When Yashasvi Jaiswal walked out to bat in Galle for the first Test against Sri Lanka, he was playing the 30th Test of his career. The milestone came with an unusual record - Jaiswal has played each of his first 30 Tests at a different venue.
The India opener has never played a Test at the same ground twice.

According to FOX59/CBS4's Mike Chappell, Indianapolis Colts longtime general manager Chris Ballard clarified on Tuesday in Foxborough to the covering media that starting wide receiver Alec Pierce did not actually receive a 2nd PRP injection in late June—contradicting an earlier circulating report:
Per Colts GM Chris Ballard: WR Alec Pierce did not have a second PRP injection. Clearing up confusion. Been rehabbing since March surgery. Feel good where he's at.
The plan is still for Pierce to ready for the Colts regular season opener at home against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, September 13th.
That being said, Ballard did indicate that Pierce's injury was both to his ankle and heel.
It will be interesting to see if Pierce can make it back by the time training camp ends, because the Colts have just four training camp practices left this offseason. Time at Colts camp has simply flown by.

Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton spoke with reporters after practice on Monday at Missouri Western State University. He shared a progress report of this year's practice sessions and reflected on his history at training camp.
"Yeah, I think every day we're making strides," said Bolton. "Being the team we want to be, obviously, X's and O's-wise, but just the mental part, the conditioning, concentration during long periods, long practices, long drive drills and stuff like that. So, I think we're doing a good job coming together so far."
Bolton finished the 2025 season leading the Chiefs with 154 total tackles, along with a sack and an interception. The defense is looking for an improved year as Bolton reflected on his past six seasons at training camp.
"Every year is a little bit different. This year I had a little bit more time in the offseason, kind of work on my body. More so now it's just communication-wise, making sure everybody's on the same page; obviously I did that before. I'm trying to take it to a different level, making sure that everybody's speaking the same language," said Bolton. "Every signal is the same, so there is no confusion in the back end and stuff like that." So, I'm working some more on X's and O's, in terms of my position and how I can help other people around me."
Bolton was selected as an alternate for the 2026 Pro Bowl Games last season but is still striving for his first official invitation.

If you missed the game, the Red Sox and Blue Jays game in Toronto on Monday had a ruling that….well, I'm not sure any of us have ever seen.
Let's set the scene first. Boston had runners on the corners with one out. Ceddanne Rafaela hits a ball to center that would've been deep enough to score Anthony Siegler on a sac fly.
That is… if Siegler (and Nick Sogard as the runner at first) knew how many outs there were in the frame.
Apparently, the scoreboard at the SkyDome (I'm dead naming it, you can't stop me) displayed two outs. The confusion stemmed from the previous play, where Vlad Guerrero Jr. fielded a screamer right at him at first before firing to the base for a force out; the ball hit the ground, but my guess is that there was some confusion in the moment about whether or not it was a double play.

A major bill seeking to regulate college sports hit a roadblock in the Senate last week despite lawmakers racing to have the framework approved before leaving Washington for a scheduled five-week recess.
The long-stalled Protect College Sports Act, which would establish federal regulations for name, image and likeness deals for student-athletes, was injected with sudden momentum last week — but that progress quickly sputtered out as the week came to a close. Among other concerns, some lawmakers raised objections that the bill could create legal loopholes in states that have laws restricting transgender athletes from participating in women's sports.
A group of attorneys general from six red states, including Utah Attorney General Derek Brown, wrote a letter to the two main sponsors of the bill to urge changes before it's brought to the floor for a vote.
"For decades, the integrity of women's sports has been under attack by those pursuing a radical transgender agenda at the expense of the safety of female athletes and equal athletic opportunity," the state attorney general wrote in the letter, which was sent to lawmakers on Friday and obtained by the Deseret News.
The Protect College Sports Act is a sweeping proposal to regulate college athletics by creating a national framework dealing with NIL deals, athlete compensation, media rights, revenue sharing, transfer eligibility, and more. Bipartisan lawmakers behind the legislation have argued federal guidelines are crucial to absolve confusion from 50 states operating under different rules.

All that's worth talking about happened in the top of the seventh. Red Sox down 2-0. Game is going along quickly. All is well.
Anthony Seigler singled off Simeon Woods Richardson to lead off the inning. Connor Wong also singled. Nick Sogard lined one at Vladimir Guerrero, who got the ball on a hop and got the first out on a force at second.
Then…..true weirdness. The scoreboard, apparently showed two outs. Truly that's really neither here nor there, as my dad would say. It is a none issue.

The Boston Red Sox scored one of the most bizarre runs you'll see in a baseball game thanks to a scoreboard error and some major mental mistakes from everyone on the field.
On Monday, the Red Sox were visiting the Toronto Blue Jays for a mid-August AL East series. With the Blue Jays up 2-0 in the top of the seventh inning, the Red Sox were looking to get on the scoresheet with runners on first and third with one out. While the broadcast graphics clearly said there was one out in the top of the seventh, the center field scoreboard in Toronto incorrectly displayed that there were two outs when Ceddanne Rafaela was up to bat.
What then happened was complete chaos. Rafaela popped the ball up to center field, yet the two Red Sox runners started to run the bases like there were two outs, with Anthony Seigler running to home without tagging at third. The Blue Jays also seemed confused as to how many outs there were, as they correctly executed the double play, but pitcher Simeon Woods Richardson and catcher Brandon Valenzuela started to walk off the field after the catch like the inning was over.
As expected, this created incredible confusion on the field in Toronto as the umpire attempted to sort things out, even going to a rules check in New York due to the weirdness of it all.
At the end of a 15 minute delay, the umpires announced that the Red Sox ended up earning a run on Seigler crossing home even though he didn't tag third. But why? Well, according to Sportsnet reporter Hazel Mae who talked to Max Scherzer, the Blue Jays were waved off by the home plate umpire and then couldn't appeal the decision because Richardson and Valenzuela walked off the field.

Meanwhile the Houthis say they have resumed attacks on the Red Sea port city of Mocha, which will be making shippers through the Bab el-Mandeb strait nervous.

Indiana Fever superstar guard Caitlin Clark picked up her eighth technical foul of the season on Saturday against the Chicago Sky, which would leave her suspended for the team's next game.
However, it's possible that the league could rescind this particular technical foul that would allow Clark to play in Tuesday's Fever home game against the New York Liberty.
One of the game's officials called the tech in question on Clark after the latter ******* ped into the ref during the game. The contact seemed incidental upon replay and just part of forward momentum. Clark didn't seem to say anything after the contact, too, which led to confusion and frustration from Clark and Fever coach Stephanie White.
White also got a technical foul in the moment, seemingly for questioning the officials on what happened with Clark.

Meta's relationship with compute is an unusual one. On the one hand, the company has held talks with AI rival Anthropic about leasing some of its internal computing power and begun to develop plans for a cloud infrastructure business to compete with Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud.

It wasn't a lengthy answer, but it was enough to spark curiosity about what Todd Bowles could have in store for one of the NFL's most versatile defensive playmakers.
During his All-Pro campaign, Winfield was everywhere. He blitzed off the edge, lined up in the slot, played deep safety, defended the run, and forced turnovers at an elite rate. Admittedly, it's an ages-old question for one of the NFL's historically inept franchises − one that's never reached the Super Bowl. But the past two months have just added more layers of confusion, at least in my judgment.
I was following along earlier this spring, when Cleveland utilized free agency and the draft to reload an offensive line that had aged out − a stratagem that should also provide an eminently fair evaluation of this summer's (this season's?) quarterback battle. And after what appears to be a sterling 2025 NFL draft, including what seemed to be a cagey decision to move out of the No. 2 spot and forego selecting Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter, GM Andrew Berry positioned himself to choose four players in the top 58 spots this year. Nicely done, sir.

Karl Ravech is an ESPN legend with decades at the Worldwide Leader while doing SportsCenter, Baseball Tonight and play-by-play on the air for baseball. But earlier this month, he was among those laid off by the company.
Yet there he was on Thursday night, calling a game on the network between the Washington Nationals and Atlanta Braves. What's up with that? USA TODAY Sports has an answer.
"Despite Ravech being part of the latest round of layoffs at ESPN, a person with knowledge of his status with the network told USA TODAY Sports Thursday evening that Ravech was given the option to call a few select MLB games this summer," wrote John Leuzzi and Kristie Ackert.

Global equities ended last week little changed in local currency and up 0.6% in sterling terms. This continued the choppy pattern of recent weeks with markets currently down 1.5-2% from their peak in early June. The US underperformed with a gain of 0.3% in sterling terms while the UK and emerging markets were both up around 1.3%.
Meanwhile, government bonds in the US and UK both lost 0.5% with yields re-testing their highs in early May. 10-year UK gilt yields tested 5.1% while US yields reached 4.7%, before retreating a bit.
The war with Iran was centre stage with renewed attacks by both sides and Trump once again upping his threats. The new ingredient this time was that concerns were not limited to the Strait of Hormuz but extended to the Bab El Mandeb Strait with the Houthis exchanging blows with Saudi Arabia and threatening to close the waterway.
The importance of this new chokepoint is two-fold. First, it threatens Saudi's ability to divert via its pipeline a good part of its oil production to the Red Sea rather than the Strait of Hormuz. Second, it poses a threat to container traffic more generally which use the Suez Canal to avoid a long and costly diversion around the African coast.
Oil duly moved back up to $100 per barrel mid-week from a low of close to $70pb all of three weeks ago. But it is back down to $88pb this morning as negotiations between the US and Iran started up once again over the weekend, easing fears of a major escalation. However, this morning, Iran said it is not seeking new peace talks, so the confusion continues.
Even so, the fact remains that Trump appears to have chickened out yet again – be it because the hike in oil prices has pushed US gasoline prices back above $4 per gallon, the rise in US Treasury yields has caused concerns or because, as has been reported, the US lacks the necessary munitions.

The young royal bore a striking resemblance to her late great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, during the annual Christmas Day walkabout at Sandringham in Norfolk.

It’s been a messy season in recent months due to the NCAA’s new “5 for 5” rules, which allow collegiate athletes to complete their journey at this level over 5 years.
With that rule comes a lot of changes: No more redshirting for a future star to sit and learn, and no more medical redshirts. It keeps everything pretty black-and-white from here on.
Well, even though it seems like there can’t be much confusion or anything wrong with that, we have seen numerous players who just completed their fourth year in college, suing the NCAA in an attempt to get an extra year of eligibility. When the new rules were passed, they were supposed to go into effect next year, meaning this last group of seniors who just finished their careers would be gone.
Kentucky Basketball fans are very familiar with one name in the group of players suing for an extra year of eligibility. Denzel Aberdeen, a former Kentucky guard from last year’s roster, entered the transfer portal and returned to Florida to seek an extra year and play a “super senior,” or fifth year, of college back where he played his first three seasons. Aberdeen would have an immediate impact on the Gators and would start right away for them, so Florida has their fingers crossed with that situation.

Nolan Wells' parents are speaking out for the first time on their grief and lingering questions after the 18-year-old was found dead following his disappearance over the July 4 weekend. Christine and Elmore Wonsley, along with their attorney Ben Crump, sat with "Good Morning America" host Michael Strahan for an emotional interview on July 10 in which they reflected on their sorrow over Wells' loss and explained their confusion about what led to his death. Wells was last seen on Mississippi's Horn Island during a holiday boating trip with friends. Crump previously confirmed to NBC News that Christine had reported her son missing that night when he didn't return with the others in his group. A two-day search culminated in a park ranger finding Wells' body ashore on the island. A cause of death is yet to be determined, but Crump has said that the Wonsleys don't accept that their son could have drowned accidentally and are launching an independent investigation into what happened. Both Christine and Elmore explained on "GMA" that they don't understand why Wells would have chosen to stay on the island without his friends. "We always taught him that if you go with a group, you stay with a group," Elmore said. "If you go with five, you come back with five. Do not separate from the group. Because I always said, 'Safety is in numbers.' So he knew to stay with this group, so why would he split from the group? I don't know." Per The ****** ociated Press, Jackson County Sheriff John Ledbetter said that Wells' friends are cooperating with authorities.
