Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., on Sunday downplayed concerns that President Donald Trump may have violated the Constitution when reporters from Politico, MS NOW and CNN were banned from covering the White House on Saturday.
Asked directly whether the president had violated the Constitution, Barrasso said, “No, I believe the press has an obligation to report fairly.”
Pressed again on whether he agreed with Trump’s ban, Barrasso said, “We all respect and value the freedom of the press — it’s in the Constitution.”
“He was banned from Twitter. He was banned from Facebook, and I didn’t see people come to his defense,” the Wyoming senator told NBC News’ “Meet the Press.” “So it goes both ways. The press has an obligation to report fairly, and the president doesn’t see it happening that way.”
Pressed on whether the president’s decision to ban the reporters from White House coverage violated the First Amendment, Barrasso demurred, saying again, “I believe the press has an obligation to report fairly.”

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump has agreed to a significant portion of a stringent ethics proposal that is part of broader cryptocurrency legislation headed for a key vote this week, according to three of the bill's main Republican authors.
The sweeping bill initially had just a provision included that would bar all federally elected officials and their spouses, as well as federal judges, from issuing digital ***** ets.
A core group of Democrats, as well as Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., said that didn't go far enough to address conflict-of-interest issues they had with Trump's crypto wealth. Their votes would be needed to advance the bill in a key vote this Tuesday.
Tillis and Sen. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., along with several other Democrats, had demanded language that would allow state attorneys general to step in and enforce the law in addition to the Justice Department.
In announcing Trump's agreement, Republican Sens. Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming, Tim Scott of South Carolina and John Boozman of Arkansas said it includes a "meaningful role" for state attorneys general to play in enforcing the crypto measure should it become law.

Various social media accounts posted videos showing Wyoming defensive lineman Jayden Williams pushing at least one person as CSU fans rushed the field after the Rams won to secure the Bronze Boot trophy.
Several posts on social media with videos showed Williams pushing a fan. Wyoming coach Jay Sawvel responded to the incident in his weekly press conference on Sept. 7, saying it has "been addressed."
"I've seen the Jayden video, been made aware of it. Made aware of it first, watched it. Watched it a couple different times. It's been addressed and will be addressed further in house. Obviously, we don't condone that from players to fans or anything from that standpoint. That will be something we address team wide, as well," Sawvel said, according to a report from Kaycee Clark-Mellott from KGWN TV.

BMO Financial Group has closed the sale of 138 branch locations to First-Citizens Bank & Trust Company.

For more than three hours on Saturday night, Jim E. Mora watched his son's coaching debut for the Rams through the dual lens of a father and longtime coach.
The dad in him couldn't have been more proud as Jim L. Mora led the Rams to a 35-13 win over Wyoming. The coach in him, though, felt nervous and uneasy at times before Colorado State pulled away in the second half.

Wyoming's Republican Gov. Mark Gordon voiced concerns about the Justice Department election monitors who observed the primary election in his state last week, saying he's asked his attorney general to look into their "aggressive" behavior.
The Justice Department sent two Civil Rights Division attorneys to Laramie County, Wyoming, which includes the state capital of Cheyenne. But some officials, including the state attorney general, weren't made aware of the move in advance, Gordon said at a state canvassing board meeting Wednesday.
"It sounded like the behavior of the observers was a bit aggressive," Gordon said, adding, "It just was irregular and, and I have asked the attorney general to start looking into … the nature of the visits and all that sort of stuff."
The DOJ, when reached for comment, pointed CNN to an August 18 statement from Wyoming US Attorney Darin Smith: "Voters deserve absolute confidence that their ballots are secure and their voices are heard without interference…. We are working alongside local officials to ensure every lawful vote is protected."
CNN has reached out to the governor's office for comment.

Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh reaffirmed the central bank's commitment to lowering consumer prices, acknowledging that inflation remains too high in a highly anticipated speech in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
During remarks at the Fed's annual conference, Warsh said that recent government data shows inflation has cooled, but "they do not tell me that underlying trends have meaningfully improved."
While stopping short of saying the Fed could raise its benchmark interest rate, Warsh also signaled that policymakers are prepared to act if inflationary pressures don't subside. Inflation has eased in recent months after reaching a 3 -year high in May, but prices remain stubbornly above the Fed's 2% annual target.

Aug 27 (Reuters) - Two Federal Reserve officials on Thursday shared their ongoing concerns about the U.S. inflation outlook, as central bankers gathered in Jackson Hole, Wyoming for the Kansas City Fed's closely watched annual economic symposium.
Inflation is "still stubborn and it's still sticky and we've ‌got to continue to find ways to break through" and get it back to 2%, Kansas City Fed President Jeffrey Schmid said on CNBC ‌on the sidelines of the conference.
He noted that the U.S. central bank's current 3.50%-3.75% policy rate did not appear to be restrictive.
"I don't know what we're restricting currently with the rate policy that we're at today," Schmid said.

Iran's currency hit a record low as the U.S. prepared to announce new sanctions to try to break the impasse with Iran, adding pressure when its economy is already battered by earlier sanctions and a U.S. naval blockade.
The rial dropped to 2.02 million to the U.S. dollar on informal currency markets. Iran's official Central Bank rate stood at around 1.5 million rial to the dollar, but the informal rate is what most Iranians pay.
In early European trading, Germany's DAX edged 0.1% lower to 26,110.79, while the CAC 40 in Paris also gave up 0.1%, to 8,474.35. Britain's FTSE 100 inched up 0.1% to 10,831.33.
The future for the S&P 500 was down 0.2%, while that for the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.1%.

Aug 21 (Reuters) - The U.S. government on Friday finalized a plan to slash water supplies to California, Nevada and Arizona to manage the drought-stricken Colorado River.
The ‌three so-called lower basin states will take around a 21 percent reduction in ‌water from the river in 2027 and 2028, but potential cuts could nearly double in following years, according to the plan signed by Interior Secretary Doug Burgum.
Arizona and Nevada have said any plan to double the cuts after 2028 would devastate their economies. Arizona has threatened to sue the federal government if it imposed these potential cuts as part of the new 10-year plan.
Colorado, Utah, ‌New Mexico and Wyoming, the ⁠upper basin states, face no mandatory cuts under the plan. The Colorado River provides water to one in 10 Americans, irrigates land producing 15% ⁠of U.S. food output and generates power for 6 million people in seven states.
In three years of failed negotiations between the seven states, upper basin states refused to take cuts, arguing they face automatic cuts in water supply due to the severe drought impacting the U.S. West.

On August 11, Aramark (NYSE:ARMK) reported fiscal third-quarter results that beat expectations on nearly every line, with organic revenue climbing 9% to $5 billion and adjusted earnings per share jumping almost 30% from a year earlier. The company also raised its full-year revenue growth outlook and pointed to a growing footprint inside AI data centers as its next act. A closer look at the numbers shows some of that strength leaning on adjustments and calendar quirks that are worth understanding before getting too excited.
Aramark's growth is broad and not dependent on one segment. Organic revenue in the Food and Support Services/FSS US segment rose 8% to $3.5 billion, and would have topped 10% if not for a calendar shift in the education business that pushed some revenue into the fourth quarter. FSS International organic revenue rose 11% to $1.5 billion, led by strong performance in Spain, Canada, the UK, and Germany, contributing to nearly 200 new client locations added globally during the quarter. Client retention sits near 98%, and the company has landed more than $1.6 billion in new client wins so far this fiscal year, 51% ahead of the same stretch a year ago.
The more interesting story sits inside Aramark Nexus, the unit built to serve hospitality needs at data centers and industrial sites. Aramark began operating its first site for a major hyperscaler in Texas just weeks before the earnings call, and management said the scope of work across that client's two locations has already grown roughly 40% beyond original estimates. A second site is being mobilized, and Aramark separately signed a multiyear deal with an AI data center colocation provider to run hospitality services for workforce communities in Wyoming and Texas, with the first site set to open early in the next fiscal year. If AI infrastructure spending keeps expanding the way it has, Aramark has positioned itself as a landlord of sorts for the workers building it.
Not every number tells as clean a story. Aramark's GAAP earnings per share came in at $0.36 for the quarter, well below the $0.52 adjusted figure the company highlighted, a reminder that a meaningful chunk of the improvement comes from items management chooses to exclude. The calendar shift created an estimated $18 million to $19 million drag on adjusted operating income this quarter, temporarily weighing down reported growth rates across the international and domestic food segments. That means the reported 13% AOI growth and 9% revenue growth both come with an asterisk, making quarter-over-quarter comparisons harder to trust at face value.
