This year hasn't treated Netflix's (NFLX) stock well, and it is down over 18% year-to-date (YTD). It peaked above $108 in April ahead of its Q1 2026 earnings. However, that report triggered a selloff in Netflix, as did the next one. Incidentally, the company did not raise its 2026 guidance in either release, which dampened sentiment and raised fears of a slowdown in the back half of the year.
To be sure, Netflix hasn't had a linear decline this year, and the stock has had its moments. It rallied in late February after the company announced that it was walking away from the bidding war for Warner Bros. Discovery's (WBD) ******* ets. It did not hurt that Paramount Skydance (PSKY) paid a $2.8 billion breakup fee to Netflix for stepping aside from the deal. NFLX hit its 2026 lows following its Q2 2026 confessional but smartly rallied from those levels, in part aided by the disclosure that Bill Ackman's Pershing Square Holdings (PSHZF) took a stake in Q2.

Just one year after his move to Manchester City, Omar Marmoush already appears to be on the move again. The Egyptian is set to join Tottenham in London from the Citizens on loan. That is being reported by The Athletic and Florian Plettenberg.
According to Plettenberg, the loan could also become an obligation to buy in certain cases. If that clause is triggered, Spurs would reportedly have to pay £50 million to Manchester, which is roughly equivalent to €58 million.

Alibaba (BABA) stock fell over 8.5% on Friday after the company announced a massive share sale in Hong Kong to fund its artificial intelligence (AI) investments. The company issued 710 million new shares to raise $10.21 billion in what was the largest-ever primary follow-on ‌offering from a company listed in Hong Kong.
Alibaba priced the shares at an 8.4% discount to its last traded price in Hong Kong. I hope you all will forgive me for spending a portion of my Saturday mornings sorting through various somewhat bleak baseball things in preparation for the coming recap. For instance, today I found myself roaming around looking at the recent game logs for Harrison Grant Holmes and comparing them those of Eduardo Rodriguez (Holmes had a better run recently, at least until today), and then looking at how the Braves as a team hit versus left-handed pitching (10th in the majors, as opposed to 8th vs. right-handers). The Diamondbacks, incidentally, are 2nd in the majors facing lefties, at least in terms of OPS, which was nice to see. But Grant Holmes is not a lefty, so I scrolled down to see how we do against righties, and discovered the rather depressing fact that we rank 29th in the majors in OPS against right-handed pitching. I tend to try to look for something interesting that I could touch on and organize my thinking around, in case a Saturday game goes badly for us, as it feels like they often do.
Anyway. As it turns out, I didn't really need to, though it certainly didn't look like it was going to be that way in the early going. Holmes caught leadoff man Lars Nootbaar looking to start off the game, then got Corbin Carroll to pop out on the infield and Geraldo Perdomo to strike out swinging on three pitches to make short work of the Snakes in the top of the first. Everyone's favorite hologram then came on for the bottom of the frame and gave up hits to the first three batters he faced: a home run to absolutely straightaway center field to Ronald Acuña, Jr., followed by a double to Drake Baldwin and a maddening bloop single just behind shortstop that fell in and advanced Baldwin to third. ERod finally recorded his first out on an Ozzie Albies pop fly to shallow right, but Baldwin crossed the plate on a grounder to second. That wound up being all the damage done, but we were already in a hole and Rodriguez had already thrown 24 pitches. 2-0 Atlanta
Given our dismal 0 for 14 performance last night with runners in scoring position, and given how easily Holmes had disposed of the top of our lineup in the top of the first, it seemed like we were in a very deep hole. But the bottom two thirds of the lineup, perhaps shamed by yesterday's aforementioned dismal performance, were having none of it today. Gabriel Moreno drewa five-pitch walk to lead things off, and was promptly advanced to third by a Max Kepler double into the alley in right center that rolled to the wall. Nolan Arenado grounded out slowly to third, allowing Moreno to score. Then Tim Tawa grounded a single to left, driving in Kepler and tying things back up. But we weren't done! Ildemaro Vargas, starting at second today due to Ketel Marte's gimpy knee, rolled over to second for the second out, but then Ryan Waldschmidt hit an opposite field liner to right that dropped for a single and scored Tawa from second. 3-2 DBACKS

Tennessee starting safety Edrees Farooq is out for the 2026 season after suffering a knee injury in practice on Aug. 14, UT announced.
"Edrees Farooq suffered a season-ending torn patellar tendon in his right knee at practice on Friday morning," UT said in a statement. "We stand with Edrees and support him as he begins the recovery process. We know he will continue to make a strong leadership impact on our team this fall."
Farooq left the practice field in an ambulance and was transported to UT Medical Center. After evaluation, his injury status was updated to season-ending.
It robs the Vols of a returning starter at a critical position in new defensive coordinator Jim Knowles' scheme.
Farooq, a 6-foot, 202-pound junior, was a returning starter and projected to retain that position. Knowles had praised him throughout the offseason. Coincidentally, Knowles recognized Farooq as the defender of the day on his X account about two hours before he suffered the injury.

The No. 69 preseason South Side Sox prospect, Plymell was a 2021 UDFA success, working his way all the way up to Triple-A and having particularly promising stretches at Double-A and Charlotte in 2023-24. Fell off badly with the Knights this season (6.55 ERA in 33 relief innings).

After signing, releasing and re-signing Sims earlier this year, the White Sox are letting him go, again. The 10-year veteran saw nine nondescript games (4.50 ERA) with the big club this season but was godawful in Charlotte.

The five-year veteran signed on with the White Sox in June after being cut by Atlanta, and pitched well for the Knights over 10 games (3.09 ERA, five finishes, two saves). This would seem a move borne of a contract wrinkle or make-good to Guerra, giving him a shot to catch on for the stretch run with someone else.

The Boston Red Sox's nine-game winning streak was snapped on Saturday when they lost 7-3 to the Athletics.
Coincidentally, the last time the Red Sox lost before Saturday was also to the A's. Not only that, but they lost with the same opposing pitcher on the mound: Gage Jump. Jake Bennett was the Red Sox's starter in both games, but he was not as sharp on Saturday.
However, the real story is Jump. He has a 4.46 ERA on the season and has walked 33 batters in 72 2/3 innings of work. He has one of the worst walk rates in baseball and has not been sharp this year overall. Still, in his two starts against the Red Sox, he has carved them up.
On July 28, he went six innings, allowing three hits and no runs. He struck out seven batters but did issue four walks. On Saturday, he delivered another quality start. He allowed two earned runs in six innings of work. He gave up six hits and issued two walks, but he struck out 11 batters, setting a new career high.

The Seattle Seahawks have been decidedly conservative with their training camp practices. Entering Saturday's Lumen Field Football Fan Fest, the Super Bowl champs have held just three padded practices. We ****** ume they'll be in pads for Football Fest, but otherwise perhaps a combination of injuries and Mike Macdonald taking a different approach as reigning champions has led to a change in how this year's camp will look.
Pads or no pads, there was still plenty to glean from Friday's practice. Once again, I'm emptying the notebook with what I saw, with some extra eyes credited to Field Gulls' Bryce Coutts and Seahawks Forever's Dan Viens.
When the Seahawks signed Emanuel Wilson, it was just a "meh" for me, especially when Tyler Allgeier was on the free agent market. When he was with the Green Bay Packers, he looked like a solid backup with not much burst but a willingness to go north-south.
Well, maybe that's what John Schneider wanted.
Wilson in run schemes where the goal is one cut and go north is a more than capable back. He's shown good hands catching passes out in the flat, and I bet in padded practices he'd be pretty physical lowering his shoulder and plowing through defenders. Emanuel had a lot of first-team reps and looked good with his opportunities. Incidentally, the running game was better on Friday than Wednesday, and some of that might also have been going under center more as opposed to a lot of shotgun.

Perhaps this soft-pedal opening was encouraged by the recent Salary Cap Draft at the Fantasy Football Expo. I am in the Jim Brown division this year, and on July 25 I participated in two drafts (one snake, one salary cap) against 13 other skillful industry members. The drafts were fun but competitive, one of the highlights of the year. And although I pride myself on being an experienced and skilled salary cap player, I did not love my results in that draft.
(Coincidentally, I liked my snake draft team a fair amount, but that's a discussion for another day.)

The Baltimore Ravens have ***** embled one of the NFL's deeper groups of pass rushers, but not every edge defender brings the same skill set. Some specialize in winning around the corner. Others thrive with their hand in the dirt. A select few possess the size and athleticism to create mismatches from multiple alignments.
Tavius Robinson belongs in that final category. The third-year linebacker has steadily developed into an important part of the defensive front. Baltimore's top defensive ***** istant, Anthony Weaver, believes one trait separates him from many players at his position.
It's not just his physical ability. It's his willingness to do whatever the defense asks, and do so with a team-first mindset.
Following a third Ravens training camp practice, one the defense coincidentally dominated, Coach Weaver spoke with media members. He was asked about Robinson's ability to generate pressure both on the edge and from inside alignments. Weaver made it clear the Ravens view him as far more than a traditional outside linebacker. "[Tavius Robinson] is a stud. He can do so many things because of his traits, his attitude, his body type. Not everybody is built like that. Picture this: It's December 2033. Puerto Rico's "Huracan Azul," ("Blue Hurricane"), the national soccer team in a country better known for baseball, basketball, and boxing, face off against Scotland in the Deutsche Bank Men's World Cup, brought to you by Fanatics—your home for World Cup swag. Until this winter, Puerto Rico had never qualified for a major tournament; Scotland, meanwhile, had never qualified for the knockout round in a World Cup. As the teams kick off play at Saudi Arabia's NEOM, you idly watch, wondering if an upset will take place.
It won't; Scotland quickly score once, twice, three times. The score is 4–0 by the time the referee whistles for the Michelob ULTRA Hydration Break to take place. It's 5–0 at halftime; Puerto Rico scores a consolation goal before the second hydration break, but the Scots hang three more in the final minutes as the game finishes 8–1. As the game ends, bored spectators streaming out, the camera briefly flashes on the luxury boxes. A grinning Gianni Infantino, the FIFA commissioner, mugs obscenely with the Saudi king and other potentates. History, of a kind, has happened.
If you see nothing wrong with this, you're probably either one of Infantino's staffers or a blood relation. Certainly, Infantino thinks such a display would be amazing. According to The Times of London, the FIFA chief is working closely with Thrive Capital's Joshua Kushner (brother of Jared Kushner!) and JP Morgan on a proposition that would all but radically transform the men's and women's World Cups as we know them, and not coincidentally shovel millions into his acquisitive little mittens. The proposal—now roundly condemned by virtually everyone who's heard about it, including Britain's new prime minister—involves creating a private company that would control the World Cups. Each of FIFA's 211 national member ****** ociations would have a financial stake, estimated at around $20 million each. The Times estimates that the company would be valued at around $20 billion.
The report makes for wild reading. Now, stop for a moment. Think of how quickly and quietly this whole thing went from "consultations" to a set of signed, nonbinding agreements. This isn't an idle contrivance, set for a slow burn; banks like JP Morgan and people like Kushner don't engage in that kind of deal. This is a fast-moving plan of action, set in motion before anyone outside of FIFA's holiest of holies in Zurich even knew what was going down.
Suffice it to say: It's a spectacularly bad idea. The pressure to expand the World Cups, to play them every other year, or even annually, would be immense. The arm twisting to turn them into something that would make college bowl season look staid and decorous would be even greater.

My earliest memory of St James' Park was walking up the narrow cobbled street opposite the Strawberry before being amazed by the brutalist concrete East Stand with its rippled concrete columns supporting the giant cantilever roof.
Incidentally, Faulkner Browns Architects used the rippling concrete effect to "soften" the brutalism.
Personally, I think it does the opposite.
Instead of clean smooth lines we have bites taken out, not just brutal but rough. Awe inspiring architecture to an eight year old.
The beautiful Georgian buildings adjacent were nowhere near as impressive. The city centre was full of classical sandstone buildings with much greater gravitas.

BENGALURU: Rahul Dravid, once a hockey midfielder, famously put away the stick and stuck to weaving magic with the willow. Almost four decades later, with a stick in hand, he can still trap a ball with precision and position a pass well too. The former India captain and coach, who played in the same school team– St. Joseph's Boys High School– as former international hockey players Anil Aldrin and Sandeep Somesh, counts hockey as one of his favourite sports. Speaking at the opening of the inter-college hockey tournament commemorating the platinum jubilee of his alma mater, St Joseph's College of Commerce (SJCC), here on Friday, Dravid reminisced about his days on the hockey field.
"I played a lot of hockey in school. I was fortunate to play with people like Anil Aldrin and Sandeep Somesh for two reasons. Firstly, we were a strong team and won tournaments like Centenary Shield and the Father Eric Vaz inter-school tournaments because of these two guys. Also, it was a good lesson for me because when I watched them play or played with them, I realised that I was better off playing cricket," Dravid joked.

Incidentally, Dravid and Somesh both played as midfielders, while 1996 Atlanta Olympian Aldrin was a defender. The 53-year-old Dravid said hockey had played an important role in his formative years. "I loved playing hockey. It was a great team sport. India has such an incredible history, legacy and tradition in hockey," he said.
Dravid also praised the resurgence of Indian hockey after the men's team secured back-to-back Olympic bronze medals in Paris and Tokyo. "We haven't been able to reach the heights and standards that we had in the past, but I'm glad we have been quite successful in recent times. There is a revival of hockey," he observed.
The two-day five-a-side inter-college hockey tournament, which has attracted 17 teams, has been organised by SJCC's Old Students' ****** ociation (OSA) and Yes For Hockey. The competition is timely for the revival of collegiate hockey, which has declined over the years.
Lauding the efforts of OSA, Dravid said, "They've been very passionate about trying to revive hockey and get more youngsters to play it, which is really important because it's such a phenomenal sport to be a part of. I think it's only going to keep getting better."
Known throughout his playing career for exemplifying sportsmanship, Dravid urged young players to uphold the spirit of the game. "Play in the right spirit, competitively but also with the right sense of camaraderie," he stated, adding, "Not everyone is going to play for the country, but there is so much that sport can give you. The lessons that you learn from sport will carry you for the rest of your life."

Bengaluru: Rahul Dravid, once a hockey midfielder, famously put away the stick and stuck to weaving magic with the willow. Almost four decades later, with a stick in hand, he can still trap a ball with precision and position a pass well too.

The former India captain and coach, who played in the same school team– St. Joseph's Boys High School– as former international hockey players Anil Aldrin and Sandeep Somesh, counts hockey as one of his favourite sports. Speaking at the opening of the inter-college hockey tournament commemorating the platinum jubilee of his alma mater, St Joseph's College of Commerce (SJCC), here on Friday, Dravid reminisced about his days on the hockey field.

"I played a lot of hockey in school. I was fortunate to play with people like Anil Aldrin and Sandeep Somesh for two reasons. Firstly, we were a strong team and won tournaments like Centenary Shield and the Father Eric Vaz inter-school tournaments because of these two guys. Also, it was a good lesson for me because when I watched them play or played with them, I realised that I was better off playing cricket," Dravid joked.

Incidentally, Dravid and Somesh both played as midfielders, while 1996 Atlanta Olympian Aldrin was a defender. The 53-year-old Dravid said hockey had played an important role in his formative years. "I loved playing hockey. It was a great team sport. India has such an incredible history, legacy and tradition in hockey," he said.
Dravid also praised the resurgence of Indian hockey after the men's team secured back-to-back Olympic bronze medals in Paris and Tokyo. "We haven't been able to reach the heights and standards that we had in the past, but I'm glad we have been quite successful in recent times. There is a revival of hockey," he observed.

The two-day five-a-side inter-college hockey tournament, which has attracted 17 teams, has been organised by SJCC's Old Students' **** ociation (OSA) and Yes For Hockey. The competition is timely for the revival of collegiate hockey, which has declined over the years.

How accurate were Washington Commanders quarterbacks to the end zone in 2025?
Well, Warren Sharp of SharpFootballAnalysis.com compiled his data from the 2025 season and ranked, for NFL observers, all the quarterbacks who qualified for a rating. With a 17-game regular season in 2025, Sharp made the minimum number of passes attempted into the end zone at a modest 20.
However, you guessed it: Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, having such an up-and-down season, playing in only seven of the 17 regular-season games, did not meet the minimum of 20 passes into the end zone. Daniels' backup, Marcus Mariota, did meet the minimum requirement and thus made Sharp's 2025 rankings.
It's not good news for Mariota, but then again, with the receivers the Commanders had on the field at times last season, and only recording five wins, it's little wonder that Mariota placed 25th in the rankings, tied with, incidentally, Chicago Bears starter Caleb Williams and ***** ans starter Cam Ward.
Daniels, after a brilliant, exciting 2024 season, cooled off in 2025. Following a 2024 in which Daniels completed 69 percent of his passing attempts, he completed only 60.6 percent in 2025. 25 touchdown passes in 2024 became only 8 last season. Daniels' successful passing rate dropped from 47.1% to 44.7% last season. Yards per attempt lowered from 7.4 YPA to 6.7 YPA. Meanwhile, Mariota had exactly the league minimum of 20 attempts to just get into the rankings.

For this mock draft, we will only project the picks that are definitive at this time. We're only doing the six selections that we know Baltimore will definitely have. According to the league's website, they are likely to be awarded three more compensatory picks: two selections in round five and one in round six.

MUMBAI: Anvay Dravid, the younger son of former India captain and coach Rahul Dravid, top-scored with a whirlwind 87 (67b, 9x4, 1x6), while Arjun Rajput made 76 (81b, 9x4, 1x6) to help the India Under-19 team put up a formidable total of 285 in 47.2 overs against Sri Lanka A in the second Youth ODI in Hambantota on Monday.

After electing to bat first, the India Under-19 team had slipped to 81 for four in the 19th over, before Anvay, a 17-year-old talented 'keeper-batter, rescued the visitors with a mammoth 145-run partnership in just 126 **** for the fifth wicket with Rajput. India Under 19s lost both their openers- skipper Yashbardhan Chauhan (6) and Sagar Virk (4) - with the score reading 11 in the fourth over, following which Kushagra Ojha (38, 45b, 6x4) and VK Vineeth (24 off 45 **** ) added 67 for the third wicket to put the innings back on track.

Batting at No 5, Anvay, walking in with India U-19s at 78 for three in the 17th over, gave India Under-19's some much needed impetus, batting at a strike rate of 129.85, and reaching his half-century off 47 **** .

For the Sri Lanka Under-19s, left-arm seamer Gimhan Mendis took five for 41 in 8.2 overs.

Anvay was out for a 19-ball 14 in the first Youth ODI at the same venue, as the India Under-19s chased down 321 against the hosts to register a four-wicket win.

Incidentally, on Sunday, Anvay's elder brother Samit Dravid did well with bat and ball in a Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 match on Sunday. Samit took two for 23 & scored 40 not out off 28 **** to fashion Bengaluru Blasters' eight-wicket win over Mysore Warriors.

Anvay recently led Karnataka's Under-19 side to the quarter-finals of the Vinoo Mankad Trophy. He scored 220 runs in the tournament - the second-most for his side - averaging 55.00 across six innings. The India Under-19s tour of Sri Lanka includes three one-day matches and two four-day games.

Throwing out the ceremonial first pitch is a nice little tradition before every baseball game, and last night, the entire US Men's National Team got to do so for the Seattle Mariners, ahead of Monday's Round of 16 match against Belgium (the football stadium is across the street from the baseball stadium, incidentally).
Mauricio Pochettino did the honors, and threw a perfect strike.
Let's hope that's a good omen for the US, and they do better than the Mariners would end up doing last night (losing 2-0).
