Dean Thompson has a new home for the 2027 NASCAR season. Last weekend, Haas Factory Team announced that Thompson will join the organization full-time for the 2027 NASCAR O'Reilly Series season. The Sam Hunt Racing driver will be one of three full-time competitors, with the organization expanding to a third car.

MotoGP's new 850cc era will kick off with a special season-launch event at Rio de Janeiro on 21 February 2027.
As reported by Motorsport.com last month, the entire MotoGP grid will travel to Brazil at the start of next year to mark the launch of the new season.
The main event will take place at Botafogo Beach, with the famous Sugarloaf Mountain serving as the backdrop

Alessandro de Tullio went flag-to-flag from pole to claim a dominant Indy NXT victory at Portland International Raceway.
The Argentine led all 35 laps in the No. 14 AJ Foyt Racing entry to win by 2.169 seconds around the 12-turn, 1.964-mile natural road course. It marked de Tullio's second win of the season.
"Yeah, it wasn't easy," de Tullio said. "I had to take care of the tires; there was quite a bit of deg there towards the end. I went for the fastest lap at the end, but I didn't get it by almost nothing. But yeah, it was a good race, the start was a bit gnarly with Lochie (Hughes). He really charged into Turn 1, but we were able to hold that off. We were able to get a good restart after the safety car. The car was great. I can't thank the whole team enough."
The Andretti Global duo of Hughes and Max Taylor finished second and third, respectively. Tymek Kucharczyk, driving the #71 entry for HMD Motorsports, finished fourth. Jacob Abel, making his first series appearance since finishing runner-up in the 2024 championship, completed the top five.

Spire Motorsports enters Sunday afternoon's Iowa Corn 350 with plenty of work ahead after a difficult showing in practice and qualifying at Iowa Speedway. It certainly was no encore from the Brickyard for Spire.
The organization struggled to find consistent speed around Iowa's 7/8-mile layout on Saturday, with none of its three cars qualifying inside the top 10.
Michael McDowell led the way for Spire, qualifying 11th in the No. 71 Chevrolet. While McDowell narrowly missed the top 10, his starting position gives him the best opportunity of the three Spire drivers to move toward the front early.
Carson Hocevar will have more ground to make up after qualifying 18th in the No. 77 Chevrolet. Hocevar has shown plenty of speed throughout the 2026 season, but Iowa has not produced the same results so far. Starting in the middle of the field puts an added emphasis on gaining track position early without getting caught up in trouble.
The toughest challenge belongs to Daniel Suárez.

JR Motorsports teammate Ross Chastain led most of the final run, but a caution with five laps to go completely changed the complexion of the race.
Chastain spun the tires in the first overtime restart, allowing Kvapil to move ahead. Right behind them, Brent Crews slid up into Ryan Sieg and Justin Allgaier, wrecking all three cars and collecting several others. That led to a post-race confrontation between Allgaier and Crews.
In double overtime, Kvapil once again got a better restart than Chastain, and Rajah Caruth actually moved up into second. They led a JR Motorsports 1-2 with William Sawalich third, Chastain sliding back to fourth, and Sheldon Creed fifth.

The NASCAR Cup Series field is officially set for Sunday's Iowa Corn 350 Powered by Ethanol, but two teams will head into race day with an added obstacle after failing pre-race inspection twice.
NASCAR announced Saturday evening that the No. 34 Front Row Motorsports Ford driven by David Gilliland and the No. 60 RFK Racing Ford driven by Ryan Preece each failed inspection twice before Sunday's race at Iowa Speedway.
As a result, both teams lost their pit selection for the event, and NASCAR ejected each team's car chief.
For the No. 34 team, car chief Joe Marra was ejected after the second inspection failure.
Ryan Preece's No. 60 team also failed inspection twice, resulting in car chief Jerry Cook being ejected.

Saturday at Iowa Speedway was big for the underdogs, as driver/owner Ryan Sieg earned his first-ever pole as a NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series driver.
Driving the No. 39 RSS Racing Chevrolet, Sieg went to the top of the charts with a 23.966s lap at Iowa, 0.064s clear of Ross Chastain in second. Chastain led a fleet of JR Motorsports cars, with Carson Kvapil third, Rajah Caruth fourth, and Justin Allgaier fifth.
"It's been a long time," said Sieg as the small team celebrated. "Everything seems to be clicking. We've been working super hard at the shop, trying to come together with the Haas Factory Team and the alliance. It's finally coming together for us. And it's a special day as it's my mom's birthday, so this is a nice payoff right here for her and I. So hopefully we stay out front all day, and we get to Victory Lane in our SciAps Chevrolet."
The difference came in Sieg's momentum through Turns 3/4, nailing the exit in a way none could match. Several drivers drew even with him down the backstretch, but quickly faded through the final set of corners.
Sieg didn't think it was a pole lap while behind the wheel, and wasn't even sure what he did do different to be that far ahead. "I really don't -- I thought it was just an okay lap. I was tight, actually, at the exit, but I couldn't roll the middle and get into the gas like I thought i needed to. But ****** , it was good enough to get pole here in Iowa."

An extension to Silverstone's deal to continue hosting MotoGP is a boost to the local and national economy, the track's managing director has said.
MotoGP and Silverstone announced the news to keep the highest class of motorbike racing at the Northamptonshire venue until 2028 earlier this week.
The move came as the track prepares to host this year's British Grand Prix, with tens of thousands of fans expected to attend on Sunday.
"It's great news," said Silverstone boss Stuart Pringle. "MotoGP is enjoying a strong period at the moment and we hope to introduce more and more motorsport fans to see this spectacular racing."

Electric racing was intended to demonstrate that battery-powered vehicles could be exciting, fast and commercially viable while promoting a cleaner future for transport. More than a decade later, the landscape has changed dramatically. Electric vehicles are now a mainstream product in many markets, China has become the global center of EV innovation, and conversations around climate change have entered a more fractious mode. The newest electric racing championship, E1, finds itself entering the market at a very different moment. The series, featuring all-electric hydrofoiling RaceBird boats competing in waterfront cities around the world, still promotes clean technology, but its leadership increasingly believes that sustainability is no longer enough to capture public attention. Instead, E1's future may depend on demonstrating that electric propulsion simply delivers a better experience. I talked to E1 (and Formula E) founder Alejandro Agag, Sports.com Predict Team Miami pilots Timmy Hansen and Rianna O'Meara-Hunt, and Sports.com Predict Team Miami team principal Steve Curtis. They described a championship that is rapidly evolving from an environmental showcase into one of the world's most technically fascinating forms of motorsport.
Agag has spent much of his career launching new forms of electric motorsport. Having founded Formula E before turning his attention to Extreme E and now E1, he has witnessed first-hand how attitudes towards electrification have changed. "When we launched Formula E electric was the future," says Agag. "Manufacturers were going full electric. Mercedes came in, BMW, and Audi."
Today, Agag believes the public conversation has moved on. "Sustainability has really lost a lot of its attraction, which is a pity, because the climate problem has not changed, it's worse than before," says Aga. "Activists have been incredibly bad for the cause. To destroy a piece of art or to block a highway has exactly the opposite effect. It really repels people. It produces a divorce between the public and sustainability, because those activists wrongly embody environmentalism."

Kalle Rovanpera says he is open minded about his return to competitive motorsport next year as the two-time world rally champion plans to discuss his next steps with Toyota.
Rovanpera has received the green light to resume his motorsport career after recovering from a health issue that forced the Finn to abandon plans to make the leap from rallying to circuit racing in Super Formula this year.
But last weekend Rovanpera jumped back behind the wheel of a Toyota Corolla GT AE86 rally car when he joined his world ***** le winning co-driver Jonne Halttunen for demonstration runs on the Harju stage at Rally Finland.
The outing in a car owned by Halttunen was Rovanpera's first drive in rally machinery since stepping away from the World Rally Championship at the end of 2025.

Wayne Taylor Racing ended a winning streak of more than two years in IMSA Grand Touring Prototype, winnin the Motul SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix at Road America with the No. 10 Cadillac of Filipe Albuquerque and Ricky Taylor
In a chaotic race (expanded to six hours) Sunday on the Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, road course, Albuquerque and Taylor delivered the team's first win in the top category of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship since Detroit in June 2024. It's WTR's first victory since returning to Cadillac last year.
"Very, very special," Albuquerque said. "This is more than just a win. Super happy with everyone."
Albuquerque took the lead from Jack Aitken in the No. 31 Cadillac with just under 90 minutes remaining and held on through multiple restarts as the race ended under yellow. The No. 5 JDC-Miller MotorSports Porsche 963 of Laurin Heinrich, Kaylen Frederick and Tijmen van der Helm finished second, and WTR 's No. 40 Cadillac of Jordan Taylor and Louis Deletraz finished third.
"Amazing day, it was a full team effort," Ricky Taylor said. "So proud of how the team has stuck with it and kept working towards this sort of result, and just very thankful to Cadillac for sticking with us through all of it. The Clash is expected to have a new home in 2027. According to The Athletic's Jordan Bianchi, the Clash is expected to return to Daytona International Speedway after a six-year hiatus. After a two-year run at Bowman Gray Stadium, NASCAR will go back to Daytona for its opening exhibition event.
