It may not be long before we find out whether Aaron Donald is coming out of retirement or not. According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk, Donald could make a decision about his future in the coming days.
Sean McVay said there would be no update until the team leaves training camp, so Florio's report tracks with that timeline. The Rams will hold their last practice of camp on Friday before returning to Woodland Hills this weekend.
If Donald does decide to come back, Florio says he could be on the field for 30-40 snaps in the Week 1 opener against the San Francisco 49ers in Australia.
"If he decides to do it, we could have an announcement within the next few days," Florio said on NBC's pregame show Thursday night. "And if that happens, the Rams would go back to 2017, 2018, he was a training camp holdout, he didn't have much practice. They'll give him a few weeks of on-field activities with his teammates to get him ready for the first game. And the first game is five weeks away in Australia against the 49ers. I'm told, if he comes back, he could get between 30-40 snaps in that debut."
Donald has stayed in shape throughout his two-year retirement, and it's likely that all he'd need to get into football shape is a few weeks. He's been ramping up his training in anticipation of this possible comeback, even putting in an official workout with the Rams this week.

The 35-year-old Donald participated in a hosted workout with the Rams, according to the league's official transaction wire, which records such workouts with free agents before their possible signings to NFL rosters.
Donald has been working out at the Rams' Woodland Hills training complex and at home for several weeks in his attempt to return to NFL shape. While the Rams have emphasized their willingness to wait indefinitely for Donald to decide, coach Sean McVay has expressed cautious optimism in the past week about the prospect of lining up Donald and Myles Garrett together this season on a remarkable defensive line.
"If there's an arrow, it's trending upwards," McVay said last Friday.

The Rams are currently working out at Loyola Marymount University through Aug. 6, but McVay indicated any decision on Donald possibly ending his retirement would not come until they return to their facility in the San Fernando Valley.
"That'll be something that, I think, once we get back to Woodland Hills, we'll have a better idea of what that timeline looks like. There won't be any decision and anything in terms of Aaron's situation while we're here. That's kind of already been set out when we've talked for the past couple weeks," McVay said.
A three-time AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year and eight-time All-Pro, Donald retired in March 2024 as the Rams' career leader in sacks with 111 in 154 games. One of the most disruptive linemen in league history, he helped Los Angeles win a ****** le following the 2021 season. McVay provided a small update on Donald's progress Tuesday after the Rams' third practice of training camp at Loyola Marymount University. The coach said he's speaking with the 35-year-old Donald during the process of determining whether he'll return for an 11th NFL season after a 2 1/2-year retirement.
"We've kept in contact," McVay said with a small smile. "He's feeling good. His training is going really well, but no new news on the front of any imminent decision on whether or not he's going to play or not."
McVay curiously claimed he didn't know whether Donald has been working out at the Rams' training complex in Woodland Hills, even though Donald has been seen and photographed at the facility. Donald has been a regular visitor to the Rams' complex ever since he walked away from the team somewhat abruptly in March 2024 following a decade of dominance.
"He's got places that he can train at," McVay said. "He's not here with us (at Loyola Marymount). There's **** ody at the Rams facility right now, so maybe TMZ knows the answer to that."

The world No. 1 started out strong with a 6-under 65, three strokes behind Ben Kohles. But the one to watch early on is Jackson Koivun, the 21-year-old who won the Jack Nicklaus, Ben Hogan and Fred Haskins award twice apiece at Auburn. In his third tournament as a full card-carrying PGA Tour member, Koivun shot a bogey-free round of 7-under 64. He's tied with Emiliano Grillo after Round 1.
Lucas Glover, Gary Woodland and Michael Brennan look to climb farther up the leaderboard today. There's a lot of room for movement around the cut line at TPC Twin Cities, with Hideki Matsuyama among those right on the projected cut line.

The Rams have let Donald use their facility in retirement, with his recent workout being nothing more than a continuation of his post-playing workout regimen. However, the image of Donald gracing the gridiron has many hoping that it reignites the fire to inspire a return to the NFL.
On "Good Morning Football", former NFL safety Donte Whitner spoke about the possibility of Donald coming back, pointing out that while Donald would be welcomed on the field, his presence in the facility could be the key to fixing a massive problem that prevented the team from winning a championship in 2025.
"Think about this: The greatest defender of this generation walks into the building. You know what instantly happens? Everybody's standard rises," Whitner said. "The front office members, the coaching staff, and especially the players, and even if Aaron Donald isn't playing every week – I've heard that he's probably going to play eight games minimum – his presence still matters. The young players can watch how he studies, prepares, communicates, goes about his business. The veterans are reminded what championship-level work looks like, and you know you have a coach. He can talk about greatness all he wants, but when Aaron Donald walks in that building, that's greatness in the flesh. So I think it elevates everybody around you, and it does give you extreme Super Bowl expectancy."
The Rams' defense had a self-reported maturity issue entering the NFC Championship Game, and when the team failed to stop the Seattle Seahawks' offense early, their problems balled up into a series of failures that would result in a loss.
The team did fix the issue with the additions of Super Bowl champions Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson, along with superstar defender Myles Garrett, but if Donald is around, that's a player who finished the job for the Rams during their last championship run. Setting a standard that high among the characters in the Rams' locker room would build a flexible, formidable, and near-impenetrable defense – at least in theory.

Aaron Donald works out seemingly every day, even in retirement. But there was something different about Friday's workout.
That's because he moved his training session to the Los Angeles Rams' facility in Woodland Hills. According to TMZ, Donald was spotted working out on the practice field at the Rams' headquarters, spending about an hour going through drills "until he was clearly gassed."

A live stream of a nesting pair of honey buzzards is offering a rare glimpse into one of the UK's most secretive birds of prey.
The birds, which have laid two eggs in Sussex woodland, are being filmed around the clock as they incubate them and prepare for the arrival of chicks.
Experts say it is the first time such detailed nesting behaviour has been captured for the species, which migrates from West Africa in May.
"It's phenomenal, it is such an intimate glimpse in to this secretive bird. We are already learning so much about their lives," said Ash Walmsley, who is leading the project.
Very little is known about the unusual species, which feeds on wasp larvae, as they are often misidentified.

In response, the USGA began aggressively watering the greens on Wednesday and even announced plans to “syringe” them between the morning and afternoon waves should they require it. They have also reduced their target green speeds from 12-13 on the stimpmeter to 10.5 in anticipation of the gusty conditions. It’s not certain why Rai adopted this unconventional practice routine, but it’s possible the practice greens didn’t reflect that speed change on Wednesday, so Rai moved to the closest place that did:
