Bayer Leverkusen striker Martin Terrier (29) could make a return to Ligue 1 after leaving Rennes for Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen two years ago, according to a report from Foot Mercato. The French player, uncapped at international level, only scored seven goals in 44 games played with the Werkself. Terrier's spell in Germany has been marred by injuries, including an Achilles tear last year.

Newcastle continued their pre-season preparations with a 4-1 defeat at Championship side Bristol City on Wednesday night.
Sam Greenwood's curling free-kick put Bristol City ahead before Lorent Tolaj doubled the Robins' advantage before the half-hour mark.
Shortly after the restart, Max Bird's strike extended their advantage and, despite Harvey Barnes pulling one back, a Sven Botman own goal restored the three-goal cushion in the closing stages.
Ashton Gate - including 3,400 travelling Magpies fans - rose as one to conduct a minute's applause in honour of the late Kevin Keegan in the seventh minute, a nod to the number he wore during a terrific playing career.

Sooner or later, Tony D'Amico will deliver a new attacking signing to Gian Piero Gasperini. The question is: How far down his list of targets will he have to go to land a new weapon for Gasperini? With Mason Greenwood heading to Turkey, Alejandro Garnacho to Aston Villa, and Crysencio Summerville to Saudi Arabia, the three players most closely linked to the Giallorossi have now signed elsewhere.
Now, it seems that Roma has zeroed in on Antonio Nusa of RB Leipzig as its new main target. However, the price tag being bandied about for Nusa may be even higher than the reported agreed-upon fee Roma had with West Ham for Summerville. And there appears to be competition from Premier League side Newcastle, which may push the reported €55 million minimum negotiating point higher.
So, with that in mind, D'Amico will have to have be ready to pivot to plan E or F before long. And those appear to be Andreas Schjelderup of Benfica e Said El Mala of Koln. Are fan expectations more elevated than they have been for a while as City approach their 12th successive Championship season? On balance I would say yes, even though the hierarchy at the club say this is the start of a three-year plan to achieve Premier League status.
My mildly positive view is based on the fact that City have done a lot of their transfer activity early rather than in the latter stages of the window.

Fenerbahce said in a statement late Tuesday it will pay Marseille 39 million euros ($44.5 million) and gave the 24-year-old Greenwood a four-year contract.
