Ask anyone which Dallas Cowboys defensive rookie they are most excited to see throughout training camp and you will get the same answer over and over: Caleb Downs.
This is the right answer, to be clear. Downs is projected as a generational player and is set to transform what the Cowboys are able to do on the defensive side of the ball. Watching him in action with the rest of the team is going to be incredible and help justify the lofty beliefs that we have in him.

During Mark Pope’s first two seasons in Lexington, we have yet to see him develop a lottery pick in the NBA Draft.
That may be changing next year, as Malachi Moreno is already generating buzz as a potential lottery selection in the 2027 NBA Draft.
Over at Sports Illustrated, Derek Parker has Moreno ranked as the third-best returning college player who was a 2026 NBA prospect.
Kentucky big Malachi Moreno fell victim to the depth of the ’26 class, putting up enough production to be an intriguing late-first bet in most classes.
In his freshman season with the Wildcats, he averaged 7.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.8 ****** ists and 1.5 blocks in just 22.6 minutes per game, showing off versatility on the interior. With similar or better production, he could massively boost his stock.

It's always interesting to get a players take on the game, and as a cover athlete on EA Sports NCAA College Football 2027, Notre Dame star cornerback Leonard Moore has been part of the games social media campaign.
Three of the stars, Moore along with Miami wide receiver Malachi Toney and Oregon's Dante Moore each ranked their personal top-3 rivalries of college football. The Irish star had a very interesting list, which didn't have his team at the top.
He has Notre Dame and USC as his No. 3, followed by Ohio State and Michigan then at the top was Texas and Oklahoma. It's hard to argue with this ranking, but it should be noted that each of the players picked "The Game". Two of the three picked the "Red River Rivalry", meaning those two games most likely are at the top of many peoples lists.
It hard to say if the "Battle for the Jeweled Shillelagh" was still active it would get more hype, but that's the reality of the situation. The game could be played in the future, but it does seem like without any recent additions to the rivalry, will start to fade in peoples minds as one of the top matchups.

When the Dallas Cowboys shipped Micah Parsons off to the land of piney woods and squeaky cheese last summer, they didn’t quite know what they had left in the edge rush department. For years Parsons represented the position group to the highest degree, establishing himself as one of the best in the game. He was the alpha and the omega of the edge room and a player who made things easier for everyone around him. To make things even more unpredictable, Parsons' departure coincided with DeMarcus Lawrence's, pushing the Cowboys headfirst into the unknown.
Yet, the cabinet wasn’t empty. Sam Williams was an aspiring talent, Donovan Ezeiruaku looked like a draft steal and Dante Fowler was a double-digit sack mercenary, so there was hope things would work out. As luck would have it, things did not work out. All three aforementioned players underachieved one way or another and the Cowboys were left scrambling for answers, midseason.

Despite some early woes in the transfer portal, Mark Pope managed to **** emble one of the best portal classes in the country. Along with key returners like Malachi Moreno and Kam Williams, Kentucky Basketball will now enter the 2026-27 season as a consensus top-25 team.
However, few, if any, college basketball rosters are without question marks, and Kentucky is no different.
So, what are some potential pitfalls with this group?
The easy one to point to is the injury bug, which has been problematic over the last two years and has already hit several players. Transfer center Franck Kepnang is being held out of summer workouts after missing the end of last season due to a knee issue.
Meanwhile, Kam Williams is out as he continues to rehab his surgically repaired foot and is not expected to practice this summer, despite having returned for the final five games last season.

LSU Baseball will get one of its top signees from the 2026 class to campus. Malachi Washington will forego professional baseball for the time being and join the Tigers next season, according to a social media post on his account on Sunday.
The Pittsburgh Pirates selected Washington at No. 528 overall in the 18th round, but it appears the outfielder wants a chance to boost his standing. MLB ranked Washington as the No. 118 prospect in the draft class, but he fell well below scouts' projections of where he would get picked. That's usually what happens when scouts expect it will take a lot of cash to pull a player away from the college ranks.
Instead, Washington will play baseball in the SEC under head coach Jay Johnson. Getting a player of his caliber to campus fills immediate needs for the Tigers as they're replacing their whole starting outfield and multiple spots in the top half of the batting order.
The six-foot-one, 195-pounder is a top-five outfielder in the 2026 class. Washington is one of a handful of talented prospects LSU expects to hit campus. Even with a few draft losses, there's a chance LSU signs the top-ranked recruiting class in college baseball.

The Nets exercised Smith's minimum-salary team option at the end of June, but elected to move on from the 26-year-old who spent the majority of the season with Brooklyn's G League team in Long Island before a short stint with the Nets to close the year.
Smith averaged 8.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.3 ******* ists while playing 23.9 minutes per game, shooting 48.5% from the field and connecting on 43.5% of his 3-point attempts. The former Gonzaga guard made four starts and came off the bench 11 times for Brooklyn.
Smith posted his season-high in both points and rebounds when he registered a 19-point, 10-rebound double-double during a 125-108 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on April 10. He reached double figures in four other games for Brooklyn.

While Kentucky Basketball is looking for one more player to fill that 15th scholarship, the 2067-27 roster is pretty much set, so we want to hear your opinion on who this team’s MVP will be.
Malachi Moreno is the big returner after a promising freshman season that could have made him an NBA Draft pick. Thankfully, he opted to return to Lexington, and he’s now projected to be one of the best big men in college basketball.
Then there’s Iowa State transfer Milan Momcilovic, who is one of the best shooters the sport has seen in recent memory. There’s no question he’s the best player on the roster in terms of where everyone was when last season finished, and he’ll likely be the favorite to be Kentucky’s MVP next year.
Could we see someone else sneak up and become the team’s MVP? Projected starting guards Zoom Diallo and Alex Wilkins will certainly have something to say. They’ve both had promising careers to this point and could be due for a breakout next year while surrounded by the best supporting casts they’ve had in college.

However, Mark Pope came through, as later in the spring the team was able to get Malachi Moreno back, and he looks primed to be one of the best big men in the conference. Moreno was soaring up draft charts and could've been taken in the first round. However, he opted to join the Cats for a second season.
Then, Pope really started to find his groove when the Cats were able to add Iowa State sniper Milan Momcilovic. Momcilovic averaged 16.9 points per game last season and was arguably the best shooter in the country. Those four players should be huge for the Cats, as will several other talented transfers that Pope was able to add.
That said, this team is really starting to find its identity, and Pope's hope and a three-point-centric roster may be coming to fruition. West Virginia might soon find that out as the two sides are reportedly in negotiations for a fall ball right before Thanksgiving. Michigan basketball has moved another step closer toward keeping its entire roster intact after Dusty May’s departure.
Incoming freshman Marcus Moller, a 7-foot-3 center from Denmark, and redshirt sophomore guard Ricky Liburd are reportedly sticking with the Wolverines amid the program’s coaching change.
Moller and Liburd are the 10th and 11th Michigan players who’ve pledged to stay after May left for the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks and Mike Boynton Jr. was named interim head coach. That list includes fellow freshmen Malachi Brown, Lincoln Cosby, Joseph Hartman and Brandon McCoy Jr.; transfers J.P. Estrella, Moustapha Thiam and Jalen Reed; and returners Elliot Cadeau and Trey McKenney.

Tip-off for Kentucky Basketball’s season opener is still nearly four months away, but Jon Rothstein has already released his early SEC Basketball rankings.
Rothstein has Kentucky ranked 5th in the conference behind Florida, Texas, Tennessee, and Arkansas. Vanderbilt, Alabama, Missouri, Texas A&M, and Georgia make up the bottom half of the top 10.

That's reflected in EA Sports' latest iteration of the world-renowned college football video game series, in which the 'Canes rank firmly in the top 10 and boast one of the best offenses in the game.

Last year's team featured three players with an overall rating of 90 at the start of the season. The Dallas Cowboys entered the offseason with one clear goal, to fix the defense. They've made several significant changes, but ESPN statistician Seth Walder wasn't particularly impressed. The move he liked most was Dallas keeping George Pickens with the franchise tag. The move he liked least was trading Osa Odighizuwa to the San Francisco 49ers. He also took into account the Cowboys' decision to hire Christian Parker as defensive coordinator, the additions of safety Caleb Downs and edge rusher Malachi Lawrence through the draft, and veteran acquisitions such as safety Jalen Thompson and linebacker Dee Winters.
However Walder gave Dallas a C+ for its offseason overhaul but chose to view Dallas' offseason through the lens of last season's loss of Micah Parsons. While the grade isn't completely unfair, it fails to account for the bigger picture and should be a bit higher when you consider everything the Cowboys have done to reshape this defense.
Parsons' trade shocked just about everyone, but it happened last season, and the Cowboys have already adjusted their roster-building strategy. Continuing to weigh that move heavily in an evaluation of this offseason feels shortsighted.

The Brooklyn Nets came into NBA free-agency with some matters to attend to before 6 PM ET on Jun. 30 when teams can negotiate with free-agents from other teams. Prior to the official beginning of free-agency, Brooklyn had to consider which players they were exercising team options on and contract options of that nature, but it looks like the Nets brought back most of the players.
To being, the Nets declined the $6.25 million team option on forward Ziaire Williams' contract for the 2026-27 season on Sunday, officially making him an unrestricted free-agent before the official start of free-agency. There is still a chance for Brooklyn to re-sign Williams once free-agency opens, but there seems to be other teams interested in his services if he does not return to the Nets.
More to the point, Brooklyn declined to tender qualifying offers to forwards Ochai Agbaji and Jalen Wilson, also making them unrestricted free-agents prior to the beginning of free-agency. Given that the Nets acquired Agbaji from the Toronto Raptors in the middle of last season via trade, there was some interest surrounding his free-agency, but it seems like he and Wilson will be able to test the market before making any decisions.
As far as who the Nets brought back, they plan to re-sign forward Josh Minott to a two-year, $9 million deal and plan to sign center Day'Ron Sharpe to a two-year deal worth around $20 million. Given that free-agency hasn't officially opened as of this writing, Brooklyn cannot officially re-sign either of them, but it seems that the intention is there to bring both of them back to the Nets.
The Nets have picked up the $2.15 million team option on guard Malachi Smith's contract for the 2026-27 season so he will be back, though his contract is fully non-guaranteed. Several Georgia Bulldogs fans were curious about why Gunner Stocktonwas snubbed from the top-10 quarterback ratings from the EA Sports video game "College Football 27". Now we know why. Stockton missed the opt-in deadline to enter the game, according to Team Crafters.
The game will release on all platforms on July 9, 2026, but MVP+ members will gain access on July 2. People who preorder the MVP Bundle and Deluxe Edition get it on July 6.
Stockton's most recent rating was a 90 overall on CFB 26 after in the February 17, 2026, update. However, with his absence, Georgia's top-rated signal caller is Ryan Puglisi, with a 77 overall. There isn't any explanation from EA Sports or Stockton on why Stockton didn't meet the opt-in deadline.
Stockton isn't the only marquee player from a Georgia school that didn't opt in. Georgia Tech running back Justice Haynes didn't opt in either, although Georgia Tech's second-best running back is Malachi Hosley, rated at 81.

Benton quarterback Malachi Zeigler has been invited to participate in the 2026 Military Appreciation U.S. Army Bowl Week activities at the Dallas Cowboys headquarters in Frisco, Texas, Dec. 18-20.
The game will be played at the Ford Center and the 4-star SMU commitment told The Times that he will be there.
“I’m extremely honored to have been selected for the Military Bowl,” Zeigler said. “I have countless family members who have served in the nation’s military, so to be able to play with that emblem on my chest means the world. I do plan on playing in the game. I’m looking at it as another chance to compete against high level competition before I step on campus in January.

He made his biggest splash so far April 12: Jake Nawrot, one of the nation's most highly touted 2027 quarterbacks, picked UK over his other three finalists (Iowa, Kansas State and Oregon). Per the 247Sports Composite rankings, Nawrot is the No. 5 QB in the 2027 cycle.
Nawrot isn't the only four-star that Stein and his staff have been able to land. Other blue-chip commits include offensive linemen Ian Walker and Dominic Black, defensive linemen Elijah Brown and Malachi Brown, linebacker Sean Fox, safety Tristen Hughes and cornerback Miles Brown.
Kentucky was also able to flip a unique commit — Tyler Fryman. The four-star wide receiver was originally committed to play baseball at Louisville, but decommitted June 23 and decided to commit to Will Stein and the Wildcats on June 26.

According to a social media post by the game, Ohio State superstar wide receiver Jeremiah Smith will be rated a 99, which is the highest possible score a player in the game can be rated. Moreover, it's the first time since the franchise found its way back on gaming consoles that a player has been rated that high at launch, meaning upon initial drop of the game.
Smith is widely known as the best player in college football (are you listening, Heisman and Biletnikoff voters) and has already put together some gaudy numbers in his first two seasons in the game. He is primed to break almost every receiving record Ohio State has on the books this season and should go down as one of the best to not only wear the Scarlet and Gray but to play receiver in the college game.
While Smith's rating is known, there have been other leaks. It’s been quite the roller coaster of an offseason for Mark Pope and the Kentucky Basketball program. Following a 22-14 season that ended with a blowout in the NCAA Tournament Round of 32. Pope watched much of his roster leave Lexington, then struggled to fill it out when the transfer portal first opened.
Thankfully, Kentucky was able to end it on a high note thanks to the addition of Iowa State star Milan Momcilovic, while also retaining a potential All-SEC center in Malachi Moreno after he tested the NBA Draft waters.
But even the best of offseasons can only do so much when it comes to a coach’s hot seat. Wins and losses are ultimately what affect that the most, and Pope is entering a critical year that could very well decide how his Kentucky tenure goes.
So, we wanted to ask the BBN their thoughts on what it will take to keep Pope off the hot seat this season.

EA Sports continued its ranking release week for College Football 27 on Wednesday by unveiling the top 10 offensive players by position.
While the Colorado Buffaloes did not have any players make the top 10 at quarterback or running back, transfer wide receiver Danny Scudero landed as the game's eighth-best wide receiver. Scudero's top attribute is his change of direction at 93, which is the sixth-best mark at his position.
Scudero begins the year with a 91 overall rating tied with Alabama's Ryan Coleman-Williams and Texas A&M's Mario Craver for the fourth-highest rating for a wide receiver.
Ohio State's Jeremish Smith leads the group with a 99 overall rating, followed by Miami's Malachi Toney (96), Texas' Cam Coleman, Florida State's Duce Robinson, and Rutgers' KJ Buff, who all have 92 ratings.

Stockport County have confirmed the signing of James Bailey after he permanently parted ways with Manchester United.
Earlier this month, United confirmed that Bailey had been released, alongside fellow academy starlets Sonny Aljofree and Malachi Sharpe.
Bailey joined United in 2021 from Burnley and went on to make his Under-18s debut at just 15.
That he made his Under-21s bow only four years later speaks volumes about his rapid development and the high regard in which he was held.
In 2025/26, Bailey made 13 appearances in the U18s Premier League. The teenager contributed one goal, which he netted in September against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Perhaps the most important piece of LSU's talented class is quarterback Peyton Houston. The Louisiana quarterback isn't the highest-ranked recruit in the class, though he's up there. Still, quarterback is a premium position and even in the age of the transfer portal, it's a good idea to sign a talented passer out of high school.

Malachi Zeigler, committed to SMU, is the No. 300 recruit in the class and No. 10 in the state of Louisiana.
