Emerald Wealth Partners, an independent ***** et and wealth management firm based in Zurich, released its Q2 2026 investor letter for the "Focused Equity Strategy." A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. The Strategy reported a 0.8% gross return for the second quarter of 2026. Equity markets rallied after the first quarter's Iran shock faded and oil prices reversed their spike, but the advance remained narrow and concentrated in cyclical semiconductor and memory stocks benefiting from supply constraints. The letter warned that investors were treating peak-cycle earnings as durable, while FOMO, IPO demand, and a US cyclically adjusted P/E ratio near 40 pointed to late-cycle market behavior. Long-term fundamentals are currently undervalued by the market, leading to underperformance in the strategy, notably due to the portfolio's avoidance of low-quality momentum-driven semiconductor stocks, which boosted the benchmark this quarter. It remains focused on enterprise infrastructure, digital platforms, custom silicon, and networking businesses that hold customer relationships, workflow data, distribution, and efficiency advantages, which could allow them to monetize AI rather than be displaced by it. Please review the Strategy's top five holdings for its key selections.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Emerald Wealth Partners Focused Equity Strategy highlighted ASML Holding N.V. (NASDAQ:ASML). ASML Holding N.V. (NASDAQ:ASML), a lithography solutions provider for the development, production, marketing, sales, upgrading, and servicing of advanced semiconductor equipment systems, contributed 156 bps to the strategy's performance during the quarter. On August 4, 2026, ASML Holding N.V. (NASDAQ:ASML) closed at $1,711.89 per share. One-month return of ASML Holding N.V. (NASDAQ:ASML) was -3.21% and its shares gained 147.76% over the past 52 weeks. ASML Holding N.V. (NASDAQ:ASML) has a market capitalization of $648.21 billion.
Emerald Wealth Partners Focused Equity Strategy stated the following regarding ASML Holding N.V. (NASDAQ:ASML) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"ASML Holding N.V. (NASDAQ:ASML) rose 51.0%, adding 156 bps benefitting from the euphoria surrounding the semiconductor sector. Its monopoly in advanced lithography remains one of the most durable competitive positions we own. Each new generation of its machines allows chipmakers to pack more transistors into less silicon. This steady improvement in efficiency — better performance per watt, easier thermal management, a lower cost per unit of compute — is what underpins further advances in AI, and every other application where efficient chips matter."

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – New observations of some of Neptune's moons and rings are providing evidence of a catastrophe that occurred billions of years ago around the solar system's outermost planet in which a Pluto-sized interloper caused a celestial demolition derby.
Researchers used NASA's James Webb ***** e Telescope to examine the composition of three of Neptune's small inner moons — Proteus, Larissa and Galatea — and its inner dusty rings, and detected clay minerals that one might expect to find deep inside certain worlds in the outer reaches of the solar system. These magnesium-rich minerals are known to exist on the dwarf planet Ceres, which orbits in the main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, and in some meteorites.
"These minerals require prolonged contact between liquid water and rock to form," said planetary scientist Ryleigh Davis, a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, San Diego, and lead author of the study published in the journal Science Advances.
"The moons themselves are far too small and cold for that chemistry to have occurred in place, so the clay had to come from somewhere else — the deep interior of a much larger ancient world. Finding this material on Neptune's inner moons points to a catastrophic event in Neptune's past that destroyed those ancient worlds and exposed their deep interiors, with the small moons and rings we see today re-forming from that wreckage," said Davis, who worked on the study while at Caltech.

Former England Test captain Ben Stokes has dismissed suggestions that England alone has a drinking problem, arguing that alcohol has long been embedded in cricket's culture across all levels of the sport.

Speaking on the For The Love of Cricket podcast with former teammates Stuart Broad and Jos **** ler, the 35-year-old reflected on cricket's long-standing relationship with alcohol just weeks after announcing his retirement from international cricket.
During the discussion, Broad put forward a question many fans have been asking in recent years: Does England cricket have a drinking problem? Stokes disagreed with the premise, insisting the issue extends far beyond one national team.

"No, I mean, that's such an extreme thing to put on a team. I think cricket has just a drinking culture and it hasn't changed. We are in 2026 now where the game has gone more professional over the years. One thing that has just stayed within cricket is its relationship with alcohol, from club cricket all the way up," Ben Stokes said.

Stokes added that despite major advances in nutrition, medical support and athlete preparation, cricket's traditional **** ociation with alcohol continues to exist.

"It's been embedded within the sport. The relationship between alcohol and cricket is something that hasn't moved on as the game has become more professional. There's been more science, medicine and nutrition information. So people think England cricket has a culture with alcohol, but I would say no, cricket has a culture **** ociated with alcohol, " he added.
Stokes' remarks come against the backdrop of a recent disciplinary incident that saw him suspended for one Test after breaching team curfew during England's series against New Zealand.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) stood down both Stokes and teammate Gus Atkinson for the second Test following a late-night outing. Although an investigation later cleared both players of further wrongdoing and they returned for the third Test, the incident prompted the ECB to introduce stricter alcohol guidelines for England players.

Shortly after returning to the squad, Stokes announced his retirement from international cricket, bringing an end to his distinguished England career while continuing to pursue domestic and franchise cricket opportunities.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The House Ethics Committee recommended Monday that Rep. Chuck Edwards, R-N.C., be censured after finding that he engaged in persistent unprofessional and inappropriate conduct toward two young female aides in his congressional office.
A censure registers the House's deep disapproval of a lawmaker's conduct that does not meet the threshold for expulsion.
Edwards, 65, has denied that any of his conduct was intended as a ******* ual or romantic advance, but the committee said his behavior would "lead a reasonable observer to interpret it as such." It also described his actions as "beyond inappropriate."
The panel highlighted numerous examples of actions it considered improper, including Edwards providing the young women with lavish and recurrent gifts, making comments regarding their appearance and dress, inviting them to intimate dinners and vacations, and sending notes regarding his affection.
The Ethics panel found no evidence Edwards explicitly propositioned any person under his employ or engaged in any ******* ual activity with them. But it also said he failed to adhere to "the spirit of rules prohibiting ******* ual harassment of and unwanted advances to House staffers."

With five months left, 2026 has shaped up as another banner year for the stock market. The iconic Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJINDICES: ^DJI), broad-based S&P 500 (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC), and innovation-driven Nasdaq Composite (NASDAQINDEX: ^IXIC) have rallied 10%, 9%, and 7%, respectively, since the beginning of the year.
Above-average annualized returns are nothing new with President Donald Trump in the White House. While the stock market advances under most presidents, the annualized returns of Wall Street's major stock indexes under Trump have outpaced most other presidents since the late 1890s. But this trend may not last much longer if the Federal Reserve raises interest rates.

Although the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) -- the 12-person body, including Fed Chair Kevin Warsh, responsible for setting the nation's monetary policy -- acts independently within the U.S. government, this hasn't stopped President Trump from critiquing his new Fed chair and/or the FOMC about their decisions on interest rates.
Shortly after Trump was inaugurated for his second, non-consecutive term on Jan. 20, 2025, he began publicly feuding with then-Fed Chair Jerome Powell (whom he appointed during his first term). Although the Powell-led FOMC lowered the federal funds target rate on six occasions from September 2024 to December 2025, to its current range of 3.5% to 3.75%, the president has opined that interest rates should be reduced to 1% or lower.

The Columbia-based team completed a 3-0 run through the state tournament, according to a community announcement. Daniel Boone allowed only one run across three games and outscored opponents 30-1 on its way to the ***** le.
The state championship sends Daniel Boone to Whitestown, Indiana, for the Midwest Region Tournament, scheduled for Aug. 7-14. The regional winner advances to the Little League Baseball World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

Apple is due to report earnings Thursday afternoon, with options pricing suggesting traders see its stock swinging up to about 4% by the end of the week.
Thursday's report will be Apple's last with Tim Cook as CEO, with John Ternus set to take over the top job in September.
Apple is set to report earnings after the closing bell Thursday, with traders expecting the iPhone maker's stock could extend its record-setting rally following the results.
Based on current options pricing, Apple (AAPL) shares are seen swinging up to about 4% in either direction by the end of the week. A move of that size from Tuesday's close could send the stock up to a new record above $352, or back below $328, giving up some of its recent gains.
After overtaking Nvidia (NVDA) as the world's most valuable company and watching its market capitalization briefly cross the $5 trillion threshold, Apple saw its shares finish Tuesday's session 1% higher at a closing record of $340. The iPhone maker's stock has added one-quarter of its value this year amid optimism around strong iPhone sales and anticipated advances under new CEO John Ternus, who's set to take the helm from Tim Cook in September.

As a tractor driver cultivated a California grape vineyard in June 1978, he made a bleak discovery: a shallow grave.
The human remains unearthed in Arvin, a small farming city southeast of Bakersfield, California, remained unidentified for nearly 50 years. Now, thanks to advances in DNA technology, authorities have identified the victim as Michelle Louise Collier, 15, of Fresno, California, according to the Kern County Sheriff's Office.
"(Michelle) disappeared 48 years ago, and it was only recently that we knew where she was," Collier's older sister, Cynthia Dunbar, said during a July 28 news conference. "At least with this information, my family has some closure."
Kern County Sheriff's Office Detective Ashley Thompson called the identification "a significant milestone" but investigators are still seeking answers about how Collier died.
"Identifying Michelle is an important step, but the circumstances surrounding her death remain unknown," Thompson said at the news conference.

The Denver Broncos open training camp this week with high expectations.
Veterans report on July 28 after a successful 2025 season that saw them win the AFC West and earn the No. 1 seed in the conference. Most of the core roster returns under head coach Sean Payton, and the team should feel confident about repeating as division champions.
Yet several key jobs and depth chart spots remain undecided. Numerous position battles will play a major role in shaping the 2026 roster, and they could also determine how far this talented group advances in the playoffs.
The biggest hole sits on the defensive line.
Most importantly, John Franklin-Myers left in free agency. He delivered strong interior pressure and helped the Broncos lead the league in quarterback hits last season. His departure creates a sizable gap in the rotation. The unit must maintain its disruptive force against both the run and the pass.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 659 points, or 1.3%, on Tuesday as strong earnings from Coca-Cola and Sherwin-Williams lifted blue-chip stocks while falling oil prices added support. The S&P 500 rose 0.3%, and the Nasdaq Composite finished little changed.
Sherwin-Williams stock surged 8% to pace the Dow after the paint maker topped second-quarter estimates. Coca-Cola stock climbed 5% after the beverage giant beat on both revenue and earnings and lifted its full-year guidance. Salesforce stock also gained 5%.
A broad rotation out of technology and into other sectors drove much of the day's action. The Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund hit its lowest level since May 7, while the State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF and Financials ETF surged to record highs. Consumer-staples stocks led the S&P 500 with a 2.7% gain.
The VanEck Semiconductor ETF dropped more than 3%, marking a fourth straight session of losses for chip stocks. Micron shares declined roughly 8% and AMD shed 7%. A drop of nearly 6% in the PHLX semiconductor index pushed the Nasdaq-100 into correction territory at its session low, though the index recovered to close above that threshold, according to the Wall Street Journal. Software names provided a partial cushion, as Microsoft advanced nearly 2% and the iShares Expanded Tech-Software ETF added close to 2%.
Mounting anxiety over AI spending levels and China's accelerating advances in the sector have pressured chip stocks, according to the Journal. The weakness extended across the Pacific, where South Korea's Kospi finished down 10% and ****** an's Nikkei lost 4%.

Rep. Jeff Crank (R-Colo.) on Wednesday introduced a resolution requiring House lawmakers to disclose relationships with staffers of other offices or committees to the lower chamber's Committee on Ethics.
Crank's resolution proposes upholding the existing ban on lawmakers from dating their staffers or staffers of a committee they serve on. It also proposes mandating lawmakers confidentially disclose relationships with staffers in other offices or committees to the Ethics panel.
If the circumstances of the relationship changes, members must then give "prompt notification" to the committee.
Under the House Code of Official Conduct, members cannot engage in a "sexual relationship" with their staffers or staffers of committees they work on, with an exception for marriage.
While lawmakers cannot engage in "unwelcome ***** ual advances or conduct" to House employees, the code of conduct does not explicitly bar relationships between members and staffers of other offices and committees.

The Bank of England is planning to loosen capital requirements for major UK lenders to inject additional liquidity, help banks sustain lending, and support financial markets during periods of stress, while bringing UK requirements more closely into line with international standards. These proposals come as regulators face growing pressure to do more to stimulate economic growth. However, the move also raises concerns about credit quality and financial stability, as relaxed requirements could encourage banks to lend to weaker borrowers and contribute to higher leverage and risk-taking in financial markets.
Capital requirements determine how much capital banks must hold against their **** ets to absorb potential losses and maintain resilience during periods of stress. Easing these requirements allows banks to deploy more capital towards lending, supporting credit availability and market functioning when financial conditions deteriorate. The proposal also follows a relaxation of US leverage requirements in November 2025, increasing competitive pressure on British lenders operating in global markets.
UK economic growth has remained subdued amid geopolitical uncertainty, which has pushed up commodity prices, added to inflationary pressures, and weakened consumer confidence. By improving banks' capacity to lend, the Bank of England aims to support economic activity and help restore confidence among households and businesses.
At the same time, the proposals heighten concerns about financial stability and market risk. Easier credit conditions could increase lending to highly leveraged investors, including hedge funds that use significant borrowing to purchase equities. A substantial share of this debt-fuelled activity has been concentrated in AI-related stocks, despite uncertainty over whether many AI investments will generate the expected returns. If AI projects fail to deliver, firms may struggle to service their debts, potentially increasing banks' non-performing **** ets and weakening overall credit quality.
The Financial Policy Committee has also flagged risks arising directly from rapid advances in frontier AI, which have progressed faster than many experts expected. While these systems could improve productivity, they may also materially increase cyber and operational risks by enabling malicious actors to cause disruption at lower cost and greater scale. Such shocks could affect banks and other systemically important financial institutions, with broader implications for the resilience of the financial system.

USA Rare Earth has named Serra Verde CEO Thras Moraitis as its next chief executive officer, signaling a leadership shift as the company moves toward completing its planned merger with the Brazilian rare earth producer and focuses on operational execution.
Moraitis will ******* ume the CEO role on October 1, succeeding Barbara Humpton, who will retire as chief executive and board director after leading the company's transformation into an integrated rare earths platform. Until then, Moraitis will serve as president of the combined company following the anticipated completion of the Serra Verde transaction by the end of August.
The company also appointed current board chairman Michael Blitzer as executive chairman, effective immediately.
The leadership change comes as USA Rare Earth advances its strategy to build a Western "mine-to-magnet" supply chain spanning mining, processing, metal production and permanent magnet manufacturing. The proposed acquisition of Serra Verde, announced earlier this year, is expected to give the company control of one of the few large-scale producers of key magnetic rare earth elements outside Asia, strengthening efforts to diversify global supply chains away from China.
Humpton, who joined the company in 2025, oversaw major strategic milestones, including public-private partnerships and expansion across critical minerals processing, metals and magnet manufacturing. She said the approaching completion of the Serra Verde deal makes this an appropriate time to hand over leadership as the company's priorities shift from building its platform to executing its growth plans.

NEW YORK (AP) — It's an idea whose time, as it were, may have come — again.
The twice-yearly changing of the clocks in the United States could be a thing of the past if legislation currently in Congress that calls for permanent daylight time makes it through. But even as annoying as some find the back-and-forth of the time shift in the spring and the fall, that doesn't necessarily mean sticking to one would go over well. America has tried it before, most recently in the 1970s, and it didn't last.
Now it's a new era, one full of people working at home who didn't before — and advances in sleep science that tell a more nuanced tale.
Could this time (shift) be the charm?
The House of Representatives on Tuesday voted overwhelmingly to pass a bill that makes the shift to daylight saving time, when clocks are moved forward one hour, become permanent.
