As Oak Grove football defensive lineman Deven Robertson celebrated a sack late in the second quarter against Hattiesburg, his crimson-colored, Oklahoma Sooner-branded gloves provided a pop of color that was a contrast to Oak Grove's all black uniforms.
The Oklahoma commit and the rest of the Warriors' defense were dominant in Oak Grove's 36-20 win over Hattiesburg on Sept. 12.
"We've got a good defense," Oak Grove coach Drew Causey said. "We've got guys over there that are really, really good."
The Warriors (2-1) held Hattiesburg (1-2) to 287 yards of total offense and forced two fumbles, one of which they returned 35 yards for a touchdown.
"The defense came and we played as a group," Robertson said. "We weren't selfish, we all came and played as one and played with effort."

It started with yelling about toilets. Steve Ballmer was so serious about turning the Los Angeles Clippers into a serious franchise for the first time in their existence that he wanted to make sure no fan ever waited in a long line to use the bathroom when the team opened its new arena. Ballmer's drive to win eventually led the Clippers to courting Kawhi Leonard in free agency, fresh off leading the Toronto Raptors to a 2019 NBA championship. Leonard wanted to live in Los Angeles, yes, but he also wanted Paul George as his running mate, so the Clippers shipped out a boatload of draft picks and future two-time MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to get him.
Leonard's people also made it known that their client wanted the type of big endorsement deals his off-putting, robotic personality couldn't land legitimately. Leonard's now infamous Uncle Dennis Robertson never tried to be subtle about his desire to secure similar off-court bags to the ones Kawhi's contemporaries like LeBron James, Steph Curry, and Kevin Durant were landing on their own accord, and leaks of his demands circulated as soon as Leonard hit free agency.
The Clippers became so entangled in pleasing Leonard that it led to blatant salary cap circumvention, first reported by investigative journalist Pablo Torre. The NBA found enough evidence supporting Torre's claims that it hammered the Clippers with the most severe penalty in league history, stripping five future first-round draft picks, suspending executives including Ballmer, and more. That figured to be the end of the story, with the Clippers spending the next decade trying to climb out of the abyss. Torre continued to hint that there was another shoe to drop, and now that it's here, the Clippers might be in much bigger trouble than anyone first believed.
The Department of Justice has opened a criminal investigation into the Clippers, according to the New York Times, and it's already issued one subpoena. While the scope of the investigation is unclear for now, the fact that the feds are watching the Clippers for under-the-table dealings potentially makes this a much bigger deal than simply breaking NBA rules.
How does breaking NBA rules amount to a federal crime by the Clippers? While there's a lot left to come out, the main idea is that the Clippers committed some level of fraud. Daktronics was a publicly traded company, the only one of the four tied up in the Leonard scandal to fit that description, while Aspiration, Lockton Insurance, and Boingo Wireless were not. Publicly traded companies have a fiduciary duty to their shareholders to disclose big investments, and it sure feels like that never happened when dealing with Leonard.

They'll do so with a lineup that's seen plenty of turnover this summer. New offensive talents Andrei Kuzmenko and Nick Robertson are dotted among the forward corps' bottom six, and new blue-liners Trevor van Riemsdyk and Kaedan Korczak will slot in to replace key depth pieces. The most important change, though, might be the fact that the net will be turned over to young Arturs Silovs.
The 25-year-old split netminding duties with a veteran partner for the entirety of last season — first with Tristan Jarry and then Stuart Skinner following the trade that brought the two-time Cup finalist to Pittsburgh. It was Skinner who got the start for the first few games of the post-season, before Silovs took over and nearly pulled Pittsburgh back from an 0-3 series deficit. With Skinner headed to Winnipeg, it'll be up to Silovs and young Sergei Murashov to keep Sidney Crosby's club in the post-season picture once again.

The Washington Commanders finalized their first 53-man roster of 2026 on Sunday. It's always important to stress that this is an initial 53-man roster, as it will change frequently, and likely on Monday. Washington is No. 7 in waiver priority and could look to add offensive line or cornerback help.
Here are five takeaways from the Commanders' initial 53-man roster.
The most shocking part of Washington's initial 53-man roster was that it only kept three cornerbacks. A questionable position is now even more worrisome. Of course, the primary news centered around second-year cornerback Trey Amos beginning the season on the reserve/injured list. Amos fractured his fibula in Week 10 last season. He missed the start of training camp, only to return and injure his ankle. He hasn't been back at practice and will not be ready for Week 1. Amos was expected to be one of Washington's primary corners. In addition to moving Amos to IR, the Commanders also released Fabian Moreau. This move appears to be more procedural and Washington will bring Amos back once Laremy Tunsil and Johnny Newton are moved to IR.
The Commanders will again have four cornerbacks when Moreau returns. Is that enough? Expect GM Adam Peters to carry multiple corners on the practice squad, and he could also bring in one via waivers. Washington is putting a lot of pressure on Mike Sainristil and Amik Robertson.
Two centers made the 53-man roster: Nick Allegretti and rookie Matt Gulbin. Washington cut Julian Good-Jones after giving him the majority of practice reps in training camp. Head coach Dan Quinn and Peters have mishandled this position since they cut Tyler Biadasz. This isn't even about Allegretti's injury concerns. We don't know if he can even play center consistently at the NFL level. Multiple centers were traded on Sunday, while Peters stayed pat. Is he really banking on Allegretti staying healthy for 17 games? Let's get this straight: Peters is counting on a veteran guard who missed almost all of training camp to stay healthy for a full season and play a position where he has less than 200 career NFL snaps. And his backup plan is a sixth-round rookie who struggled in the preseason and in a joint practice with the Ravens.

The US Department of Energy (DoE) has awarded $500m to seven companies developing domestic critical minerals processing, battery recycling and advanced battery-material projects, according to a DoE press release and reporting by Reuters.
The announcement comes as the US administration seeks to expand domestic supply chains for materials used across energy, industrial and defence applications.
The funding, announced on 20 August, is the third round of grants under the DoE's Battery Materials Processing and Battery Manufacturing and Recycling programmes. The department said the selected projects would expand US processing and recycling capacity while reducing reliance on foreign sources.
The awards come as President Donald Trump has called for the US to become the world's "minerals superpower" and reduce its dependence on China for critical materials. Reuters reported that the administration has been using loans, grants and government investments to encourage domestic mining and processing projects.
Audrey Robertson, ****** istant Secretary at the DOE, told Reuters that hundreds of applications had been received for the latest funding round. The selected projects, she said, were those considered "most promising" and offering the highest potential return in areas of the battery supply chain identified as priorities.

Tottenham Hotspur fans would have been expectant of great things coming into this season. Roberto De Zerbi had the squad performing admirably at the conclusion of last season as the club narrowly avoided relegation, and a strong preseason campaign combined with a flurry of activity in the transfer market seemed to herald a new dawn for the North London club. Instead, Spurs looked all at sea in their opening match of the 2026/27 season, crashing to a 3-0 defeat as they were dominated in all facets by a buoyant Brentford side.
Spurs' starting XI was much as expected, in line with the side De Zerbi had used in preseason accounting for absences due to World Cup duties, fitness, and injury. Mikey Moore made his second Spurs start on the right wing while Archie Gray captained the side, lining up at right back. He rounded out a new-look backline, with Gray, Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi, and Andy Robertson making up the back four. Keith Andrews named a strong side of his own, with new signing Mamadou Sangare lining up in midfield for Brentford and no room for Mikel Damsgaard, such was the quality of Brentford's other attacking options.
The first half was all Brentford, with Spurs looking all at sea. The home side nearly opened the scoring early via a set piece, as Andy Robertson's defensive header deflected narrowly over the crossbar, before Nathan Collins couldn't direct a header of his own on target. UFC 330 brought the violence – and the ***** ps and bruises.
On Thursday, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission (PSAC) released a full list of medical suspensions issued to the combatants from Saturday's event at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia.
The highest-profile name to receive a suspension was Islam Makhachev, who the commission diagnosed with a rib contusion, resulting in a 30-day term handed out. Ian Machado Garry, whom he beat by unanimous decision in the main event, did not receive a medical suspension. Neither did co-main event participants Mackenzie Dern and Gillian Robertson.
Three fighters from the undercard are facing indefinite suspensions. Unsurprisingly, Tresean Gore, who lost at least one tooth as the result of a Vicente Luque flying knee, is among that bunch. Eduardo Chapolin and Ramiz Brahimaj are also now on indefinite suspensions as a result of their finish losses.

Gillian Robertson isn't giving much credence to Din Thomas' apology.
Robertson, 31, suffered a unanimous decision loss to Mackenzie Dern in her bid for the UFC strawweight ***** le this past Saturday at UFC 330. It was Robertson's first UFC ***** le bout and came on the heels of a five-fight win streak that saw her claim the organization's all-time women's record for submission wins and pull into a tie for the most finishes in UFC women's history.
In the hours after Robertson's loss, her longtime coach Thomas — who also works as a broadcast ***** yst for Paramount+ — appeared on the UFC 330 post-show and proclaimed that Robertson had gone "as far as she can go" in her career, and thus Thomas, 49, was announcing his retirement from cornering fighters.
The remarks generated an immediate and intense backlash from both fighters and fans in the MMA community. Thomas subsequently issued a public apology Monday on his "Deep Waters" podcast, calling his comments "completely irresponsible."
"It was despicable," Thomas said. "I shouldn't have done it. I should have waited until maybe even today — a different time — rather than take away her moment."

Still buzzing from his U.S. Amateur victory on Sunday at Merion, England's Jack Whaley was among the players named to the GB&I Walker Cup team by the R&A on Tuesday morning.
"I think I proved that I'm good in match play," Whaley said.
Whaley, whom captain Dean Robertson admitted was not in line to be selected for his debut until he lifted the Havemeyer Trophy to earn an automatic bid, joins six returners from last year's 17-9 defeat to the U.S. at Cypress Point: Englishmen Tyler Weaver, Luke Poulter and Eliot Baker, Scotland's Niall Shiels Donegan and Connor Graham, and British Amateur champion Stuart Grehan of Ireland; all six had previously secured their spots via the World Amateur Golf Ranking.
"He performed so well under the umbrella at Merion with his double gloves on, showcasing that he can not only perform brilliantly in the U.S., but he can perform in adverse weather, too," Robertson said of the 22-year-old Whaley, a rising senior at Florida State and one of seven U.S. college products representing GB&I. "Before last week, I wouldn't have seen Jack in the team, but after watching him, the talent that he's got and the humility that he's got and the way that he spoke, I'm really excited to welcome him."

SINGAPORE/LONDON, Aug 18 (Reuters) - The U.S. dollar rose slightly on Tuesday but remained near multi-month lows against its peers as traders reduced their bets on rate hikes, although the threat of an escalation in the Middle East war left ‌sentiment fragile.
The euro eased away from two-month highs of $1.161 touched on Monday and was last little changed at $1.157.
Sterling was at $1.352, dipping 0.1% on ‌weak UK labour market data, just shy of the three-month peak it hit in the previous session.
Data in the past few weeks have pointed to a softer U.S. economy, including unexpected job losses last month and mild inflation readings, leading investors to scale back expectations of a rate hike by the U.S. Federal Reserve.

MackenzieDern believes she needs to improve a lot.

Dern put her Ultimate Fighting Championship strawweight **** le on the linefor the first time against GillianRobertson in the co-main event of UFC330. She outclassed Robertson in every facet to earn aunanimous decision win, but still isn't happy with herperformance.
The strawweight champion believes she needs to work on her cardio,endurance, striking and grappling. While Dern credits Robertson'stoughness, she believes she should have finished her counterpart.According to Dern, her performance might not have sufficed againsta surging contender.

"I'm not happy with my performance," Dern told Ariel Helwani. "Iwish I did better. I wasn't happy with my cardio, my endurance. Iwasn't happy with my striking. I wasn't happy with my grappling. Iwasn't happy. I should have done a lot of that stuff better. Ishould have finished that fight, honestly. Obviously, Gillian isvery tough too… If I fought that performance against someone elsecoming up, that wouldn't be good."

Dern won the vacant **** le against VirnaJandiroba last year after former champ Weili Zhangvacated the **** le and moved up. She is now looking to defend hertitle against Zhang, TatianaSuarez, or LupitaGodinez next.
