Apple's July 10, 2026 lawsuit against OpenAI, filed in the Northern District of California just five weeks after OpenAI's confidential Form S‑1 targeted a trillion‑dollar valuation, presents a governance case study with implications far beyond Silicon Valley. In Apple Inc. v. Liu, No. 5:26‑cv‑07078, Apple alleges that OpenAI Group PBC, OpenAI Foundation, io Products LLC, former Apple vice president Tang Yew Tan, and former Apple engineer Chang Liu engaged in a coordinated effort to obtain confidential Apple hardware designs, supply‑chain intelligence, and unreleased product specifications. Apple claims the misappropriation reached every level of OpenAI's hardware organization and seeks preliminary and permanent injunctions, compensatory damages, a reasonable royalty in the alternative, exemplary damages for willful misappropriation, and attorneys' fees*. OpenAI denies all allegations and points to Apple's allegedly lax exit procedures as the key negating factor.
From a governance perspective, the case highlights a recurring pattern: trade‑secret disputes that appear straightforward to the public often reveal deeper structural weaknesses inside the victim organization. The industry has seen versions of this before—emails encouraging departing employees to "bring what you know," or the more extreme mole scenario, as in Deel v. Rippling. These are not just operational failures; they are governance failures that should alarm any board member or investor expecting a clean exit or a stable competitive position.
The risk is accelerating. More than 1,500 federal trade‑secret cases were filed in 2025 – the highest ever – and still only a fraction of the true number. AI proliferation, high employee mobility, and limits on non‑competes ensure that trade‑secret litigation will continue to rise. Meanwhile, companies increasingly rely on trade‑secret protection (surpassing the long-favored patent-or-die approach) recognizing that patents disclose the playbook to competitors and nation‑state adversaries. In a world where competitive advantage is often driven by a process rather than the output it creates, trade secrets are often the most valuable and strategic IP ******* et.
But the governance question is always the same: Did the company actually have protectable trade secrets? That requires: a) legal ownership of the innovation, b) demonstrable uniqueness that creates value, and c) "reasonable measures" to protect it.

The wait for the new team format is finally over. The WTGL has officially locked in a start date and a major media rights deal that puts the league on national television. This is a concrete plan to get women's golf in front of millions of viewers, not just another press release. Broadcast rights for the competition have been locked in by TMRW Sports via multi-year agreements with ESPN and Scripps Sports/ION, signaling genuine confidence in the product. Although the complete schedule is still confidential, the league is scheduled to debut on Sunday, Nov. 8. This date aligns with the final round of the LPGA's TOTO ****** an Classic, providing the new league with a high-profile opening night.
Matches and shoulder programming will appear on ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2. On ION, the league joins a strong lineup of women's sports including the WNBA, NWSL, and PWHL. This distribution reaches 128 million homes nationally. It's a massive step up from streaming-only launches. The deal mirrors the success of the men's TGL, which ESPN has called home since its inaugural 2024-25 season. The infrastructure is ready. The players are set. Now the cameras just need to roll.
According to reports, the announcement came just two days after WTGL revealed the official rosters for the league's five teams. November will mark the league's start at the SoFi Center located in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The regular season runs through November and December with a round-robin format. The postseason features single-elimination semifinals and a best-of-three finals. This structure creates a clear path to a champion, forcing teams to think about how they win a series rather than just a single tournament.
The broadcast partners are already on board. "We are genuinely excited to be the home for WTGL as it launches its inaugural season this fall," said Rosalyn Durant, executive vice president, programming and acquisitions, in a release. She added that bringing the league to fans continues a commitment to growing women's sports and supports the belief in the momentum of women's golf. While production details, the on-air talent list, and the full schedule are set for later announcement, the platform is ready.
The roster depth is significant. An inaugural season field of 25 players has been established by the league, comprising individuals with 112 LPGA Tour victories and 15 major championships. However, the real story is the format. Just three players from every five-player roster are eligible to compete in a match. Before the shot clock starts or the Hammer comes into play, a coach must decide who plays and which two sit. This lineup card determines whether team golf gains substance or merely resembles individual golfers wearing matching shirts.

This week, the club and Trust installed a bench in Gunnersbury Park, the sixth to be added in the local area to encourage the community to pause, connect and talk.
Last season, some of our players took to the benches to share their own experiences of mental health, including Fábio Carvalho and former Bees player Jordan Henderson. The installation of benches was inspired by Brentford's longstanding commitment to supporting mental wellbeing and the work of consultant psychologist Michael Caulfield, whose bench at the Robert Rowan Performance Centre (RRPC) provides a safe, confidential ***** e for players, coaches and staff to speak.
On Saturday, ahead of our game against Sunderland, from 12.30pm the RRPC bench will be located outside Entrance B at Gtech Community Stadium so fans can make a personal commitment linked to mental wellbeing and supporting others.
Trained representatives from Brentford FC Community Sports Trust and the Samaritans will be on hand to speak with supporters and provide information about health and wellbeing programmes available in the local community.
This season, Talking is the Best Tactic is encouraging supporters to take small actions towards better mental health through simple conversations or small acts of support.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The FBI has seized more than $560,000 in cryptocurrency donations intended for Hamas, the Justice Department said Tuesday in announcing a disruption of financing for the militant group.
In addition to seizing cryptocurrency meant to support Hamas' military wing, the department said that it had taken control of website domains and communication platforms used for fundraising and recruitment, and had obtained information about thousands of people who had contacted Hamas with a goal of giving money to the group.
"My message to Hamas is clear: your networks are not secure, your crypto is vulnerable, and we will not stop until your ability to wage war is defeated," Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, said in a video statement announcing the operation.
According to FBI affidavits filed in connection with the seizures, Hamas began testing virtual currency fundraising in or around early 2019 through its Qassam Brigades, or military wing, and solicited donations on its Telegram channel and also used direct online fundraising. Hamas officials bragged that the currency would be untraceable and their websites offered instructions for how to make anonymous donations, the affidavits say.
A major investigative break arrived last year when FBI officials identified a financing network soliciting donations to the Qassam Brigades via virtual currency and a confidential source located in the United States alerted law enforcement to a Telegram post asking for contributions to an email address **** ociated with Hamas.

At this point more than two months before the midterm elections, Democrats retaking control of Congress and its subpoena power is far from certain. But President Donald Trump is already laying down legal markers for how he'll fight any attempt by lawmakers to investigate him.
In a Justice Department memo and legal filings, the Trump administration is arguing that the president can keep secret not just the conversations he has with his advisers within the White House, but that his dealings with individuals outside the government can be shielded as well. The White House is also saying in court that even disclosing the identities of the people who worked on significant policy efforts would infringe upon the presidential confidentiality to which Trump is entitled. And the administration has taken the stance that it can ignore a Watergate-era law prohibiting the destruction of White House documents.
The posturing comes as Trump, in his second term, has been notably reliant on a constellation of business moguls, non-government attorneys and old friends to help shape his agenda.
"There has been an unprecedented amount of interaction between the Executive Branch — particularly the White House — and the private sector that Congress has made clear is going to be the subject of oversight," said Jamie Bair, a partner and head of congressional investigations at the law firm Crowell & Moring.
Congressional Democrats are already probing the administration's interactions with FIFA, how Trump's ties to the crypto-industry are affecting federal policy, and other examples of Trump family business maneuverings that Democrats say can be tied to government policies.

NEW YORK, Aug 26 (Reuters) - Former JPMorgan Chase executive Jes Staley told U.S. lawmakers he repeatedly shared confidential and market-sensitive bank information with Jeffrey Epstein and was at one point ‌named as a trustee of his estate, according to a transcript released by the U.S. Congress House ‌Oversight Committee.

OpenAI, one of the world's fastest-growing AI companies, filed its confidential paperwork for an IPO with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in June. CEO Sam Altman is reportedly targeting a valuation of at least $1 trillion before it goes public. It was valued at $852 billion after its latest funding round on March 31.
OpenAI hasn't set a firm timeline for its public debut yet, but CFO Sarah Friar recently said in an internal meeting that it would be "a public company in 2027." Let's see how fast OpenAI is growing, what challenges it faces, and what its market debut might look like next year.

In late 2024, OpenAI had an annualized revenue run rate (ARR) of $3.7 billion. Its ARR rose to about $20 billion at the end of 2025, $25 billion in early 2026, and over $40 billion in Aug. 2026.
That acceleration was driven by its launches of ChatGPT Plus and ChatGPT Pro, which cost $20 and $200 per month, respectively; its growth among enterprise customers, and the expansion of its developer ecosystem with more application programming interfaces (APIs).

Jackie Goldschneider reportedly faced potential legal action over her communications with Vanessa Reiser. Attorney Doug Anton discussed the alleged situation on the Get Real With Kim D podcast, focusing on Jackie's legal background and messages with Luis Ruelas' ex-fiancée.
Doug Anton recently discussed the complicated history involving Vanessa Reiser and Luis Ruelas. The attorney claimed Jackie provided legal guidance during Vanessa's legal troubles. He also suggested those communications raised concerns about confidentiality and attorney-client privilege.
According to Anton's account, Jackie was not merely asking Vanessa questions. He said she also answered Vanessa's legal questions and discussed her situation. Anton interpreted their text messages as creating a relationship of trust.
The claims were discussed during a two-part episode of Get Real With Kim D. Kim DePaola hosted Anton and Reiser for the podcast episode. The discussion reportedly explored details that had not previously received much public attention.
Jackie previously worked as an attorney before joining The Real Housewives of New Jersey. Her legal background therefore became relevant to the allegations. Anton questioned whether her communications crossed a professional boundary.

This year has already delivered one of the most extraordinary IPO periods in recent years. ****** eX (SPCX), Cerebras (CBRS), and Jersey Mike's (JMKE) have been some of the buzzier names to debut in public markets.
But this could be just the tip of the IPO iceberg as we look into the fall — and along with it, some very bold promises on future performance.
Anthropic (ANTH.PVT) has filed confidentially for a potential IPO as soon as October. The Claude creator may pitch to investors that its potential revenue opportunities are above $30 trillion, per a new report from the Wall Street Journal.
OpenAI (OPAI.PVT) is not far behind, judging by all the execs it has sent packing this summer. It too could follow Anthropic with a seemingly outlandish future revenue estimate.
"I actually like it [the revenue estimate] because it talks about sort of what the opportunity is. If it's enterprise, if it's consumer, it's coding, it's actually changing not only how we do work, but also how we develop products. I think it is viable," Connor Group managing partner Jim Neesen said on Yahoo Finance's Opening Bid. "I mean, if you look at their revenue growth, $65 billion is their run rate. They were $9 billion last year. That's a sevenfold increase. I do think that market opportunity is out there."

MUMBAI, Aug 24 (Reuters) - India will launch tokenised corporate bonds next month, as it tests the use of blockchain technology to enable instant settlement of ‌bond transactions, three sources with direct knowledge of the matter said on Monday.
The notes, ‌to be issued for the first time by state-owned power financier REC, would place India alongside markets such as Europe and Hong Kong in using the technology for issuance and settlement.

Space Exploration Technologies (NASDAQ: SPCX), better known as **** eX, shattered records with its IPO in June. The company went public at a valuation of $1.77 trillion and raised $86 billion. Both stand as records.
But Anthropic could shatter at least one of them. The AI lab confidentially filed its IPO prospectus with the SEC at the start of June, and it could go public before the end of the year. When it does, it could command an even higher valuation than **** eX.

Anthropic's last funding round in May valued the company at $965 billion. But its valuation could climb to $2 trillion by the time it goes public, according to some investors. Here's why it could be the highest-valued company to go public in history, and how it compares to **** eX.
Anthropic is the fastest-growing software company in history. The company reached a $65 billion run rate in July. That level of revenue would put it firmly in the Fortune 100, but what's even more impressive is that it wouldn't even have made the Fortune 500 list a year ago. The company has seen revenue explode this year from a $9 billion revenue run rate to start the year, which is up from a $5 billion run rate last August and a $1 billion run rate at the start of 2025.

Norwegian energy giant Equinor has signed a 15-year natural gas sales agreement with Germany's Uniper, locking in more than 30 terawatt-hours of annual gas supplies to Europe's largest economy through 2041.
The agreement covers roughly 2.8 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year, with deliveries scheduled to begin on January 1, 2027, and continue through December 31, 2041. The gas will be delivered at Trading Hub Europe, Germany's gas market area.
Equinor said pricing will reflect prevailing market terms, while other commercial details remain confidential.
The deal extends a longstanding relationship between the two companies and reinforces Norway's role as one of Germany's most important sources of natural gas. Germany is Equinor's largest gas market and has been a major destination for Norwegian supplies since exports began in 1977.
The new contract begins in the year marking the 50th anniversary of Norwegian gas exports to Germany.

A former butler revealed that King Charles might possibly invite Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and his grandchildren for Christmas after they return to the UK. However, the invitation will be under one condition. Various media outlets have recently reported that the Sussexes will be returning to Britain by the end of the month. Reports suggest the family of four will be residing in a private, non-royal home. Moreover, there is no change in their status as non-working royals.
The Royal Family's former butler addressed whether King Charles will invite Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their children, Archie and Lilibet, for Christmas following their UK return. Grant Harrold, who worked as a royal butler at Highgrove House, shared that they can possibly receive a Christmas invitation, but under a special condition.
Harrold said, "If it all goes nicely and there are no upsets, I think the King will invite them for Christmas. I don't think it's out of the question. But they need to behave. They will have to come quietly and do their own thing. Public opinion will have to believe they are here for the right reasons" (via CasinoHawks).
As per a report by PEOPLE, the Sussexes have already enrolled their children, Archie and Lilibet, in a British school, and they will begin their term in September. Harry and Meghan will not stay at the royal palace and will instead inhabit a non-royal, private home. The couple will reportedly retain their Montecito and Portugal homes. The location of the family's new home and the children's school is being kept strictly confidential.
King Charles was "made aware" of Harry and Meghan's plans on August 16. The 77-year-old monarch has reportedly welcomed the idea of meeting his younger son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren more often.

Anthropic is ******* embling a revolving credit facility expected to surpass its roughly $10 billion target, as the AI company moves toward a public listing, according to Reuters.
Banks are competing for a share of the expanded credit line, viewing involvement as a way to bolster their standing when Anthropic selects underwriters for its IPO, according to Reuters, citing Bloomberg News. The company behind the Claude chatbot confidentially filed for a U.S. initial public offering in June.
The structure of the facility ******* igns different commitment levels based on a bank's level of involvement. Banks taking the most prominent arranging roles have received requests for commitments of about $1.25 billion apiece, with those in a secondary tier being guided toward roughly $1 billion. Banks with smaller roles in the deal are expected to contribute somewhere below $750 million.
The talks remain ongoing, and Anthropic could still opt to cap the facility at its original target or even below it.

Audi's Formula 1 project is making sure its brightest young talent isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
According to a recent interview published by Motorsport Brasil, Brazilian driver Gabriel Bortoleto has officially confirmed that he has signed a multi-year contract extension to remain with the Swiss-German manufacturer.
The confirmation shuts down any paddock speculation regarding the young star's future as Audi navigates its debut season as a full works team in 2026.
When asked about his contract status by the publication, the 21-year-old was incredibly direct about his commitment to the team, emphasizing the strength of the agreement.
"As far as I can say, because it's something confidential – let's say there are no clauses," Bortoleto revealed. He further clarified the timeline of the deal, adding, "I'll be with Audi next year. Not only next year, but the following years as well."

OpenAI (Unlisted:OPAI) is on track to generate annualised revenue of more than $40 billion, according to Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the matter, roughly double its run rate at the end of 2025.
The acceleration strengthens the case for a stock market debut, with the ChatGPT maker having filed confidential paperwork to go public.
Growth has been driven in part by its AI coding software, alongside subscription sales, a young advertising business and a still-expanding consumer arm.
Greg Brockman, co-founder and president, told staff the run rate rose more than 20% month-on-month in July.
Chief financial officer Sarah Friar had previously said the company ended last year above $20 billion.

Sam Altman's push for a $1 trillion OpenAI IPO is on a collision course with SoftBank's need to repay a $40 billion bridge loan early next year, creating real tension around the deal's timing and valuation. All this tension matters for Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) and Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) shareholders, because both companies have meaningful OpenAI exposure on their balance sheets and in their narratives.
OpenAI filed a confidential S‑1 with the Securities and Exchange Commission in June and sits at a private post‑money valuation of around $852 billion after its March 2026 funding round. Reports put its 2025 revenue near $13 billion and its 2026 revenue near $2 billion per month, numbers that support a high valuation multiple, but not a stress‑free one. Altman has told investors he will not take the company public below $1 trillion, so the IPO must clear that bar, or the listing will stay on hold.

To fund its expanded stake in OpenAI, SoftBank arranged an unsecured $40 billion bridge loan that matures in March 2027. Bridge paper exists to carry a borrower into a specific liquidity moment, which in this case lines up with a fourth-quarter 2026 or first-quarter 2027 window for OpenAI's IPO. If public markets balk at putting a $1 trillion valuation on the ChatGPT developer, SoftBank will either have to refinance at tougher terms or the company will have to accept a lower market cap -- an outcome that could ripple through its broader AI story.
Microsoft owns roughly 27% of OpenAI after committing about $13 billion to it a few years ago, and it's in talks to add a bit under $10 billion more to its stake in the new funding round. A trillion-dollar IPO would turn that stake into one of the most valuable strategic holdings in corporate history, which supports the long‑term AI infrastructure thesis around Azure and Copilot. The risk here is that SoftBank's need for speed will push OpenAI to go public before the economics of enterprise AI are stable, leaving Microsoft with headline valuation gains but more scrutiny on capital intensity and on an AI partner whose stock could swing hard.

Aug 13 (Reuters) - Private equity firm Silver Lake is in talks to acquire Workday in a deal that would rank among the largest software buyouts in history, according to people familiar with the ‌matter.

Trust and believe Dillon Brooks has checked out the 2026-27 NBA regular season schedule released on Aug. 13.
The Phoenix Suns posted a video on social media of him tearing up a piece of paper with 'confidential' written on it and saying, "we play everyone"
Then just stared into the camera without blinking while the team's schedule scrolled over his face and upper body.
So, Brooks had to have seen that the Suns are playing the Philadelphia 76ers at home Dec. 30 on his favorite NBA player's 42nd birthday — LeBron James.
"Oh, that's LeBron's birthday, too," Brooks said. "He did tell me that in one of the playoff series. I'm excited. That's more ammunition for me to win that game, but should be fun."

The Justice Department Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) released a memo Monday extending the president's "executive privilege" to claim confidentiality over White House communications with private advisers.
The memo says the White House can withhold "communications with private advisers so long as the communications relate to official presidential decisionmaking, involve or reflect communications with the President or his direct advisers."
The new policy would frustrate congressional Democrats' attempts to investigate the White House if they win back the House in the 2026 midterm elections, which they are favored to do.
The memo also alarmed government watchdog and transparency groups.
"This is the latest attempt by this administration to reduce transparency," Scott Amey, general counsel for the Project on Government Oversight (POGO), says. "The executive branch has cut resources that ensure public access to government information and taken down information from public websites. It has claimed that the Presidential Records Act is unconstitutional. And now it claims that presidential communications with people outside the government can be shielded as privileged. It's hard not to read this as anything other than an attempt to gain cover if Congress conducts oversight hearings about the activities and decisions that have been made in the past two years."

Former Raiders coach Jon Gruden wanted his claims against the NFL and Commissioner Roger Goodell to be resolved in court. Gruden won. And now he has to fully comply with the court's rules.
The presiding judge suggested on Monday that Gruden has not done so sufficiently.
"I remain concerned with Gruden's, Gruden's side's delays and lack of cooperation, lack of compliance with the rules," district judge Joe Hardy said, via **** le Brigham of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
The NFL had complained that Gruden was dragging his feet in the discovery process **** ociated with his lawsuit alleging that the NFL deliberately leaked otherwise confidential emails in an effort to force him out as the Raiders' head coach in October 2021.
"No explanation was proffered by Gruden's side that would address the court's concern about the delays, particularly in light of months ago, when I said, in Gruden's favor and against the NFL's position, we're going forward," Judge Hardy said. "Gruden understandably at least represented to me that their side wanted to proceed expeditiously and has done the opposite of that."
