The Vanguard High Dividend Yield ETF (NYSEMKT: VYM) is a popular exchange-traded fund for income-oriented investors. It passively tracks the FTSE High Dividend Yield Index, which includes over 600 U.S. dividend-paying stocks with above-average yields, and charges a low expense ratio of 0.04%. It had a 30-day SEC yield of 2.22% at the end of July.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
VYM's underlying index ranks dividend-paying U.S. companies by their expected yield for the next 12 months. It then chooses the top-yielding half and weights them by market capitalization. It also intentionally excludes real estate investment trusts (REITs), which generally pay high yields but don't qualify for lower tax rates. That process of elimination causes VYM to gravitate toward stable, mature sectors -- including financials, industrial, healthcare, consumer staples, and energy -- while giving it less exposure to the tech sector than the major market indexes.
VYM pays a lower yield than other dividend-oriented ETFs, but it's generated a total return of nearly 500% since its inception in Nov. 2006. Parking $50,000 in VYD would net you $1,100 in annual dividends today, and reinvesting that income could boost your payout to thousands of dollars per year over the next few decades.

MISHAWAKA — It would be hard to say with certain whose post-match smile was the biggest Thursday, Aug. 20 between NorthWood volleyball coach Hilary Laidig and her star player Ella Branham.
Both of their faces lit up the Marian High School gym with beaming pride following a key early-season victory.
Laidig watched as her gritty Panthers shook off a slow start to down the host Knights 3-1 in a matchup of area powers and Class 3A heavyweights.
Senior Branham powered down 21 kills to go with 15 digs as NorthWood prevailed 20-25, 27-25, 25-14, 26-24 in steamy conditions on Demetrius Jackson Court.

Jim West thinks UFC champion Sean Strickland presents a challenge that ***** ody else does at middleweight.
Anthony Hernandez (15-3 MMA, 9-3 UFC) saw his eight-fight winning streak snapped by Strickland (31-7 MMA, 18-7 UFC) in February. Strickland went onto upset Khamzat Chimaev to claim the middleweight ***** le at UFC 328.
Hernandez's coach West says they approached Strickland's unique style incorrectly.
"Like in Anthony's case, obviously he had an eight-fight win streak, which is the longest in UFC middleweight history, and then he had a mishap," West told MMA Junkie Radio. "OK, well, you fought a unicorn. Sean Strickland is a unicorn, right? When you look at all the middleweights, he's the only one that's going to present that thing that he does, right? There's no one else like Sean Strickland, so you have to throw that aside.
"It's almost kind of an outlier. There's things that I think went into that fight where he might have been in his own head a little bit that we talked about with certain things as far as the approach, and we just got caught against the now-current UFC champ. He's one-of-a-kind. We got caught, we made some mistakes, we didn't approach the fight the way we were supposed to, and we lost. You have to move on."

The Oregon Ducks have released multiple rosters this offseason, but on Wednesday night, they finally revealed the new heights and weights for every player on the 2026 roster.
Several Ducks have mentioned transforming their bodies this offseason as a key focus, either adding or shedding weight. Matayo Uiagalelei was one of the notable losers in the offseason, hoping to slim down and to become quicker and bendier on the edge. Nasir Wyatt, on the other hand, added weight to be more physical on the edge while also sliding around on defense.
With the release, we also officially learned the height and weight of the freshmen on the roster, some of whom have already seen massive transformations since arriving on campus, while others are, by nature, massive.
The entire roster is worth a look, but some players stood out more than others. Let's take a look at some of the most notable changes and additions to the roster this season.
QB Dante Moore up 14 pounds to 220 pounds

After a blistering start to their domestic season, Celtic will begin their Champions League campaign on Wednesday night by hosting LASK in the first leg of the play-off round. The spirit must be high in the camp after the weekend's thumping 4-0 League Cup win at Tannadice Park against Dundee United. But the Austrian heavyweights, who won their first league ****** le in 61 years, would be more resolute in deep defence.
Meanwhile, the LASK boss Dietmar Kühbauer considers the home side favourites for this European encounter. However, he calls for a balanced and proactive performance in Glasgow rather than a purely defensive approach, and this midweek contest would be a tactical battle between two domestic champions in their first-ever competitive meeting for a lucrative league-phase spot in this coveted tournament.
The Hoops are weighing up a move for another goalkeeper. But they are not in a rush, thanks to Viljami Sinisalo's command and composure ever since replacing the injured Kasper Schmeichel between the sticks earlier this year.

Alistair Johnston's injury is a massive blow, and the gaffer Martin O'Neill is likely to rely on Colby Donovan down the right, having preferred him over Anthony Ralston in recent fixtures. Liam Scales got the nod against the Tangerines as a left fullback, but could make way for Kieran Tierney, who remains the preferred choice for his flair, finesse and trademark crosses. The USMNT duo Cameron Carter-Vickers and Auston Trusty should continue as the first-team central defensive pairing.

The ideal start for Mikel Arteta's side, who also broke the record for the fastest-ever goal in the Community Shield.

Mackenzie Dern successfully defended her strawweight **** le with a largely one-sided but somewhat lackluster outing against Gillian Robertson in the UFC 330 co-main event.
Takedowns and submission attempts ruled the day for Dern as she came close to finishing Robertson a couple of times during the fight but she mostly just maintained control and showed she was the superior grappler. Robertson really didn't produce any offense until the final round and even then she just managed to stay in control on the ground without really damaging Dern.
When it was over the judges scored the fight 49-46, 49-46 and 48-47 with Dern getting the unanimous decision victory.
"I'm super happy," Dern said about her win. "My first **** le win I got taken down a lot of times so I've been working on my wrestling. I'm still the champion. I definitely wanted to submit her, that was the goal. I try to get submissions in all my fights. I wish I could do some more damage to set up the submissions."
A striking exchange led to Robertson shooting for a takedown but Dern countered effectively before the strawweights separated again. Dern was very effective with her combinations including a stiff leg kick that kept chipping away at Robertson's base.

Jalin Turner is not getting paid by the hour because he needed just 39 seconds to lay waste to Kaue Fernandes at UFC 330 on Saturday.
After a brief retirement, Turner has returned to action with a renewed purpose and he showed that he's still one of the top lightweights in the world with his latest performance.
The fight ended after Fernandes threw an ill-advised spinning back fist and Turner quickly countered with a punch of his own followed by an uppercut that blasted the Brazilian and sent him down to the canvas. Turner continued unloading shots until referee Jason Herzog saw enough as Fernandes fell unconscious with the fight being stopped at 39 seconds into the opening round.
Turner has now won two fights in a row — both by knockout — and he's looking to get back into the lightweight top 15 now that he's sticking around.
"I would like to see a number next to my name again," Turner said after his win. "I'd like to see it again."

If you didn't think reigning UFC flyweight champion Joshua Van and former ****** leholder Alexandre Pantoja were enemies then Friday's UFC 331 pre-fight press conference certainly set the record straight.
The new champ and the old champ really don't like each other.
Van and Pantoja first met back at UFC 323 in Dec. 2025, but that flyweight ****** le fight ended in disaster. Pantoja, who was the reigning and defending champion at the time, injured his arm just 26 seconds into the fight (watch HERE). While some may have looked at it as a cheap victory for Van that didn't stop the young flyweight from stepping into the role as champion. As Pantoja recovered from his injury Van successfully defended the 125-pound ****** le against Tatsuo Taira at UFC 328 this past May in one of the best flyweight fights of all time.
The budding rivals will finally run it back when they meet atop UFC 331 on Sept. 19 from Los Angeles, California. It will be Van's second-straight ****** le defense and Pantoja's first action since coughing up the belt eight months ago. Needless to say, Van and Pantoja are eager to get back into the Octagon and prove who the best flyweight in the world is.
On Friday, the two men took to the stage for UFC 331's pre-fight press conference. While they are usually reserved and respectful towards their opponents, Van and Pantoja were everything but when the microphones went live. Both flyweights talked trash on stage and at one point Pantoja got out of his chair and tried to press Van. Luckily, UFC CEO Dana White was right in the middle of it to prevent Pantoja from doing something he'd regret.

Roughly a thousand spectators cheered as teens Kylie Ritchie of Connecticut and Bridget Kavan of Nebraska ran from platform to platform, swinging on monkey bars and a rope, heaving weights and clambering up a wall in an American Ninja Warrior-like competition.
Among the onlookers was President Donald Trump, who watched the semi-finals and finals of the Patriot Games on Aug. 11. He later presented the two winners — a boy and a girl — with two golden trophies and $125,000 in scholarship prize money each.
Joining Trump inside the sprawling Spire Academy athletic facility located just outside Geneva in Northeast Ohio's wine country were Ohio Republican Sen. Bernie Moreno, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt and ESPN personality Pat McAfee.
Speaking in a mid-event interview, Trump said the athletes were doing "fantastically well" and that he was looking forward to watching the finals.
"This has been as exciting as everything; I didn't know what to expect," Trump said of the Patriot Games.

Daniel Cormier wants Ali Abdelaziz to pump the brakes on PFL champion Usman Nurmagomedov's chances against top UFC lightweights.
Nurmagomedov (22-0) is a free agent after knocking out Archie Colgan in the first-round of the PFL New York main event earlier this month. If Nurmagomedov does end up signing with the UFC, his manager, Abdelaziz, claimed on the "Pound 4 Pound" podcast that he would have his way with Ilia Topuria, Paddy Pimblett, Charles Oliveira, and Max Holloway – which Cormier thinks is an absurd statement to make.
"I get it, that's your guy, you're a promoter, but you're speaking about the absolute best guys in the world," Cormier said on his YouTube channel. "Now, to have faith and think Usman Nurmagomedov can fight these guys, absolutely. ... I think Usman Nurmagomedov is special. I think Usman Nurmagomedov, if he comes to the UFC, immediately becomes one of the top contenders in the organization. I have seen this young man train. I have seen him work. I know that he has championship-level experience."
While Nurmagomedov got some of that championship-level experience through two tough outings against Paul Hughes, Cormier said the UFC would be a step up in competition.
"As good as the Irish kid is, the UFC guys are better," Cormier said. "So you would imagine that these fights would be ultra competitive, but that's the beauty in having a guy separate himself from the world in a different organization. That's the beauty because while what Ali says is very out there, when he looks at that group of fighters, he would expect that because that's all they've really done. Umar has done very well. Khabib dominated; Islam has dominated.

With the first week of NFL preseason kicking off this week, Nate Davis of USA TODAY Sports has released his updated NFL power rankings.
Davis is giving the Denver Broncos a lot of respect, ranking them third overall, only trailing the Los Angeles Rams (No. 1) and Seattle Seahawks (No. 2). By his estimation, Denver's the team to beat in the AFC this fall.
"You can make a legitimate case that at least half of the AFC's teams have a bona fide shot to reach the Super Bowl − which, conversely, also suggests none of them exactly seem like heavyweights well positioned to compete with the NFC's elite," Davis wrote for USA TODAY. "But the Broncos were probably one key injury away from going to Super Bowl 60 and might be even better in Year 3 of the Sean Payton-Bo Nix era, the latter healthy once again.
Elsewhere in the AFC West, the Kansas City Chiefs are ranked No. 14, the Los Angeles Chargers are ranked No. 16 and the Las Vegas Raiders are ranked No. 28. To view the complete power rankings, visit USATODAY.com.

Obviously, Bayern Munich would love for Harry Kane to get the acclaim he deserves and win the Ballon d'Or, but the club does have other reasons for hoping that the Englishman can win the coveted trophy:
I heard it would be a very important thing for Harry Kane to win this year's Ballon d'Or. It would also be very important for Bayern Munich, because it would show that the club can be anything for any player and that the Bundesliga is not just a "farmer's league"; the best players can play in the German top-flight. For Kane, of course, it would be important after England's disappointing exit from the World Cup. He won the golden boot this season, the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal, so he has a very good chance. I had a look at the bookies and they have very good odds on Harry Kane. But he has, of course, competition; there's Kylian Mbappe who scored 10 goals, Lionel Messi (who's already a big name) with eight goals in the World Cup, and don't forget the world champions with Rodri and Lamine Yamal, not to mention Ousmane Dembele from PSG who helped them win the Champions League. So, it's getting difficult for Harry Kane.
Ultimately, Kane winning the Ballon d'Or would also be beneficial for Bayern's negotiations with Michael Olise, as it proves to the Frenchman that he can achieve anything he wants with the Bavarian giants. So, perhaps he doesn't need to have his head turned by Real Madrid or other European heavyweights. Bayern Munich are looking at the Ballon d'Or ceremony, and it's in London on October 26 – so, a home advantage for Harry Kane.
Bayern Munich is not in the wrong here. The Bundesliga could use a profile boost and there is no other club equipped to help provide that. Just two years ago, Jamal Musiala was being touted as a Ballon d'Or candidate. Now, with Kane and Olise, it actually does have two players who performed to the requisite level of play to be under consideration.
For this writer, Kane has the edge over Olise, but both are likely to be swallowed by the propaganda machine that is France Football. Somehow, though. Mbappé and Messi will probably garner more consideration.

A new lightweight contender has arrived.
Quillan Salkilld (13-1 MMA, 6-0 UFC) had to eat a punch or two, but mostly tore right through Mateusz Gamrot (26-5 MMA, 9-5 UFC) in the UFC Fight Night 284 main event at a newly refurbished Meta APEX in Las Vegas. And now that more fans can take in a show like Saturday's, they got a treat out of the gate.
A Salkilld win by submission over a credentialed wrestler and grappler like Gamrot was one of the least likely predicted outcomes in the headliner. But afterward, Salkilld said his rear-naked choke with 35 seconds left in the first is just the type of performance lightweights can expect – and he has his sights set on the top five.
"I just proved I'm the real f*cking deal now. These top five (lightweights) better (watch out)," Salkilld said on the microphone with Daniel Cormier. "I believe I can get it done within the first minute or the last minute. ... I think I deserve someone who's in the top five or close to it."
Salkilld tried to get a quick start and took the center quickly. In some tight exchanges early, Salkilld landed and forced Gamrot to look for a takedown – not at all unexpected. He got a single-leg briefly, but also appeared to be hurt.

Diyar Nurgozhay finally lived up to his hype earlier tonight (Sat., Aug. 8, 2026) at UFC Vegas 120 LIVE on Paramount+ from inside the revamped Meta Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, as the light heavyweight prospect laid waste to Bruno Lopes via TKO with one second left in the first round.
Fight fans probably didn't have this matchup circled on their event card, but it had all the ingredients to deliver instant fireworks. That's because both guys are strikers and have a history outside of UFC for finishing their opponents. It was up to both light heavyweights to finally rise to a UFC level to earn their stripes and leave "Sin City" victorious.
While Lopes tried his heart out it was Nurgozhay who delivered the goods. With about 30 seconds left in the first round Nurgozhay uncorked a left hand that connected on Lopes' temple and left him on skates. Nurgozhay eventually tracked him down along the cage and landed a nasty uppercut followed by a punch to the body and left hook upstairs to earn the stoppage. There was one second left on the clock when the referee waved the fight off.

There is something different about this Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON 2026). Not because of the packed stadiums, not because of the goals. Not even because of the quality of football — although that has continued to improve with every edition.
This tournament feels different because, perhaps for the first time, reputation alone is no longer enough.
For years, conversations around African women's football started and ended with a familiar list of nations. Nigeria, South Africa, Morocco, Cameroon, Ghana. They were predicted to dominate, while everyone else was merely expected to participate. WAFCON 2026 has quietly challenged that ***** umption.
This tournament has reminded us that African women's football has entered a new era. One where investment, opportunity and belief are beginning to level the playing field.
Many expected the traditional heavyweights to progress comfortably. Instead, this tournament has produced twists that have forced the continent to pay attention. Established teams have had to fight for every point, while emerging nations have shown they are no longer satisfied with simply making up the numbers. That is not a sign that the giants are falling, it is a sign that everyone else is rising.

Supporters of La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid have moved to lavish praise on a long-criticised member of the club's midfield ranks on Saturday evening.
This comes owing to his exploits in the club's latest outing. Los Blancos are currently locked in action in the Hungarian capital of Budapest. Amid ongoing preparations for the new campaign, the Spanish side have travelled for a pre-season clash with Ferencváros.
José Mourinho picked an XI full of recognisable faces for the fixture, with the likes of Denzel Dumfries, Federico Valverde, Arda Güler and Endrick in from the off.
It is another member of Real's line-up, though, who has turned heads with the level of his performance in Budapest…
After being singled out for widespread criticism for his latest friendly showing against Fiorentina last time out, Eduardo Camavinga has looked a completely different player to this point in proceedings on Saturday.

An insight into the financial details of the agreement reached between Spanish champions Barcelona and Premier League heavyweights Liverpool over Ronald Araújo has come to the fore online.
This of course comes as the defender prepares to take his talents to Merseyside for the season ahead.
Completely out of the blue, word was forthcoming on Friday evening that the Liverpool brass had found an accord with their Barcelona counterparts, over a surprise deal for Araújo.
After another challenging campaign on an individual level in 2025/26, the Uruguayan has made the call to depart Catalunya's capital on loan, through the summer of 2027.
At this point, Liverpool – on the lookout for a long-term replacement for Ibrahima Konaté – will have the option to make the signing a permanent one.

"Joel is great," Gansey said in an interview with ESPN's Kevin Negandhi that aired Thursday. "This is like the first summer I think in a while that he's been healthy, so he's been in the gym working out. He's been lifting weights. He's extra motivated. He wants to play a lot of games, and he's excited about the group we've built now. "Even before these trades and LeBron, I think he was excited. So he's motivated to have a good year and he's ready to go."

The New York Giants were supposed to have a laid-back practice on Thursday afternoon but two players had other ideas.
According to The Athletic's Dan Duggan, wide receiver Xavier Gipson and cornerback Nic Jones got into a fight after the very last play of practice.
Jones and Gipson ended up coming to blows before their teammates broke it up.
"Some fireworks after the last play of a light practice as WR Xavier Gipson and CB Nic Jones looked like a couple featherweights exchanging punches. Teammates moved in quickly to separate them but not before each fired off a few punches (both were wearing helmets)," Duggan reported.
Because the Giants had practiced with pads the last three days, they were allowed to do so again on Thursday.
