Who is a Commanders defensive player that is struggling in training camp?
Mitch Tischler of the Monumental Sports Network was a guest on "BMitch & Finlay" on 106.7 The Fan on Monday afternoon and volunteered the name of safety Quan Martin. Martin was the 47th overall selection of the 2023 NFL Draft, Ron Rivera's last as Commanders head coach and head of all player personnel decisions.
Martin was not playing well, not tackling well in 2025, and began to see his time on the field decrease late in the season. To be the 47th pick in the NFL draft and not be a starter in your fourth season does not speak well for the team's drafting ability in the previous administration. Even more, might Martin not even make the team? Might Quan Martin's days be numbered in Ashburn?
"Jeremy Reaves has been on the field much more than Quan," expressed Tischler. "We saw Quan's role change last year as the season went on and maybe didn't necessarily fit his play style as much. I feel like we are seeing a little bit of tentativeness from Quan, early on in camp here."
Also to be considered is the fact that the Commanders have a new defensive coordinator, Daronte Jones. This means the Commanders are learning a new defensive scheme, philosophy and language. Of course, that is true of almost all of the defensive players, not only Martin. "Part of that is learning what Daronte Jones wants that safety position to do. I think Quan's a guy that I was hoping early in camp would solidify that fourth safety spot and not have to have the conversation, if Percy Butler is going to stick around or Robert McDaniel, one of those guys."

The Oscar-winning actor and producer, 62, spoke about his relationship with alcohol in a new interview published Monday.
"No, I got—I was sober for seven years. And then I got back off the wagon," Pitt told Esquire. "In a more restrained manner. I got overconfident a couple times, went, Yep, nope, not good for me. Not in big quantities."
He added that he can "have a few" glasses of wine, saying, "But I can't have a lot. I have to be professional about it."
Pitt first cut out drinking in 2016 following his highly publicized split from Angelina Jolie, with whom he shares children Maddox, 24, Zahara, 21, Pax, 22, Shiloh, 20, Knox, 18, and Vivienne, 18.

As has been stated repeatedly throughout the offseason, the Baltimore Ravens are navigating unfamiliar territory. A franchise known for stability has undergone significant change in a relatively short period of time. Coordinators have departed. Jesse Minter became only the fourth head coach in franchise history.
New voices have been added throughout the building and on the roster, with veteran Calais Campbell among the most significant of the latter. He's certainly a great veteran pickup for a young defense with stars or stars in the making at every level. Much of the focus has naturally centered on how all of those changes are being received by the players expected to lead Baltimore's next chapter.
When Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry, Roquan Smith, Kyle Hamilton or Zay Flowers speak, people listen. Their opinions often become headlines because of their stature within the organization. Recently, however, one of the most telling endorsements came from a quieter voice. Running back Justice Hill may not command the same spotlight as some of Baltimore's biggest stars, but his perspective on new offensive coordinator Declan Doyle is worth noting.
Recently, he spoke with media members after a practice and complimented new offensive coordinator Declan Doyle, calling him "the most detail-oriented" offensive coordinator that he's worked with.
At first glance, the comment might sound like routine training camp praise. The context makes it far more interesting. Hill isn't comparing Doyle to an unknown list of ****** istants. During his seven seasons in Baltimore, he has played for Greg Roman and Todd Monken. Those are pretty detailed offensive minds in their own right.

Coordinator changes often create uncertainty. New play-callers bring new ideas, new tendencies, and sometimes entirely different visions for how an offense should operate. That may be one reason Dallas Goedert had a relatively quiet start to Philadelphia Eagles training camp. That certainly stood out. The targets reportedly weren't as frequent early in camp, which sometimes birthed legitimate questions about how Sean Mannion's offense might distribute opportunities.
Lately, however, a different trend has emerged. Per various sources, including ESPN's Tim McManus, "Jalen Hurts' connection with tight end Dallas Goedert is heating up. The Eagles have made a concerted effort to get the ball into Goedert's hands, involve him in the passing game, and make him a larger part of the offensive rhythm. Whether it's short completions underneath, chain-moving routes over the middle, or red-zone opportunities, Goedert's involvement has steadily increased as camp has progressed.
The Eagles have several intriguing options at tight end, but none match Goedert's combination of experience, production, and quarterback trust. Johnny Mundt is a valuable addition and appears to have carved out a role in certain personnel packages. The veteran has built a reputation as a blocker; however, not as a player expected to carry a significant portion of the passing attack.
Rookie Eli Stowers may eventually become a dynamic receiving threat, but the Eagles have shown little urgency in accelerating his development. That's understandable, considering he's still relatively new to the position and continues to learn the finer points of the NFL game.
Cameron Latu is an interesting developmental player whose versatility could create opportunities. Some have even wondered if he could occasionally function in a fullback-type role. Grant Calcaterra remains on the roster, but he never quite developed into the player many hoped he would become. E.J. Jenkins and Dae'Quan Wright have traits the coaching staff appreciates, but both face difficult paths toward meaningful offensive roles.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, WQTM is AI-driven and has been to the moon and back in just the past few months.

The main physical hurdle for the 2026 artificial intelligence boom has shifted from semiconductor supply to power infrastructure and grid capacity. Hyperscalers, utilities, and data center developers are investing unprecedented capital to build power-dense facilities with 1.5x to 2x the electrical and mechanical capacity of traditional data centers. With regional electric utility networks struggling to keep up with increasing load growth, major players in specialized engineering and contracting, such as EMCOR Group, Inc. (NYSE:EME) and Quanta Services, Inc. (NYSE:PWR), hold enormous pricing power, multi-year backlog visibility, and structural advantages that go beyond standard macroeconomic cycles.
On July 30, EMCOR Group, Inc. (NYSE:EME) provided an example of this strong secular tailwind when it reported record second-quarter 2026 results, sparking an 18% stock jump. Quarterly revenue rose 19.8% year-over-year to $5.15 billion, far exceeding the **** yst forecast of $4.71 billion. Diluted earnings per share hit $9.06, crossing expectations of $7.23 by 25.3%. The report's most noteworthy metric was remaining performance obligations, which increased 44% year-over-year to a record $17.14 billion, with broad-based growth across all five operational areas.
With visibility stretching across its project portfolio, EMCOR's management increased full-year revenue projection for 2026 to $20.0-$20.5 billion and full-year EPS forecast to $32.00-$33.25. EMCOR Group, Inc. (NYSE:EME) also increased its regional size by completing five bolt-on acquisitions totaling $625 million in trailing revenue, which were aimed at major tech hubs like Austin, Texas, and manufacturing regions in Wisconsin.
Quanta Services, Inc. (NYSE:PWR) had an equally strong Q2 result, with the stock rising about 14% after crossing expectations across key operational parameters. Revenue increased 41.1% year-over-year to $9.56 billion, exceeding expectations of $8.53 billion by 12.1%. Adjusted EPS rose 71% year-over-year to $4.24, surpassing expectations by approximately 29%. Quanta's core Electric Infrastructure division led the performance, delivering $7.84 billion in revenue and $898 million in operating income, considerably above Wall Street's expectations of $707 million.
Looking at valuations, the two high-flying infrastructure compounders are trading at very different multiples, with Quanta Services, Inc. (NYSE:PWR) trading at a forward price-to-earnings ratio of 37.79x. Hedge fund support continues to be robust, with Insider Monkey's database showing an increase in hedge fund ownership from 90 in Q4 2025 to 94 in Q1 2026, reflecting strong smart-money sentiment.

A TikToker called out KFC after discovering he only got 35 pieces of chicken popcorn after paying for 50. His outrage sparked debate, leaving many wondering: is shrinkflation hitting fast food? And is it on the rise? One account addressed the possibility.
Famous influencer darkandemomitskiboy told KFC he wasn't planning on getting "scammed" in a heated TikTok video. He wanted to count the pieces in his 50-piece bucket of chicken popcorn to ensure he was getting what he paid for.
He also told viewers that if they didn't deliver on the number, he'd personally visit the outlet. He also got himself fries, a famous bowl, three chicken tenders with some gravy, and for beverages he got Pepsi, **** e, and a Sprite.
The TikToker also ordered an extra portion of the chicken popcorn, because he claimed he doesn't like being scammed. He counted the pieces one by one.
Halfway through, he noticed that the quantity was a far cry from the 50 pieces he was promised. He tapped on the bucket and said, "KFC, KFC?" But continued to count until the number stopped at 35.

Interested in IQM Quantum Computers? Here are five stocks we like better.
Backlog rose to more than €102 million after the second quarter, though revenue remains heavily weighted toward the second half of 2026. IQM reaffirmed its targets of €42 million–€47 million in revenue and €65 million–€75 million in order intake.
IQM reported €6.7 million in second-quarter revenue but a €30.9 million operating loss, reflecting heavy research and development and listing-related costs. Following its Nasdaq listing, the company held €309.4 million in cash, which management said provides funding through the second quarter of 2028.
The company is expanding production and advancing its technology roadmap, including error correction and hybrid quantum-classical computing with HPE. On-premises quantum systems remain the main revenue source, while commercial adoption is still developing beyond IQM's primarily scientific and government customer base.
IQM's Nasdaq Debut Could Change the Quantum Race for D-Wave

Baron Capital, an investment management company, released its Q2 2026 investor letter for the "Baron Health Care Fund". A copy of the letter is available to download here. The Fund gained 11.99% during the quarter, compared with the 10.48% gain for the Russell 3000 Health Care Index and the 15.44% gain for the Russell 3000 Index. Since inception, the Fund appreciated 10.61% on an annualized basis, compared with 10.02% for the Benchmark and 14.83% for the Index. Strong stock selection in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, health care equipment, and life sciences tools and services supported the Fund's outperformance, although limited exposure to managed care stocks reduced relative returns. The Fund remains positive on health care due to improving biotechnology funding, strong acquisition activity, recovering managed care margins, and growth from an aging population, chronic disease, medical innovation, and higher health care spending. In addition, please check the Fund's top five holdings to know the best picks in 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Baron Health Care Fund highlighted BillionToOne, Inc. (NASDAQ:BLLN). BillionToOne, Inc. (NASDAQ:BLLN), a precision diagnostics company leveraging its technology to quantify biology to create molecular diagnostics, delivered strong performance during the quarter. On August 03, 2026, BillionToOne, Inc. (NASDAQ:BLLN) closed at $137.32 per share. The one-month return of BillionToOne, Inc. (NASDAQ:BLLN) was 16.33%, and YTD its shares gained 67.79% over the past 52 weeks. BillionToOne, Inc. (NASDAQ:BLLN) has a market capitalization of $6.32 billion.
Baron Health Care Fund stated the following regarding BillionToOne, Inc. (NASDAQ:BLLN) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"BillionToOne, Inc. (NASDAQ:BLLN) is a diagnostics company that is disrupting the market with more accurate prenatal and oncology genetic tests. Today, the vast majority of the company's revenue is generated by UNITY, a unique prenatal test that can screen for recessive single gene disorders from a maternal blood draw and identify fetal antigen status across both red blood cell and platelet antigens. Shares rose in the second quarter after the company reported robust first-quarter results (revenue up 84% year over year with 22% operating margins) and announced a meaningful expansion of commercial insurance coverage for its UNITY test and new UNITY Confirm product, which can replace amniocentesis or chorionic villus sampling to confirm a genetic diagnosis following a high-risk UNITY screening result. We continue to believe that BillionToOne's differentiated "quantitative counting template" technology enables more sensitive genetic testing. The company is making early headway in oncology with its SELECT therapy selection and RESPONSE therapy monitoring tests, which we think will be important future growth drivers."

The Chicago Bears had a lot of turnover at the safety position this offseason. Last year's starters, Kevin Byard and Jaquan Brisker, departed in free agency, and Chicago signed Coby Bryant in free agency and drafted rookie Dillon Thieneman out of Oregon in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Bryant, who spent the past four seasons with the Seattle Seahawks and was a key part of their Super Bowl run last season, was already making an impression on veteran Bears defenders, including cornerback Tyrique Stevenson, before suffering a knee injury that's expected to sideline him 8-10 weeks.
"He's like a spark plug," Stevenson said. "He's come in with this juice. Obviously from practice, when he's coming out in the middle of the field to make PBUs, he's just a spark plug. He's bringing that energy every day and he's done won it at the highest level, so he's not letting ***** ody slip under the standard."
Chicago already had some injuries in the secondary going into their first padded practice including cornerback Kyler Gordon and safety Elijah Hicks who are on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. The Bears added another injury to that list with Bryant's injury.
Bryant has a hyperextended knee, bone bruise and small fracture that's expected to postpone his Bears debut until at least Week 3. He was the one player Chicago really could not afford to lose, and now, they have a major gap in their secondary. While it is hard to see anyone get injured, it is even worse given how good of a training camp Bryant was having up to that point.

We asked Wrexham AFC fans for their views on what the Red Dragons still need to do before the start of the new Championship season in just under two weeks' time.
Here are some of the replies.
Mick: We must focus on improving our defensive record from last season. It is great to see a highly rated right wing back as our first new signing. Now we need to prioritise a top-class keeper but keep hold of Arthur Okonkwo too. We also need a commanding centre half and a ball playing defensive midfielder. Not asking for much really!
Al: We must still add probably a new keeper, a centre back and a striker who can score 15 goals in a season.
Tim: Phil Parkinson seems desperate for a new goalkeeper, but I am not sure why. I don't think we need major surgery hopefully the likes of Lewis Brunt and Zak Vyner can step up and we stay relatively injury free. Last season, we were an unknown quantity, but teams will be savvier against us now.

No, the Denver Broncos are not moving second-year cornerback Jahdae Barron to safety. Broncos coach Sean Payton made that very clear after Monday's practice.
"He's doing good," Payton said when asked about Barron earlier this week. "I read somewhere where we moved him to safety, and I don't know who wrote the article. I'm not. He's playing nickel, he's playing corner and then when we get into dime, he replaces a linebacker. So he's doing really good. There's been no position change."
Riley Moss continues to play across from Pat Surtain as the team's No. 2 outside cornerback, and Ja'Quan McMillian has been playing in the slot. Barron can rotate in with McMillian as the nickelback, and he gets on the field in "dime" packages when Denver plays with six defensive backs.
"No safety work," Payton said. "He's playing [outside] corner, nickel and dime."
PS2 is one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, and Moss and McMillian are both seemingly playing too well to be benched. So Barron might be looking at another season as a rotational defensive back in Denver.

Elena Khoziaeva's story is basically a masterclass in staying somewhere because it's actually good. Khoziaeva, CFA, shared her journey from Belarus to a Houston master's degree, from walking into Bridgeway in 1998 as partner number six to 25-plus years later as the Co-CIO of a firm now running roughly $5 billion on the latest Behind the Ticker episode with host Brad Roth, founder and CIO of Thor Funds. What makes Bridgeway drastically different than your average shop was baked in from the very beginning of the firm. It gives away half its profits to a foundation fighting genocide, caps pay so no partner earns more than 7x the lowest-paid employee, and runs on a research culture where being wrong in a meeting isn't a career risk but half the point. Khoziaeva calls the approach systematic rather than quantitative, but it all comes down to trusting the process, being open to arguments internally to shape better strategies, and not getting defensive when the model's wrong.
Then there's BSVO, the EA Bridgeway Omni Small-Cap Value ETF, one of the more interesting products in a crowded category. It's got a real 15-year track record (born as a mutual fund in 2010, wrapped as an ETF in 2023), holds roughly 600 names instead of the usual sub-200, and deliberately goes smaller and cheaper than the Russell 2000 Value benchmark, with an average market cap under $3 billion. The value screen runs across the whole universe rather than sector-by-sector, which is why it naturally tilts toward financials and energy and away from healthcare currently, not because anyone's trying to time sectors, but because that's just where the cheapest stuff happens to sit.
The bigger picture Khoziaeva paints is a valuation gap that's stretched further than usual, with small value trading around a 14-15 P/E while large growth sits in the 30s, and the book-to-market gap versus the S&P 500 is nearly double its historical norm. Her line for advisors is memorable: "the tighter the spring, the more powerful the release"and Q1 2026 proved it, with small value up 5% while large growth dropped 10%. Her advice isn't to time it, though but to hold the allocation, stay systematic, and let the spring do what springs do.

For allocators, the formula for strong returns is simple: a blend of strategic portfolio construction and scrutinous manager selection.
Though the execution is a complex balance between quantitative and qualitative ******* ysis, one of the first steps in manager selection will always be past performance.
The PitchBook 2025 Global Manager Performance Score League Tables rank each private equity firm's family of funds by comparing their returns to similar funds raised in the same years. It then converts that outperformance (or underperformance) into a single 0-100 score, with 50 indicating average.
Topping the middle-market buyout category with a perfect 100 for the second year in a row is SSC Partners, the flagship family of Dallas-based Sole Source Capital. This is the only fund family across all 13 strategies in this year's report to reach PitchBook's scale ceiling. Its most recent vintage is open for commitments.
Here's a list of the top-performing fund families per buyout category:

Liverpool have no plans to bring Jarell Quansah back to Anfield despite facing a defensive injury crisis ahead of the new Premier League season, talkSPORT reports.
Liverpool have an option to re-sign the 23-year-old defender from Bayer Leverkusen through a £70 million buyback clause, but they've decided against pursuing the deal.
Interestingly, this comes at a time when Liverpool are dealing with several defensive concerns.
Liverpool stalwart Joe Gomez is expected to miss the start of the season after sustaining an injury in the Reds' 4-2 victory over Sunderland in their pre-season curtain-raiser.
Highly rated youngsters Jeremy Jacquet and Giovanni Leoni are both still working their way back to full fitness after lengthy injury setbacks.

Gracie Abrams used to worry that being happy would make it hard for her to write songs. Turns out the opposite was true, as she tells Rolling Stone for her new cover story.
Gracie is currently dating Irish actor Paul Mescal. She says before they got together, she had "far less experience sitting down to write when I was filled with security and joy and love and safety."
"And I was like, 'Oh, s***, how am I going to approach this?' Or, you know, 'How's it going to impact the quantity of songs I write?'" she continues. "And it's had the most amazing effect on my writing. It has given me the most amount of **** e to reflect on everything in my life."
She continues, "It has held a mirror to me in ways that I didn't know a relationship with another person of any kind could. It has given me all the perspective that I could have ever hoped for, on previous relationships, on my relationship with my family, on my friendships. It is the greatest gift, period."
The couple's relationship has put them under public scrutiny, even more than they were before. And while you'd think Gracie would be used to that, as the daughter of famed director JJ Abrams, that's not the case. She tells Rolling Stone that any time she spent in the public eye as a child was "very contained." She adds that she didn't even know what her father did for a living until her elementary school classmates asked her for insights on Lost, one of his shows.

The quantum computing race is accelerating as firms move from theoretical models to functional hardware. Is IonQ (NYSE:IONQ) or Rigetti Computing (NASDAQ:RGTI) the better buy for your portfolio in 2026?
Both companies represent a high-stakes bet on the future of high-performance computing. IonQ focuses on trapped-ion technology to build its systems, while Rigetti specializes in superconducting processors. This comparison evaluates their financial health, strategic growth, and unique risks to help you decide which stock is a more compelling opportunity today.
IonQ develops trapped-ion quantum computers and offers cloud access to government, enterprise, and research customers. The company recently completed the acquisition of SkyWater Technology, establishing a domestic semiconductor foundry to bolster its infrastructure. Customer concentration like this adds a layer of risk to the business, as revenue heavily depends on a few government entities and cloud partnerships.
In FY 2025, revenue reached nearly $130.0 million, which was a 201.9% increase from the roughly $43.1 million reported in FY 2024. Despite this top-line surge, the company reported a net loss of approximately $510.4 million. The net margin was roughly -392.6%, which measures what percentage of each dollar earned as revenue remains after accounting for all expenses.
As of its December 2025 balance sheet, the debt-to-equity ratio was 0.0x, meaning total debt is zero relative to shareholder equity. The current ratio, which measures the ability to cover short-term liabilities with short-term ***** ets, was roughly 15.5x. Free cash flow was negative $299.6 million, representing cash from operations minus capital expenditures for the fiscal year.

There's a concept in biology called adaptive radiation. It occurs when a species enters a new environment with unoccupied ecological niches and rapidly evolves into multiple distinct forms. We see a similar pattern in technology. When a breakthrough technology emerges, it often triggers a wave of innovation, with a growing number of companies developing competing approaches and quickly filling what was previously an empty market.

Quantum computing appears to be following a similar path. The technology is still in its early stages, and a few companies are already racing to bring it into commercial reality, each pursuing different architectures and strategies. Unlike traditional computers, which process information as ones and zeros, quantum computers use quantum bits, or qubits, that can represent multiple states simultaneously. That allows them to tackle certain highly complex calculations much faster than conventional computers.
The commercial potential is hard to ignore, with Grand View Research projecting the quantum computing market will expand from about $1.9 billion in 2026 to more than $8 billion by 2033.

Investors seeking exposure to cutting-edge computing technologies often weigh the merits of artificial intelligence against quantum breakthroughs. Choosing between BigBear.ai (NYSE:BBAI) and D-Wave Quantum (NASDAQ:QBTS) requires balancing government-focused growth with commercial innovation.
BigBear.ai specializes in decision intelligence for defense and logistics, while D-Wave Quantum provides cloud-based quantum computing services. While both companies operate in the high-stakes world of advanced technology, their paths to profitability and market niches differ significantly. This comparison examines their financials, risks, and valuations to help you decide which stock fits your strategy.
BigBear.ai is a prominent name among tech stocks that provide decision intelligence solutions for supply chains and autonomous systems. The company serves the U.S. Intelligence Community and the Department of Defense alongside commercial manufacturing clients. Customer concentration like this adds a layer of risk to the business, as a few large contracts account for over half of total revenue.
In FY 2025, revenue reached nearly $127.7 million, representing a decline of approximately 19.3% compared to the previous year. The company reported a net loss of roughly $293.9 million for the period, which resulted in a net margin of nearly 230.2%. Net margin measures how much of every dollar in revenue remains as profit after all expenses are paid.
Following its early 2026 debt conversion, the company's debt-to-equity ratio sits at approximately 0.0x, meaning it carries virtually no debt relative to its shareholder equity. This builds on a solid December 2025 foundation where the current ratio was nearly 1.8x, giving the company a strong short-term liquidity buffer. Free cash flow for 2025 was roughly negative $46.3 million, representing the cash remaining after the business pays for its operations and equipment.

Last week, the UIL announced new heat safety protocols for high school athletes. It involves using a measurement called the Wet Bulb Globe Temperature to dictate whether weather conditions are deemed safe for outdoor activities such as football practice or marching band.
The wet bulb globe temperature is another way to quantify the impact of hot days on the body. Compared to the heat index, it gives a more comprehensive look at the heat's impact by factoring in the air temperature, humidity, winds, sky condition, and sun angle to get a final value. That's why the wet bulb globe is a better estimate for real-time heat risk for a given location, and why that value is now the ultimate deciding factor for if it's safe to practice outdoors in the heat or not.
Kingwood High School head football coach Stacy Williams says using the wet bulb globe temperature is a game changer in keeping his athletes safe, and something they're working around.
"If the trainer says we're in the orange right now or in the yellow, we have to come out of our shoulder pads. That's what we have to do," said Williams.
Additionally, practice is also being scheduled earlier in the morning or later at night to accommodate his athletes in the heat.

There were several moves made by the Phillies today, helping us end our long suffering discussion about what they should do and what they shouldn't do. Let's grade them all.
Phillies acquire Luis Arraez, Caleb Kilian from the Giants for Ramon Marquez, Marty Gair
Obviously the doozy of the deals that were completed, there are several layers to this one. First off, addressing their gaping offensive need with a player like Arraez is a solid fit for them. Currently running a 120 wRC+ in San Francisco, he'll be added to a lineup that truly needs what he does at the plate. Arraez's knack for contact hitting and not striking out (a 4.5 K%!!!) is an antithesis to a lineup that is 24th in baseball with a 23.6% strikeout rate. That's probably the greatest ***** et that he can provide the lineup as he doesn't really walk much, something that would be preferable considering that he will likely be batting at or near the top of the lineup. His Savant page has several blue shades in categories one wouldn't really want to be blue in, but there is also the preternatural ability Arraez has at the plate that simply cannot be quantified. He is a player with the skillset of a bygone era, but has made it work all these years he's been in the majors.
You know about the offense. It's the defense.
Some how, some way, Arraez has vaulted himself to the top of the league as a defensive second baseman, a year after he was forced to move his way down the defensive spectrum in San Diego to first base. His work with legendary infield coach Ron Washington with Giants has to be considered the sole reason for this turnaround as Washington has done this with many, many players wherever he has coached. The question is: do you believe in it? With the reports that Arraez will be playing second base with the Phillies, that will force the team into making decisions that will shift at least two players to a new position, creating the chance that the defense will go from an absolute liability to something close to a natural disaster.

The New York Giants finished with a 4-13 record last season, but they weren't your garden-variety last-place team.
The Giants were very competitive in most of their games. They could have very well ended up 7-10 or 8-9 had they been able to finish out games. They squandered five fourth-quarter leads last season, three of which were 10 or more points. They also were 1-7 in one-score games.
Sign of a bad team? Sure. The reasons were aplenty: Bad coaching, poor conditioning, lack of depth due to injuries, and being short on talent. They seemed to run out of gas late in games, and a change across the board was called for.
Enter veteran NFL coach John Harbaugh to instill and/or reverse all of those factors that made the Giants losers the past three seasons.
But Harbaugh has had his own fourth-quarter issues in his career, as pointed out by Ryan Dunleavy of The New York Post:

After being designated as waived/injured by the Denver Broncos on Friday, undrafted cornerback Blake Cotton cleared waivers and reverted to the team's injured reserve list. Cotton was then released from IR with an injury settlement on Sunday, according to the NFL's transaction wire.
After the Broncos signed veteran cornerback Sam Webb last week, Cotton told the Denver Gazette's Chris Tomasson that he was being released with an injury settlement. The team had to first designate him as waived/injured as a formality, but he is now a free agent after being cut from IR with a settlement.
Cotton (6-2, 195 pounds) totaled 30 tackles and seven pass breakups in 13 games at Utah last fall. He originally joined the club in June after a successful tryout. The Broncos' remaining cornerbacks on the 91-man offseason roster are Pat Surtain, Riley Moss, Ja'Quan McMillian, Jahdae Barron, Kris Abrams-Draine, Reese Taylor, Jaden Robinson, Sean Fresch and Brent Austin.
