Corpus Christi, homering in the fifth before being replaced in the field after that inning. The top of the third ended when the shortstop made a backhanded stop in the hole and made a strong throw to first for the out.
His last game had been June 30 at Toronto, when he was removed in the first inning because of back discomfort. The rehab appearance came after Seager took live batting practice the previous two days before Rangers home games.
It wasn't immediately clear when he would rejoin the big league club.
