Assistant manager Steve Parkin says he understands Chris Wilder's frustrations over the possibility of losing Callum O'Hare to Wrexham after the Sheffield United boss accused the Welsh side of a "blanket bombing" approach to the transfer window.
Speaking ahead of the Blades' Championship contest with Bolton Wanderers at Bramall Lane on Tuesday night (19:45 BST), United boss Wilder confirmed the Red Dragons had submitted a bid for attacking midfielder O'Hare.
During the press briefing, Wilder also said Wrexham were "in for half the division".
And while accepting Wilder's frustrations, Wrexham ****** istant Parkin was keen to stressed his side's transfer dealings are far more methodical than Wilder suggested.
"I did read that (Wilder's comments). Me and Chris go a long way back and he's no different to any other manager," said Parkin.

There's little debate about who the greatest college football coach of all time is. It's none other than former Michigan State, LSU, and Alabama head coach Nick Saban, but as is often the case, failure to launch came before the rise to glory.
Not many know that Saban was once an ***** istant under former Ohio State head coach, the late, great Earle Bruce, from 1980-81. Saban started his coaching career as a graduate ***** istant for his alma mater, Kent State, in 1973 and was promoted to the linebackers coach in 1975. He also had stops as an ***** istant at Syracuse and West Virginia before Bruce hired him as a defensive backs coach in 1980. Amazingly enough, Saban was hired to replace another famous coach, Pete Carroll, on the Buckeye staff.
However, Saban's time with a scarlet and gray wardrobe was short-lived. He was fired after a 31-28 Ohio State win against Navy in the 1981 Liberty Bowl as part of a housecleaning of some of the defensive staff because of a reported disagreement in philosophy.
While appearing on the Pat McAfee Show, right out of the gate, McAfee -- with former Ohio State linebacker A.J. Hawk sitting in tow -- asked Saban if he was ever fired, and Saban was quick to point out his time in Columbus.
"Yeah, I talked to you about that. I got fired when I was a defensive backs coach at Ohio State," Saban said.

Matt Gulbin may not have fallen immediately asleep Wednesday night.
Gulbin, a rookie out of Michigan State, was drafted by the Commanders in the sixth round, 209th overall, in last April's NFL Draft. Gulbin was selected to bring along and provide depth behind starting center Nick Allegretti.
However, on the very first day of the Commanders' 2026 training camp, Allegretti strained a calf. It was a bad enough strain that Allegretti missed nearly three weeks of training camp practices before returning August 18. Wednesday, Allegretti again had to leave practice early after getting injured.
"I think really, just taking it day-by-day, trying to get better every day," is simply how Gulbin replied to Denton Day when asked Wednesday what he is learning through his first NFL training camp. (I am) taking advantage of everything we do, whether it is practice, walkthroughs or meetings, being in tune and locked in with that."
When asked about the offensive line room, Gulbin quickly responded, "I feel like we have a really good group. Coach Stape, Coach Toub and Coach Stolt do a really good job fostering a good brotherhood. They are down-to-earth, salt-of-the-earth guys. Everybody takes care of each other, which I'm super-grateful for." Gulbin was referring to Darnell Stapleton (Offensive Line Coach), Shane Toub (Assistant Offensive Line Coach) and Brian Stoldt (Offensive Quality Control Coach).

LAS VEGAS — Las Vegas Aces head coach Becky Hammon was ejected from her team's matchup against the Atlanta Dream on Tuesday at Michelob Ultra Arena.
The fifth-year coach appeared to be arguing a no-call after Dream forward Angel Reese missed a midrange jumper with 5:06 remaining in the second quarter. That drew Hammon's first technical as the Dream had a 33-29 lead.
Hammon then exited the sideline and charged towards officials on the court in frustration. She had to be held back by her ***** istant coaches and high-fived players and other team personnel as she headed toward the locker room after receiving her second technical foul in quick succession.
Assistant coach Charlene Thomas-Swinson took over in Hammon's absence.
It's Hammon's first ejection since the Aces lost to the Los Angeles Sparks on June 9, 2024.

In theory, the NFL's new decision to allow ****** istant coaches to also throw challenge flags has sound intent.
Head coaches have so much on their plate as game managers every week that it makes sense to let them delegate critical play reviews to their subordinates. But guess what? If a challenge by an ****** istant coach fails, it's probably not the ****** istant coach who will get ripped apart for the decision to challenge in the postgame. It will, unsurprisingly, probably still be the head coach because everything ultimately comes back to them.
On Sunday, Dan Campbell pointed out this obvious flaw before Lions practice.
When asked if he would ever allow one of his ****** istants to handle challenge duties, Campbell pointedly shut down the very idea. Why? Because, well, if the ****** istant gets the challenge wrong, then the buck would still stop with Campbell. He's not wrong!
I don't imagine that Campbell will be the only NFL head coach who thinks this way about the expanded challenge rules. With great power — meaning a red challenge flag — comes great responsibility, but an ****** istant coach still won't take the same accountability for any potential mistake. You only get so many challenges in a single game, and they often swing the final outcome; the outcome of which the head coach will be evaluated much more.

The Bears scored 24 points and put up 235 yards in the second half of their 34-10 preseason win over the Browns on Saturday. Head coach Ben Johnson revealed after the game that wide receivers coach/assistant head coach Antwaan Randle El called the plays in the second half.
"Has anybody ever had a better first outing than Antwaan Randle El?" quarterback Tyson Bagent said, via Dan Wiederer of TheAthletic.com. "That's just who he is. He's always prepared. He knows the ins and outs of the playbook. So really, it was not surprising — at least for us on the sideline."
Randle El, who turns 47 next week, impressed Johnson and the quarterbacks with the way he handled the call sheet.
"He did a phenomenal job," Johnson said. "He was part of the quarterbacks' meeting [Friday] night, and we were talking about what was on the call sheet and their favorites and all that. I think it was a phenomenal experience for him. I know our guys really rallied around that."
Declan Doyle was the Bears' offensive coordinator last year, but Johnson called the plays. Thus, Johnson allowed Doyle to leave for Baltimore to become the Ravens' offensive coordinator and play-caller this season.

New Kentucky head coach Will Stein will, in just a few weeks, lead the Kentucky Wildcats onto the field for his first game as head coach of the Wildcats.
Meanwhile, the man who led the Wildcats program for the previous 13 seasons will begin the season coaching in a new location. Mark Stoops was hired this offseason as a Special ******* istant to Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian.

The forgotten man in the Cleveland quarterback rotation is forcing himself into the conversation by performing well in practice. But Dillon Gabriel has yet to officially enter the competition to win the starting quarterback job with the Browns.
Does he feel disrespected by that?
"Never disrespected," Gabriel told reporters on Wednesday. "I don't take things personally, it's a business. I'm focused on what I need to do to get better, and that's all I'm focused on. I'm present with that."
Gabriel also was asked whether he believes earning more reps gives him a chance to seize the job.
"I'm really just focused on mastering my reps," Gabriel said. "I really appreciate [pass game coordinator] Danny Bryer and [senior director of player development] James Cook. James Cook and [offensive skill development specialist] Demetric Felton are big on walkthroughs in the morning, which helps set me up for a good day. And afterwards with Danny Bryer, a guy I've really leaned on, getting coached up — three or five reps, talking through it as best I can and improving. And same with [assistant quarterbacks] coach [Matt] Baker, he's been really good for me."

Mariner High School (Cape Coral, Fla.) has fired four football coaches and put two others on administrative leave as it investigates events that occurred during a recent lock-in at the school.
The school sent a letter to parents on Aug. 4 stating that it relieved head coach Tyran Jones and ***** istant coach Kaycie Zorbas of their coaching duties due to a lack of supervision by the staff during the gathering. Four other ***** istant coaches who were not school district employees were fired.
While it's unclear what exactly happened during the team-building event, principal Tom Michel confirmed that no hazing took place. However, students who violated the school's expectations will be held accountable for their actions, as stated in the letter.
"While student privacy laws prevent us from disclosing specific names or consequences, please be ***** ured that no hazing took place and every individual involved is being held fully accountable," the letter read.
The news comes just one week before the Tritons kickoff the 2026-27 season. Mariner fell 3-7 last season under Jones, who spent just one season at the helm. Jones previously coached two seasons at Island Coast.

The status of the marriage between US President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump is often up for debate. The two make appearances together every once in a while, but they have never really seemed to like each other, and they mostly stick to their own separate engagements. Perhaps that's why the news that Melania won't be present at one particular event isn't all that surprising.
RadarOnline is reporting that the first lady is set to skip the rescheduled White House Correspondents' Dinner, which will take place 3 months after the event was cancelled after a gunman was apprehended. Cole Tomas Allen, the alleged gunman, pleaded not guilty to all charges during a court appearance in May.

The Brooklyn Nets are now moving on with the rest of their offseason with the 2026 Las Vegas Summer League in the rearview mirror following a successful summer circuit. Brooklyn has made various moves over the course of the summer, including trading for Minnesota Timberwolves forward Julius Randle, and one of the ****** istant coaches approves of where the roster is at right now.
"What we’re excited about is the depth of legitimate NBA rotation players and potential rotation players we have now," a Nets ****** istant coach said of the team, according to Keith Smith of Spotrac. As the roster stands as of this writing, the starting lineup could be Mikel Brown Jr., Egor Demin, Michael Porter Jr., Julius Randle, and Day'Ron Sharpe.
"Not to speak ill of last year’s team, but we were down to rookies and non-NBA-level players by the end of the year. This year, we’ve got depth and the kids are improving too," the ****** istant coach continued, per Smith. Brooklyn finished the 2025-26 season with a lowly 20-62 record, rewarding them with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, allowing them to take Brown.
To the ****** istant coach's point, the Nets have re-signed Sharpe and forward Josh Minott while adding Randle, guard Keon Ellis, and center Mo Wagner (while his deal hasn't been officially announced yet). More to the point, Brooklyn has moved on from center Nic Claxton (who they traded to the Chicago Bulls as part of the four-team deal with the Timberwolves and Charlotte Hornets) while forward Ziaire Williams signed with the Los Angeles Lakers in free-agency.
The Nets also added forwards Joshua Jefferson and Tyler Bilodeau in the 2026 draft to go along with the five first-rounders they took in the 2025 class that the team is hoping breaks through at some point. Time will tell how good this current roster will be next season but as it stands now, one of Brooklyn's ****** istant coaches believes that this roster is better than the one from last season.

Last month, USC baseball lost pitching coach Sean Allen, who was named the new head coach at Lamar. To replace him, the Trojans hired Hawaii’s Keith Zuniga. However, it appears as though that will not be the only **** istant coaching change that Andy Stankiewicz and USC make this offseason.
On Wednesday, it was reported that hitting coach and recruiting coordinator Travis Jewett will be leaving the Trojans for Vanderbilt, where he will take over as the de facto general manager. However, it took less than a day for USC to find his replacement, as Wednesday night, reports surfaced that the Trojans will be hiring veteran **** istant and longtime friend of Stankiewicz Bill Mosiello as their new hitting coach.
“Mosiello comes to USC after being an **** istant at several big-name programs in his career, including Cal State Fullerton, Arizona State, and four different schools now in the SEC,” Shotgun Spratling of 247Sports wrote. “But he is most well known as being a top **** istant at TCU for 11 of the last 13 years where he helped push the program to new heights. The Horned Frogs went to four consecutive College World Series appearances from 2014 to 2017 with Mosiello as the hitting coach.
“He had been the **** ociate head coach under Kirk Saarloos the last two seasons after a two-year stint as Ohio State's head coach. He went 60-51 with the Buckeyes and took them to their first Big Ten Tournament in a half decade in 2024, but left the position to return to Fort Worth. The Horned Frogs saw dividends right away as the team average improved 25 points in 2025, and TCU returned to the NCAA tournament (only to be beaten by USC) after not making it in 2024.
“But after TCU struggled to meet expectations this season, missing the postseason for just the second time in Mosiello's 11 years with the program, the Horned Frogs made multiple changes to their **** istant coaching staff, including parting ways with Mosiello. That opened the door for Mosiello and Stankiewicz to finally unite after more than 50 years of friendship.”

My family has made tremendous sacrifices to support my career and I could not have done this without them. Sincere thanks to Coach Calhoun and Coach Hurley for believing in me at the beginning and conclusion of my coaching career. Former Spurs ***** istant Chip Engelland is leaving Oklahoma City to join the Houston Rockets, according to a report from ESPN's Shams Charania.
Engelland, long known as one of the league's best shooting coaches, built his reputation over nearly two decades on Spurs coaching staffs under Gregg Popovich from 2005-22. While in San Antonio, he built a relationship with Rockets coach Ime Udoka, who had two stints with the Spurs as a player (2007-09 and 2010-11) and served as an ***** istant coach from 2012-19.
After leaving the Spurs four years ago, Engelland helped build a championship team in Oklahoma City along with head coach Mark Daigneault and general manager Sam Presti, another former Spurs staffer. Tom Moore, a key part of the UConn men's basketball team's success for 21 seasons over two different tenures and several job ***** les, will be calling an end to his career.
Moore boasts four national championship rings as an ***** istant coach, two under Jim Calhoun and two under Dan Hurley. He initially joined Calhoun's staff in 1994 and spent 13 seasons as an ***** istant and key recruiter, helping the Huskies to national ***** les in 1999 and 2004. In 2007, he headed down to Quinnipiac to take over the head coaching reins and lasted 10 seasons.
Moore was fired from Quinnipiac in 2017 and joined Hurley's staff at Rhode Island. The following season, he followed Hurley to UConn and was an ***** istant on the 2023 and 2024 repeat national ***** le teams.
Prior to last season, Moore took over the program's newly-created general manager position, in which he handled name, image and likeness (NIL) and transfer portal issues, among many other duties.
Moore, 61, was simply tired of the day-to-day grind that the new world of college athletics has unleashed. For example, barely an hour after the Huskies had lost to Michigan in the national championship game, the transfer portal opened. Throughout the entire flight back to Connecticut, Hurley asked Moore about the amount of money the program might have for this player, for that player. The next day, less than 24 hours after the championship game, the entire staff was back at the Werth Family Champions Center.

USC baseball, during an offseason in which they’ve lost a handful of key players to the transfer portal and MLB Draft, are now losing a coach.
Assistant coach Travis Jewett is set to leave the program to join Vanderbilt as the Director of Player Strategy/Personnel. Jewett previously spent time with Vanderbilt as an **** istant coach from 2013-16.
Jewett had been with the Trojans since 2022, when he came on as the hitting coach and recruiting coordinator for the program, and helped create one of the best USC teams in recent memory.
Through Jewett and head coach Andy Stankiewicz, the Trojans transformed into a force to be reckoned with in the Big Ten. They had a fantastic season in 2026, coming within just two outs of their first College World Series Berth since 2001.
USC finished the year with a 48-18 record, claiming first in the Big Ten with a 20-10 record. They only lost one game at home over the course of the season, posting a 32-1 record.

Washington Huskies coach Danny Sprinkle has completed his coaching staff with the hiring of 25-year NBA veteran ***** istant coach Charles Klask.
Klask, a graduate of Michigan State in 1999, began his coaching career in the NBA as a video coordinator for the Detroit Pistons in 2000-01 under then-coach Rick Carlisle. He spent the next decade as a scout with the Orlando Magic, working for Doc Rivers and Stan Van Gundy among other notable head coaches for the organization before he advanced into a coaching role.
Most recently, Klask spent eight seasons with the Denver Nuggets as an ***** istant coach, helping develop players like three-time MVP big man Nikola Jokić, while being on staff for the franchise's first championship in 2023.
The hiring of Klask is the second confirmed coaching change this offseason for Sprinkle. It follows the addition of ex-Marquette ***** istant coach DeAndre Haynes, giving Sprinkle a wealth of experience joining his bench for the 2026-27 men's basketball season as the third-year coach aims to return UW to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2019 under former coach Mike Hopkins.
Having coached numerous All-Star-caliber players in the NBA over his two-plus decades spent in the league—Blake Griffin, Chauncey Billups, and Andre Drummond, among several others—the addition of the Big Ten alum should blend well with a veteran-laden roster that features seven juniors and seniors.

LOS ANGELES -- Head coaches need a lot of help. Each head coach has a slew of ****** istants that help them out and for the most part, they don't get a lot of publicity. But make no mistake; ****** istant coaches do a lot of work. And sometimes, it's the first step to them eventually becoming a head coach.
One such individual is Los Angeles Sparks ****** istant coach Zak Buncik. After a stint with the Dallas Wings, the Sparks hired Buncik for an ****** istant coach position before the 2025 season.
So we caught up with Coach Buncik after practice on Thursday and talked basketball, Sparks, coaching, and more basketball!
THE SPORTING TRIBUNE: What is your role on this team as ****** istant coach?
COACH ZAK BUNCIK: This year, it switched over from offense to defense. So me and (assistant coach) Ebony (Hoffman) are doing the defense this year so it's a little bit of an adjustment for me. I was with offense with (Sparks head coach) Lynne (Roberts) last year so that's my biggest role this year. And then, obviously, player development still with the players.

PHILADELPHIA – Here in the cradle of liberty, 250 years after the United States declared its independence, it was worth remembering the foreign country most instrumental in aiding that eventually successful quest.
That was France, which made its national soccer team's appearance at Lincoln Financial Field in a World Cup round-of-16 game particularly and pleasantly appropriate.
Just as July 4 was worth celebrating, so were France's efforts on the hot late afternoon/early evening in what became a rather unruly 1-0 round-of-16 win over Paraguay.
It was decided when Kylian Mbappe scored a 70th-minute penalty kick after teammate Desire Doue was tripped while dribbling through defenders, though it took video-assistant referee ****** ysis to identify a clear foul that on-field referee Ilgiz Tantashev missed.
Even on a day when it failed to exhibit its typical offensive polish, France looked as worthy a potential champion as anyone in this wonderful quadrennial competition while dominating possession.

DJ Moore hasn’t caught his first pass in a Buffalo Bills uniform, but he’s already figuring out one of the quickest ways to become a fan favorite in Buffalo.
According to a news report from WKBW, Moore recently stopped by Tee Shirt University at the Walden Galleria while shopping with his family. After spotting a display of Bills T-shirts with his name and number, he asked how much it would cost to buy them all.
The answer? About $1,200 for all 27 shirts.
Without hesitation, Moore bought every one of them and told the store to give them away to fans for free.
Assistant manager Scott Marshall told WKBW that Moore kept the interaction lighthearted, even joking that he “worked for” DJ Moore before revealing it really was him. As he walked out, Moore stuck his head back into the store and simply said, “Yeah, it’s me.”

We were warned last week to expect a "different Steve Clarke".
I'm not sure if we were predicting him to be "doing cartwheels down at breakfast".
Assistant coach Steven Naismith was, of course, speaking in jest at Clarke's reaction to Scotland's victory against Haiti on Saturday - the country's first at a World Cup in 36 years - but it is a sign of the shift among the squad and staff.
The head coach has not hidden in recent weeks that he "didn't enjoy" the first two major tournaments he led his country in and insisted he would "soak it up" stateside.
It's clear that message is being fed to the players, too.

Florida baseball is set to have another change to its coaching staff.
Assistant coach Taylor Black will be joining NC State’s staff as the recruiting coordinator, according to multiple reports.
