The podcast star-turned-Texan said he does not want The Lone Star state to be controlled by Democrats on the Tuesday episode of his show.

There are no more perfect bedfellows on planet earth than FIFA and private equity. So while this story will send a shiver down your spine, it's not in the least bit shocking.
After an incredibly successful North American World Cup that saw record ratings and revenue, the money-hungry governing body of world soccer is on the hunt for more. This year's World Cup was a fever dream when it came to the control that FIFA had in squeezing out every possible ounce of revenue. There was controversy over insanely high ticket prices, blacking out of stadium names that weren't FIFA sponsors, and, of course, the institution of hydration breaks that were an excuse to break up the game into a four-quarter affair filled with even more commercial advertising.
But after all the drama and controversy, the tournament itself was a remarkable celebration of the best of sport thanks to the athletes and fans that came to the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Spain's victory and the incredible superstar performances made it a truly generational event that will be remembered fondly as one of the best international sporting events in years.
And now FIFA is looking to cash in even more.
According to a report in the Times in the UK, FIFA is now exploring what would seem to rational minds to be an unthinkable betrayal of the beautiful game, putting the World Cup itself up for sale.

President Trump's campaign for lower interest rates in the U.S. faces another setback this week at the meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC). Wall Street ***** ysts have generally come to the conclusion that the FOMC will hold rates steady, if not hike them—and Trump's own foreign policy is an underlying factor.

The FOMC, led by central bank chairman Kevin Warsh, will meet Tuesday and Wednesday of this week to discuss progress toward its targets of maximum employment and inflation at 2%.

It is the latter task that has caused the Fed some difficulty over the past few years. At the time of writing, inflation stands at 3.5%—a drop from May to June, but still elevated compared with the start of the year and the Fed's target.
Part of that reading has come from higher fuel prices, up 15.7% from a year ago. While pressure in this category is beginning to fade (down 4.9% May to June), prices remain elevated as a result of conflict in the Middle East, choking global oil supply as a result.
There is little sign of a resolution between Washington and Tehran in sight. While the two sides are not currently engaged in active military conflict, as they have been over the past fortnight, no official ceasefire has been announced. While the fragile pause of fire allows ***** e for diplomacy to proceed, neither side has indicated they will capitulate over control of the Strait of Hormuz—the key shipping lane in the movement of oil around the planet.
Trump's foreign policy is therefore standing in the way of Warsh's path to a cut—Wall Street ***** ysts highlighted at the start of the week.
Bank of America's base case is for a hold this month, wrote chief U.S. economist Aditya Bhave and his team: "With markets now pricing nearly 10 [basis points] of hikes in July, Chair Warsh faces a difficult choice. Not hiking could challenge the Fed's credibility on inflation. But raising rates would go against his framework of looking through supply shocks.

(NewsNation) — Astronomers may have discovered the first moon outside of our solar system, and it may force them to reconsider the idea of what a "moon" is.
A new study published in Nature describes the discovery of a possible exomoon, but things get a little weird. Researchers noted the object could be an exomoon or it could be something else entirely that doesn't fall neatly into the category of moon or planet.
While Earth's singular moon is the most familiar, there are 891 moons orbiting planets and dwarf planets in our solar system, with more than 200 of those belonging to Saturn alone.

The Miami Heat's recent surge in their chances to land LeBron James apparently didn't come from an all-out pitch from the team's star offseason acquisition, Giannis Antetokounmpo. However, while speaking recently about James and his free agency decision, Giannis's comments may have done much of the heavy lifting and actually been a pitch in itself.
During an interview with Mike Cugno of CBS Miami, Antetokounmpo was asked about what his free agency pitch to James would be. This is where The Greek Freak's interesting response, which began by admitting he doesn't think he'll "pitch anything to him," was not only an excellent response, but also high praise and a nice pitch without actually technically being one.
"I don't think I'll pitch anything to him," Antetokounmpo said. "I feel like in his career, he's always made good decisions. That's what history has shown. Everywhere he's been, he's won. If he believes the Miami Heat organization is a good decision for him and his family, he should make that decision. But he's one of the greatest players to play this game, if not the greatest. I don't think there's a team on the planet that would not want him to be there."

Even elite NFL players, starters and award-winners at their positions- and therefore among the premier athletes on the planet- get starstruck, just like the rest of us. Sometimes it's by guys who do the exact same job.
A perfect example played out this week at the OL Masterminds Summit held in Frisco and hosted by offensive line guru Duke Manyweather. The annual event, now in its ninth year, brings together the game's current top offensive linemen and adds some of the best to ever do it for an intensive, hands-on clinic meant to raise the level of play across the board for guards, tackles, and centers of every team.
And everyone in attendance, it seemed, had someone else they were hoping to meet. Cowboys right tackle Terence Steele, for example, explained that he was looking forward to spending some time with the Eagles' Lane Johnson.
For Quinn Meinerz, it was Cowboys legend Zack Martin.
Meinerz, of course, isn't just some random fanboy. The sixth-year Broncos guard is himself a two-time first-team All-Pro, one of the 10 highest-earning guards in the league, and was a finalist for the NFL Protector of the Year award last season.

The bottom 50% of households in the U.S. own only $4.27 trillion of the nation's $174 trillion in available wealth. By contrast, the top 0.1% own $25.07 trillion, and the top 99 to 99.9% own a little under $30 trillion, according to Federal Reserve data.

With AI now supercharging the stock market, and richer families already owning the majority of those ***** ets, that divide is only likely to widen.

Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase, is well aware of this phenomenon. In fact, the man worth more than $3 billion according to Forbes says he understands why people are "anti-rich." Speaking to Axios, Dimon said the "anti-rich thing has been around for a long time."
In his role as CEO of the largest bank in the U.S., Dimon rubs shoulders with some of the wealthiest people on the planet. But he also works for the bank's customers who have more standard levels of income.
The resurgence in popular resentment of inequality has happened because "we have, in fact, left the lower-income folks behind," Dimon said. The Wall Street veteran, who has the ear of everyone from world leaders to central bankers to the markets, said he often reminds well-off people that they don't have to worry about the schools their children attend, and they don't live in "crime-ridden neighborhoods."
"If you are making less income and you're in a poor rural area, or an inner city area, your schools aren't good, you go to crime-ridden neighborhoods, [there is] more divorce, less jobs–it is becoming intergenerational, so let's acknowledge it and fix it," Dimon said.
Dimon contextualized the frustration of lower-income families, noting that, compared with the 1960s and 1970s, standards of living have improved across the board. In fact, a Fed study released last year found that the share of people who said they were financially "doing okay" or "living comfortably" rose from 62% to 73% in the U.S.

Everyone thought France would crush Spain. They were counting on Kylian Mbappe and that flashy attack to blow the doors off. Wrong. The reality on the pitch was a total shocker. Spain controlled the game from the first whistle to the last. Their strategy worked perfectly against a team full of famous names. And here’s the kicker: They didn’t even break a sweat doing it.
France hoped their stars would do the damage if Mbappe didn’t score. They looked to Ousmane Dembele, Michael Olise, and Bradley Barcola for goals. Desire Doue also played, but the French attack failed completely. Not great. They couldn’t find any way to break through the Spanish defense. It was a wall, plain and simple.
Patrick Vieira, a former World Cup winner for France, admitted the truth. He told ITV that Spain dominated the game in every single aspect. Spain circulated the ball with their usual composure throughout the match. They moved France around and opened gaps to exploit them easily. Classic misdirection. Vieira knows a thing or two about winning big.

The incoming depth at the middle weights was on full display with all three All-Americans projected from 149 through 165 pounds in college.
One of the standouts of the whole tournament, Davis Parrow started strong and finished when he needed it to win a Junior Fargo National Championship. Parrow went 7-0 over the weekend with five wins coming via technical superiority — he outscored his opponents 67-12 along the way.
Parrow started his tournament with a pair of wins via tech on Day 1 — 10-0 and 11-0. He spent a total of just 2 minutes, 17 seconds on the mat on Friday.

I know we live in a fragile day and age where running with the first sign of a conspiracy might be the easiest (read: laziest) thing to do, but we've really got to get a grip on how we're talking about Argentina in the men's World Cup.
Yes, this is the final international tournament in the legendary career of Lionel Messi, the greatest player in the history of soccer. Yes, reigning World Cup champion Argentina, Messi included or not, is a wildly popular team considered a traditional men's World Cup power. Yes, FIFA is a notoriously shady sporting organization (perhaps even the shadiest) that already has what sure looks like a massive scandal involving the United States men's national team at this same tournament. And yes, an underdog team like Egypt happened to get screwed by a broken Soccer Computer (a.k.a. Video ******* istant Referee) in a Round of 16 match against Argentina.
But, and stick with me here, that doesn't mean FIFA is "rigging" the biggest sports tournament in the history of human civilization, just so the best player can ride off into the sunset with the first men's World Cup ******* le repeat in six decades. That's such a huge leap to make. Yet, with Messi and Argentina waltzing into the World Cup semifinals of this coming week, that "rigged" conspiracy theory seems to be the prevailing sentiment in some of the darkest corners of the internet. So much so that Breel Embolo's egregious flopping for Switzerland is somehow a point of contention.
For anyone who actually believes FIFA is manipulating this World Cup for Argentina and Messi with an "invisible hand," uh, pardon my French: Do you know how utterly stupid you sound? How irrational? It boggles the mind.
Do you know how difficult something like this would be to execute on a logistical basis, even beyond the parameters of the five-week tournament? Do you understand the sheer financial and ideological commitment it would take from every person who is even tangentially ******* ociated with the FIFA organization, from the people in suits to the referees on the field, to execute such a Herculean task without getting caught? Rest ******* ured, every soccer reporter on the planet would already be all over this story.

We might have to start calling them the cardiac kids!
After a big, ninth-inning comeback to beat the Nationals last night, we got a sequel on Saturday afternoon. Starter Cam Schlittler didn’t pitch well while managing an extraordinary start, and seven-plus innings of maddening offense gave way to a trio of eighth-inning home runs. The Yankees have a win streak going, taking today’s game 4-2 over the Nationals.
Cam Schlittler is making me think about Roy Halladay a lot. I’ve told this story before here, but Halladay was the standard of baseball excellence in my home growing up, my dad would hand ten year old me a pocket Blue Jay schedule and have me mark off the home games that Doc was most likely to be starting, and those games became the priority options for family trips to Toronto. The day Roy was traded was a small celebration in our house, because he sure as ******* wasn’t getting anything out of the late-2000s Blue Jays. At least the Phillies gave him a real shot.
But the thing that always stuck out to me about Halladay, specifically his time in Toronto where he was the best or second best pitcher in the AL depending on what Johan Santana had done lately, was he didn’t often dominate lineups the way his counterpart in Minnesota would. Halladay ground you down, taking advantage of his formidable conditioning and his manager’s reluctance to go to anyone in the bullpen to throw 130 cutters and sinkers and shatter your bat and watch you jog 75 feet to your right on a basic groundout to second, and he would do that for eight innings every five days.
Indeed even on days where Halladay wasn’t the best pitcher available, he seemed better than anyone at finding some way to make it work. When he was losing, and boy he was losing a lot with those teams, it seemed there was ******* ody on the planet more dead-set at not being the reason why we lose today.
