Mexico's government is slashing financial ******* istance for the state energy major by as much as 70% despite Pemex's continued struggle to pay down debt and boost production. The decision rests on expectations that the company will benefit from the oil and gas price rally spurred by the U.S. and Israeli war against Iran.
Per a Bloomberg report from this week, the government of Mexico sees Pemex posting a rare cash surplus of some 95 billion pesos, or around $5.63 billion, as a result of the oil price rally. Based on those expectations, the Scheinbaum government stipulated financial help of just 81 billion pesos for the company in next year's budget, equivalent to some $4.8 billion. This was down by 70% from this year.
"We said that by 2027, support for Pemex would be very limited, and that's indeed the case," President Sheinbaum told media this week. "Pemex now receives very little support from the Mexican government, and its own finances will sustain its development."
Mexico's energy major is the most indebted company in the world, with a load of some $105 billion as of mid-2025, of which some $20 billion is in unpaid bills to suppliers. Since then, the company has managed to reduce the debt pile to some $79 billion as of the end of the first quarter of this year. The company said in a news release at the time that this was the lowest its debt has been since 2014.
Meanwhile, however, boosting refining output has turned out to be a challenge, and issues with crude quality—including high water content—have alienated key buyers over the past couple of years. The previous administration of Mexico focused on supporting the company by turning it back into a monopoly on the Mexican energy market. The Scheinbaum government, on the other hand, moved to open up the Mexican oil industry to other players as well, launching a new contract framework for joint ventures, the so-called mixed contracts. In mixed development allocations, Pemex can enter into an agreement with one or more private firms.

Walmart Inc. (NASDAQ:WMT) and The Home Depot, Inc. (NYSE:HD) are both booking real tariff refund windfalls, but reporting and using the money in noticeably different ways, CNBC reported.
Walmart CFO John David Rainey said the company is eligible for roughly $2.9 billion in refunds, has yet to receive just under $100 million of that, and saw Walmart U.S. gross profit grow 1.6% from the boost; Rainey said Walmart plans to use the funds to lower prices for consumers, with the impact showing up in the current fiscal third quarter.
Home Depot said it received $730 million in tariff refunds during its fiscal second quarter, using about $685 million to reduce the cost of goods sold, lifting gross margin by 0.3 percentage points. CFO Richard McPhail called that "the vast majority" of what the company expected. Lowe's Companies, Inc. (NYSE:LOW), by contrast, said it would not use its refund to cut prices, with CEO Marvin Ellison saying the company wants to "deliver strong profitability for our shareholders" instead.
Walmart Inc. (NASDAQ:WMT) can turn its tariff refund into both lower prices and solid sales. The firm expects roughly $2.9 billion in tariff refunds and has already used part of the benefit to lower prices on about 11,000 products. Walmart can attract price-sensitive shoppers and increase traffic. It can also strengthen its market share if those lower prices generate more purchases.
The Home Depot, Inc. (NYSE:HD) has taken a consumer-focused approach to its tariff refund while still protecting its margins. The company expects to receive roughly $730 million in tariff refunds and plans to apply about $685 million toward its cost of goods. That approach gives Home Depot room to pass savings to customers while retaining a financial benefit, potentially helping it compete more aggressively for home-improvement spending.

USA Rare Earth (NASDAQ: USAR) is quickly becoming one of America's most strategically important mining companies, at least if the economy, technology, and national security count for anything.
Why all the attention? Two words: rare earths. Indeed, rare-earth metals, as their name suggests, are a class of elements that are tough to find in economically useful deposits. They are essential to everything from smartphones and electric vehicles (EVs) to fighter jets and guided missiles, and China controls most of the world's capacity to process them.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
USA Rare Earth is one of only a handful of American companies that control a rare-earth deposit on American soil. Its goal is to extract rare-earth elements from a deposit in Texas, process and separate them domestically, and turn them into permanent magnets for American companies out of its factory in Oklahoma.
For some time, this has been at the heart of USA Rare Earth's growth thesis; none of it is new. What is new, however, is its pending acquisition of Serra Verde, which could turn USA Rare Earth from a would-be miner with an uncertain start date into the owner of an operating rare-earth mine. That deal will likely close before its next earnings report -- expected in early November -- and could set the stage for a huge rally.

Palo Alto Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:PANW) delivered strong fiscal fourth-quarter 2026 results, but the stock's reaction shows that investors are demanding more than an earnings beat from one of the market's biggest cybersecurity winners. During the September 1 episode of Mad Money, Jim Cramer said:
The cybersecurity stocks have been climbing steadily higher for months now, ever since Wall Street figured out that this industry wouldn't be made obsolete by artificial intelligence. Take Palo Alto Networks, a long-time holding of my Charitable Trust. Here's a stock that's more than doubled from its April lows to its highs a few weeks ago. That's why it's been pulling back lately. It was going into earnings. When Palo Alto reported after the close, they delivered a much better-than-expected result on almost every key line. Plus, their guidance for the current quarter and the full year were both very strong.
Palo Alto Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:PANW) reported fiscal fourth-quarter revenue of $3.41 billion, up 34% year over year and above the $3.35 billion ******* yst estimate. Adjusted earnings were $1.02 per share, versus $0.98 expected. Next-Generation Security ARR rose 63% to $9.10 billion, while remaining performance obligations increased 34% to $21.2 billion. Management expects fiscal 2027 revenue of $14.10 billion to $14.20 billion, representing 23% to 24% growth, with adjusted earnings of $4.16 to $4.19 per share. NGS ARR is expected to reach $11.075 billion to $11.175 billion, implying 22% to 23% growth.
CEO Nikesh Arora said that the company added nearly $1 billion of net new NGS ARR in the fourth quarter and said AI adoption is elevating cybersecurity on CIO priority lists. The company is targeting $20 billion of NGS ARR by fiscal 2030.
The main concern is the gap between Palo Alto Networks, Inc.'s (NASDAQ:PANW) reported growth rate and what management expects going forward. NGS ARR growth of 22% to 23% in fiscal 2027 would represent a substantial slowdown from the 63% reported in the fourth quarter. It is important to note that the 63% growth figure is affected by contributions from CyberArk and Chronosphere, making organic growth and execution across Palo Alto's core platforms a more important measure to watch going forward. Shares fell around 9.3% on September 2 despite the quarterly earnings beat and fiscal 2027 revenue outlook.

Citi's Tyler Radke opened a positive catalyst watch on ORCL, calling its 36% year-over-year selloff a 4 to 5 standard deviation move.
Oracle's $20 billion ATM equity program caps every rally with latent supply while the company burns negative $24 billion in free cash flow.

Social Security's 2034 trust fund depletion could slash monthly payments to 78%, making early claiming at 62 a compelling strategy for 1964-born Boomers.
$ARCC yields nearly 10% and $MO has raised dividends 57 consecutive years, both carrying Buy ratings from top Wall Street ****** ysts.
Reinvesting dividends from these 6%+ yielding stocks can more than offset the 30% reduction early Social Security claimants accept versus waiting until 67.

Numerous studies indicate that the Social Security Old-Age and Survivors Insurance (OASI) trust fund is projected to run out of reserves in late 2032; while the program is not expected to go bankrupt or disappear, current taxpayers will still fund a large portion of the payments. Some project that payments could fall to 78% of a recipient's current payment. That means every $1,000 in payments could be cut to $780 if Congress does not intervene. The Social Security Administration says that if combined with the Disability Insurance trust fund, the depletion date is extended to 2034, when 83% of benefits would remain payable. The bottom line is that Congress will likely wait until the bitter end to fix things, as it has in the past.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) proposed its first permanent digital-asset rule to govern the crypto industry on Aug. 18, and the next day, President Donald Trump held the chief executives of the industry's biggest companies, specifically Coinbase Global, Ripple -- with its XRP (CRYPTO: XRP) -- and Robinhood Markets, at the White House for a summit. That gathering came on the heels of the Senate leaving town on Aug. 8 without voting on the Clarity Act, which many had **** umed would lead to the bill's chances of passage in 2026 becoming very slim.
In some sense, the summit might even have been a response to the sluggishness of Congress. White House crypto advisor Patrick Witt claimed that regulators in the executive agencies -- specifically the SEC and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) -- will "break glass" (i.e., use emergency mechanisms) if Congress didn't deliver on the Clarity Act. That could be imminent, so let's break down what's happening with crypto regulation outside of what's being debated in the Capitol.

The question is, Can Bloom keep outperforming? I think it can, although future gains will likely be harder won.
First, the bull case. That starts, undoubtedly, with Bloom's extraordinary growth. Second-quarter revenue soared over the $1 billion mark for the first time in company history. Demand for Bloom's energy servers is so high that management raised its full-year outlook to between $3.9 billion and $4.2 billion, which would represent 100% revenue growth at the midpoint.
There are plenty of reasons to ******* ume the momentum will continue. Artificial intelligence data centers need gargantuan amounts of electricity, and few companies can match Bloom's speedy ability to deploy on-site power. Indeed, Bloom's 90-day timeline just got better: Its now "Power Connect" deployment reduces installation time by 40%.

Amazon plans to dramatically expand its Prime Air drone delivery service, saying it expects to reach nearly 500 U.S. cities and towns by the end of 2026 as retailers race to make airborne deliveries a larger part of everyday shopping.
The expansion would increase Prime Air's footprint sixfold, giving tens of millions more customers access to drone deliveries. Amazon said eligible shoppers can order millions of products, including groceries, electronics, medications and household essentials, with deliveries arriving in as fast as 30 minutes.
The announcement comes as the drone delivery industry appears poised for rapid growth. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has proposed rules that would make it easier for certified operators to fly drones beyond a pilot's visual line of sight, a change companies say could significantly reduce costs and allow services to expand more quickly, according to Reuters.
Here's what to know about Amazon's Prime Air expansion, including where drone delivery is available and where it's headed next.
Prime Air currently operates from 11 delivery sites serving metro areas including Phoenix; Tampa, Florida; Kansas City, Kansas; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Detroit; Omaha, Nebraska; Houston; Dallas; San Antonio; and Waco, Texas.

In the latest Bitcoin news, Gelephu Mindfulness City, Bhutan's southern special administrative region, has named Toronto-based 3iQ Corp. as the first institutional manager for a portion of its Bitcoin treasury, formalizing what had been a state-level BTC accumulation strategy into an active, named-mandate arrangement.
The announcement, dated July 30, 2026, marks the first concrete step toward deployment since Bhutan announced in December 2025 that up to 10,000 Bitcoin from its national holdings would be allocated to support GMC's long-term development.
The mandate grants 3iQ discretionary management over a defined portion of GMC's Bitcoin reserves, though the press release does not disclose the specific amount of BTC, the custody arrangement, permitted strategies, or the fee structure.
That opacity is notable for a sovereign-linked reserve mandate; operational details that traders would typically expect to accompany an institutional announcement of this scale remain absent.

Taco Bell has consistently been one of the best-performing QSRs in the industry over the past several years. A U.S. public health crisis quickly interrupted that momentum.
The chain's same-store sales declined 2 percent quarter-to-date through July 27 after a cyclospora outbreak sickened thousands across several states. The sharpest impact came over the weekend of July 18, according to Yum! Brands.
The outbreak was linked to iceberg lettuce, some of which was served at certain Taco Bell restaurants. In response, the company swiftly removed the affected lettuce.
The downturn followed a second quarter in which Taco Bell's same-store sales rose 7 percent. The chain outperformed the quick-service restaurant industry for the ninth consecutive quarter and expanded its digital sales mix by 5 percentage points to 47 percent.

SoFi Technologies (SOFI) investors have an important date circled on their calendars, July 29, when the fintech company is scheduled to report its second-quarter 2026 earnings before the market opens. With the stock under pressure in recent weeks despite strong underlying business momentum, the upcoming report could serve as a major catalyst for the shares.
Investors will be watching not only whether SoFi extends its streak of revenue and earnings growth. But also they want to know whether management raises its full-year outlook, provides encouraging guidance on member growth and loan originations, and demonstrates continued progress in expanding its higher-margin financial services and technology platform businesses. The results could determine whether SoFi's recent pullback represents a buying opportunity or a sign of slowing momentum.

A housing market crash happens when home values plummet due to a lack of demand for or an oversupply of homes. The factors leading to a housing market crash are varied, ranging from economic recessions to high mortgage rates that make it less affordable to buy a home. A housing crash can have upsides (low home prices) and downsides (losing built-up equity and tighter finances).

So, what's ahead for the housing market in 2026?
➡ Read more: Want to buy a house in 2026? Here's what you need to know.
Generally, experts don't foresee a housing market crash in 2026. If anything, they see a greater sense of normalcy following multiple years of twists and turns.
"We're not heading toward a housing crash; we're in a market correction defined by stability, not volatility," Hoby Hanna, CEO of Howard Hanna Real Estate Services, said via email. "Today's housing environment is fundamentally different from 2008. Homeowners have record levels of equity, lending standards are sound, and inventory remains constrained. What we're seeing now is a normalization, not a collapse, as the market adjusts to new economic realities. For buyers and sellers, this is a market filled with opportunity and resilience, not instability or uncertainty."

Although first-quarter revenue fell 1% year over year to $13.1 billion, or 5% at constant currencies, the results largely matched management's expectations as several blockbuster medicines lost patent protection in the United States.
Chief Executive Vas Narasimhan described the period as "the biggest loss of exclusivity in Novartis' history, emphasizing that the weakness reflected temporary patent expirations rather than deteriorating demand across the company's portfolio.
Core operating income declined 14% on a constant-currency basis, while core EPS fell 15% to $1.99. The decline reflected lower sales as well as continued investment in research and development. Despite this pressure, Novartis maintained healthy profitability with a 37.3% core operating margin, while free cash flow remained broadly stable at $3.3 billion. That suggests the company continues to generate substantial cash even during a challenging earnings period.
The brighter picture came from Novartis' growth portfolio, where nearly every strategic medicine continued to post double-digit expansion.
Kisqali remained the standout performer, with sales jumping 55% as adoption broadened in breast cancer. Pluvicto climbed 70%, reflecting growing demand for radioligand therapies, while Kesimpta increased 26% as multiple sclerosis patients continued switching to newer treatments.
