Prince Harry is back in the spotlight after his eco-travel initiative, Travalyst, reported a five-figure loss. The Duke of Sussex launched the non-profit venture in 2019 with the goal of making travel more sustainable. Travalyst has maintained that the loss was planned and formed part of an investment in the organization's future.
According to RadarOnline.com, citing Travalyst's latest annual accounts, the organization recorded a loss of around $17,000 (£13,542) in 2025. The result represented a reversal from the previous year's stronger financial position.
A Travalyst spokesperson characterized the deficit as planned and relatively small, saying, "It was a planned and small loss of £13,000, very typical of a lean, not-for-profit organisation, making a critical investment for the future." The spokesperson continued, "Travalyst remains confident in its financial oversight and strength of its partnerships."
Questions surrounding Harry's role in the venture have persisted since 2023. The Duke of Sussex was reportedly absent during the organization's "pilot phase," which saw five new board members join with "world-class expertise." He has also become less visible as the venture's public face, with his most recent appearance in a promotional video dating back to May 2022.
Harry and his wife Meghan Markle's documentary, "Cookie Queens", also reportedly failed at the box office. In an interview with Page Six, royal commentator Kinsey Schofield advised the couple to "disappear professionally."

Palantir Technologies (NASDAQ:PLTR) CEO Alex Karp just added a third front to the fight over artificial intelligence (AI) safety on Thursday, arguing that the companies developing the technology -- the Anthropics and OpenAI's of the world -- should face civil and criminal penalties if AI causes the damage their CEOs are warning of.
Speaking with CNBC, Karp said that he agreed that "reasonable guidelines" for the industry should be enforced, but that "you can't do it" and that "the first line of defense" instead should be to hold companies and their leaders responsible for their own actions.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
Karp was weighing in on an ongoing and high-profile debate within the industry. After Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei penned an essay warning that AI capabilities were improving too quickly for researchers to understand and control them and that action must be taken to ensure the public's safety, he was joined by several AI leaders with calls for a slowdown and increased oversight.
Here's a look at what they had to say:

Bitcoin faced this week's second major Washington catalyst on Sep. 16, with the Federal Reserve hiking the interest rates after the Senate failed to advance the CLARITY Act a day earlier.
The Federal Open Market Committee voted 12-0 to raise the federal funds target range by 25 basis points to 3.75%-4.00%, its first increase since 2023. The Fed said inflation "remains elevated" and that the move would support a timelier return to its 2% target.
The unanimous hike puts the central bank directly at odds with President Donald Trump, who has called for lower borrowing costs and said earlier this month that the U.S. "should be paying the lowest interest rate in the world."
The CLARITY Act, which would establish a federal market structure for digital ****** ets and clarify oversight between the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), failed to advance Tuesday in a 49-50 Senate cloture vote. It needed 60 votes to proceed.
The Fed decision matters for Bitcoin because higher interest rates increase yields on lower-risk ****** ets and tighten financial conditions, typically creating a tougher environment for speculative ****** ets.

An Ohio congresswoman is facing major blowback online after suggesting that lynchings are on the rise in the United States, despite that claim being widely debunked last week.
"In the last year, there's been an alarming increase in Black Americans found dead hanging from trees. We know what that has meant throughout our history," said Rep. Shontel Brown, D-Ohio, on X. "That's why I've joined [Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass.] to demand a federal investigation into possible lynchings."
Fox News Digital reviewed some high-profile cases after Pressley's letter to the DOJ demanding "thorough, transparent, and comprehensive federal investigation into every hanging death of a Black individual across the United States." Last week, Pressley and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., posted about the letter on their X accounts, drawing blowback and widespread debunking of the suggestion that there has been an uptick in lynchings.
Rep. Shontel Brown, D-Ohio, takes her seat for the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing with "Sanctuary State Governors" in the Capitol Visitor Center on Thursday, June 12, 2025.

There'll be some added interest in officiating when No. 10 Oklahoma travels to face No. 24 Michigan on Saturday, Sept. 12, after the Wolverines defeated Western Michigan in Week 1 in controversial fashion.
Michigan took down the Broncos 13-12 after Bryce Underwood threw a game-winning 47-yard Hail Mary touchdown to JJ Buchanan as time expired, breaking a scoreless streak that lasted from the opening possession to the last play of the game. Officials added one second to the clock before the game-winning touchdown, which is now the result of an appeal from the MAC and Western Michigan, who have asked the Football Bowl Subdivision Oversight Committee to reverse the outcome of the game, which would result in a WMU win.

Big Ten officials worked Michigan-Western Michigan, which was played in Ann Arbor, Michigan. There won't be Big Ten officials when the Wolverines host the Sooners, though.
Oklahoma defeated Michigan 24-13 last season in Norman, Oklahoma, and dominated the Wolverines' offense for most of the game. The Sooners are looking to end the home-and-home series with a 2-0 mark against the team up north.

Zhihu Inc. (NYSE:ZH) disclosed on September 6 that a wholly owned subsidiary had signed a conditional RMB1.5 billion cash commitment to Tianjin Lisi Xingshen Equity Investment Partnership. The agreement, dated September 4, requires shareholder approval, with payments funded internally through capital calls.
Zhihu Inc. (NYSE:ZH) expects to hold no more than 30% of the fund and will have no role in daily management or individual investment decisions. The blind-pool structure asks shareholders to approve a manager and strategy before specific investments are identified. The fund targets early-to-mid-stage private AI and technology companies with significant mainland China connections.
The strategic rationale fits the company's existing capabilities. Zhihu Inc. (NYSE:ZH) is developing AI search, expert-data solutions and AI-enabled content businesses. Exposure to foundation models, infrastructure, robotics and applications could create technology partnerships and help identify emerging customer needs.
A specialist fund also supplies investment research, deal sourcing and portfolio oversight that would require substantial internal resources to replicate. For shareholders, the potential benefit combines investment returns with commercial opportunities for the core content platform. Any cooperation would still require separate **** sment and agreement.
There is an operating business to build around. Second-quarter paid content and intellectual-property operations revenue increased to RMB425.9 million from RMB408.2 million. Zhihu Inc. (NYSE:ZH) also reduced total operating expenses by 13% to RMB469.4 million. These results support a focused approach in which outside technology complements established content and expert relationships.

ZURICH, Sept 10 (Reuters) - A major shareholder in Novartis has called for a shake-up of the Swiss drugmaker's board to improve corporate governance after its shares suffered a record fall this week following back-to-back trial setbacks.
David Samra, managing director at top 20 investor Artisan Partners and founding partner of International Value Group, said the board needed to strengthen its oversight of acquisitions, calling for action from board chairman Giovanni Caforio.
"I think he needs to make changes at the board level. One of them should be on improving the team that's doing these deals because clearly they have been uninspiring at best," Samra told Reuters in an interview.
"I think that the board needs to improve their oversight of acquisitions... they need to bring in better talent on the board to do that and have an acquisition committee."

Crypto advocates and community bankers are taking their fight over the Clarity Act to senators' home states ahead of a key vote next week.
The Senate is scheduled to hold a procedural vote on the Clarity Act on September 15. The legislation would establish federal rules for digital ******* ets and divide oversight between the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
According to a report by Reuters, during the August recess, both sides targeted senators with meetings, local events, op-eds, calls, emails, and advertising.

In Georgia, chapter president Tia Williams met with staff for Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock, who voted against advancing the bill out of the Senate Banking Committee.

The phrase 'AI weapons' often conjures images of machines making life-and-death decisions without human oversight. Xtend AI Robotics, Inc. Common Stock CEO Aviv Shapira believes that narrative has outpaced reality. While autonomy is advancing rapidly across modern defense systems, he argues the industry's trajectory is not about removing humans from the battlefield, but enabling them to make better decisions by letting AI handle speed, complexity and dangerous tasks.
Shapira rejected the idea that autonomous weapons are headed toward fully independent lethal decision-making. "That is a misconception, at least in terms of where the industry is today," he told Benzinga in an exclusive email interview.

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept 4 (Reuters) - A swarm of rogue OpenAI agents hijacked a German website this spring and transformed it into a bulletin board for other AI agents, according to new research published Friday and two people familiar with the matter.
OpenAI officials learned of the incident weeks ago but kept it under wraps as executives grappled with the fallout from the July breach of the open source repository Hugging Face, the people said.
The episode, which began in May and has not previously been reported, underscores growing tension within the AI industry. Companies are racing to build increasingly autonomous agents capable of carrying out complex, valuable tasks, yet evidence is mounting that those systems may also learn to bend rules, exploit loopholes and coordinate with one another in ways developers neither anticipated nor intended.
During the Hugging Face breach, OpenAI agents autonomously plotted a digital heist that went undetected for more than a week, intensifying concerns OpenAI is sacrificing safety to push the AI frontier. Its failure to disclose the May incident may revive questions about its oversight.

BP has appointed Ian Tyler as chair of the company, effective immediately, according to a Wednesday announcement.
Tyler joined BP's board as a non-executive director in April 2025 and was appointed interim chair in May after the oil giant ousted its former Chair and Director Albert Manifold over concerns related to his oversight and conduct.
BP named Tyler the permanent replacement to Manifold after conducting an extensive search process that included both internal and external candidates, the company said.
"Ian brings significant experience providing challenge and support to executive teams, while maintaining strong governance and oversight on behalf of shareholders," Amanda Blanc, BP's senior independent director, said in the announcement. "These qualities have been evident during his time as Interim Chair, where he has secured the confidence of the board and executive management through his considered leadership, judgement and integrity."

At this point more than two months before the midterm elections, Democrats retaking control of Congress and its subpoena power is far from certain. But President Donald Trump is already laying down legal markers for how he'll fight any attempt by lawmakers to investigate him.
In a Justice Department memo and legal filings, the Trump administration is arguing that the president can keep secret not just the conversations he has with his advisers within the White House, but that his dealings with individuals outside the government can be shielded as well. The White House is also saying in court that even disclosing the identities of the people who worked on significant policy efforts would infringe upon the presidential confidentiality to which Trump is entitled. And the administration has taken the stance that it can ignore a Watergate-era law prohibiting the destruction of White House documents.
The posturing comes as Trump, in his second term, has been notably reliant on a constellation of business moguls, non-government attorneys and old friends to help shape his agenda.
"There has been an unprecedented amount of interaction between the Executive Branch — particularly the White House — and the private sector that Congress has made clear is going to be the subject of oversight," said Jamie Bair, a partner and head of congressional investigations at the law firm Crowell & Moring.
Congressional Democrats are already probing the administration's interactions with FIFA, how Trump's ties to the crypto-industry are affecting federal policy, and other examples of Trump family business maneuverings that Democrats say can be tied to government policies.

One of the strangest scheduling anomalies in all of sports is about to have its swan song this weekend in college football's befuddling and charming Week 0.
The fact that a Week 0 even exists is quintessential college football in that it couldn't really exist anywhere else and make any sense at all. However, it has been alive for years, allowing a select handful of teams an opportunity to begin the regular season a week before everybody else. The weekend is open to anyone playing an international game (TCU-UNC in Dublin, Ireland) and anyone playing an away game at Hawaii to compensate for their extra travel. The NCAA can also provide a waiver for games, although that is rare. This season, it was given to NC State and Virginia as they were originally scheduled to play their season opener in Brazil before it was moved back stateside.
However, 2026 will be the last year that the sport enjoys an appetizer before the regular season truly kicks off in full. The FBS Oversight Committee approved legislation on Friday that will move the calendar up one week so that all teams begin during the week that has served as Week 0.
"Earlier this year, the FBS Calendar Subgroup presented recommendations to the committee to amend the regular season and the off-campus recruiting model," the NCAA briefing said. "In response to those recommendations, a new FBS first-contest date has been adopted and will take effect in the 2027 season. The season will begin on the Thursday of what is now designated Week 0 and end on the Saturday after Thanksgiving."
This year's Week 0 consists of eight games. And while none of them are true barnburners, it's a nice, gentle way to start the regular season. And with American fans starved for any kind of football that matters, we will gladly sit down and watch New Mexico State travel to Florida State in primetime.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani drew ire from conservatives on Tuesday for mourning the death of a man who was awaiting trial on murder charges.
"I am deeply saddened by the death of a New Yorker in City custody at a jail on Rikers Island early this morning," Mamdani posted on X.
Clarence Woodward, the man Mamdani was referencing, was arrested in 2024 and charged with murder, manslaughter and ******* ault in connection with an unprovoked meat cleaver attack at a Bronx laundromat. At the time, Woodward had 27 prior arrests and had received parole just a month prior to the alleged killing. Woodward had pleaded not guilty to the charges and had not been convicted.
"My thoughts are with his family and loved ones as they grieve this loss. We do not yet know the cause of death, but we do know that too many New Yorkers have died on Rikers Island. The Department of Correction and its oversight partners will investigate the circumstances surrounding his death. Our administration is fully committed to the critical work of creating better conditions in our city's jail system and closing Rikers Island as quickly as possible."
Woke Language Overhaul Would Strip The Word 'Inmate' From New York City's Entire Jail Rulebook

WASHINGTON, Aug 25 (Reuters) - Alphabet's Google on Tuesday expanded its Gemini Enterprise artificial intelligence platform with new tools for lawyers and law firms, accelerating a race among technology companies to meet legal sector demand for AI.
The company said its Gemini Enterprise for Legal would help law firms use AI to manage routine and complex work to allow lawyers to focus on higher-value services, while keeping their data secure and confidential.
The new plug-in for Gemini Enterprise includes integration with legal software and data platforms and a stable of AI agents that Google said can handle specialized legal and administrative functions without significant human oversight.
Alphabet launched Gemini Enterprise for business customers in October, in a bid to attract more corporate clients with its AI offerings. Google Cloud has become one of Alphabet's fastest-growing businesses.

OpenAI's head of data centers, Chris Malone, has left the company, adding to a string of senior executive departures at the artificial intelligence lab this year.
TechCrunch first reported his departure. Malone, who brought experience from data center roles at Meta and Google, came aboard in March 2025, and his exit arrives amid OpenAI's sweeping infrastructure expansion — one that envisions committing around $600 billion to compute through 2030, per CNBC.
OpenAI said in a statement that the company had "recently reorganized" its "infrastructure organization to support the scale and pace of our work," adding that it has "a strong, deeply experienced data center team in place, with clear leadership and the technical expertise to execute our plans." Under the new structure, Malone's reporting line shifted away from OpenAI President Greg Brockman and moved to OpenAI Vice President Sachin Katti, who ***** umed oversight of the group, according to TechCrunch. Responsibility for data center strategy is now distributed across a handful of leaders: Uday Ruddarraju heads the data center team, Brent Mayo manages the build and delivery program, and Spas Lazarov oversees data center engineering.
Malone's exit is one piece of a broader pattern of attrition at the top of the company. According to TechCrunch, Business Insider put the total count of senior departures in 2026 at 13, with a notable cluster occurring in recent weeks.
Earlier this month, Chief Revenue Officer Denise Dresser announced she was leaving after nine months on the job and will be replaced by Dali Rajic, who most recently served as president and chief operating officer of cybersecurity company Wiz. Her departure came just days after Brad Lightcap, who spent eight years at OpenAI, including a four-year run as chief operating officer, said he was leaving to start a new venture. Before those exits, product and business chief Fidji Simo stepped down last month to manage a chronic illness, and Chief Marketing Officer Kate Rouch left in April for health reasons.

Delaware North, one of the largest and most diversified hospitality and food service companies in the world, has partnered with TipHaus to streamline and automate tip management across its portfolio of venues.
For an operator of Delaware North's scale and diversity, spanning stadiums, arenas, resorts, destination restaurants, and entertainment venues, tip management has traditionally meant a patchwork of manual, location-by-location processes, each with its own rules and reconciliation headaches. Since bringing TipHaus on board in March 2025, Delaware North has replaced that fragmented approach with a single automated system that handles hundreds of distinct tip-pooling and distribution use cases across its operations. Today, TipHaus supports more than 40 locations for Delaware North.
"Partnering with TipHaus has helped Delaware North streamline and modernize our tip management process, reducing administrative effort while improving accuracy and transparency for our leaders," said Michele Seaver, Director of Payroll and Workforce Management at Delaware North. "What used to take a full day of coordination now takes just a couple of hours to pull a single enterprise-wide export. Given the diversity and complexity of our portfolio, the flexibility of the TipHaus platform, and the collaborative partnership we have built with the TipHaus team have been extremely valuable. Their willingness to adapt solutions and get creative to meet our unique operational needs has helped us drive greater consistency across our business while supporting a better experience for all involved," Seaver said.
TipHaus integrates directly with the systems Delaware North already runs, including Oracle Simphony, Toast, and UKG Dimensions, pulling sales, shift, and labor data automatically so that tip calculations run without manual data entry from each location. Rather than forcing a rigid, one-size-fits-all model, TipHaus configures to the specific rules of each property, allowing Delaware North to standardize oversight at the enterprise level while honoring the operational realities of each individual venue.

Gemini is a crypto exchange that built its reputation on the idea of keeping your crypto safe and staying on the right side of regulators. Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, the twins behind it, launched the exchange in 2014 and still run it out of New York under strict state banking rules.
That focus shapes the whole product. You can buy, sell, and hold crypto in all 50 states through a simple screen built for beginners or through ActiveTrader, a full platform with live charts and an order book. The exchange offers bank-grade oversight and insurance on your cash and a portion of your crypto.
However, the coverage and features you get carry a cost. Basic trades run pricier here than on some of its major rivals, and the coin list it offers runs short.
So, who is Gemini actually right for? Here is what we found when we dug into the fees, the features, and the fine print.

While it seems that Democrats and Republicans can't agree on much of anything these days, there's at least one common enemy that's bringing both sides of the aisle together: data centers. Representatives on both sides of the aisle are increasingly pushing back against hyperscalers who are developing massive data center campuses on local energy grids, driving up energy demand and therefore causing electricity prices to skyrocket for everyone, whether they benefit from the artificial intelligence boom or not.
The Trump administration has attempted to resolve the issue by pushing the tech sector to provide its own energy sources to power its rapidly proliferating data centers. But while the legislation ostensibly pushes the responsibility of energy buildout – and the money to support it – back onto the tech firms responsible for skyrocketing energy demand rates in the first place, there is some concern that the policy may yield some considerable and costly unintended consequences.
Trump "essentially envisions a bespoke new power system built in parallel to the existing one," argues a recent op-ed from the energy editor of non-partisan news outlet Semafor. By inviting Big Tech to build its own energy infrastructure, policymakers are inviting the private sector to create a shadow grid that operates outside of the regulations that govern our standard electricity grids, and the oversight mechanisms that ensure compliance with other policy measures, such as environmental protections.
Plus, by encouraging Big Tech to invest in its own energy infrastructure, the country is missing out on a major opportunity to encourage much-needed investment in its own aging grid at a time when more resilience and greater transmission infrastructure is sorely needed. "Most of today's cost pressure is coming from transmission, distribution, and system readiness, not energy supply," Brandon Owens, a grid expert and founder of advisory platform AIxEnergy, was quoted by Politico last week. "Those costs remain even if a data center self-supplies generation."
Despite these concerns, Big Tech is pushing ahead with some truly gargantuan energy infrastructure projects, most of which are being developed in tandem with sprawling data center campuses. Amazon is currently building a gas-fired power plant in Texas that is set to become the single-biggest source of power-related emissions in the entire United States. And just this week, Nvidia announced that it would team up with ****** an's SoftBank and the United States government to build the country's largest fossil-fuel plant to power an OpenAI project in Ohio.

Rep. Pat Fallon (R-Texas) said Monday he does not "make much" of reports that allege crew members aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln are suffering from declining mental health and supply shortages due to its long deployment.
In an appearance on Fox Business's "Mornings with Maria" anchored by Cheryl Casone, Fallon, a member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, responded to the reports and calls for congressional oversight into the physical and mental state of crew members on the ship.
"These reports are just that. I haven't heard anything personally from our office, and I trust the Navy to do this as well. So, I don't make much of it, to be honest," he said.
Casone confirmed the congressman was not concerned about the reports but cited the aircraft carrier's deployment, saying "260 days is a long time, you know, for a deployment."
"There's no doubt about it," the lawmaker responded. "When I served, I always prefer to be stateside, if possible, but that's part of the job: to deploy."

On August 13, Alphabet's (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Google unveiled Gemini 3.7 Flash, a new AI model built for coding and automated business tasks. The launch came without word on when the company's flagship Gemini 3.5 Pro model will arrive, a gap investors have watched closely as a gauge of whether Google's DeepMind unit can keep pace with Anthropic and OpenAI. It also landed the same week that Alphabet closed a $25 billion bond sale and posted its first-ever negative free cash flow quarter.
Gemini 3.7 Flash arrived just three weeks after Gemini 3.6 Flash, a pace that signals Google is iterating quickly on the models it hopes will power autonomous AI agents. The new model targets businesses building systems that can plan tasks, use software tools, and complete multi-step workflows with less human oversight, and Google says it shows improved performance on coding tasks including debugging, issue resolution, and production-ready code generation. To win over developers, Google priced Gemini 3.7 Flash at 75 cents per million input tokens and $3.75 per million output tokens through the end of the year, half the original cost of Gemini 3.6 Flash. It is also rolling out immediately to Gemini Spark, Google's subscription AI agent service available in more than 160 countries.
That pricing sits alongside a cloud business converting AI investment into revenue. Google Cloud's backlog has climbed to $514 billion, and Alphabet expects to recognize a little more than half of it as revenue over the next 24 months. Alphabet also holds more than $240 billion in cash and marketable securities, giving it room to keep funding its buildout as free cash flow comes under pressure.
Alphabet's capital expenditures are now guided to $195 billion to $205 billion for 2026, up from $91 billion in 2025 and $53 billion in 2024. Second-quarter capex alone was $45 billion, double the year-earlier figure, pushing Alphabet to a quarterly free cash flow loss of $5.9 billion. Buybacks have gone to zero, and Alphabet raised roughly $56 billion in debt plus about $50 billion from stock sales in the first half to help cover the gap.
That borrowing culminated in a $25 billion, ten-tranche bond sale that closed Monday, ranging from notes due in 2028 to a $2.5 billion tranche not due until 2066. Much of that money funds servers and networking gear that Alphabet itself depreciates over about six years, meaning a large share of this year's spending will need to be repaid all over again long before the longest bonds come due.
