Real Madrid have officially announced the presentation of José Mourinho as the new head coach of the first team. Although the Portuguese manager had already spent several weeks overseeing training sessions with the squad, the formal event took place at Real Madrid City.
The event was held in a private setting within the Valdebebas facilities. The club's president, Florentino Pérez, acted as host to welcome the tactician back to the Real Madrid dugout.
During the event, the Portuguese coach signed the contract that will tie him to the Madrid institution for the next three seasons. In this way, the agreement between both parties is set to run until 30 June 2029.
As tradition dictates in this type of event, Mourinho received several institutional gifts from the president. These included a scale replica of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, a commemorative watch and a personalised shirt bearing his name.
The ceremony also featured a highly significant institutional presence. José Martínez 'Pirri', Real Madrid's honorary president, was present at the signing to accompany the new coach at the start of this new chapter at the club.

The brass at Real Madrid have been responsible for the best part of half of the spending on the transfer market in Spain's top-flight across the summer to date.
This of course comes as Florentino Pérez and co. continue work towards building a squad capable of wrestling back La Liga supremacy from arch rivals Barcelona this coming season.
Los Blancos, thus far this summer, have secured the signings of six players. Two have come in the form of free transfers, namely Ibrahima Konaté and Bernardo Silva.
The other four, though, have required those in a position of power at the Santiago Bernabéu to open their chequebook.
To tie up deals for Denzel Dumfries, Marc Cucurella, Yan Diomandé and Carlos Espí, Real Madrid have been forced to part with a collective €225 million. And as since revealed by Spanish outlet Diario AS, putting this outlay into perspective:

The board at La Liga giants Real Madrid are ready to sanction the sales of another pair of the club's up-and-coming young talents. The duo in question? Manuel Ángel, and David Jiménez. That's according to Diario AS, who have this week provided an insight into the situation.
The efforts of the brass at the Santiago Bernabéu on the sales front have of course proven headline news across Spain over the course of the summer to date.
This comes with Florentino Pérez and co. having seen years of diligent work in securing sell-on clauses, percentages and more pay off in spectacular fashion.
To this point in the window, through a combination of new sales and previous clauses, Real have secured major fees for the likes of Nico Paz, Gonzalo García, Víctor Muñoz and Mario Gila.
And as alluded to above, the influx of funds in Spain's capital does not look set to end there, either…

Is the 63-year-old still capable of reaching the heights of his past, or has Real Madrid's president Florentino Perez turned to a manager whose best days are behind him?
Speaking on the More Than The Score podcast, BBC Sport spoke to those who know Mourinho best to **** s whether he can make a success of his second spell with Los Blancos.

Chairman Mark Ashton acknowledges that one of the key lessons from Ipswich's previous Premier League campaign was the need to bring in more athletic players "with a different set of physical attributes".
The midfield lacked power and ball-winning ability in 2024-25, and it is imperative that new arrivals Florentino Luis and Sasa Lukic – both experienced at the highest level – hit the ground running. That will be especially important with last season's mainstays Azor Matusiwa and Jack Taylor doubtful for the opening game following operations over the summer.
It is no surprise that Gary O'Neil is also seeking greater cutting edge given that no Ipswich player scored more than 10 non-penalty goals in the Championship last season.
The Blues broke their transfer record to sign Brazilian striker Emersonn, 22, for an initial £24m. He certainly fits the desired physical profile but is relatively raw, having only established himself as a regular last season at Toulouse, where he scored seven goals in 31 appearances, 22 of them starts.
Daizen Maeda, a hardworking forward or winger, had an excellent record at Celtic, netting 79 times in 212 games, but won't get the same volume of chances in a team battling to stay up.

In the last couple of weeks, there has been increasing speculation surrounding the future of Real Madrid forward Endrick. The 20-year-old is facing a significant lack of minutes during the 2026-27 season after the club confirmed the signings of Carlos Espi, which has led to reports that he could be set for another loan exit.
Endrick has been identified as someone that can operate on the right wing and through the middle for Real Madrid, but with Diomande and Espi respectively having been brought in to address those positions, it has led to questions as to whether the Brazil international will be counted on by head coach Jose Mourinho.
Several clubs have registered their interest in Endrick on the back of this, with the latest being Aston Villa. However, they will not be getting him, with Diario AS reporting that Real Madrid have decided against letting their number 9 depart the club before the end of the summer transfer window.
The decision on Endrick has been made after consultation with Mourinho, who believes the youngster has a significant role in his squad for the upcoming campaign. This has been to the delight of president Florentino Perez, who holds Endrick in high regard, as was shown by the decision to pay €60m for him in December 2022.
Endrick's priority has always been to remain at Real Madrid, as he believes in himself to made an impact. However, he himself does not rule out leaving at some stage if it becomes clear that he is not going to see minutes under Mourinho, but for now, he is happy to stay and fight for his place in the attacking line-up.

Real Madrid approached World Cup winner Rodri with an offer so good, Spanish radio claim it was impossible to refuse. And Rodri, ever the magician, did the impossible again: he refused it.
The report says that Madrid started talking to Rodri just a few days after he won the World Cup with Spain, and that the offer was "really, really good." In fact, they specifically said the offer was "irrechazable" – meaning irresistible or too good to refuse.
The news from the Madrid media was that the capital club had "education, manners, and dignity" in their approach towards the Manchester City star. Madrid were "serious" and put "everything on the table" to try to sign Rodri.
One might wonder if this is a bit of damage control after fans revolted once news broke that the midfielder was actually going to join Barcelona after multiple reports said he was surely going to join Real. This came days after Madrid media had reported Rodri was due to reject Barça as he "only wanted" Madrid… or so they claimed, anyway.
There were rumors before that Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez had to be convinced that signing Rodri was the way forward. For various reasons, it was claimed Pérez resisted the idea initially, before deciding he did in fact want Spain's World Cup hero to wear white after his country won the World Cup with zero Real Madrid players in the squad. (Marc Cucurella signed for Real Madrid after the the tournament had already started.)

Real Madrid are hoping to sign Rodri this summer, although their chances of securing his signature are no longer looking good. They had been firm favourites to win the race after agreeing personal terms with the 2026 World Cup Golden Ball winner, especially after it was reported that he would only consider a move to the Bernabeu, but now, the situation has changed drastically.
On Thursday, it was reported by The Athletic that Barcelona have initiated talks with Rodri's representatives, with the player himself said to be attracted to the prospect of joining Hansi Flick's squad this summer. Negotiations are also said to be underway with Manchester City, and if they get the green light, the Catalan club are likely to move quickly to close an agreement.
To make matters worse, ESPN's Rodra has now reported that Real Madrid are no longer confident of signing Rodri. They are starting to believe that he will not be brought to the Bernabeu this summer, which would open the door for Barcelona to get their man – and in the process, land a significant blow on Florentino Perez and co.
Real Madrid head coach Jose Mourinho has been clear that a new defensive midfielder is a priority for him this summer. He only has Aurelien Tchouameni, Federico Valverde and Arda Guler as players in the position that he is absolutely counting on for the upcoming 2026-27 season, and after missing out on Enzo Fernandez, the signing of Rodri would have been an excellent one.
It would be particularly painful for Real Madrid to lose out on Rodri to Barcelona, but as things stand, that is starting to look like a reality. For now, they are still in the race, although that may not be the case for much longer.

Jose Mourinho is preparing to lead Real Madrid into a new era as he looks to begin his second stint at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Florentino Perez has backed him exceedingly well in the transfer market, bringing in players like Denzel Dumfries, Ibrahima Konate, Bernardo Silva, Carlos Espi and Marc Cucurella.
The club are also pushing to sign Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig and Rodri from Manchester City to further bolster Jose's squad.
Now, according to AS (h/t Madrid Zone), Mourinho's preferred starting XI is beginning to take shape ahead of the new season, with six Real Madrid players establishing themselves as guaranteed starters under the Portuguese manager.
The early weeks of pre-season have already revealed the core of Mourinho's project as he prepares for his first campaign back at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Rodri's potential summer transfer to Real Madrid is 'almost broken' according to SPORT, which cited anonymous sources close to the deal.
Rodri's potential summer transfer to Real Madrid is 'almost broken' according to SPORT, which cited anonymous sources close to the deal.
The main sticking point is a failure to reach an agreement between Manchester City and Real Madrid.
As already reported, the Mancunians see Rodri's asking price as $86.5 million (€75 million), yet Madrid only wants to pay $58 million (€50 million) and perhaps reach the rest in variables.
It is because of Rodri already being in the last 11 months of his contract that Madrid President Florentino Perez seeks a bargain for the 30-year-old with an injury history.

Real Madrid legend and former head coach Jorge Valdano has slammed the club's re-appointment of Jose Mourinho in an interview with one of the leading outlets in the Portuguese's homeland, A Bola.
Succeeding Alvaro Arbeloa, now managing Fulham, Mourinho has taken the reins at the Bernabeu for a second time after previously leading Los Blancos from 2010 to 2013.
Once more, Florentino Perez has hired the two-time Champions League winner to break up FC Barcelona dominance.
Yet Valdano, a highly-respected pundit in Spain who resigned as Sporting Director at Madrid during Mourinho's first tenure, can't get his head around the development.

Barcelona have had two successive seasons of domestic dominance, winning five out of six possible trophies under Hansi Flick.
During the same period, their arch-rivals Real Madrid have not managed to win a single trophy, prompting them to make wholesale changes this summer.
Florentino Perez has brought back Jose Mourinho as their manager and opened the chequebook to reinforce the squad at his disposal.
The club have already wrapped up deals for Denzel Dumfries, Ibrahima Konate, Bernardo Silva, Marc Cucurella and Carlos Espi.
However, arguably their biggest transfer of this summer is yet to be announced, with Yan Diomande set to join them from RB Leipzig for a mammoth fee.

Rodri enhanced his reputation with his performances for Spain at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He led Spain to World Cup glory and his performances during the latter stages of the tournament reminded everyone that the Manchester City midfield mainstay remains one of the premier midfielders in European football. Following the World Cup, Rodri's stock couldn't be higher. However, he was scheduled to have back surgery after the competition. Manchester City have confirmed that Rodri has now undergone back surgery. Also, due to his performances at the World Cup, there are doubts over Rodri's future at City as Real Madrid circle.
In an announcement on mancity.com, it has been confirmed that Rodri has undergone minor back surgery. As per Manchester City's statement, Rodri has been feeling discomfort in his back for some time. The surgery that Rodri has undertaken will alleviate the issue and the Ballon d'Or-winning midfielder will now enter a short period of rehabilitation ahead of joining up with Enzo Maresca's squad for the latter stages of Manchester City's preseason.
Having undergone back surgery, Rodri should be ready to go for the 2026-27 season. Manchester City will need their midfield general ready to go based on how integral he is to their chances next season. However, there is an elephant in the room. A major one. That is will Rodri be at Manchester City for next season? He is in the final 12 months of his contract and Real Madrid are circling one of Manchester City's key ***** ets.
Spanish publication Marca has reported that Real Madrid are looking to sign Rodri this summer. It is reported that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is preparing to push to sign the World Cup winner. Also, it is believed that new Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is eager to add Rodri's leadership, ability in possession, tactical discipline and ability to manage a game to his squad. It now remains to be seen if Real Madrid will begin negotiations with Manchester City to sign Rodri.
Rodri has undergone back surgery on a minor issue. It is hoped that he will be ready for the 2026-27 season following that procedure. It now remains to be seen where Rodri will play next season. That is the biggest question mark surrounding Manchester City's midfield general.

Real Madrid are hoping to complete a blockbuster double transfer in the next few days, as they aim to finalise Jose Mourinho's squad ahead of the 2026-27 La Liga season getting underway in a few weeks' time. A deal for Yan Diomande in close, and following him to the Bernabeu could be Manchester City and Spain midfielder Rodri.
In recent weeks, Real Madrid have turned their attention back to Rodri. They were priced out of a move for leading target Enzo Fernandez, but that could work in their favour as they are closing in on signing one of the world's best midfielders, as well as the recipient of the 2026 World Cup Golden Ball.
Previously, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez had ruled out signing Rodri as retribution for election rival Enrique Riquelme promising to bring the 30-year-old to the Bernabeu, but he's since changed his tune. As per Ramon Alvarez de Mon, he's gave the go-ahead last week for a move to be made for the Man City man, who should be available on a cut-price deal due to being in the final 12 months of his current contract.
Real Madrid believe that a deal can be done imminently, although they may need to raise their offer if they are to convince Man City to sell this summer. Despite already having an agreement on personal terms in place with the former Atletico Madrid and Villarreal midfielder, they have been quoted €80m to get a deal done now, whereas they are presently only willing to pay €50-60m.
It will be interesting to see how the Rodri situation develops over the coming weeks. Real Madrid will hope that Man City relax their stance sooner rather than later, knowing that they are unlikely to be able to agree a new contract with the 2024 Ballon d'Or winner.

Sky Sports reported Real Madrid are now turning their full attention towards signing Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig after FC Bayern showed no interest in accepting any bid for Michael Olise.
According to Sky, FC Bayern closed all doors for negotiations for Florentino Pérez's dream target. As previously reported, Real Madrid's president doesn't want to break the club's good relationship with Bayern by approaching the deal differently.
Thus, after they realized FC Bayern are unwilling to enter discussions, Real Madrid bosses decided to go strong for a fellow Bundesliga winger. PSG were in pole position to sign the Ivorian youngster for weeks, but Real Madrid are now hopeful of completing the deal after their initial €100 million bid was rejected by RB Leipzig on Friday.
Diomande scored 13 goals in his debut Bundesliga campaign with RB Leipzig. Both Olise and Diomande are yet to join their respective team for pre-season preparations due to their participation at the World Cup.

La Liga giants Real Madrid have done a complete 180 on their stance on the potential signing of Manchester City star Rodri.
This comes amid confirmation on the part of some of the most reliable sources in the European media that Los Blancos are now actively working on a deal for the 30-year-old.
Bernabéu insider Mario Cortegana is one such source, with the Spaniard having revealed that the key factor in the wheels being set in motion is a complete change in stance on the part of Florentino Pérez and co.
As per The Athletic:
'Madrid sources had kept insisting this summer that Rodri was not part of their plans, but the club's stance has changed following his return from the World Cup, with the performance level he demonstrated and the role he played in Spain's triumph a factor in their decision to pursue him.'

Manchester City star Rodri had a dream World Cup, winning the Player of the Tournament award and captaining Spain to the ****** le.
He has been very keen on a move to Real Madrid for some time now, with a return to Spain said to be what he desires most at this stage of his career.
Los Blancos, and especially Florentino Perez, have not been too active in their pursuit of the Ballon d’Or winner but are considering his interest.
However, according to The Athletic, the Spanish capital club making a move for Rodri could hinge on how long his back surgery is set to keep him out of action.
He will need an operation on the injury and there is currently no clear date for his return. That uncertainty could become a decisive issue in any possible move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

The situation surrounding the future of Rodri at Manchester City continues to evolve. It did seem that as much as the Ballon d’Or-winning midfielder wanted a move to Real Madrid, the La Liga giants were not interested in signing him this summer. Fabrizio Romano reported on his YouTube channel that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has no interest in signing Rodri. However, a new report has emerged that indicates that perhaps Real Madrid are now interested in signing arguably Manchester City’s most important player. Whatever occurs with Rodri’s future this summer, Manchester City do need a speedy resolution to the situation before it drags on for far too long.
Fabrizio Romano reported that Rodri does indeed want a move to Real Madrid at some point. However, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez had no interest in bringing Rodri to the club. However, that situation may have changed. Matteo Moretto has reported that Florentino Perez is becoming open to the possibility of signing Rodri. Furthermore, it is also reported that personal terms between Rodri and Real Madrid are considered to be a formality. Lastly, it is also reported that at this stage, negotiations between Real Madrid and Manchester City over a deal that will see Rodri sign for the 15-time UEFA Champions League winners have yet to commence.
The situation surrounding Rodri threatens to be a distraction for Manchester City. Rodri will enjoy a period of holidays following his efforts at the World Cup with Spain. Manchester City’s midfield general helped his country claim their second World Cup crown and he was named as the player of the tournament. While Rodri rests, his future is now a major topic to watch for in the coming days and weeks. It is also a situation that could shape the remainder of the summer transfer window for Manchester City.
Rodri is contracted with City for next season. He is entering the final twelve months of his current deal. Manchester City are eager to sign him to an extension, but for now, there hasn’t been any movement on that front. As Matteo Moretto reports, Real Madrid are yet to enter into negotiations with City to sign Rodri. Nor has Rodri indicated to City that he wants to leave this summer. But Rodri’s contract situation does raise the possibility of him leaving City sooner than anticipated.
However, the best scenario for Manchester City is that Rodri provides clarity on his intentions in a timely manner. The longer the situation drags on, that doesn’t really suit anyone. Typically, the FA Cup and Carabao Cup holders do not keep players that don’t want to be at the club. Unless that player was Bernardo Silva. If Rodri informs City that he wants to leave this summer, and if Real Madrid do make their move, the sooner that process begins, the quicker a resolution can be found, whatever that may be.

Real Madrid have one major issue to sort out this summer, with Los Blancos still not certain whether Vinicius Junior will renew his contract at the club.
His future at the Spanish club has been under scrutiny for a while now, with Florentino Perez making it a priority to extend his contract before moving for a player like Michael Olise.
The Brazilian has created fresh uncertainty around his Real Madrid future after removing visible references to the club from his social media profiles.
As reported by Defensa Central, Vinicius has changed his profile image to black, removed any mention of Real Madrid from his biography and no longer has club-related posts pinned on Instagram.
Recent references to Madrid are also very limited, with only farewell posts to David Alaba and Dani Carvajal visible on his handle.

Fulham have confirmed the appointment of Álvaro Arbeloa as their new head coach, with the former Real Madrid manager signing a three-year contract at Craven Cottage.
The 43-year-old replaces Marco Silva, who left the west London club to take charge of Benfica after five years in charge of the Cottagers. Fulham had explored several candidates during their search, including Thomas Frank and Kieran McKenna, before turning to the Spaniard.
Arbeloa arrives after a brief spell in charge of Real Madrid's first team. Initially promoted from the club's academy setup on an interim basis following Xabi Alonso's departure, he oversaw the final 28 matches of the season, guiding Los Blancos to a second-place finish in La Liga before their Champions League campaign ended in the quarter-finals.
The former Liverpool, West Ham and Real Madrid defender is no stranger to English football, having enjoyed successful spells in the Premier League during his playing career. Reports suggest his appointment was backed by strong recommendations from Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez and José Mourinho, who recently returned to the Spanish giants.
Speaking to the club's media team, Arbeloa said: "It is a real honour for me to be embarking on this new stage at Fulham FC, the oldest club in London. I feel a great sense of responsibility and I'm deeply grateful to Mr. Khan and Tony Khan for the trust they have placed in me with Fulham in the Premier League.

Following the departure of Dani Carvajal as a free agent, Los Blancos were left with Trent Alexander-Arnold as their only senior option on the right of defence.
The aforementioned Dumfries, in turn, was quickly earmarked as a priority signing by Florentino Pérez and co.

While being worried about their underwhelming performances in the last two seasons, Real Madrid must also be delighted with how some of their biggest stars are performing at the World Cup 2026. The likes of Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, and Vinicius Junior are all shining for their respective teams in the tournament, and the Merengue club is leading in terms of goals scored and MOTM awards won by its players.
Howover, these good performances from one of these players, Vinicius Junior, are creating quite a paradoxical situation for the white club. They are undoubtedly happy for him getting back to his best form, but are also worried on why he has not been able to replicate this form with the Real Madrid shirt.
Meanwhile, they also understand that this return to form would improve the player’s bargaining position in the upcoming contract renewal negotiations, which are expected to resume after the end of the World Cup. Still, the Merengues are calm about the situation, and already have a strategy in mind for this operation that they are looking to continue following.
Meanwhile, according to Diario AS, Vinicius himself is conveying a message of calm to his Brazil national team teammates, and is confident that he will reach an agreement with the club for a new contract. He does not want to leave Real Madrid for any other side, but will make a final decision after listening to what the Merengue club has to offer him.
In such a context, a lot would depend on his impending meeting with Florentino Perez, an individual for whom the Brazilian has a lot of respect and regard. It remains to be seen how things would develop in this aspect after the World Cup, but with the way he is playing in the World Cup, everyone would want to have Vinicius Junior in their team, especially Real Madrid fans.

In the coming weeks, Jose Mourinho will take charge of his first pre-season since returning as Real Madrid head coach. The Portuguese made his triumphant return to the Bernabeu 13 years after his first spell in charge came to an end, and he hopes to be the one that turns things around after a dismal couple of years.
The last major trophy won by Real Madrid was the 2023-24 Champions League over two years ago. Since then, they have been comfortably second-best to Barcelona in La Liga, while they were bested by ***** nal and Bayern Munich in Europe, both times at the quarter-final stage. They cannot afford to go another season without success, which is why Florentino Perez has turned to Mourinho.
Many current Real Madrid players have welcomed Mourinho’s return, and now former star Joselu Mato has had his say on Iker Casillas’ Bajo los palos podcast. As per MD, the veteran striker also believes the Portuguese can be the right man at the right time, given that he will command a lot of authority in the dressing room.
“Mourinho is a coach with a lot of character, with ideas that Madrid need because they need a change and he is a coach who has what it takes to put people in their place. Can he be the best option? We won’t know that until the months go by. But Real Madrid need discipline, especially within the dressing room. A club like Real Madrid cannot afford to go two years without winning any ***** le.”
The last 12 months under Xabi Alonso and the Alvaro Arbeloa showed that Real Madrid need a manager that can manage a dressing room – especially one with big egos. Mourinho is very capable of this, but it remains to be seen whether that is enough to get things back on track at the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid have been busy this summer, with four new signings having already been added to Jose Mourinho’s squad for the 2026-27 season. However, they won’t be done there, with plans for further players to arrive alongside Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, Marc Cucurella and Bernardo Silva.
A new centre-back and midfielder are wanted, with Alessandro Bastoni and Enzo Fernandez respectively believed to be the leading candidates for these positions. However, president Florentino Perez is also dreaming of signing Michael Olise, whom he sees as the perfect player to complete the Real Madrid attack.
Until now, it has seemed very unlikely that Real Madrid would have any chances of signing Olise, with Bayern Munich having no plans to sell. However, a window of opportunity could open up according to Christian Falk, who has claimed that the French winger does not want to sign a new contract at the Bundesliga champions.
“The Michael Olise situation is getting a little bit dangerous for Bayern Munich. There are rumours around the Frenchman, where the people around him are allegedly saying that he knows he can always win the league with FC Bayern, but he’s already done this, and now he has the DFB Pokal also under his belt. The Champions League, meanwhile, is perhaps a little more difficult to win at Bayern Munich.
“There are rumours he’d like to make a transfer somewhere else, and that Real Madrid is the club he should be dreaming of. Olise doesn’t talk much, so you never know if the rumours are true. Still, the people who are talking are supposedly really close to him. This could be a problem for Bayern, because everyone knows that dissatisfied players are not good players. I don’t see the France international signing a new contract at Bayern in the near future.“

Kylian Mbappe is reportedly playing an active role in Real Madrid’s transfer plans, with fresh reports suggesting the French superstar wants Michael Olise to join him at the Santiago Bernabeu.
According to El Chiringuito TV, the Real Madrid forward is attempting to persuade his international teammate to consider a move to Spain as speculation surrounding a potential Michael Olise Real Madrid transfer continues to gather pace.
The rumours have already created concern at Bayern Munich, where club officials have publicly dismissed the possibility of losing one of their most important players.
The Michael Olise Real Madrid links have intensified in recent weeks following claims that Florentino Perez views the Bayern Munich winger as a potential Galactico signing.
Reports have even suggested that Real Madrid could be prepared to invest more than €200 million to secure the services of the France international.

Real Madrid may have a captaincy debate to resolve this summer. It looked like Federico Valverde was the chosen one to be Los Blancos’ captain going forward.
However, it has now emerged that Vinicius Jr is also desperate to wear the armband and that Florentino Perez is not convinced by the Uruguayan’s captaincy credentials.
Speaking on Radioestadio Noche, Alberto Pereiro said, “I have the feeling that there’s a pending conversation about the captaincies at Madrid.”
“Florentino is not at all convinced about Valverde’s captaincy.”
This is quite surprising because Valverde has long been viewed as one of the future captains of the Spanish giants.
