"One company, GE Vernova, which was hit incredibly hard, which actually builds these, was saying they're seeing an order acceleration. So I really doubt the idea there's going to be a decel. Now that stock got hammered yesterday, it's been a horrendous stock since we started getting this political controversy. But again I point out that you just hear no one say anything about pullback."

The debate revolves over stock tokens and has evolved from a heated social media post on September 3 to a live televised retort by September 9.
Robinhood Markets, Inc. (NASDAQ:HOOD) expanded its tokenized shares offering, which is issued through a unit named Robinhood ****** ets (Jersey) Limited and traded on Robinhood's proprietary blockchain, Robinhood Chain, to include over 190 public firms, including AMC, without the companies directly signing on. When AMC CEO Adam Aron discovered that his company was among them, he did not mince words. On September 3, Aron posted on X, calling the practice "contemptible, outrageous, disgusting, detestable, inexcusable, vile," questioning how it could possibly be legal, and stating that AMC Entertainment Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:AMC) had no relation to the tokens and did not condone them.
He stated that the company would retain independent securities counsel and vowed to take the matter to the SEC, characterizing Robinhood's tokens as an unregistered securities product that undermines the regular relationship between a public company and its shareholders.
The market reaction was fast and telling: AMC shares rose as much as 21% in overnight trading after the public dispute broke out.
Robinhood did not back down. Macklemore on Wednesday pledged to donate the "entire $1 million" of his net earnings from Ed Sheeran's Loop Tour to Palestinian relief organizations, days after he was dropped from the tour over his pro-Palestinian comments.

Former India cricketer Madan Lal reacted after the Indian women's cricket team did not accept the Asia Cup trophy from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairman Mohsin Naqvi after winning the ***** le on Sunday.

(NASDAQ:GILD) filed suit against a number of companies, including third-party administrator Meritain Health, pharmacy benefit manager ProAct, and pharmacies Rx Valet and Advanced Pharmacy, alleging illegal imports of its best-selling HIV drug Biktarvy.
The dispute dates back to December 2024, when Gilead Sciences, Inc. (NASDAQ:GILD) sued a group of companies, including third-party administrator Meritain Health, pharmacy benefit manager ProAct, and pharmacies Rx Valet and Advanced Pharmacy, alleging illegal imports of its top-selling HIV drug Biktarvy. The lawsuit arose from a specific instance in which a patient in Maryland received the medicine in the mail from Turkey, with label instructions written in Turkish.
A federal district court in Baltimore ruled in Gilead's favor and ordered a preliminary injunction, determining that the company was likely to succeed on its Lanham Act trademark violation and unfair competition arguments. As the case continued, the injunction was increased to include new sellers like CanaRx, ElectRx, and ScriptSourcing. The defendants filed an appeal with the Fourth Circuit, and the district judge declined to suspend the injunction while the appeal was pending, thus the import restriction has been in effect the entire time. The recent ruling maintains the order rather than overturning it.
In court documents, Rx Valet stated that the Turkish-sourced Biktarvy was chemically identical to the US version, which was offered at a significantly higher price. After an epic 11-inning win Friday night against the Phillies, the Braves were hoping to finish them off in the division race. They got a bit of a boost from the Phillies scratching Jesus Luzardo with long-running shoulder soreness.
Tyler Mahle cruised through the first two hitters before Bryce Harper hit a monster homer and took a comical amount of time rounding the bases, clearly hitting back at the controversy from Zach Wheeler's comments about Ronald Acuna's home run celebrations last week. The Phillies had to be feeling good with a 1-0 lead for a couple innings there, until the Braves essentially ended the game with 8 runs in the fourth inning. Mahle continued to cruise after that Harper homer, finishing 7.0 innings of 1-run ball with no walks, even though he only had 7 whiffs and 3 strikeouts. The Braves added another run on in the sixth with a Ronald ABS strikeout-turned-walk, an error on an Olson ground ball, and an Ozzie sac fly. The Phillies got one back with a solo homer from Crawford in the eighth against Brent Suter. The Braves got another 3 runs against the position-player pitcher for Philly in the eighth, as Kiersey singled, Albies doubled, and Harris hit a homer off the right field foul pole. Suter finished off the Phillies in the ninth, as the Braves only needed to throw Mahle and Suter on the night. The Phillies' bullpen is in rough shape on the other side, after the 11-inning game Friday and the blowout bullpen game they suffered today.

Belgium took the wind out of the United States men's national team's sails this summer during the 2026 World Cup. Before that humbling 4-1 defeat in the Round of 16, a controversial decision from FIFA effectively made the USMNT an enemy, at least according to Belgium defender Thomas Meunier.
The 35-year-old Meunier, who has 83 caps for Belgium and just represented the country in his third World Cup, explained to The Athletic that, because of head-turning call to suspend Folarin Balogun's red-card suspension, "everyone wanted us to beat America."
"Everyone wanted them to be eliminated," he added more than two months after the July 6 match, per The Athletic.
Balogun himself has admitted that, even though he was relieved to be on the pitch for the knockout match, hearing that he'd be part of the squad was bittersweet.

This is a hard one because while Aston Villa still haven't won or scored in the Premier League, they got a good win over Club Brugge in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Nicolas Jackson got off the mark in that game and, although his finishing can be erratic, he's the kind of player who will mature and get better every season. I think he will do well for them.
Forest are also yet to win. I know there was controversy over Neco Williams' disallowed goal in their draw against Tottenham last time out but I do think they got the decision right in the end.
This is going to be close and I am tempted to go for another Forest draw, but Villa are obviously going to score in the Premier League at some point so I'll be brave and say they will edge it.

Former Australia opener David Warner found himself in a playful social media exchange with England's famous fan group, the Barmy Army, on Friday, and the banter quickly moved from Saim Ayub's ducks to Marnus Labuschagne's century drought, England's curfew troubles and Warner's long-running Stuart Broad problem.

It all started when the Barmy Army took a dig at Warner after Pakistan batter Saim Ayub registered a pair of ducks in the final Test against England at Edgbaston. The England fan group posted a statistic pointing out that Ayub had now registered a pair twice on English soil.
Replying to the Barmy Army, Warner wrote: "Interesting stat. When was the last time I went 42 innings without a Test hundred??"
The reference was not actually about Warner. The 42 innings was a cheeky dig at former Australia teammate Marnus Labuschagne, who had gone through a lengthy drought without a Test century. Labuschagne's last Test hundred came against England at Headingley in 2023, and his drought had stretched to 42 innings.

But he wasn't finished. Then came the curfew dig.

Warner followed his 42-innings reference with another jab: "Oh do you guys still have a curfew? Asking for a mate."

That was a reference to England's recent off-field disciplinary issues involving players breaking team curfew and going out drinking. The issue had become a talking point around the England setup, with fast bowler Brydon Carse among the players caught up in the recent controversy.

Steven Spielberg may soon say goodbye to his equestrian ranch in Los Angeles.
Closer has learned that the famed Hollywood filmmaker, 79, has listed his seven-bedroom, 11-bathroom property for just under $30 million after purchasing the ranch back in 1999 for $5.35 million.
The 6,219-square-foot property was at the center of controversy shortly after he and wife Kate Capshaw made the purchase because the director wanted to build a five-story horse-riding ring despite pushback from their Brentwood neighbors.
"It's just astounding and obnoxious," land-use attorney John Murdock, who represented several residents at the time, told the ***** ociated Press in 2000. "They're cutting out half the hillside to put in this riding ring … the structure is completely alien to the area."
The riding ring was intended to be a 27,000-square-foot building that would've been about six times the size of a typical home in the area and cost more than $7 million to build, according to the AP.

It's year two for K.C. Keeler at Temple. He went 5-7 in his first year in Philadelphia. What do you make of his fit at Temple and what are expectations for the Owls the rest of this season?
K.C. Keeler has already proven to be an excellent fit at Temple. His résumé speaks for itself, and he is a proven winner even with a lack of resources. He won FCS national championships at both Delaware and Sam Houston, but his 10-win season at Sam Houston in year two of FBS membership might be his magnum opus. Additionally, he's a great fit since he has publicly declared this will be his final job, which promises Temple players and staffers a sense of stability.
Keeler walked into Philadelphia last year and immediately turned Temple into a 5-win team, after the Owls hadn't won more than three games in the entire 2020s. Temple fell one point short of both service academies, and flipping either result would have pushed the program into the postseason.
Temple played incredibly sound football in Keeler's first season, only losing four turnovers the entire year. The Owls should have lofty expectations considering they didn't lose a single starter to the transfer portal. However, they lack experience at quarterback and replacing Evan Simon is no easy task, which could present some challenges offensively. I would label bowl eligibility as a reasonable and attainable goal for this 2026 team.

Texas A&M coach Mike Elko does not expect the SEC's escalating dispute with LSU to end with the Tigers being removed from the conference. During Wednesday's Aggie Football Hour, Elko compared the public standoff to a child testing a parent's limits before quickly backing down.
The SEC is no longer expected to vote Thursday on LSU's membership after the school finalized its 105-player football roster without former NFL players Dae'Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris. The controversy escalated after a Louisiana judge issued a preliminary injunction that opened the door for Wright, Harris and other athletes to regain their college eligibility. "This is a little bit like the son figuring out where the limits are until dad comes home and raises his voice, and then the son goes, 'I was just kidding, I didn't mean any of that,'" Elko said.

The dramatic ending to the formerly 16th-ranked Wolverines' 13-12 win over Western Michigan — with a disputed second on the clock that gave Bryce Underwood another chance to complete a Hail Mary — has been one of the most talked about topics in sports for nearly a week.
"That was a crazy game," said Sooners linebacker Cole Sullivan, who transferred from Michigan after last season.
The conclusion and fallout from Michigan's last game has overshadowed, to some degree, how poorly it played in all three phases during coach Kyle Whittingham's debut with college football's winningest program.
"We got plenty to fix," Whittingham said.

A TikTok video that criticized mission trips as white saviorism brought attention to a controversy surrounding short-term volunteering trips and religious involvement in humanitarian work.
The video, "Mission trips are useless vacations, NOT activism," was posted by Kylie Brewer.
In her caption, Brewer wrote: "Donate that money to commükities that need itent and stop acting like you're a great person just for going to Africa."
In the video, Brewer called out a mission trip that combined music and photos of children.
"Song is so funny that you chose because it's 'willing and able,' but then you're showing a bunch of pictures of very healthy-looking, happy, smiling children," Brewer said. "The only difference between them and you is the fact that they have melanin and are black, and you are white. So the fact that you're like, 'oh, hashtag mission trip, I love helping everyone!' And all the comments are saying, 'oh my god, you're such a great person,' really shows how much this practice is rooted in white saviorism."

It has been nearly three months since Alex Pereira's bid to become a UFC champion in a third weight class came to a brutal halt at UFC Freedom 250. Ciryl Gane delivered a statement-making performance to score a second-round knockout in the historic White House co-main event.
The win was a huge moment for Gane, who became just the second fighter in UFC history to win two interim ***** les in the same division. More importantly, it put the French heavyweight in line for a highly anticipated rematch with undisputed champion Tom Aspinall.
However, much of the post-fight discussion wasn't about Gane's performance. Instead, the spotlight quickly turned to the 11 finishing shots he landed on Pereira, with seven appearing to connect to the back of the head and being deemed illegal.

Stop me if you've heard this over the past 48 hours: the broadcast clock is not the official game clock.
On Saturday night, Michigan's season-opening matchup against Western Michigan went from a college football game to an all-time timekeeping scandal.
Michigan Wolverines quarterback Bryce Underwood launched a Hail Mary out of the end zone as the clock hit triple zeroes. The Western Michigan Broncos thought they'd pulled off the 12-7 upset. After review, officials concluded one second remained on the clock, giving Michigan a second chance. Underwood found JJ Buchanan for the game-winning touchdown, shrouded in controversy.
On the NBC broadcast, rules ***** yst Terry McAuley was flabberghasted by that phantom second. The Big Ten released a formal statement, including the official internal video used for review. On Sunday, NBC's John Fanta stated, "The official time of the game is kept by the Big Ten. Our cameras are not the official arbiter of timekeeping within the game."
By Monday night, ESPN's broadcast of Florida State and SMU experienced a lengthy delay due to a power outage at Doak Campbell Stadium. Finally, officials surmised they'd restored enough light and power to play the game, but with several caveats. No replay, no scoreboard, no PA announcer, and no coach-to-play communication.
