SEC Freshman of the Year Anthony Pack Jr. is the returning outfield starter for Texas after a second straight season in which the Longhorns struggled to field three quality contributors. For a second straight year, Jonah Williams also dealt with injury issues, playing in eight games before undergoing season-ending shoulder injury.
Losing Williams, combined with the 2025 MLB Draft defections of transfers Jack Moroknek and Kaleb Freeman, contributed to 94 at bats for Jayden Duplantier, 15 starts for late addition Dariyan Pendergrass, who committed to Texas in December, and 14 starts for Maddox Monsour. In 96 combined at bats, Pendergrass and Monsour totaled three extra-base hits while both hitting under .200.

Brennan was disappointed to bogey his final hole to drop back to 14-under par, but he would have been delighted with his round overall.
Brennan played really well on day three at the Rocket Classic, firing a round of six-under par 64 to trail the leader by just one stroke.
Meanwhile, Fowler produced a really strong finish, making three birdies in his final six holes to end up three strokes off the lead.

Joe Rogan claims there will be little debate in the future that Israel committed a "genocide" in Gaza.
The veteran comic made the claim during the Wednesday episode of his podcast, in which he said the idea of genocide by Israel would become "universally accepted."
Rogan said he can't see how anyone can support Israel's war in Gaza, even when considering it was spurred by the Hamas terror attack in October 2023 where about 1,200 people were slaughtered and hundreds of hostages were taken.
"Like, how could anybody defend that? I don't even know how many people are dead," Rogan said. "You have a complete wipeout of a city — like 90% of Gaza is gone, or whatever the percentage is. You look at the buildings — you look at what it used to look like, [and] you look at what it looks like now — like, this is defensible?"
He got onto the topic after his guest, actor Tim Robbins, complained it was "nuts" ex-wife Susan Sarandon lost her agent and had a hard time finding work because of her criticism of Israel and comments after the 10/7 attack.

No. 1 overall pick AJ Dybantsa has been shut down by the Washington Wizards for the remainder of the NBA Summer League, according to Josh Robbins of The Athletic.
Dybantsa logged two appearances with the Wizards, averaging 25 points, seven rebounds, 2.5 steals, two **** ists and 1.5 blocks while shooting 39.4% from the field. He is tied with teammate Will Riley for the fifth-highest scoring average among all players in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In addition to Dybantsa, Riley and second-year guard Tre Johnson will also sit for the rest of the team's stint in the desert. Wizards summer league coach T.J. Sorrentine told The Athletic that the team has seen enough of the trio in game action and in practice.

Penn State's newest addition to the Class of 2027 is adding a little international flair to the recruiting class. On Tuesday, offensive lineman Oscar Webersink committed to the Penn State program following an official visit over the weekend. Webersink is a native of Sweden, but will be playing high school football in Connecticut for St. Thomas More in Oakdale, Connecticut.
Webersink is rated as a three-star recruit according to his profile on 247Sports. Webersink is rated as the No. 3 overall player out of Connecticut and the 76th offensive lineman in the nation. Measuring 6'-8" and 290 pounds, Webersink is the fifth offensive lineman currently in the fold for Penn State's Class of 2027. Webersink reportedly committed to Penn State over offers from West Virginia, Northwestern, and Florida State. Once Penn State entered the conversation, the Nittany Lions emerged as the favorite in the recruiting battle.
Webersink is a bit of a work in progress, but he has taken to the game quite quickly. Webersink picked up football as an exchange student in 2023, and he continued playing American football when he returned home in a Swedish league. He has since continued to make appearances at various football camps, including one at Penn State. He will likely take some time to develop a bit before he eventually hopes to contribute in the trenches at this level.
Webersink joins a recruiting class that also includes offensive linemen David Tarawallie, Owen Reilly, Ryan Robbins, and Jon Sassic. Each of those players has committed to Penn State following the hiring of Matt Campbell as head coach.
Penn State's national recruiting ranking prior to the commitment of Webersink was No. 20 in the nation according to the most recent update to the 247Sports composite team rankings. Penn State's Class of 2027 ranks seventh among Big Ten programs.

AJ Dybantsa might just be a different breed of top-end talent. After a few games in the NBA Summer League with the help of Anthony Davis and Trae Young, among others, he seems to know what skill sets will define his career in the long run. The first overall pick of the 2026 NBA Draft out of the BYU Cougars system even made a wild proclamation about future individual accolades.
Rookies do not have their 'welcome to the league' moment until their first official game in the 82-game regular season. It is only when that moment comes that they begin to climb and refine their playbooks to thrive in the NBA. AJ Dybantsa did not have to wait that long.
The Wizards rookie has played two games in the NBA Summer League so far, and each outing was a revelation. He looked like a man among boys on both ends of the floor, but the 19-year-old out of the BYU Cougars system posits that he thrives in one area more than the other. Dybantsa even thinks he is well on his way to becoming a member of an NBA First-Team All-Defensive squad, per Josh Robbins of The Athletic.
"I think I can be a first-team All-Defensive team guy. That’s just where I’m trying to make an impact, on the defensive end. In college, I was being really lazy on the defensive end, just letting guys blow by me and not being a help-side defender. But I definitely want to bring it to the next level," Dybantsa declared.

New York defeated Detroit, 86-75, Monday in the NBA Summer League at ******* Pavilion in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Former Tennessee basketball player Chaz Lanier started and played 33 minutes for the Pistons. He scored a game-high 24 points. Lanier also totaled two ******* ists and one steal. He converted 8-of-13 field goal attempts and 8-of-12 three-point attempts.
Ebuka Okorie scored 14 points for the Pistons, while Isaac Jones had 12 points. Jack Kayil led the Knicks with 19 points, while Dillon Jones totaled 18 points and Liam Robbins finished with 15 points.
Lanier was selected in the second round of the 2025 NBA draft by Detroit (No. 37 overall). He played at Tennessee during the 2024-25 season after transferring from North Florida.
During the 2024-25 basketball season, the guard appeared in 38 games, including 38 starts, for the Vols. Lanier averaged 18.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.1 ******* ists per game.

After one year with the Texas Longhorns, Aiden Robbins is heading to the Big Apple. The New York Mets selected the Longhorns outfielder in the third round of the MLB Draft on Saturday night. He was one of the best players in the nation during the 2026 campaign and will soon become one of the Mets' top prospects.
During his junior campaign, Robbins posted a .333 batting average in 60 games. He set career highs in home runs with 24, RBI with 64, and runs with 68. After spending the first two years of his college career with Seton Hall, Robbins made a name for himself in the SEC.
In Robbins, the Mets are getting a player who finished his college career with a .355 batting average in 156 games with Seton Hall and Texas. His excellence did not stop there, as Robbins also hit .328 in the Cape Cod League. Regardless of the level, Robbins has been a hit machine and shown no signs of slowing down.
While Saturday was a day Robbins will never forget, some of his teammates also heard their names called. Carson Tinney was drafted in the second round by the Minnesota Twins, and Ruger Riojas was taken by the Phillies eight picks after Robbins. That trio has a bright future ahead if they can build on their success in Austin.
Heading into the draft, Robbins was projected to be picked No.28 overall by Baseball America. The reason he went later than scouts expected was due to concerns about how his swing would fare against higher velocity and spin rates. If Robbins can avoid striking out in bunches, then he will quickly rise through the Mets system.

Among the things this signing signals: The Washington Wizards will select BYU's AJ Dybantsa with the No. 1 pick in this year's NBA Draft. Washington now has its point guard of the future locked up and isn't going to select Darryn Peterson.
Trae Young has agreed to terms to return to the Washington Wizards on a four-year, $212 million contract, a story broken almost simultaneously by ESPN's Shams Charania and Josh Robbins of The Athletic.
Young, who was traded to the Wizards from the Hawks at the deadline, declined his $48.97 million player option for next season and became an unrestricted free agent. The expectation from many around the league was that Young would take less per year for a longer deal, but he is now set to make more next season ($49.5 million), and his salary only goes up from there. The fourth year of the contract is a player option for $56.9 million.
That $212 million for four years figure is essentially the max any other team could have offered Young (with his Bird rights, Washington could have gone higher). It's unclear whether such a large offer was out there from another team for the 27-year-old four-time All-Star. However, the Wizards front office was convinced that, because of the league's new anti-tanking measures, a larger offer than had been rumored around the league would come his way, reports Robins at The Athletic.
Young struggled last season with injuries and averaged "just" 17.9 points and eight ****** ists a game, shooting 33.8% from 3-point range. The season before that, Young was an All-Star who averaged 24.2 points and 11.6 ****** ists per game, shooting 34% from beyond the arc.

Trae Young intends to sign a four-year deal worth approximately $212 million to stay with the Washington Wizards, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Monday. The deal includes a player option on the fourth year.
This comes after it was reported last week Young would decline the $49 million option on the 2026-27 season from his previous deal with the Wizards, who acquired Young from the Atlanta Hawks in January.
Though Young could have received max interest on the open market, his return to Washington was expected after they took a swing on him while his value was lowest. He rewarded their interest and intention to build around him by accepting a deal for less than the max Washington could have offered.
Washington believed Young was going to command max-salary offers from other teams, according to The Athletic's Josh Robbins. So, they gave Young the same max salary other teams could have offered. That's a four-year deal with five percent year-over-year raises.
Considering Washington holds Young's Bird rights, meaning they could have offered him a five-year deal with eight percent annual raises, they did save some money on this deal.

D1Baseball reported earlier today that Texas ****** ociate head coach Nolan Cain—the Longhorns' recruiting coordinator—will leave his position at Texas after two seasons.
Cain will join Texas A&M head coach Michael Earley. The two coaches worked together as ****** istants for two seasons during Texas head coach Jim Schlossnagle's tenure with the Aggies, prior to a College Station departure and Schlossnagle's subsequent arrival in Austin.
At Texas, Cain played a role role in landing recruits such as Carson Tinney and Aiden Robbins—two players that played crucial roles throughout Texas' recent College World Series run. As Sports Illustrated reported, "over nine seasons as a recruiting coordinator at LSU, Texas A&M and Texas, Cain has helped secure eight top-10 recruiting classes, including six ranked inside the top five. In his first full recruiting cycle at Texas, he helped the Longhorns land the nation's No. 1 recruiting class according to both Baseball America and Perfect Game."
Cain is also a former four-year letterman at LSU.

On Saturday night, the Texas baseball team opened its super regional against Oregon with an 11-3 victory and moved within one win of the College World Series.
In the eight-run triumph at UFCU Disch-Falk Field, Texas was actually outhit by a 9-8 margin. All-American candidates Aiden Robbins and Carson Tinney combined to go 0-for-7 from the top-two spots in the Texas batting order.

The Longhorns, though, got a big boost from sophomore shortstop Adrian Rodriguez, who went 2-for-3 with five RBIs. Those five RBIs were a career-high total.
"My teammates in front of me getting on base for me to drive them in, that's just team baseball. It's what we do," Rodriguez said. "It's playoff baseball, so it's win or go home so we're doing anything we can to win and put up runs on the board."
