Texas A&M's six remaining home games during the 2026 season will serve as critical recruiting opportunities for coach Mike Elko and his staff, especially in the 2028 recruiting cycle, as five-star quarterback Donald Tabron III and four-star Edge Chance Archangel serve as the lone commits in the class and will make their way back to campus this fall.
Plenty of intriguing names in the cycle will visit this weekend when the Aggies host Arizona State on Saturday afternoon, while five-star wide receiver Braylon Clark recently placed Texas A&M in his top 12 program list and will visit College Station on October 3 when the Aggies host Arkansas.
Under Mike Elko, Texas A&M has developed NFL talent at nearly every position, especially after a record-tying 10 players were selected in the 2026 NFL Draft back in late April. Elko's background as one of the best defensive coordinators in the country, currently serving as the Aggies' defensive playcaller, has continued to make its way to the eyes and ears of up-and-coming defenders, including 2028 four-star Edge David Dotson.
During his recent interview with Rivals insider Sam Spiegelman, Dotson named Texas A&M among several programs that "have his attention" heading into the fall months.
"Texas, Oklahoma, SMU, Texas A&M, Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia, LSU, and Alabama all have my attention," Dotson continued. "They've each shown me why they want me and how I could fit into their program. The relationships with the coaches, player development, culture, academics, and overall fit are all important to me."

Four-star athlete Za'Kari Johnson is one of Florida State football's top commits in the 2027 recruiting cycle, but they will have to keep fighting to hold onto his commitment. He visited the Texas A&M Aggies last weekend, and on Thursday he will be visiting the Miami Hurricanes, according to On3's EJ Holland.
"I just want to see Miami football," Johnson said. "Miami has always been my dream school. Being a kid from South Florida, I look up to all the greats. I've seen them ball. It motivates me."
Johnson is ranked as the No. 296 overall player and No. 9 athlete in the Rivals industry ranking. He is also the No. 27 player from Florida. He explained what he needs to see from the Seminoles for him to stay committed.
"(My commitment) stands good right now," Johnson said. "I need them to win, though. I need them to ball… I love Mike (Norvell). I hope he can stay. A lot of people say he might not stay. But I hope he can stay, so I can go there."
FSU and Miami appear to be headed in very different directions one week into the 2026 season. The Hurricanes are 1-0 and national ******* le contenders, while the Seminoles are 1-1 and Mike Norvell is fighting for his job. Miami also has another advantage in their pursuit of Johnson, he is teammates with five-star Miami wide receiver commit Nick Lennear, who would surely love to play with him at the next level.

Sunday's Apple Cup won't be the only competition the Washington Huskies will be involved in this weekend, as Jedd Fish and his coaching staff are set to host a staggering 41 recruits on unofficial visits. The incoming visitors consist of commits and prospects from the 2027, 2028, and 2029 classes.
While most of the prospects making their way to Montlake are from Washington's traditional recruiting footprint along the West Coast, the Huskies are still looking to extend their footprint across the United States.
Among the 2027 commits who will be in Seattle on Sunday are four-star wide receiver Tre Moore and four-star edge rusher Chaz Gray. Moore is entering his senior year at Pflugerville Weiss High School in Texas, while Gray has starred at St. Joseph Regional in New Jersey. Both players are ranked inside the top 25 in their respective states, according to 247Sports.
Making up a majority of the visiting cast are 2028 prospects. Out of the 26 high school juniors set to visit, 12 are making a cross-country trip. The list includes:

Texas A&M will kick off the 2026 regular season against Missouri State on Saturday night, which will include five of the Aggies' five-star commits in the No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class, led by senior St. Thomas Aquinas offensive tackle Mark Matthews, who is coming off Friday night's thrilling 31-24 victory to stay undefeated this year.
One of the more refined pass-protecting tackles in the 2027 cycle, Matthews is widely considered to have first-round NFL Draft potential, and after committing to Texas A&M over Miami, Aggie fans are waiting for the blue-chip big man to officially shut down his recruitment and sign with the program in early December.
Late last month, Matthews revealed in an interview with GigEm247's Cade Draughon that he plans to announce his recruitment shutdown in due time and will release a statement on X, but for the remaining fans still unsure if the Florida native is truly locked in with the Aggies, his post-game interview with Marcus Benjamin stated that he is "a thousand percent locked in" with Texas A&M.
When asked what Texas A&M fans should expect from Matthews in Year 1, the incoming freshman simply responded, "The film, I promise I'm going to drop myself in the SEC and do the same thing." When asked which teams are still in pursuit, he mentioned only the Miami Hurricanes and coach Mario Cristobal, which isn't surprising given the in-state connection.
Matthews is expected to make his way to College Station this weekend and attend Texas A&M vs. Missouri State on Saturday night.

The NFL and NFL Players ****** ociation announced this week, out of the blue, a new procedure for imposing automatic suspensions on players who commit three violations of one of five specific safety rules: hip-drop tackles, horse-collar tackles, launching, hits on defenseless players, and blindside blocks.
There's a lot to process in this yellow-card style approach to stacking violations in advance of automatic consequences.
First, it's important to remember that a suspension only happens when a player commits three violations of one of the five specific rules. In theory, a player could have two violations as to each rule and not be suspended.
Second, some have asked what happens when there's a fourth violation. For each violation after the third, the player gets suspended for one game. And, because a player who has three violations in a given year carries two of them into the next season, a player who is suspended once will continue to be one infraction away from another suspension for the rest of the current season — and for all of the next season.
Third, the formula extends into the postseason. If the player gets his third violation in Week 18, he misses the first playoff game. If he gets his third violation in the wild-card round, he'll be suspended for the divisional round (if his team wins). If his team loses in the playoff round when the third violation occurs, he'll miss Week 1 of the next season.

Notre Dame football has a fantastic 2027 recruiting class, with four 5-star commits in the 247Sports composite, but it could have been more and might still have a chance at adding another.
At one time it seemed like Florida linebacker Kaden Henderson would commit to the Irish, but ended up picking Texas A&M instead. It's the one position that Notre Dame has struggled with in the cycle, but it looks like there's potential to change Henderson's mind.
According to a report by 247Sports Cade Draughon (subscription required), Henderson told him "Miami and Notre Dame are the only schools that'll be talking to me still. But yeah, my recruitment is pretty set, pretty much shut down." While it's not a wide open door, it does seem like the elite linebacker hasn't completely ruled out a flip.
He's clearly still talking to the Irish and Hurricanes, which tend you to think there's at least a slight chance for him to flip. Notre Dame should continue to recruit Henderson, even if he does shut down, he's that good at a need position in the class.

On August 17, 2026, OceanaGold Corporation (NYSE:OGC) agreed to acquire Australian gold developer Ausgold for about A$776 million, roughly $549 million. It gives OceanaGold ownership of the Katanning Gold Project in Western Australia and marks its first acquisition in Australia.
OceanaGold is paying a real premium for a development-stage gold project years away from production, expanding into a new country for the first time. So does Katanning give OceanaGold a genuinely valuable growth ***** et, or is this an expensive bet on a mine that won't produce gold until 2029 at the earliest?
Image by Csaba Nagy from Pixabay
CEO Gerard Bond called Katanning "an advanced, high-quality, low-capital, open-pit development ***** et" that fits naturally alongside OceanaGold Corporation (NYSE:OGC)'s existing operations in the US, New Zealand, and the Philippines. Ausgold holds more than 3,000 square kilometers of largely underexplored land across the Katanning greenstone belt, giving OceanaGold real exploration upside. The company said the deal should be accretive to net ***** et value, cash flow, and earnings per share once Katanning reaches commercial production.
First gold production isn't expected until 2029. It means OceanaGold Corporation (NYSE:OGC) commits real capital years before the ***** et generates revenue, and Ausgold holders will own 6% to 8% of the combined company, diluting existing OceanaGold shareholders. OceanaGold also had to extend a A$20 million bridge loan to Ausgold just to fund its operations before the deal even closes.

It appears that the college career of Tre Holloman will continue. On Thursday, it was reported by On3 that Holloman has committed to Grand Canyon of the Mountain West Conference. Holloman played last season for NC State after starting his career with Michigan State basketball.
Last summer, Holloman became one of the most polarizing figures in recent MSU history when he shocked Spartan fans by transferring to NC State to play for Will Wade. Holloman had a solid season for the Wolfpack, and was able to parlay that into a roster spot with the Orlando Magic's NBA Summer League team, where he got to play with Jase Richardson one more time.
Now, Holloman appears to be getting one more season of college basketball, as long as the rules hold up for fifth year players to be eligible this year in the increasingly confusing saga of player eligibility in college sports.

The NFL and NFL Players ******* ociation have agreed to a new system aimed at enhancing player safety. It calls for a suspension if a player violates a given rule three times in the same year.
The five applicable rules are hip-drop tackles, horse-collar tackles, launching, hits on defenseless players and blindside blocks.
The suspension applies only if a player commits three violations of the same rule. For example, three hip-drop tackles will trigger a suspension. Two hip-drop tackles and one horse-collar tackle won't.
So how would this new procedure have applied in recent years? Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the NFLPA informed players on Wednesday that one player would have been suspended in 2024, and one player would have been suspended in 2025.
Players often view fines as the cost of playing football the way they believe football should be played. The possibility of a suspension should make them view it differently, because a third violation of the same rule will keep them off the field.

The Illinois basketball program will get another opportunity to host one of its 2027 commits in Champaign this fall.
According to 247Sports' Dushawn London, Illinois commit Quinton Kitt will take an official visit to Illinois on Oct. 22.
Kitt has been committed to Illinois since November, when the East Peoria native chose the Illini over a number of high-major offers, including Iowa, Michigan and Northwestern. He became the first member of Illinois' 2027 recruiting class.
The 6-foot-6 forward has continued to rise up the national recruiting rankings since his commitment. 247Sports Composite currently has Kitt rated as a four-star prospect and the No. 74 player nationally.
Kitt visited Illinois last August. At the time, Kitt told TCR that he was looking for a program that could develop him, help him reach the next level and compete for March Madness appearances.

CHATTANOOGA — Brentwood Academy senior linebacker Kenneth Simon II took the result a little harder than some of his teammates.
The Eagles' 38-20 season-opening loss at Baylor on Aug. 20 was a TSSAA football state championship rematch of last year's Division II-AAA final. But it was also a nationally televised bragging-rights affair played between some of the nation's top recruits, with seven Power 4 commits on the field.
That made it more difficult for Simon as a defender to watch fellow Tennessee football commit and Baylor five-star running back David Gabriel Georges wrap up his postgame interview on ESPN2 and skip to the locker room.
Gabriel Georges rushed for 172 rushing yards — most in the second half — and added three touchdowns all after halftime to go with 78 yards receiving.

HIVE Digital Technologies (NASDAQ:HIVE) has secured a $350 million AI cloud services agreement through its BUZZ HPC subsidiary, adding about $70 million in annualized revenue under a five-year contract with an investment-grade enterprise customer.
The deal increases BUZZ HPC's total annualized revenue to approximately $180 million and commits HIVE to deploying a new 2,016-GPU AI infrastructure cluster later in 2026, making execution and financing of that buildout key areas for investors to monitor.
The $350 million AI cloud services agreement provides BUZZ HPC with five years of contracted revenue visibility from an investment-grade enterprise customer.
HIVE (NASDAQ:HIVE) says the contract adds approximately $70 million of ARR, taking total BUZZ HPC annualized revenue to roughly $180 million.
Around $145 million of BUZZ HPC's total contracted ARR is expected to come online through Q4 2026, compared with approximately $35 million of active, realized ARR today.

A New York democratic socialist lawmaker's reference to shoplifting being the result of a "biological need" is getting swift blowback.
New York state **** emblywoman Emily Gallagher suggested this week that aggressive prosecution of theft of items like soap and toothpaste was wrongheaded, saying the "true crime is that there is such incredible wealth disparity in this city that there are people who can be thrown in jail simply for having a biological need."
"This is exactly the wrong way to talk about crime and poverty. Poverty can help explain why someone commits an offense," former Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg told Fox News Digital. "It should matter when prosecutors decide how to handle a case. But poverty is not a permission slip to steal."
Aronberg, who now leads his own law firm, rejected the suggestion that prosecution necessarily means incarceration and pointed to alternatives available for first-time offenders.

The Wisconsin Badgers have compiled what 247Sports considers the nation's 25th-best recruiting class for the class of 2027, combining a strong mix of talent on both sides of the ball, with the highest-touted recruit being 4-star safety Mekhi Williams. Looking one year further, recent reports have surfaced that the Badgers are in for four-star class of 2028 offensive lineman Kajus Muralis, who currently attends Waubonsie Valley High School and is set to attend visits for both Wisconsin and the Badgers' week one opponent: Notre Dame.
With Muralis still having two years of high school football left to play, there is every chance he gets the consensus ***** p up to a four-star, rather than the back-and-forth situation his ranking is at right now. South Carolina has signed a top-20 recruiting class — according to the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings — in each of the last four cycles. Head coach Shane Beamer and his staff are working to make it five in a row this winter.
As of Aug. 16, the Gamecocks have the No. 25 class in the nation. That also ranks 13th out of 16 SEC teams. Some teams have already filled out an entire pledge list, but USC currently has just 17 total commits heading into football season.
Eight of the 17 commits in the class are blue-chippers. The headliner gave the Gamecocks what might be the biggest recruiting victory of the Beamer era on July 1. Cornelius (N.C.) William Amos Hough five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson chose USC over Michigan, Auburn, Texas A&M and others. He's the highest-rated defensive commit in program history.
"I love the people at South Carolina. They always made it feel like home," Dobson told Rivals' Chad Simmons. "The development, not only on the field, but off the field, was big too. They will help me become a better man. Also on the field, I know Coach Gray and Coach White will take care of me and develop me."
Dobson also kicked off a massive string of commits for the Gamecocks last month. Each of the first four days of July brought a pledge from a blue-chipper. Dobson, Hough four-star safety Davion Jones, Irmo (S.C.) four-star interior offensive lineman Nate Carson and Raleigh (N.C.) Rolesville four-star EDGE Jayden Broadie vaulted South Carolina up to No. 25 in the team rankings.

LSU football faced a depth problem at defensive end heading into the offseason. It addressed by keeping multiple highly-rated 2026 commits and bringing in proven talent from the transfer portal. Defensive coordinator Blake Baker shared confidence in the group during fall camp.
Baker highlighted Ole Miss transfer Princewill Umanmielen and Tennessee transfer Jordan Ross, saying he's seen "a lot of growth" since their arrival in the spring. He also highlighted redshirt junior Dylan Carpenter, who developed into a key depth piece in 2025.
"Dylan Carpenter is a guy that he's absolutely been outstanding," Baker said. "When you talk about where he came in as a freshman to where he is now, you know, you don't see that much anymore because a lot of times they'll leave before that, but, man, I can't be more complimentary to him."
The Tigers lack experience down the depth chart past their starters on the defensive line, but Baker showed confidence in young guys like five-star true freshman Lamar Brown and redshirt sophomore Kolaj Cobbins. He feels LSU displays balance with different strengths, which will be the key to success.
"I feel good about our depth," Baker said. "I think we have some really good explosion off the edge as well and they're all complimentary of each other. Some guys have really good strengths in one area compared to another, so we're going to be able to play around with those weapons."

The start of the 2026 high school football season is nearly here, and several FSU Seminoles commits had impressive showings over the weekend in their final preseason action.
Three-star athlete commit Chayse Brown is being recruited as someone who could play on either side of the ball for the Seminoles, and he showcased his ability as a wide receiver on Friday for Lennard High School in their exhibition against Osceola.
In the first clip he posted on social media, Brown was able to beat the cornerback and make a tough catch for about a 30-yard gain with the safety closing in. He did not have to do nearly as much in the second clip, with the defense leaving him wide open in the end zone for a short touchdown catch as Lennard won 68-0.
Brown is a member of FSU's 2028 recruiting class and committed to them back in June, shortly after they offered him a scholarship following a great showing at a camp they hosted in Tallahassee. They are recruiting him as a wide receiver and a defensive back.
He is ranked as the No. 611 overall player and No. 51 athlete in the 247Sports composite. The Ruskin product is also the No. 79 player from Florida.

On Saturday, Texas A&M landed its second commitment in the 2028 recruiting class as five-star quarterback Donald Tabron II chose the Aggies over LSU and Oregon, as expected based on his recent interviews and strong relationships with the coaching staff, especially coach Mike Elko and QB coach Joey Lynch.
Entering his junior season at Cass Technical in Detroit, Tabron led his squad to a 13-1 record last season, as the 6-foot-4, 190-pounder threw for 2,819 yards and 35 touchdowns. During his young career, totaling 24 appearances, he has thrown for 4,475 yards and 52 touchdowns.
Extremely productive, Tabron's accuracy, quick release, and impressive arm strength provide a blueprint for Elko and his staff, who will look to lock down the blue-chip signal-caller this time next year, but will gladly take his commitment as a sign that even if LSU and Oregon continue their pursuit, Texas A&M will remain his next home.
Just hours after committing to the Aggies, Tabron spoke to 247Sports insider Tom Loy, and, following the trend of several 2027 commits, including five-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews, Tabron stated, "Elko era, Gig 'em," when discussing his decision, noting the culture Mike Elko is building, while naming several fellow 2028 prospects that he would like to see the Aggies pursue.
On paper, Tabron looks like the future starting quarterback if he continues on the same path, and looks like a perfect fit under new offensive coordinator Holmon Wiggins. Here is the entire interview with 247Sports' Tom Loy.

One big trend in college football has been transfers coming into new programs and making a big difference. It has gotten to the point where, more often than not, transfers in the portal get more priority over high school commits. With that being said, the right transfers still can change a program's fortunes in one season. The USC Trojans hope that can be true regarding Alex VanSumeren. He is already creating a ton of buzz, prior to this upcoming season.
VanSumeren is a defensive tackle from Michigan State with a ton of experience. He spent the last 4 seasons with the Spartans, and he was very productive in his 24 starts. Last season, he recorded 52 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He is most known for his run-stopping ability, exactly what the doctor ordered for the Trojans.
For a Trojans team that is younger, older leaders are needed, especially on the defensive side of the ball. That is exactly where VanSumeren can thrive the most. He has one season of eligibility left, but as a leader, he can leave a longer impact than what he does on the field this season. Already, he has been chosen as a leader of this team. The best example of that is his being selected to speak at Big Ten Media Day for the Trojans.
VanSumeren knows how to play Big Ten football, and he will be a big ****** et up front in helping the Trojans stop the run against many dominant run teams on their schedule. This Trojans defensive line will be in good hands with a player of VanSumeren's talent and what he can provide as a leader.

Happy Sunday Husky fans. Last week I took the weekend off as it's somewhat of a slower time in recruiting, however with camp in full action and some recruiting news trickling in I wanted to mention some news that was pretty massive. With high school football about to kick in there will likely be more news not only on the 2027 front but also on the 2028 front.
5 star defensive end Jalanie George from Desert Edge HS, AZ was recently predicted to be leaning to UW with some predictions coming in from On3. George, who is rated as the 2nd best prospect in the country by On3, already has a really good frame (he's listed at 6'5" and around 240 pounds currently). George narrowed his list to a top 6 a couple months ago and the Huskies were the only west coats program on the list. As a sophomore last season George had 16 TFL's and 6.5 sacks on a team with 2 current Husky commits (QB Blake Roskopf, and WR Zerek Sidney). The Huskies would love to add another top player from Arizona and Coach Fisch and his staff have really taken advantage of their prior relationships in that state. It sounds like George could be making a decision soon, and if that's the case I like where the Huskies stand for him. If the Huskies are able to reel him in it would be another massive win for Coach Fisch and his staff.
5 star offensive tackle Antijuan Wilkes from Cass Technical HS, MI was offered by the Huskies staff this last week. On3 has him rated as the 5th best offensive lineman in the 2028 class. Offensive line coach Mike Switzer has been recruiting really well over the last couple of cycles and is definitely taking some shots on some top prospects around the country after landing 5 star offensive lineman Kodi Greene in the 2026 class. Wilkes, has a good frame to grow into (6'5" and around 265 pounds currently), and already holds offers from most of the top programs around the country. It will be interesting to track Wilkes over the next year to see if the Huskies can get him on campus.
That is all for today and as more recruiting news comes out I will make sure to share it here. A lot of high school teams will start to kick off their seasons over the next several weeks as well so there will be some news to share. That is all for today and as always follow me asieverkropp.

California hired Tosh Lupoi to be its new head football coach, bringing the former Oregon defensive coordinator back to his alma mater. It hasn't taken him long to get the Golden Bears on the right track from a recruiting standpoint.
Doing its best to go toe-to-toe with the best in its state and the ACC, Cal currently has the No. 21 class in the 2027 Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. As of Aug. 6, it has 25 total commits, including 11 four-stars.
To no surprise, the in-state trail has served Cal well. It has commitments from five of the top 25 prospects in the Golden State and 16 in-state prospects overall. The headliner is a top-100 overall recruit in Westlake Village (Calif.) Westlake four-star wide receiver Charles Davis.
The 6-foot-4, 190-pounder leads what looks like one of the best pass-catching quartets in the nation. Davis, Sacramento Grant Union four-star tight end Rahzario Edwards, Westlake four-star WR Demare Dezuern and Honolulu (Hi.) Mililani four-star WR Zion White are the four highest-ranked commits in the class.
Sutter (Calif.) four-star EDGE Troy Bowens is the top-ranked commit on the defensive side of the ball. His pledge came in March and was an early catalyst for the Bears as they began to stack recruiting wins throughout the spring.

SpaceX's $18.4B AI capex is a fraction of the $860B rivals plan to spend in 2026, an 80% year-over-year increase.
Amazon commits $220B and Meta up to $145B for AI this year, while ****** eX rents compute capacity to Google and Anthropic instead.
xAI's Grok trails Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini in Apple's App Store rankings, exposing ****** eX's weak enterprise and consumer AI footprint.
Act now: the ****** yst who called NVIDIA in 2010 just named his top 10 AI stocks — and ****** eX didn't make the cut. Grab the names FREE today.
Someone, please tell me if I'm wrong. ****** eX (NASDAQ: SPCX) said its capital expenditures were $18.4 billion in the quarter that just ended. Almost all of the spending is going toward AI. By the same token, Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL) says it will spend a ton more. Yahoo reports, "Oracle expects capital expenditures of up to $95 billion in fiscal 2027, though it expects repayments from customers for up ‌to $25 billion of that." And that number is small by megatech company standards.

The Big Ten is atop the college football world and it is consistently at or near the top of the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings, too.
USC signed the nation's No. 1 class in the 2026 cycle. There's currently eight Big Ten programs with a top-25 class in the 2027 cycle. That includes all the usual suspects, along with a couple of surprising additions.
$19.99 gets you a FULL year of On3 | Rivals national coverage
There are some disparities when looking at the best classes in the league. Some schools have already compiled well over 20 commits. Others, notably USC, still have room to add or aren't planning to take a massive haul this time around.
Rivals takes a look at the Big Ten classes that rank the highest based off blue-chip (four and five-star) commit percentage:

A big recruiting domino is now set to fall in the shape of Richmond Randle running back Landen Williams-Callis, who has announced that he will be making his college commitment on August 1st, and the finalists are the Houston Cougars, Missouri Tigers, SMU Mustangs, Texas Longhorns, and Texas A&M Aggies, all schools that received official visits from the big-time running back.
Williams-Callis will announce his decision on Dave Campbell's Texas Football at 6:45 p.m. Central.
The Longhorns got the final official visit with the dynamic running back during the official visit window in June, and they have since been trending positively in this recruitment, including numerous commits tweeting at the 5'7.5, 190-pounder in recent days.
Williams-Callis is the nation's leading returning ball carrier heading into the 2026 season and would certainly add juice to the backfield he elects to join on Saturday.
Texas already has one running back commitment for the 2027 class in Noah Roberts, but they are pushing to add Williams-Callis before shutting things down at the position for the cycle. Williams-Callis has been a high-priority target for Texas running backs coach Jabbar Juluke since he was hired, and despite initially not getting traction early on, things have been trending towards the Longhorns down the home stretch.
