Aug 22 (Reuters) - Ukrainian drones killed at least six civilians overnight in a wave of strikes on Russia overnight that also hit a warehouse owned by online retailer Ozon and an industrial facility in the Samara region, Russian regional officials said on Saturday.
In a post on Telegram, Samara Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev said that several people had been wounded in the strikes. He did not name the industrial facility struck, but Ukraine's military said it had struck the region's Novokuibyshevsk refinery, causing a fire.
Ozon, Russia's second-largest online retailer, said in a statement on Telegram that work at its Samara region logistics centre in the town of Chapayevsk had been halted after the strike, which it said caused injuries.
The strike is the first on Ozon, after weeks of drone attacks on its larger rival Wildberries, which Ukraine has cast as part of a wider campaign against economic infrastructure underpinning the Russian war in Ukraine.
Elsewhere, in the southern Russian region of Krasnodar, Governor Veniamin Kondratyev said that two children had been killed and two adults wounded in a strike on the Sea of Azov port town of Yeysk. He said a fire had broken out at an unnamed facility at the town's port.

BERLIN, Aug 9 (Reuters) - Germany's trade deficit with China widened in the first half of 2026, even as the Asian powerhouse remained its top trade partner, preliminary data from state-run agency Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI) showed on Sunday.
German exports to China fell over 12% year-on-year to just under €37 billion between January and June, the data showed, as Chinese firms cut reliance on European imports, making China only the ninth-biggest market for German goods.
As recently as 2021, China was the second-biggest export market. That year, Germany sold China merchandise worth €104 billion, despite the effects of the pandemic.
Now, German manufacturing is struggling with both U.S. tariffs and Chinese competition, triggering major job cuts at bulwarks of industry such as carmaker Volkswagen.

A search resumed Thursday, July 30, for a 10-year-old girl who remains missing after she and two other children, including a now-deceased 10-year-old boy, entered the Passaic River in northern New Jersey.
The boy's body was recovered around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, several hours after emergency crews were called to the river near Pulaski Park and Dundee Island Park in Passaic, according to Passaic Mayor Hector Lora. Authorities continued searching overnight and planned to resume water operations Thursday morning if conditions required crews to pause overnight efforts.
An 11-year-old girl made it safely out of the river, the New Jersey Bergen Record, part of the USA TODAY Network, reported. According to her account, her 10-year-old brother may have saved her life by pushing her toward safety before he went under the water, CBS News reported.
Investigators are still working to determine how the three children ended up in the river. Lora said officials' priority remains locating the missing girl and supporting the children's families.
The body of the 10-year-old boy was found about 30 feet from where the children entered the river, officials said. As crews continued searching for the missing girl, the operation shifted from a rescue mission to a recovery effort.

LONDON, July 16 (Reuters) - The full implementation of China's rare earth export restrictions could put $6.5 trillion of downstream production outside the country at risk, the International Energy Agency warned on Thursday.
China, the world's largest producer of rare earths, expanded export controls in October last year to cover additional materials and introduced new licensing requirements, but later agreed to delay implementation for a year.
Rare earths are a group of 17 metals used in small quantities, but essential to products ranging from cars and aircraft to electronics and weapons systems.
If the controls take full effect, about $6.5 trillion of production across the automotive, high-tech, defence and energy sectors could be exposed to supply disruptions, the IEA said in its Global Critical Minerals Outlook report.
The U.S. and Europe would account for nearly half of the economic impact, the report added.
