Early days of the Dallas Cowboys' training camp have been a learning experience for this defensive group as it goes up against Javonte Williams and a high-powered offense every day. In a recent interview, Williams discussed how quickly the offense found its footing in camp, praising the unit's execution and communication so far. Williams also took time to praise new defensive coordinator Christian Parker, pointing to the changes he's already seen in the Cowboys' defense and how much Parker has grown since their time together in Denver. He believes the defense will be better under Parker this season. For Dallas' sake, he needs to be right.
One free-agent defensive addition won't be around to help anymore after the Cowboys waived/injured defensive end Charles Snowden on Sunday. Snowden was signed to provide depth off the edge, but he was also facing a three-game suspension to start the season. In a corresponding move, Dallas signed guard/tackle Sebastian Gutierrez to fill the open roster spot. Gutierrez faces an uphill battle to make the team, but the Cowboys are allowing him to compete for a spot.

Nobody expects the New York Jets to win a Super Bowl this season, not that fans would be mad if it happened, but the expectations are pretty realistic for the team this year. What are those expectations? Basically, Aaron Glenn and company are hoping for more wins than last season and maybe even a playoff run.
But, Jets quarterback Geno Smith has had a rough few seasons with other franchises, and that's not lost on NFL ****** ysts and experts. Bleacher Report has unleashed a new list ranking all of the NFL quarterbacks for 2026. In it, players are graded on six categories: accuracy (25 points), processing (20), arm talent, decision-making, pocket presence (15 apiece) and leadership (10).
Of course, ****** ody thought Smith would be ranked No. 1 on this list. But, he's in a pretty tough spot at No. 29. He's in the "functional performer" section.
"Geno Smith is coming off a disappointing season and a rough two-year stretch. He has turned the ball over at an alarming rate (32 INTs) in that span," Bleacher Report notes.

This may have been just a formality at this point, but that doesn't mean it's still not good to hear. According to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, by way of Tom Izzo himself, projected Michigan State starter Kaleb Glenn has been cleared for all basketball related activites.
Glenn was the big transfer addition to the team last year, but a torn patellar tendon last summer derailed his season and postponed his debut. The Spartans were very patient and cautious with Glenn's recovery, and it seems like all restrictions have now been lifted and he's ready to contribute this season.
On paper, Glenn is everything Michigan State has needed on the wing for years. He's 6'7", 200-pounds, and shot over 40-percent from three in his last season played at FAU, where he transferred for one season after starting his career at Louisville.
Glenn has been a bit of a mystery element for this team as we aren't sure what to expect from him post-injury, but having him healthy adds an interesting dynamic to the roster moving forward.

The draft grades you receive afterward are enough to make you log out and forget you even joined a league before opening kickoff. Trust me, I've been there. And I still short-circuit sometimes when I'm on the clock. But after a few years of cobbling together winning teams, here are a few Dos and Don'ts to simplify things when trying to build a squad.
Admittedly, disregarding a player's name and focusing on their production sounds exactly like something a nerd like myself would suggest. The thought runs counter to the excitement we experience every Thursday, Sunday and Monday. Specifically who touches the ball is what keeps us debating about this beautiful sport all the way until the next season starts.
On the one hand, the highlights and constant attention to offseason news and notes are what shape the market. Puka Nacua and Colston Loveland (featured in the top-10 plays) are two of the best at their position. We should value them accordingly. But the other side of that coin is the notion their production (not talent) is unique. In turn, if you don't draft that particular player, you've fallen behind. However, you can find similar levels of opportunity elsewhere.

If there's one coach USC fans want to defeat this year, it's Dan Lanning of Oregon. Let's start by giving him his props. He has roasted USC and Lincoln Riley a few times. Oregon is the best program on the West Coast right now. Lanning has made two straight playoff appearances, winning a Big Ten ***** le and making the semifinals last season. He's a very good coach who has made USC look bad. Give him credit even if you don't like him. However, as College Sports Wire notes, Lanning seems to be overselling what Oregon has achieved. The Ducks have been good, and they've been much better than USC, but the coach seems to be overstating how close Oregon has come to winning a national championship:
"We've played as good of football as anybody in the last few years outside of the team that won the national championship," Lanning said to ESPN during Big Ten Media Days. "So we're close. Let's go attack 2026. New season, new team, let's see if we can become the best version of us. Look, the ball bounced the right way (for opponents) a couple times, but you create some of your own luck, too, as you get down to the end of the season."
That last sentence is a real hoot. The ball bounced the right way for opposing teams? Oregon got its doors blown off by Ohio State in the 2024-2025 playoff and by Indiana in the 2025-2026 playoff. Those games weren't decided by bounces of the ball. They were thumpings. Oregon is a lot closer to the national ***** le than USC, but Dan Lanning doesn't have to embellish. Why he felt the need to is very interesting.

When USC football faces Ohio State this season, the battle will contain dozens of very juicy plot points. Day spoke about how Smith's NFL background has seeped into what he has imparted onto Sayin this offseason.

'When you go from coaching Aaron Rodgers to a college quarterback, you can certainly imagine what that has been like for Arthur. Man, Julian keeps up. It's been fun to watch. Combine that with a quarterback who has the experience now. I mean, this is only the third time since I've been at Ohio State that we've had the same quarterback come back for a second year (as a starter). That's a big deal."
Ohio State gave Julian Sayin a new coordinator with NFL experience. USC has Lincoln Riley, the ultimate NFL quarterback developer in modern times. He has given the NFL Jalen Hurts, Caleb Williams, Baker Mayfield, and Kyler Murray. Ohio State versus USC will in many ways be a battle of which offensive tactician can get the most out of his quarterback.

One fantasy football related stat for every NFL team heading into the 2026 season. The order is listed by odds to win the Super Bowl, and the notes come from snippets of my player ***** ysis that can be found in Yahoo Plus where I have plenty of ***** ysis, rankings, targets, fades, etc.

Davante Adams led the NFL with 0.76 touchdowns per game inside the 20-yard line on a 27% target share. Only Amon-Ra St. Brown and Drake London came close to matching, but his role outside the red zone was just as fascinating. He had an 18% target share with a 0% screen rate outside of the red zone with an average depth of target 15.6 yards downfield, which was the third highest at WR. Adams' role is completely big-play dependent with his easy targets evaporating.
Josh Allen has finished as the QB1 (24.6 points per game), QB3 (23.7), QB1 (25.8), and QB1 (26.4) in recent seasons. The last two years were his worst fantasy years in a long time, and he still separated from the mid- and low-end fantasy QB1s. In terms of overall finishes using fantasy points over replacement per game in half-PPR, Allen has been 30th, 18th, 30th and 19th. The only downside with him is how deep the QB group is this season, so I'd understand waiting until late Round 3 to grab Allen.
Over the past two seasons when Lamar Jackson has over five passes in a game, Zay Flowers is the WR13 in yards and the WR47 in touchdowns per game. His target share in the red zone is 15.7% versus 27.5% outside of the red zone. If he scores some long touchdowns or gets more chances in the red zone, then Flowers is an upside WR2 as he heads into his prime. Unfortunately, there's about 10 other receivers in this exact tier.

They also hoped the monarch would do the same and allegedly believed the private meeting should not have happened.
Royal expert Emily Andrews said that Prince William and Kate Middleton may have felt "humiliated" following the Sussexes' return to the UK for the reunion. This is because they were firm about maintaining their no-contact boundaries with the Sussexes and hoped the monarch would follow it too. However, that doesn't appear to be the case, given recent reports suggest King Charles is extending an olive branch to Prince Harry to stay at Buckingham Palace on his next visit.
Andrews notes that the reunion has been a win for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. She further explains that Harry's exit from the royal family, along with the criticisms and alleged betrayals that followed, continues to sting the family.
As a result, the future king remains firm in his stance toward his younger brother and allegedly believes the reunion should not have happened. She further claimed that the monarch's first duty is to "the heir and his wife" and not "the spare."

The Big Ten has earned the right to claim it is the best conference in college football. Many people who advocate for the SEC will put their conference ahead of the Big Ten. They don't have an argument. Indiana Hoosiers head football coach Curt Cignetti made sure to put his own personal stamp on the conversation.
In a recent tweet, ON3 highlighted Curt Cignetti's strong thoughts on the Big Ten in comparison to other conferences at Big Ten media days. Here is what he had to say:
"We don't run a hype machine up here in the Midwest. We believe everything is earned, not given. When we fall short, we say we fell short. We don't cry a river and whine and complain. All right, and that's why we're the best."
Curt Cignetti and the Hoosiers earned every right to have a strong statement such as that after last season, dominating the Big Ten and then going on to win the national **** le game. Curt Cignetti has always spoken exactly how he feels, but the Big Ten's and his program's recent success backs up his strong feelings. The Indiana Hoosiers, since Curt Cignetti has taken over, have prioritized what matters most with his program, and that is why the Hoosiers have been a top team in college football during that era. It is time for Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans to showcase those same traits.

The Big Ten and all other college sports conferences are tackling the topic of jersey patches in football and other sports. College Sports Wire picked up some of the latest details on this issue:
"Illinois and Ohio State were two schools that jumped into lucrative deals, and Big Ten Commissioner Tony Petitti was asked about the conference's stance on allowing individual programs to agree to such arrangements.
"'Does it make sense to allow the institutions to do it themselves? Are there certain sports you want to hold back? Should we have a conference policy?', Petitti said at Big Ten Media Days, alluding to the thoughts the conferences had when they anticipated these deals coming down. 'Our ****** ysis and the work we did with our members led to the decision that the conference should review those decisions at an institution-based level. That's where we are. It doesn't mean around championships you might do something different with an additional patch, but the core thing, we think it was best left up to the strength of our institutions, let them do the deals that they need to do and kind of go from there.'"
We saw the Big 12 negotiate a sponsorship deal which included a company logo on jersey patches but had other components as well. That deal, however, did not prevent Big 12 member schools from negotiating their own separate deals. It seems the Big Ten is not in a fundamentally different place. It will be fascinating to see how this issue evolves in the coming years.

USC football needs a lot of things to happen if this season is going to come together perfectly. ESPN's Bill Connelly explored the "ifs" which need to emerge for the Trojans to achieve up to their expectations (and maybe even exceed them).
Connelly writes that USC's season can be special "If ... Jayden Maiava has pass catchers. Maiava is one of the most proven returning quarterbacks in the sport and should have a dynamite run game at his disposal thanks to backs Waymond Jordan and King Miller, and an experienced line. But of the seven players with at least 125 receiving yards last season, only sophomore wideout Tanook Hines returns. Transfer Terrell Anderson (NC State) will need to be an immediate hit, as will a few young, unproven options."
Tanook Hines is generally viewed and accepted as a USC receiver who will do well in 2026. The Terrell Anderson portal pickup has to hit. Other depth pieces in the wide receiver room have to become legitimate options who will demand attention and respect from opposing defenses. Part of the discussion here is that Dennis Simmons needs to develop depth at the wide receiver position. He has created stars at USC but not a lot of rooms in which there were four or five really good receivers. He had that in 2022 but hasn't matched that standard since. That's an important goal for USC this season. It could make the difference between this team being moderately good and very good, borderline great.

According to Independent, United "are investigating whether a deal for ****** nal's Myles Lewis-Skelly is possible", with the club seeking clarity on whether their Premier League rivals would even entertain talks.
This is described as an area of long-term interest. United's decision-makers "have long-standing interest in the Lewis-Skelly" and are now trying to establish whether ****** nal "would do business", particularly amid the north London club's aggressive plans in the market. It is an intriguing dynamic because Lewis-Skelly's status has shifted significantly over the past year.
There "was the possibility of a move last season", when the young defender endured difficult spells out of the side. Since then, however, his standing has risen sharply. The report notes that a "late-season revival has transformed his profile", highlighted by his start in the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain and the impact he made as ****** nal surged over the line.

That explains why ****** nal "prefer to keep him", even if wider squad changes could alter the picture. Possible arrivals such as Bruno Guimaraes and Vinicius Junior would reshape roles and competition for places. Unanimously ranked No. 1 in 247Sports, Rivals, and ESPN's recruiting rankings, coach Mike Elko, who is entering his third season at the helm, also leads the nation with six five-star commitments in ESPN's rankings after securing blue-chip wide receiver Eric McFarland III in late June.

Michigan State hockey continues to roll on the recruiting trail.
The Spartans picked up a five-star commitment on Saturday, with forward Jack Trupiano announcing his commitment from St. Clair Shores, Mich. Trupiano's commitment to Michigan State was reported by Puck Preps on social media.
Trupiano is a member of the 2010 class and will play for the United States National Team Development Program (US NTDP) this upcoming season. He is ranked as the No. 11 American forward in the class.
Trupiano is listed at 6-foot-0 and 183 pounds, and is 16 years old. It is ***** umed he has two years with the US NTDP before he'll join the Spartans.

Income investors comparing JPMorgan Equity Premium Income ETF (NYSEARCA:JEPI) and JPMorgan Nasdaq Equity Premium Income ETF (NASDAQ:JEPQ) are looking at the two largest actively managed ETFs in the country. Both use the same JPMorgan playbook: hold a defensive equity sleeve, generate extra cash through equity-linked notes that mimic an out-of-the-money covered call, and pay it out monthly. The mechanics rhyme, but the underlying exposure differs.
One fund leans on the S&P 500 with a low-volatility tilt. The other rides a Nasdaq-100 sleeve where implied volatility is structurally higher, feeding fatter option premiums into the monthly distribution. A former Ohio State Buckeye is retiring from the NFL after 12 seasons in the league. Defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins, better known as "Big Hank," is calling it a career.
Hankins earned a starting spot in the trenches by his sophomore year at OSU. The **** e eater tallied 67 tackles with 11 tackles for loss and three sacks. In his junior season, Hankins totaled 55 tackles with four tackles for loss and one sack. He would enter the NFL draft and become a second-round pick of the New York Giants.
Over the course of the next 12 years, Hankins would play with a total of five different teams, including the Colts, Raiders, Cowboys, and Seahawks. He racked up 433 tackles with 44 tackles for loss, 18.5 sacks, 13 forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and 13 pass breakups in 169 games. He finished his career with Seattle, although he would miss the entire 2025 season due to a back injury. After being waived in December, Big Hank decided to hang it up for good.
Hankins earned All-Big Ten and All-American honors while wearing the Scarlet and Gray.

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan has yet to miss a practice this training camp while he recovers from a July 14 car accident in Palo Alto for which he ultimately took responsibility. He consistently shows up midway through, staying a little bit longer each time. Friday was his longest stint as an observer.
He watched for over an hour, scribbling notes between snaps, then jogged to the post-practice huddle to listen from the outskirts.
At one point Shanahan also found himself no more than 10 yards from the loud music being pumped from a practice speaker during a situational red-zone team period, after typically standing a much more comfortable distance from the speaker on the adjacent field in previous practices. He told a small group of reporters earlier this week the music had been "killing" him as he recovers from serious concussion symptoms. Friday was perhaps a sign of progress that he could brave the proximity for at least 10 to 15 minutes.
"He's there with us when we watch our tape after practice, and he's Kyle to me," said acting head coach Chris Foerster.
"I think he's challenging himself and pushing himself. I see him every day. I think he stays a little bit more, or tries to. I'm not sure (of) the whole routine. But I see Kyle being Kyle a whole lot right now."
