Louis Vuitton presented its Spring 2027 collection, designed by Nicolas Ghesquière, at the Cour Carrée du Louvre in Paris, and as always, I noticed a few trends in the front row.
Emma Stone and Ana de Armas tend to play it relatively safe with their Louis Vuitton front row looks, so both were welcome surprises. Emma's electric-blue tailoring had a stronger silhouette than we usually see from her, while Ana went tougher in black leather with cut-outs and buckled detailing. Two welcome changes of pace. Did either woman pull her look off for you?
The front row had plenty of New York representation, with Jennifer Connelly joining Keri Russell, Chloë Sevigny and the Haim sisters.
There's a lot going on with Jennifer Connelly's look, including some seriously divisive lace-up boots, but on Jennifer it works. It always works. She has never played it safe with Louis Vuitton, and I don't ever want her to.
Keri Russell will always serve up a sophisticated, sculptural point of view, and she found the perfect Louis Vuitton look. The only thing not working for me is the monogram bag. I wish it had been black.

GUILFORD - New seasons bring new faces. Those new faces could determine the success or failures of teams.
For the Guilford football team, it was a mix of new and old which made a difference in its season opener against Amity.
Behind 86 yards and a touchdown on the ground by junior Shane Connelly, 123 yards and a touchdown in the air by sophomore quarterback Ryan Lynch and a tough as nails defense, Guilford topped Amity 21-7 in a Southern Connecticut Conference contest at Kavanaugh Field at Guilford High Thursday evening.
"We practiced, we knew what they were going to do," Connelly said. "We knew their concepts, and what they were planning to do on us. I think we handled it perfectly."
For Amity, it was the story of missed opportunities as the Spartans could not capitalize until Colt Snowden connecting with Tyler McDaniel on a 10-yard touchdown with 4 minutes, 40 seconds remaining in the game to cut the deficit to 14 points.

Red Sox Face Daunting Doubleheader Challenge Against Yankees Aces originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Boston Red Sox could not solve Cam Schlittler on Friday night. Their reward is a Saturday date with two of the New New York Yankees' top pitchers.
New York will activate Max Fried from the injured list to start the second game of Saturday's doubleheader at Yankee Stadium. Carlos Rodón will start the opener against Red Sox left-hander Connelly Early.
Fried's return comes exactly 15 days after the Yankees placed him on the injured list, allowing him to return following a minimum-length absence. The timing presents another difficult test for Boston's struggling lineup.
The Red Sox entered Saturday after being shut out in consecutive games. They dropped Friday's series opener 1-0 despite recording five hits and drawing six walks against New York's pitching staff. Boston went 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position and stranded 10 runners. The loss extended its scoreless streak to 18 innings.

The Los Angeles Lakers failed in their quest to sign Jonathan ***** inga in free agency, with the forward opting to join the Minnesota Timberwolves instead. The Lakers reportedly put a three-year, $36 million deal on the table, but ***** inga agreed to a two-year, $12 million contract with the Timberwolves.
It was an interesting decision, and ***** inga's agent, Aaron Turner, revealed to The Athletic how Anthony Edwards helped convince his client to come to Minnesota.
"Ant was super active in the recruitment of him," Turner said. "One thing he did was focus his message on, we're gonna really guard here. Everybody looked at the offensive end. JK and I looked more at the defensive end."
The Timberwolves were initially offering ***** inga just the $3.6 million veteran minimum salary, and that was too low for even Edwards to do anything. Turner unsurprisingly asked them to free up more money to put up a more appealing offer. So why did they do that now?
Well, the Timberwolves just got a new controlling owner in Marc Stad. Stad told the president of basketball operations, Tim Connelly, to do whatever it took to get up to the $6 million taxpayer mid-level exception.

The Wolves have been looking for a prototypical power forward ever since trading Julius Randle and Naz Reid during a busy offseason that also brought LaMelo Ball to Minnesota. Multiple team sources, speaking under condition of anonymity to discuss the team's private recruiting efforts, outlined the work done over the summer that helped the Timberwolves beat out other suitors for ****** inga's services. Tim Connelly, Timberwolves president of basketball operations, had extended conversations with ****** inga and agent Aaron Turner throughout the summer, including flying to Miami for a face-to-face meeting with ****** inga, sources said.

In the end, Jonathan ***** inga was willing to take less money per year to get back on the market sooner rather than take a longer contract with more guaranteed money.
After intense recruiting from Anthony Edwards and others, ***** inga has agreed to join the Timberwolves on a two-year, $13 million contract, a story broken by Shams Charania of ESPN. ***** inga stepped into the taxpayer mid-level exception the Timberwolves still had available.
This is a recruiting coup for the Timberwolves, who put on a full-court press in the last month, Charania reported. That included Edwards and other players, as well as team president Tim Connelly, who reportedly had a four-hour meeting with him. ***** inga is expected to step into the starting lineup at the three next to LaMelo Ball, Edwards, Jaden McDaniels and Rudy Gobert.
The Lakers had been pursuing ***** inga to become a starter next to Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, and they were trying to work out a sign-and-trade with Atlanta, but that would have required ***** inga to sign at least a three-year contract instead of the two in Minnesota. Plus, the Lakers and Hawks struggled to come close to a trade that worked for both sides for a variety of reasons (such as the Hawks wanting picks but not taking on players).
Kuminga did not find as robust a market for his services as he expected this summer. Atlanta chose not to pick up his $24.3 million team option, and ***** inga initially hoped for a deal in the ballpark, or at least north of $15 million. Eventually, it became about the shorter contract and the opportunity to play on a team with big expectations and to prove his value in that setting that lured him to Minnesota.

Tim Connelly speaks on how LaMelo Ball's playmaking will help the Timberwolves originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The 2026 offseason has been quite eventful for the Minnesota Timberwolves. They traded away Timberwolves mainstay Naz Reid in the package sent to the Charlotte Hornets for LaMelo Ball, the type of point guard that Anthony Edwards needs alongside him in the same backcourt.
Timberwolves team president Tim Connelly is known for making big moves, and he thinks that this would be yet another addition to a growing team. It is a massive change, but Connelly and the rest of the team believe in having Ball as the starting point guard.
Since his high school days at Chino Hills, LaMelo has always been known as one of the most talented point guards in basketball. He has had an unorthodox play style since then, but he has evolved into one of the league's best playmakers since getting drafted third overall in 2020.
During that same NBA Draft, the Timberwolves selected Edwards two picks earlier. After years of going back and forth, the two guards are now playing together. That is a big deal because they fit well alongside each other because of their complementary styles.

Utah's Devon Dampier is one of the better returning quarterbacks in college this season, with ESPN Bill Connelly ranking Dampier the No. 12 quarterback in college football and Antonio Morales and Sam Khan Jr. of The Athletic pegging him at No. 22 in the country.
After a season that saw Dampier throw for 2,490 yards and 24 touchdowns and rush for 835 yards and 10 scores, all while playing through a sports hernia and ankle injury for much of the season, there is reason for Utah fans to be excited with the senior quarterback's return to Salt Lake City.
Adam Rittenberg of ESPN recently spoke to coaches, coordinators and general managers, who were granted anonymity to speak freely about some of the top quarterbacks in each conference.
One Big 12 defensive coordinator said, "I'm a big fan of Dampier; he's legit."
In a step up in competition from New Mexico, Dampier proved to be exactly what the Utes needed at the quarterback position in 2025. Dampier arrived at Utah with offensive coordinator Jason Beck, and the pairing helped the Utes score 41.2 points per game and gain 482.9 yards per contest, marks that ranked No. 4 in the country.

USC football owns so many magical and historic moments. It just so happened that one of the school's greatest football victories was also a landmark for television, as ESPN's Bill Connelly explained:
"Nov. 18, 1967: No. 4 USC 21, No. 1 UCLA 20. With innovative direction from energetic young executive Roone Arledge, ABC Sports moved into the college football game in the 1960s and brought never-before-seen production value to the table," Connelly wrote. "That lent a new level of gravitas to big-game broadcasts, and it didn't get any bigger than this one, a rivalry game between top-five teams -- and featuring two future Heisman winners (Gary Beban in 1967, O.J. Simpson in 1968) -- played in front of 90,772. Simpson unleashed a weaving, 64-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter to secure a classic win."
Some of you might remember that Roone Arledge was the brain behind the creation of Monday Night Football in 1970. Arledge was a genius and pioneer in sports television packaging, a truly revolutionary figure in American television and sports. USC's epic win over UCLA, the greatest game ever played in the USC-UCLA football series, got the A-list treatment from television, helping the Battle for Los Angeles become a staple of late-November Saturdays. USC-UCLA regularly followed Michigan-Ohio State on national television, establishing itself as an American rivalry, not just a local one.

Exhale, folks. The trade deadline has come and gone, and the rapid refreshing of Twitter, Bluesky, or wherever you get your news from can cease. The roster you look at now is more or less what you'll see for the rest of the season, save for a well-timed DFAs for cost-cutting purposes, à la Nathaniel Lowe in 2025.
It was an eventful day for Craig Breslow, who successfully executed four trades before the clock struck 6 pm EST:
INF Curtis Mead for Connelly Early
C Adley Rustchman and C Jake Rogers for Anthony Eyanson, Kyson Witherspoon, Carlos Narvaez, Enndy Azocar, and a player to be named later
LHP Erik Miller and prospect Carlos Gutierrez for Marcelo Mayer

LOS ANGELES — At Monday's trade deadline, the Red Sox made aggressive moves to solidify their roster for a playoff push and paid a big price to do so.
The biggest? Boston acquired catcher Adley Rutschman from the Orioles marking a major step in Craig Breslow's efforts to bolster the club's offense for the stretch run. The Red Sox sent a hefty five-player package to Baltimore of catcher Carlos Narváez, pitching prospects Anthony Eyanson and Kyson Witherspoon, outfield prospect Enddy Azocar and a player to be named later. The Sox are also getting backup catcher Jake Rogers and cash in the swap. Contrary to some reports, outfield prospect Harold Rivas was not involved in the deal.
The Red Sox, who have won 31 of their last 39 games and now possess the third-best record in the American League behind the Rays and Yankees, have been looking for upgrades at catcher and shortstop in recent days as well as searching for rotation and bullpen depth. Adding Rutschman provides clear upside behind the plate, where Narváez, Connor Wong (and for a spell, Mickey Gasper) have combined to post the sixth-worst OPS in the sport (.615) and the fewest home runs (4). The move — paired with last Saturday's 1-for-1 swap that sent Connelly Early to Washington for Curtis Mead — is a clear sign Breslow believes in his group and believes the Sox can make a deep run. Mead's bat will not be a factor in the coming weeks after he broke his wrist when he was hit by a pitch in his Red Sox debut.
BETTING: The Red Sox are listed at +500 on DraftKings to win the AL East Division. In Rutschman, the Red Sox are getting a former No. 1 overall pick (2019) who had an up-and-down tenure in Baltimore, where he once appeared to be a franchise cornerstone. After a very strong three-year start to his big league career from 2022 to 2024, Rutschman took a step back last season and was limited, by injury, to 90 games. This year, he has taken a step forward again and was named an All-Star for the third time.

Charlie Walton: I am told that Will Barton, an 11-year NBA veteran wing, will be joining the Timberwolves' coaching staff this season in a player development role. Barton was an ***** istant coach with the Iowa Wolves last season and with this year's Summer League team. Tim Connelly was the General Manager of the Denver Nuggets when they traded for Barton in 2015. Barton spent roughly eight years in Denver, all of which came under Connelly.

USC football needs a lot of things to happen if this season is going to come together perfectly. ESPN's Bill Connelly explored the "ifs" which need to emerge for the Trojans to achieve up to their expectations (and maybe even exceed them).
Connelly writes that USC's season can be special "If ... Jayden Maiava has pass catchers. Maiava is one of the most proven returning quarterbacks in the sport and should have a dynamite run game at his disposal thanks to backs Waymond Jordan and King Miller, and an experienced line. But of the seven players with at least 125 receiving yards last season, only sophomore wideout Tanook Hines returns. Transfer Terrell Anderson (NC State) will need to be an immediate hit, as will a few young, unproven options."
Tanook Hines is generally viewed and accepted as a USC receiver who will do well in 2026. The Terrell Anderson portal pickup has to hit. Other depth pieces in the wide receiver room have to become legitimate options who will demand attention and respect from opposing defenses. Part of the discussion here is that Dennis Simmons needs to develop depth at the wide receiver position. He has created stars at USC but not a lot of rooms in which there were four or five really good receivers. He had that in 2022 but hasn't matched that standard since. That's an important goal for USC this season. It could make the difference between this team being moderately good and very good, borderline great.

The Boston Red Sox may return to the trade market to acquire more lineup reinforcements before Monday night's MLB trade deadline.
Boston attempted to bolster its offense by sending Connelly Early to the Tampa Bay Rays for Curtis Mead, but their new slugger didn't last long. Mead went on the injured list after getting hit by a pitch on the wrist in his Red Sox debut.
With a dominant July turning them from sellers into buyers, the Red Sox may now desire another infielder. An ESPN ****** yst proposed a short-term fix.
ESPN's David Schoenfield predicted that the Red Sox will acquire Gleyber Torres from the Detroit Tigers. Schoenfield sees the 29-year-old as a leadoff hitter in a lineup that hasn't found a permanent fixture to anchor their lineup in Roman Anthony's absence.

When NBA free agency opened in early June, no one expected the Minnesota Timberwolves to be major players. Surprisingly, they were in the chase to sign LeBron James right up until the moment he decided to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers instead.
While James would have been a bargain-bin signing, now that the Wolves missed out on their top target, president of basketball operations Tim Connelly has moved on to his next obsession.
The Timberwolves weren't able to reel James into the Land of 10,000 Lakes, but head coach Chris Finch still needs a new starting power forward.
All-Star Julius Randle was traded, which opened the door for former Sixth Man of the Year Naz Reid. But the Timberwolves promptly traded the fan favorite to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for LaMelo Ball instead.
So, who's next?

Pitching development has been the Red Sox's bread and ******* er under Craig Breslow. Since Breslow took over, the organization has invested heavily in the pitching pipeline. In his first two drafts, 28 of the team's 41 picks were spent on pitchers — 29 if you count two-way player Conrad Cason. At the major league level, Hunter Dobbins, Richard Fitts, Payton Tolle, Connelly Early, and Jake Bennett have all contributed after spending time in the system.
This season, the draft was more balanced, but several pitchers were still selected in the middle and later rounds. One of them was left-hander Brett Lanman out of Abilene Christian University, selected in the fifth round. Lanman, like many of the pitchers acquired by Breslow during his tenure as Red Sox Chief Baseball Officer, is huge. He's listed at 6-5, 230 pounds, and uses that frame to extend down the mound and help his pitches play up. While no two pitchers are the same, he's excited to get to an organization with a recent track record of getting young arms to the major leagues.
"I'm ready to get to work, cause these guys know what they're talking about," Lanman said. "They've developed these guys, and they're in the big leagues. It's like, man, they know, they know what it takes to get a left-handed pitcher into the big leagues pretty quickly."
Draft picks, to an extent, are lottery tickets. It's incredibly rare for a draft pick to enter the league as a major league-level talent. Paul Skeneses (Skenesi? Skenes?) don't grow on trees, and if they did, they'd all be first-round picks. Lanman, as a fifth-round pick, is far from a finished product. If he were, his ERA in his final season at ACU likely would have been lower than 5.35. The Red Sox didn't select the lefty because of his college results. They picked him because of who they believe he can become.
Potential is based on traits, such as being huge and left-handed. Lanman is both huge (6-5, 230) and left-handed. He also has a low release point and plus extension, creating a flat attack angle for his fastball. Most starting pitchers who succeed have a fastball as the foundation. Lanman knows that his heater is what's brought him this far, and that's what the Red Sox will want to build upon.

The Red Sox made an initial strike on the trade market this weekend when they made the 1-for-1 deal that sent lefty starter Connelly Early to the Nationals for breakout star Curtis Mead. It appears they aren't done, either. Here's what we're hearing on Boston's plans ahead of the trade deadline, which is Monday (August 3) at 6 p.m. ET.
º The Red Sox are keeping an open mind ahead of Monday, but according to major league officials, they're targeting three main needs. First, the club — like every contender this time of year — is interested in adding pitching depth, not just at the back end of the rotation but also in the bullpen. Secondly, catching upgrades remain on the table. Lastly — and perhaps most surprisingly — the club is in the shortstop market.
The addition of Mead at second base hasn't stopped Breslow from continuing to look for an infield bat and one rival evaluator said the belief is that the Red Sox are looking for a "long-term" option at shortstop. The market is rich with big-name candidates who may or may not move, including the Angels' Zach Neto, Houston's Jeremy Peña, the Mets' Francisco Lindor and Washington's C.J. Abrams. Considering the potential pending lockout — and a very poor position player class in free agency this winter — Boston may be looking at this deadline as an opportunity to settle that position.
That search comes with its complications. Landing a shortstop would signal the Red Sox waving the white flag on Trevor Story, whose Red Sox tenure has been defined by injuries but also a massive amount of respect for the leadership he brings. Adding Mead and a shortstop makes the pathway to regular at-bats much less clear for Marcelo Mayer moving forward. And perhaps most strikingly, it further clogs the pipes ahead of the arrival of top prospect Franklin Arias, who was just promoted to Triple-A.
"Not sure why (they're in that market) with Arias coming," said one rival scout.

The Boston Red Sox should be better after trading for infielder Curtis Mead.
It's going to take more than that if they want to contend for the American League, though…
Mead was certainly worth the price they paid in order to obtain his services, as his presence not only ensures there will be some added pop to the lineup but puts others in a position to succeed. If you're not convinced that he was worth giving up on starting pitcher Connelly Early, perhaps heed the words of chief baseball officer Craig Breslow on Sunday.
"I've tried to shift our goal… not to win the trade but to make our major league team better."
Mead makes them better, but not as good as they'll need to be to contend — which is why it is imperative that they continue both adding around the margins and taking swings at moves that can make them better both now and in the future.

On the ESPN College Football podcast, Dan Wetzel asked: is Michigan football poised to surprise pundits across the sport in 2026? His compatriot there on the writing side, Bill Connelly, notes in his preview that if a few things go right for the maize and blue, a deep run could be in their future.
In his feature-length write-up on the conference, the Wolverines aren't one of Connelly's contenders for the ****** le and beyond -- such belongs to Ohio State, Oregon, and Indiana -- but Michigan is in the same category as USC, Penn State, Washington, Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska, Minnesota, UCLA, Maryland, Wisconsin, and Northwestern as schools that 'could be a couple of breaks away from a run."
Of course, Michigan is thought of much more highly than, say, UCLA, Maryland, and Northwestern, but Connelly asks a couple of questions that the answer will determine the team's ceiling in 2026.
Whittingham's bona fides are top notch, but I do have two big questions.
1. Can the hard-nosed overachiever coach properly connect with and motivate a roster of blue-chippers? Going from managing a roster of chip-on-their-shoulder underdogs (relatively speaking) to leading higher-caliber recruits with higher expectations has tripped up plenty of coaches through the years. And that's without getting into the fact that Whittingham is 66 years old. (Between Patterson and Whittingham, it's a big year for 66-year-olds.)

WEST SACRAMENTO — Newly-acquired Curtis Mead left his Red Sox debut during the fifth inning Monday due to a left wrist contusion after getting hit with a pitch earlier in the game.
Athletics starter Jack Perkins hit Mead on the left wrist with a 94.9 mph four-seam fastball to lead off the fourth inning.
Mead remained in the game and played at second base in the bottom of the fourth inning. But the Red Sox replaced him at second base with Anthony Seigler to begin the bottom of the fifth inning.
Boston acquired Mead from the Nationals for starting pitcher Connelly Early on Saturday night.
"I was shocked, excited, a bunch of different emotions," Mead said Monday. "Just really excited to be here. And I didn't sleep a whole lot Saturday night."

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Ceddanne Rafaela hit his first major league grand slam and the Boston Red Sox beat the Athletics 4-2 after being held without a hit through five innings Monday night.
Connor Wong doubled leading off the sixth for the first hit against Athletics rookie starter Jack Perkins (2-6), who was pulled after walking Willson Contreras with two outs. José Suarez walked Wilyer Abreu to load the bases, setting the stage for Rafaela's 11th homer and a 4-1 lead.
Curtis Mead struck out looking his first time up in his Boston debut and then left after he was hit on the wrist by a pitch his second time up. The Red Sox acquired Mead from the Wasington Nationals on Saturday night for rookie pitcher Connelly Early.
Tyler Soderstrom extended his hitting streak to 10 games when he launched his 17th homer to give the Athletics a 1-0 lead two batters into the bottom of the first against Payton Tolle. Jonah Heim homered for the 10th time to cut it to 4-2 in the sixth.
Tolle (6-6) allowed two runs and five hits in 5 1/3 innings. He struck out seven and walked one to help the surging Red Sox (55-50) win for the 18th time in 20 games.

The Oklahoma Sooners enter the 2026 season believing they have the talent to compete for the program's eighth national championship. Oklahoma is still searching for its first national championship since the 2000 season.
The Sooners have had several opportunities to end that championship drought over the past two decades. Oklahoma reached the BCS National Championship Game three times: in 2003, 2004 and 2008, but came up short each time. The Sooners have also made the College Football Playoff five times but are still seeking their first CFP win.
ESPN's Bill Connelly identified the biggest "ifs" facing several national championship contenders entering the season.
If John Mateer's floor gets a little higher. Mateer is tough, fearless and, according to OU's social media, strong as ****** . But he finished 50th in Total QBR last season. Though some of that can be attributed to the numbers he posted while rushing back from a hand injury, he took 21 sacks in his last eight games and threw four picks with a 58% completion rate in his last three. A little consistency and finesse would go a long way. - Connelly, ESPN
Mateer has already shown he can be one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in college football. Now, the challenge is sustaining that level over an entire season. If the veteran can eliminate some of the inconsistency that surfaced late last year, Oklahoma may finally have the quarterback play needed to end its national championship drought.

Garrett Crochet didn’t choose to come to Boston, but he did choose to stay here. After making just one start as a member of the Red Sox (on the road in Texas), Crochet signed a six-year contract extension to remain with the organization through at least 2030. He was a standout on the field in his first season with the team, and while he hasn’t been able to replicate that this season, he’s working to endear himself to the community by partnering with Sam Adams for the release of Crochet’s Pale Ale, which is on tap at bars, taprooms and restaurants in the New England area and available as part of the “Our City. Our Beer” variety pack.
“A big thing for me was ingraining myself in the Boston culture, and Sam Adams is really that to a T,” Crochet said.
He isn’t wrong. When the Scots descended upon Boston for the World Cup, they drank the Sam Adams Downtown Taproom out of Boston Lager. He’s also made a habit of dominating the Yankees. In four regular season starts, he’s posted a 3.29 ERA and a 36.8% strikeout rate, as well as 7.2 innings of one-run baseball in the postseason. I conducted the interview from a hotel room in Milwaukee while on a bachelor party, and joked that the bachelor was upset with Crochet for hurting his family team. Crochet apologized but quickly rescinded it upon learning that the bachelor is a Yankees fan.
Crochet hasn’t pitched since April, but the rotation has picked up the slack in his absence. That rotation is comprised largely of huge, left-handed pitchers. Each arm is different, but Payton Tolle, Connelly Early, Ranger Suarez, and Jake Bennett all come armed with a four-seam fastball, cutter/slider, and some kind of breaking ball. Crochet’s best utilized standing on the mound, but because of the similarities with his teammates, he’s able to contribute from the bench.
“There’s much more benefit to the eye test that goes on during a series,” Crochet said. “We’re playing three or four game series and it’s all lefties that we’re rolling out there, so it’s fun to watch … When a guy is in the middle of his start I’m not passing any information, you know, he went into today prepared ready to make the start and has all the information that he feels he needs to have success … if I think someone is really looking not good on the changeup, I think me and Tolle have a little bit more room to exploit [the changeup] given that other teams aren’t planning for it at all against us.”

After not exactly lighting the world on fire in AAA, Brayan Bello nonetheless returned to the big leagues yesterday. And he shoved: 4.1 IP, 5 K, 2 H, 1 ER, 0 BB.
So the obvious question is: what now? The Red Sox do have room in the rotation — at least for now — with Ranger Suárez and Connelly Early on the IL. Moreover, as we saw in yesterday’s stunted start, the team is going to attempt to limit the workload of Payton Tolle in his first full season. Yet it must be said that Bello once again came out of the bullpen yesterday, and has not yet proven that he can be as effective in a starting role this year.
So what comes next for Bello? Is he thrown back into the rotation? Does he go in on a piggybacking timeshare with Tolle for the time being?
Use this ****** e to talk about whatever you want. Be good to each other and go Sox.

Darren Wolfson: "I would lean the Cavaliers if I had to bet right this second. But the Wolves, I checked again in the last 12-ish hours. It's not like the Wolves have been told they are out. I do think it's noteworthy that on the latest episode of Rich Paul's podcast, which is also available on YouTube, he singled out the Wolves, but also when discussing the Wolves, name-dropped Tim Connelly, then brought up the ownership group, Marc Lore, Alex Rodriguez. Connect those dots. It's not some sort of big world. Sports, sports business, sports entertainment. You think about A-Rod, all his accomplishments, plus his business happenings. It's pretty clear we can connect the dots. There is a connection there. Rich Paul, Alex Rodriguez. When you think about the star stature of Alex Rodriguez, why wouldn't Alex Rodriguez be involved in this process? But also Tim Connelly, his lengthy history with Rich Paul. So there have been a number of conversations, Wolves folks with Rich Paul. They have not been told they are out."

In this week's Injury Report, Byron Buxton aggravated a lingering hip injury, putting his status for the All-Star Game in jeopardy. Connelly Early's breakout rookie campaign has hit a roadblock with an elbow injury. And Mike Trout is expected to return this week following a three-week absence with a hamstring strain. All that and more as we cover all of the most relevant injury news around baseball.
⚾️ Baseball is back! MLB returns to NBC and Peacock in 2026! In addition to becoming the exclusive home of Sunday Night Baseball, NBC Sports will broadcast MLB Sunday Leadoff, "Opening Day" and Labor Day primetime games, the first round of the MLB Draft, the entire Wild Card round of the postseason, and much more.
Buxton was held out of the lineup all last week with a right hip impingement and didn't return until Saturday. He was then removed from Sunday's contest against the Yankees after sliding into second on a steal attempt in the first inning. It seems he might've aggravated the hip injury on the play. Given that he missed a handful of games with the issue, he may not be able to avoid the injured list this time around, especially with the All-Star break coming up, which will allow him some extra rest. Though we should get some clarity on Tuesday before the team's series opener against the Guardians in Minnesota. Buxton was elected to his first All-Star game, hitting .271/.328/.304 with 25 homers, 57 runs, 45 RBI, and seven steals across 335 plate appearances.

Junior Caminero's power binge continues, the Cubs are in rollercoaster mode, and the Twins pull off a rare feat.

ANAHEIM, Calif. — The Red Sox are going to be without Connelly Early for a bit after the rookie lefty was placed on the IL Wednesday with elbow inflammation.
As such, the Red Sox will need to fill in his spot in the rotation. But thanks to Monday's off-day on the schedule, it's not a decision they have to make right away. It's conceivable the Sox could get by with four starters until July 11 at Citi Field against the New York Mets.
It's also possible, however, that they could insert another starter into the mix as early as Tuesday if they wish.
"We haven't gotten that far," said interim manager Chad Tracy. "We can obviously insert someone sooner (than Saturday). Patrick Sandoval would be in play, but I don't really want to get into that because he's got a start in the minor leagues (Saturday), to get the pitch count stretched further. It's not fully productive to **** ume anything. We've got to make sure he gets out of that outing healthy and feels good.
"And then once he does that, we can have more productive conversations around what we might do."

BOSTON — As the Red Sox await further information on Connelly Early’s sore elbow, the club will shake up its pitching staff before Wednesday’s matinee against the Nationals.
Early is not being placed on the injured list — at least yet — because the Red Sox are still gathering information on his injury. Regardless, the club designated veteran reliever Tommy Kahnle for **** ignment and is summoning lefty Alec Gamboa to Boston for Wednesday’s game, according to sources.
Cutting bait with Kahnle clears a 40-man roster spot for the impending addition of corner infielder Brett Harris. The Red Sox and Athletics are finalizing a minor trade that will send Harris to Boston and minor league pitching prospect Ben Hansen to the A’s.
Kahnle, who joined the Red Sox in early June when the club added him to its roster so he wouldn’t opt out of a minor league contract and pursue opportunities elsewhere, was shelled in Tuesday’s 9-1 loss to Washington. The righty allowed four earned runs (on four hits) in the eighth inning, continuing a pattern of poor performances. After beginning his tenure with five shutout innings over four games from June 4-14, Kahnle allowed eight earned runs in his last four innings. His ERA sits at 8.00.
Kahnle, who turns 37 in August, is out of minor league options and therefore will be waived, traded or released in the coming days. He had a 1.40 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 19 ⅓ innings with the WooSox before being called up.
