Burry re-established his bearish position with March 2027 $100 puts on Palantir, trading at $175, implying a 99%-plus collapse.
Palantir's Q2 numbers undercut Burry's thesis, with revenue up 93%, U.S. commercial sales up 149%, and $1.22 billion in free cash flow.
For Burry to win, Palantir's government moat, commercial growth, and cash generation would all need to simultaneously collapse, but the data does not show that happening.

The stock market has never had trouble producing extreme opinions, particularly when investors are trying to put a value on companies at the center of a technological revolution. Artificial intelligence has made that problem even harder. Some investors see a once-in-a-generation transformation that will create enormous pools of profits. Others see a speculative cycle in which today's growth rates eventually collide with tomorrow's valuation reality.

The dollar index (DXY00) fell to a 2.25-month low today and is down by -0.18%. The dollar extended last week's losses today after a raft of weaker-than-expected US economic news dialed back expectations of tighter Fed policy. The chance of a Fed rate hike next month has dropped to 31% from about 75% in late July.
The dollar is also being undercut by reduced safe-haven demand as President Trump appears to have given up on plans for any new major military attack on Iran for the time being, favoring economic pressure instead. Treasury Secretary Bessent said last Friday that the administration will soon announce unprecedented economic measures against Iran that "have never been seen in the history of economic isolation of a country." Yet, the military conflict continues as there were reports that Iran attacked two Abu Dhabi oil vessels in the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday night.

In case you missed the news, your Georgetown Hoyas secured a commitment from former DePaul big, NJ Benson. A 6-foot-8, 235-pound post-graduate from Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Benson was recently made eligible by federal court order and is forgoing a professional opportunity abroad to play with Ed Cooley and the Hoyas. "Benson" was a name Georgetown fans heard quite often over the past two years with key rebounds and put-backs against GU. He is a physical presence with great conference experience as a forward and center.
Hoyas fans should be excited as adding NJ Benson shows that Cooley can still identify talent and compete in the transfer market. This late-offseason fortification for the roster sends a message that is much louder than a mid-summer press conference. It might be time to start thinking of this roster as "intriguing" or something more.
The news of Benson's addition, reported first by On3.com, materialized from an unexpected set of circumstances. On July 31, U.S. District Judge Charlotte Sweeney in Denver granted a preliminary injunction that allows all Division I athletes who began competing in the 2022-23 season to receive a fifth year of eligibility. The NCAA had planned for a new five-year eligibility model to begin with the fall 2027 enrolling class, but the court ruling undercut this timeline, applying the standard retroactively to the high school class of 2022.
NCAA President Charlie Baker publicly stated that the ruling brings chaos to college sports and rosters across the country, referencing an effort in Congress to provide the NCAA antitrust protection on eligibility issues. A separate ruling in Tennessee applied to 19 specific basketball players, but the Colorado decision cast a much wider net. It meant all Division I players from that cycle gained another year of collegiate action.
For Ed Cooley and his staff, this administrative disruption proved advantageous. Benson opted to return to the college ranks and the Big East conference, utilizing his newly granted fifth year of eligibility to play in Washington, D.C.

The dollar index (DXY00) on Thursday ended the day little changed despite downward pressure from the dovish US PPI report, which lowered the odds of a Fed rate hike in September to 35% from 40% on Wednesday. In addition, the 10-year T-note yield fell -5 bp, undercutting the dollar's interest rate differentials.
The dollar was also undercut by reduced safe-haven demand as there were no overnight reports of new military attacks by the US or Iran in the Persian Gulf. Market concerns about the Middle East were also reduced slightly by news reports saying that the Trump administration is pivoting to using the naval blockade to apply economic pressure on Iran rather than new military attacks. There is no sign of any progress between the US and Iran on an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, although some ships are still getting through by turning off their transponders and hoping for the best.

I asked if silver's price action will be a bucking bronco in a July 3, 2026, Barchart article where I concluded with the following:
Silver is a trading market, not an investing market, in early Q3 2026. Any new risk positions should have a clear risk-reward profile with profit horizons and commensurate stop levels. I expect silver's price to remain a bucking bronco over the coming weeks and months.
Dollar Ends Higher Despite Dovish US CPI Report
Dollar Slips on Dovish US CPI Report

The Seattle Mariners have stuck a fork trident in themselves. And yet, they must continue. 43 games stand between Seattle and the finish line. Laying an egg on a crucial and emotionally charged homestand means the Mariners now enter their most daunting road trip of the season needing a swathe of unlikely victories to bring any semblance of expectations back to their season. That starts tonight at Yankee Stadium, where the battered Bronx Bombers lurk in a measured kinship with the M's in resentment of the surging Tampa Bay Rays.
Get prepared for this three game set with the Series Preview from Jake and Isabelle here.
Series Preview: Mariners (56-63) at Yankees (66-52)
The absence of Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger has undercut the overwhelming nature of the Yankees lineup, but the arrival of Luis Garcia Jr. from the Nationals at the trade deadline, along with lefty-killer Heliot Ramos and rookie George Lombard Jr., has kept the forces behind Benito Arroz formidable. Seattle will face two lefties this series, starting with Ryan Weathers whose groundball stuff has been highly effective as a back of the rotation arm for New York.
First Pitch: 4:05 pm PDT

It wasn't that long ago, June 28th, that Tyler Allen played it safe at Sonoma Raceway and Ty Gibbs really wished his crew chief had been more aggressive.
At the time, Allen took what looked like a car capable of challenging Shane Van Gisbergen for the win but took a more conservative strategy that led to a second-place finish. Allen, not knowing if they would have enough to take on SVG on a road course elected to get stage points and retain a spot inside the top five of the championship standings.
Allen was playing a long game, recognizing there would come a time and place to be aggressive for Gibbs, and Sunday at Iowa Speedway was just the moment.
Gibbs was running third behind Christopher Bell and Ryan Blaney approaching the final green flag pit cycle. Blaney undercut Bell but couldn't blend back in front of the Joe Gibbs Racing No. 20.
Allen gambled further, taking two tires, and coming out ahead of both of them. Earlier in the race, Bell was able to pass Blaney for the lead on four tires versus two, but Allen tasked Gibbs with aggressively defending the lead.

September WTI crude oil (CLU26) today is down -3.77 (-4.72%), and September RBOB gasoline (RBU26) is down -0.1201 (-4.05%).
Crude oil and gasoline prices are sharply lower today for a second day, with crude falling to a 3-week low and gasoline dropping to a 4.75-month nearest-futures low. Growing hopes that the US and Iran are moving to a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz are weighing on crude prices. Ocean Network Express (ONE) reported Q1 FY2026 revenue of US$4.539 billion and a net profit of $31 million, while lifting its full-year profit forecast sharply to $900 million from the prior $300 million guidance.
For the April–June period, the joint venture of three ****** an-based container carriers posted revenue of $4.54 billion, up from $4.05 billion in the year-ago fiscal quarter. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) rose to $707 million from $616 million, while EBITDA margin improved to 15.6% from 15.2%.
That compares to EBITDA margin of 22.7% for competitors CMA CGM of France and 16.8% for Maersk (OTC: AMKBY)
Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) totaled $76 million against $38 million, while EBIT margin was better at 1.7% versus 0.9%.
But higher fuel costs from the effects of the Iran war undercut net profit that tumbled to $31 million from $86 million. Container volumes grew 3.257 million twenty foot equivalent units (TEUs) from 3.165 million TEUs in Q1 FY2025.

The surprise: Wall Street expected Ford's Q2 2026 earnings to fall about 5% year over year. Ford instead posted an increase. The stock jumped more than 6% after the report.
The quarter's story was Ford making more money on fewer sales. Wholesale volumes dropped 12% year over year, but revenue fell just 4%, because Ford sold a richer mix of high-margin trucks, off-roaders, and hybrids. Adjusted EBIT rose 17% year over year.
Ford raised full-year 2026 adjusted EBIT guidance, the second raise this year.
Bull case: The real reason to own Ford is Ford Pro, its commercial fleet business, and it's the strongest ******* et any legacy automaker has. Pro sells to construction firms, delivery companies, and contractors — customers who keep buying through inflation and fuel spikes because a plumber can't stop showing up to jobs. Those buyers are far steadier than the average consumer, who is pulling back right now. And Pro isn't just vans. It's an entire infrastructure of service centers, parts, and fleet software that builds a real moat. Fleet managers won't switch to unproven rivals without a big reason, so undercutting Pro means rebuilding that whole ecosystem. Even in a weak quarter dragged down by a plant fire, Pro posted a 9.7% EBIT margin, roughly double Ford Blue's 4.4%.
The second leg is the shift to higher-margin, recurring revenue. Ford Pro paid subscriptions hit 1.6 million in Q2 2026, up 50% year over year, and BlueCruise ******* isted-driving now makes up half of retail services revenue. Software margins beat metal by a wide gap, and if Ford hits its target of 8% margins on services by 2029, that flywheel starts to move the whole company.

When Jacoby Brissett returned to full practice reps earlier this week, following the conclusion of his contract negotiation saga, he immediately elevated the first-team offense. Head coach Mike LaFleur even acknowledged that practice on Friday, July 31 was the best that his group has looked since training camp began.
But two days later, Brissett and the Cardinals' offense took a step backward.
Most notably, Brissett finished the day with two interceptions. Both resulted from poor reads. On the first, he threw directly at cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting, who undercut an out route from Michael Wilson. On the second, he never saw linebacker Cody Simon gaining depth in the flat, where he stepped in front of Marvin Harrison Jr. on another out route.
With Brissett struggling, Harrison finished the day without a single catch on just one target. Wilson caught one ball on his two targets. The lone bright spot for the starting offense was Trey McBride, who caught all six of his targets, including a touchdown during red zone work.
The biggest silver lining, though, came from the backups. Carson Beck had his best day of training camp, with a few standout throws. On one, he layered a perfect pass over a linebacker to hit Simi Fehoko over the middle. On the very next play, he stepped through a muddled pocket to find Xavier Weaver for a touchdown. Later, he went back to Weaver on the goal line, with a well-placed ball where only Weaver could catch it.

DENVER (AP) — A federal court dealt a perhaps chaos-inducing blow to the NCAA's new eligibility rule Friday when it ruled that all high school class of 2022 athletes who exhausted their fourth season of college eligibility this spring are eligible for a fifth season this school year.
The ruling from U.S. District Judge Charlotte Sweeney in Denver, expected to be appealed, undercuts the NCAA's plan to have the so-called "five for five" rule go into play starting with athletes who enroll in college in fall 2027.
It also has potential to wreak havoc on rosters across the country — for instance, opening the possibility that an undrafted player in an NFL training camp could decide to try to head back to college for a fifth year this upcoming season.
In granting the preliminary injunction, Sweeney said the players "will suffer irreparable harm without" it. She did not sign onto the governing body's argument that applying the new rule retroactively would create "roster chaos."
But NCAA President Charlie Baker said it would in responding to the rulings while referencing a bill in Congress designed to provide the NCAA antitrust protection on the eligibility issues.

Bengen's 2025 research drops the safe withdrawal rate to 4.2% for a 50-year retirement, undercutting the standard 4% rule for anyone retiring at 55.
Retiring at 55 forces a full decade of self-funded healthcare before Medicare at 65, a cost the original 4% rule never accounted for.
BLS data shows household spending peaks between ages 45 and 54, meaning early retirees exit income at their highest-spending years, not during natural tapering.
Don't wait: the ******* yst who called NVIDIA in 2010 just revealed his top 10 AI stocks. See the full list FREE now.
The 4% withdrawal rule has been a fixture of retirement planning for three decades and for good reason. It is simple, intuitive, and, for the right retiree, it can and has worked well. The challenge is that it was never designed for someone who would stop working at 55.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said American companies should be free to use Chinese open-source artificial intelligence models, positioning himself against Trump administration officials and U.S. AI labs that have sought to restrict them.
"These Chinese models are excellent," Huang told Axios on Tuesday. "Open-source models that are excellent should be used." He said companies should "absolutely" be allowed to use them.
The remarks came as the release of Kimi K3, a model from Beijing-based Moonshot AI that combines near-frontier performance, lower prices, and open weights, has rattled chip and AI stocks, reviving concerns that cheaper models could undercut the case for large AI infrastructure spending. Huang argued Wall Street has the situation backward. "Free AI should be great for hardware," he said. "Free AI should be great for chips. Free AI should be great for data centers." Cheaper and more accessible models draw more people into AI ecosystems, he argued, and that broader adoption ultimately drives up demand for the chips and data centers that Nvidia provides.
Huang also rejected the argument that downloaded Chinese models create a security backdoor to Beijing. Companies can customize those models and run them inside secure environments, he said, and openness makes AI more secure because outside researchers can inspect models and identify weaknesses. "If everything just becomes one single model, one single point of attack, one single source of failure, I think the world is much, much more vulnerable," he said.
His comments came hours after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told Fox Business that the administration is examining Chinese AI models for evidence of stolen U.S. intellectual property and considering sanctions. "If we see ... that overseas models are stealing from our great companies, we have the ability to sanction them because of this theft," Bessent said, according to Axios. Huang said companies should still face consequences for violating privacy or contracts, but he argued the response should target misconduct, not the models themselves. "Distillation, learning from AI, learning from other sources of knowledge, is fundamental to intelligence," he said.

July 16 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump renewed his campaign to cast doubt on U.S. elections on Thursday, declassifying intelligence he said exposed fraud and foreign interference despite intelligence findings and independent studies that undercut several of his claims.
Trump has ***** erted that the 2020 elections were "rigged" more than 100 times over the first half of 2026, and has used those claims to push for Congress to pass a restrictive voter ID law called the SAVE America Act, which would impose strict ID requirements on voters, and seek greater federal intervention in elections.
The SAVE America Act has passed the Republican-controlled U.S. House of Representatives several times with a simple majority, but it does not have the 60 votes to overcome a filibuster in the Republican-led Senate.
Trump, a Republican, said the White House was releasing a trove of classified documents that he said exposed vulnerabilities in U.S. election systems, including claims that:

JNJ's 23x forward P/E for double-digit oncology growth undercuts KO's 26x multiple, making JNJ the stronger risk-reward defensive anchor right now.
KO's 12% revenue surge masks thin fundamentals, given that only 3% volume growth means most gains came from pricing that could reverse.
Polymarket traders price a 92% chance JNJ beats its next earnings, fueled by DARZALEX and TREMFYA absorbing STELARA's biosimilar erosion.
This lithium producer surpassed a $1B private valuation, joining some of America's most powerful startups. Now you can invest in EnergyX alongside global giants like General Motors, but only through July 16. (sponsor)
Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) and Coca-Cola (NYSE:KO) both delivered Q1 2026 beats and both are being crowded into by capital rotating out of tech. JNJ has broken out past $259, while KO just tagged an all-time high near $84.14. That backdrop makes this a real premium-defensive showdown.

A federal appeals court on Thursday upheld an Illinois ban on semiautomatic weapons, keeping in place a law passed largely in response to a deadly Independence Day parade shooting.
The ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit overturns a lower court decision that found the ban unconstitutional. The 2-1 appellate decision found that the Illinois law does not violate the Second Amendment, and its restrictions are "consistent with the principles that underpin our Nation's tradition of firearm regulation."
"Whether to adopt them is thus a decision reposed in our elected representatives, and we reverse," the appeals court said.
The majority opinion also pushes back on claims made by the plaintiffs that semiautomatic weapons are not at fault for mass shootings.
"The undisputed record evidence undercuts that claim, showing that the presence of ******* ault weapons and large-capacity magazines is strongly correlated with the severity of the societal problem," the opinion states.

Big Cap 20 component Arista Networks (ANET) is still forming a long handle, as shares trade just below a proper buy point. Arista stock is also part of the No. 9-ranked computer networking industry group, which indicates leadership.
Shares of the cloud networking products manufacturer traded close to a 177.48 proper entry from a cup-with-handle base on a daily chart on June 22 before reversing lower. In the days following, shares have gone back and forth, trading around the 50-day line.
As Arista stock undercut this level once again in Thursday's action, investors should watch closely. Failing to hold support here could signal a more bearish move to the downside.
On the weekly chart, shares are still holding slightly above their 10-week line, according to MarketSurge pattern recognition. The buy point here is 179.80.
Arista stock's relative strength line has drifted sideways since August as shares formed multiple consolidations and failed to fully break out. But a Relative Strength Rating of 83 shows there's still some room for improvement here.

Riq Woolen emerging as Eagles' biggest offseason standout originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Philadelphia Eagles may have made one of the NFL's most underrated offseason additions, and cornerback Riq Woolen is already proving why.
No Eagles player generated more buzz during organized team activities and mandatory minicamp than the former Seattle Seahawks standout. Woolen consistently showcased the rare combination of size, speed, and athleticism that made him one of the league's breakout defensive backs early in his career, drawing rave reviews from teammates and coaches alike.
He closed minicamp with a highlight-reel play, undercutting a pass intended for tight end Dallas Goedert before intercepting the ball and racing the other direction, punctuating an outstanding spring and further reinforcing why the Eagles targeted him in free agency.
"Unique skill set. Very long and explosive and fast. Just watching him get in and out of breaks is crazy to see," defensive back Cooper DeJean said. "How explosive he is and how he can catch up to routes when guys are getting out of their breaks. It will be fun to watch this year."

The dollar index (DXY00) today is up by +0.21%. The dollar is moving higher on month- and quarter-end demand, with today being the last trading day of Q2. Also, today's decline in the yen to a 39-year low is supportive for the dollar. In addition, today's weaker-than-expected German June CPI report is dovish for ECB policy and is undercutting the euro, favoring the dollar. Today's US economic news is mixed for the dollar, with the May JOLTS job openings unexpectedly rising to a 2-year high, but the June Conference Board consumer confidence index rising less than expected.
The US Apr S&P Cotality composite-20 home price index rose +1.14% y/y, stronger than expectations of +0.90% y/y.

Riq Woolen arrived in Philadelphia with the physical traits to change the look of the Eagles' secondary, and his offseason work has already made him one of the more intriguing players entering training camp.
ESPN's Tim McManus named Woolen the Eagles' biggest surprise player of the offseason in a 2026 NFL offseason breakdown, pointing to the veteran cornerback's strong early impression after signing a one-year deal worth up to $15 million. Philadelphia added Woolen to solidify the cornerback spot opposite Quinyon Mitchell, and the move gives the Eagles one of the league's most physically imposing cornerback pairings.
The Eagles signed Woolen to a one-year deal worth up to $15 million this offseason to solidify the corner spot opposite Quinyon Mitchell. He has opened some eyes with his unique blend of size (6-foot-4, 210 pounds), speed and coverage skills. The highlight was an interception of a Jalen Hurts throw during minicamp when he anticipated a throw to tight end Dallas Goedert, undercut the route and sped the other way with the pick.
Philadelphia already had a strong defensive back foundation with Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, Andrew Mukuba, and several versatile pieces, but Woolen brings a different profile on the outside. His length can disrupt throwing windows, his recovery speed can erase separation, and his frame gives the Eagles another option against bigger receivers.
These early moments matter because Philadelphia is trying to build a secondary that can be both deep and flexible. Mitchell is already a high-level outside cornerback, while DeJean can affect the game from the slot, outside, or even with safety responsibilities in certain packages. Woolen's emergence would allow the Eagles to keep Mitchell in his role, move DeJean around as needed, and create more difficult matchups for opposing quarterbacks.

Anton De Pasquale has given Chevrolet and Team 18 their second win of the 2026 Supercars season with a convincing victory in the third and final race at Hidden Valley.
After starting from third on the grid, De Pasquale made his first of two pit stops earlier than the other race contenders, undercutting the pole-winning Tickford Ford Mustang of Cam Waters, and even a longer, second pit stop could not prevent De Pasquale from speeding to a winning margin of 1.4298 seconds in a race that finished behind the safety car due to a late problem further back in the field.
Grove Racing's Matt Payne had to twice come from behind to pass Waters on the track, due to a sticking wheel during his second pit stop, and his pursuit of De Pasquale was not aided by instructions from his team to conserve fuel. Payne maintained the gap over the closing laps but even as the leading pair sped away from the opposition, he was never in position to challenge for the win.
“We won it in the pits, which was awesome. The boys stepped up when they had to and the car looked after its tyres,” said De Pasquale after taking his first win since the opening round of the season at Sydney Motorsport Park.
“We are on our own development path and we know where we want to go. You cannot make big gains overnight.

Peter Schiff has once again criticized Strategy’s Bitcoin-heavy corporate approach, raising fresh questions about whether the company’s performance would even qualify it for inclusion in the S&P 500.
In a post on X, the economist argued that if Strategy were part of the benchmark index, its 47.5% decline in 2025 would place it among the worst performers of the year.
Schiff said the company’s aggressive Bitcoin accumulation has come at the expense of shareholders, adding that Strategy’s stock collapse undercuts claims that buying Bitcoin is the best possible corporate strategy.
