Dow Jones futures will open Sunday evening, along with S&P 500 futures and Nasdaq futures.
The stock market was mixed, with the 10-year Treasury yield at 5%. The Nasdaq rose modestly, amid continued sector rotations among growth stocks. The S&P 500 largely held its ground but the Dow Jones and small-cap Russell 2000 fell solidly to three-month lows.
Robinhood Markets (HOOD) surged back into a buy zone Friday as part of bullish upside reversal for bitcoin and other crypto plays. Coinbase Global (COIN) flashed an aggressive entry. The iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) also is actionable.
Sandisk (SNDK) and Moderna (MRNA), the top S&P 500 performers so far this year, are in buy areas as well. So is Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), another top-10 S&P 500 stock.
Robinhood stock is on SwingTrader. AMD stock is on the IBD 50.

A 2022 Nasdaq crash turned $10,000 into just $2,100 with TQQQ but preserved $3,900 with QLD's lower 2x leverage.
Recovering from TQQQ's 79% loss requires a 376% gain just to break even, making the extra leverage a costly bet.
QLD's 5-year annualized return of 17% beat TQQQ's 15% as volatility drag quietly eroded the extra leverage's advantage.
Just released. Our ****** ysts combed the entire stock market and named the ten best stocks to buy right now. The report is free. Enter your email and see if any of your stocks made the cut.
Leveraged ETFs have become an increasingly popular way to participate in the recent AI-driven technology boom. One such fund favored by investors and traders alike is the ProShares UltraPro QQQ (NASDAQ:TQQQ), an ETF that targets three times the Nasdaq's daily return. For investors who are uncomfortable with the 3x target, the ProShares Ultra QQQ (NYSEARCA:QLD) offers similar exposure but targets 2x the Nasdaq-100's daily move. When the Nasdaq is advancing higher, TQQQ seems like the obvious choice, but during a serious selloff, the reduced leverage of QLD can dramatically change the amount of capital left standing when the decline is over.

The FOMC began a new interest rate cycle, raising the federal funds rate a quarter point on Sept. 16. Wall Street traders expect at least one more rate increase before the end of 2026.
The federal funds rate. The Fed. The FOMC. No doubt you've heard and read these terms before. But what do they mean? How does this impact your financial life?
The federal funds rate is the interest rate the government sets for one bank to charge another bank for ultra-short-term loans, usually just overnight. It's actually an interest rate range. Banks negotiate a specific rate with each other within that range set by the Federal Reserve.
The current federal funds rate is now 3.75% to 4.00%.

US stocks were mixed on Friday as investors continued to calibrate to the Federal Reserve's first rate hike in three years and existential fears about artificial intelligence's capabilities.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite (^IXIC) rose 0.4% but ended the week in green. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 (^GSPC) rose 0.2% but eked out a loss for the week. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (^DJI) was down 0.2% and lost more than 1.5% for the week.
The 10-year Treasury yield (^TNX) rose 5 basis points to hover near the 5% level as traders increased bets that the Fed will raise rates again in October.
Markets appeared to look past the Fed's 25 basis point rate hike this week, which was widely expected. US stock continued to climb after the Bank of ***** an raised interest rates to the highest level in 31 years.
However, ***** ysts and top CEOs aren't convinced that one rate hike (by the Fed) will be enough to bring down stubbornly high inflation. "It's not clear to me we've slayed inflation," JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon told Yahoo Finance this week.

The Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH) cryptocurrency is up 5.8% at 2:17 p.m. ET, floating atop a broad surge across the crypto sector. It's the kind of day where you almost expect stablecoins to rise, as the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) moved one step closer to permitting token-based trading of stock-type securities.
And Ethereum would benefit directly if tokenized stocks ever get the SEC's final stamp of approval. The news is a day old, but traders needed time to process the situation after a tumultuous week in which the Clarity Act failed to move forward.
Missed AI's "Act 1"? Act 2 Could Be 15x Bigger. Most investors think they missed the AI boat because they didn't buy Nvidia in 2005. But according to our **** ysts, we're only at the end of "Act 1"—the R&D phase. "Act 2" is the global rollout. Continue »
The SEC is allowing a new kind of venue to trade blockchain versions of regularly listed stocks without first registering as a stock exchange. It's temporary, it's capped, and it comes with strings attached.
This isn't retail investors buying tokenized stocks on a public blockchain tomorrow. It's explicitly a placeholder for further announcements. The tokenized securities venue (TSV) designation is essentially a bold but limited experiment.

Coinbase Global (NASDAQ: $COIN) has filed for regulatory approval to list perpetual futures tied to individual large-cap U.S. stocks, opening the door to 24/7 leveraged trading of shares such as Apple, Microsoft, Tesla and Nvidia on a regulated U.S. platform.
The exchange plans to offer contracts linked to roughly 50 to 60 major stocks, with trading potentially starting later this year if regulators approve the products, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Perpetual futures, commonly known as perps, are derivatives that do not have an expiration date. Traders can keep positions open indefinitely, while leverage can magnify both gains and losses.

Happy Friday, traders. Welcome to our weekly market wrap, where we take a look back at these last five trading days with a focus on the market news, economic data, and headlines that had the most impact on gold prices and other key correlated ****** ets—and may continue to in the future.
So, what kind of week has it been?
Gold took a more volatile path than expected but rebounded from a post-FOMC low near $4,260/oz to trade just above $4,350/oz shortly after the US market open on Friday, putting the yellow metal in position for a moderate weekly gain.
The Federal Reserve delivered the week's main event on Wednesday, unanimously raising policy rates by 25 basis points. Gold's sharp initial drop appeared tied less to the hike itself than to projections showing elevated inflation expectations and another 25-basis-point increase before the end of 2026.
Thursday brought the countermove as crude oil slid back toward and then below $100 per barrel, US Treasury yields eased, and gold recovered to around $4,360/oz. The Bank of ****** an's overnight rate hike to 1.25% added another tailwind into Friday.

Bitcoin's most violent rally of its two-year drawdown wasn't powered by fresh bullish bets. It was powered by bears getting crushed, according to a new report from ******* ytics firm Glassnode and crypto exchange Bybit.
Over five days in August, Bitcoin climbed 24.6% even as coin-denominated open interest, a measure of active leverage, fell 12.6%, the report found. That combination is the tell: rather than traders piling into new long positions, the move ran on the forced unwinding of existing shorts.
Roughly 64,000 BTC worth of open interest was closed out, and short positions supplied 89% of every liquidated dollar during the stretch.
The options market told the same story. Puts, the contracts traders buy to protect against a fall, had priced richer than calls for 361 straight days. A single session ended that run, flipping roughly a year of downside positioning as the market scrambled to reprice.
Bybit's own volatility index traveled four times its normal daily range in one session, and the front of the futures curve repriced sharply while longer-dated contracts barely moved, a sign the market read the move as a one-off event rather than a lasting regime change.

Zcash (ZEC) has climbed 177.8% in a month, and the traders betting against it are paying for that move.
One short was closed at a $10.68 million loss this week, and the largest position still open sits $33.87 million underwater on Hyperliquid.
Lookonchain flagged the closed trade before the exit, citing 26 consecutive wins and an 89% rate across 47 trades. That record had produced more than $9 million in profit.
The short covered 12,285 ZEC and was worth $18.31 million earlier, with liquidation set at $1,550.66. Hyperliquid data shows the account now holds no positions at all.
Garrett Jin holds the largest short still open, covering 37,999 ZEC worth $59.37 million. He built the position at an average price of $671.05, so it now shows an unrealized loss of $33.87 million.

After a spectacular August rally that saw it soar 25% in a single month, there's newfound optimism among many crypto investors that Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) could reclaim the $100,000 price level by the end of the year.
But just how likely is that? As it turns out, one key factor could determine where Bitcoin heads next.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
Let's be clear from the outset: The odds are not in Bitcoin's favor right now. Even at its current price of $76,500, Bitcoin faces a steep uphill battle to get to $100,000 in 2026.
On the Kalshi prediction market, for example, traders give Bitcoin a 4% chance of hitting $100,000 by November, an 11% chance by December, and a 16% chance by January 2027.

Bettors on Polymarket, the cryptocurrency-based prediction market, put the chance of Bitcoin dropping to $75,000 before the end of September at about 51%.
The same market gives the world's largest cryptocurrency a 70% chance of climbing back to $80,000 within the month, pointing to a choppy few weeks rather than a clear trend.
Bitcoin was trading just below $77,000 on Friday, down more than a third from the record high near $126,000 it set last October.
The wagering reflects a bruising September, a month traders nickname "Rektember" for its habit of delivering losses.
Prices have fallen steadily since 4 September, slipping below $80,000 and then $76,000 as investors braced for tighter monetary policy.

An anonymous trader known only by their wallet address 0x3bca had their $7.19 million short position on the S&P 500 fully liquidated on Hyperliquid as the broader market rebounded on Wednesday. The liquidation was tracked via onchain data on Hypurrscan.
A short position is a trade that profits when an ***** et's price falls. The trader was betting the S&P 500 would decline, and when it moved in the opposite direction, the position was forcibly closed at a loss.

Liquidation happens when a leveraged trade moves far enough against the trader that the exchange automatically closes it to prevent further losses. Hyperliquid is a decentralized exchange that lets users trade perpetual contracts, derivatives that track an ***** et's price without an expiration date, on crypto, equities and commodities.
The Hypurrscan data shows the wallet held a total portfolio value of roughly $7.85 million at the time, with exposure to S&P 500, XYZ100, BTC and gold contracts. The transaction history reveals a flurry of activity in the seconds surrounding the liquidation, including multiple "Close Long" orders on Robinhood stock (xyz:HOOD) at $109.48 and fresh "Open Long" positions on BTC at approximately $76,568.

BitMEX has settled and delisted XBTUSD, ending one of the most influential trades in crypto history. The Bitcoin contract ran for more than 10 years and became the template for the perpetual futures market that dominates crypto trading today.
BitMEX itself will shut down on September 23. Yet the product it created is everywhere.
XBTUSD launched on May 13, 2016. It allowed traders to bet on Bitcoin without an expiry date.
Traditional futures expire on fixed dates. XBTUSD did not. That kept traders in one continuous market instead of splitting liquidity between different contracts.
BitMEX also introduced a funding system to keep the contract close to Bitcoin's spot price. When too many traders crowded onto one side, they paid the other side.

Polymarket has hired Jacob Horne, the co-founder of Zora, the app behind Coinbase's failed creator-coin experiment, to rebuild its onchain trading product. Chief executive Shayne Coplan announced the move Thursday.
Horne left Zora eight days ago after more than six years running it. His new job sets him against Kalshi, the exchange that now powers Coinbase's own prediction markets across the United States.
Polymarket runs two venues:
Traders outside the US use a market that settles on the Polygon blockchain, a corner of the industry known as Decentralized Finance (DeFi).
Americans use a separate exchange licensed by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

Teck Resources Ltd (NYSE:TECK) stock's pullback from its Sept. 8 record high of $72.56 has found support at the 60-, 80-, and 100-day moving averages. The 100-day trendline in particular is a historically bullish signal that presents an intriguing 'buy the dip' angle.
Per Schaeffer's Senior Quantitative ******* yst Rocky White, TECK has traded within 0.75 times the 100-day moving average's 20-day average true range (ATR) after spending at least 80% of the previous two weeks and 80% of the prior 42 trading sessions above the trendline. This setup has occurred eight other times over the last decade, after which the stock was higher one month later 75% of the time, averaging a large 13.8% gain.
Short interest accounts for a healthy 7.5% of the stock's available float, leaving ample sideline buying power should some of these bearish bets begin to unwind. TECK's 14-day Relative Strength Index (RSI) of 28.4 also sits in "oversold" territory, which often precedes a short-term bounce.
Plus, TECK's Schaeffer's Volatility Scorecard (SVS) sits at 81 out of 100, suggesting the shares have tended to outperform options traders' volatility expectations during the past year.

Arista Networks (ANET) is a highly rated stock that is holding up well during the recent market weakness. Income investors who want to generate some option premium on Arista stock could look at a covered call trade.
A covered-call strategy is one way to slightly reduce the risk on a long stock position while also generating some option premium. The catch: a limited upside above the covered-call strike.
Let's look at how a covered-call trade on Arista might take shape.
Buying 100 shares of Arista Networks would cost around $19,800. An Oct. 16, 200-strike call option is trading around $10.25 a share, generating $1,025 in option premium per contract. Selling the call option generates an income of 5.2% in one month, equaling around 61% annualized.
If Arista Networks stock closes above 200 on the expiration date, the shares will be called away at 200, leaving the trader with a total profit of $1,225. That counts as the $200 gain on shares plus the $1,025 option premium received.

"I am the house now," Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told traders last week, as he defended the administration's increasingly interventionist approach to the bond market. He added that he had "asymmetric information" about what policymakers would do next and dared investors: "bet against me if you want."
On Wednesday, Federal Reserve chair Kevin Warsh might effectively take the other side of the bet.
It's been a hot American summer. Oil is hot, hovering around $110 a barrel. Bond yields are hot, too: the 10-year Treasury yield has pushed above 5%, around its highest level since 2007. Credit markets are running hot as well: U.S.-dollar debt issuance to finance AI and data-center development reached $308 billion through July. And all that borrowing is competing with U.S. national debt, which crossed $40 trillion less than a month ago. Stocks, despite a rough few days, are still up roughly 11% this year. Inflation, meanwhile, remains above 3%.
Put all that heat together, and the Federal Reserve is staring down a question it hasn't seriously confronted in three years: Is the U.S. economy actually overheating? Markets are betting the Fed thinks the answer is at least "maybe." Traders have priced a quarter-point hike Wednesday with near certainty.
But whether Wednesday amounts to a one-time course correction or the beginning of a new tightening cycle depends on what, exactly, is making the American economy hot. The last time the Fed began raising rates, in March 2022, Jerome Powell's Fed ultimately raised its benchmark rate by 525 basis points over 16 months.
Mohamed El-Erian, Wharton professor of practice and chief economic adviser at Allianz, parsed the current fervor and anxiety into four questions on X Tuesday: whether oil-supply disruptions persist, with China potentially acting as a "swing consumer"; whether Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent intervenes again to influence long-end yields; whether this week's hike proves "one and done" or the beginning of a cycle; and how markets balance AI's enormous promise against its enormous risks.

A Federal Reserve rate hike is largely priced in for Wednesday, but JPMorgan says the S&P 500 could still swing anywhere from 1% higher to 2% lower depending on how Chair Kevin Warsh frames the move.
A surprise decision to hold rates steady could prove painful. JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM) estimates the index could fall 1.25% to 1.75% if the Fed leaves rates unchanged.
Polymarket traders put the chance of a 25-basis-point hike at 89% Wednesday morning, compared with 11% for no change, with roughly $193 million traded on the decision.
JPMorgan argues that an unexpected hold could raise doubts about the Fed's willingness to contain inflation, potentially pushing longer-term Treasury yields higher as investors demand more compensation for inflation risk.

The pre-market for Amazon looks a bit bullish, although I wouldn't call it overly bullish. We are in an area that should be interesting for technical traders, though, as the last earnings call produced a massive gap and we find ourselves at the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement level.
We are getting close to an oversold condition in the stochastic oscillator, and the 10-year yield is now at 5% again, so that has its own part to play here.
I do think we have a situation where traders continue to look at this as a potential value play, but it is also going to be heavily influenced by the U.S. consumer and how it is feeling. Interest rates rising and inflation rising are not good things, but so far it looks like we are at least finding some type of support.
Walmart is doing very little in pre-market trading. It is currently finding the 50-day EMA as a potential barrier, and as a result, it might be worth looking at this through the prism of whether or not we can get above there. We are in the overbought condition in the stochastic oscillator, so maybe a little bit more consolidation. That would not be overly surprising because after all, most of the day is going to be waiting around for the Federal Reserve interest rate decision, and perhaps more important than that will be the press conference.
Target looks as if it is going to basically open up where it closed during the previous session, which was pretty ugly for Target. We are sitting just above the 50-day EMA, and it is in a nice uptrend. We are oversold in the stochastic oscillator now, so I'll be looking for some type of bounce.

Stock futures are higher after two days of losses for major indexes as traders await the Federal Reserve's decision on interest rates; the Fed is widely expected to raise its benchmark interest rate for the first time in three years to tame inflation; the European Union could add Canada as an "associate member" amid the country's growing trade war with the Trump administration; shares of SK Hynix and Intel are climbing following a report that the companies could partner to build chips in the U.S.; and retail sales data is due this morning. Here's what you need to know today.
Stock futures are rising this morning ahead of the highly anticipated Federal Reserve decision on interest rates. Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 futures were each up 0.3% in recent trading while futures tracking the tech-heavy Nasdaq added 0.6%. The major indexes fell Tuesday for the second straight session as oil prices and government bond yields rose. WTI crude oil futures were recently down more more than 2% at $103.50 per barrel after hitting a fresh four-month high yesterday. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note was at 4.97%, after jumping as high as 5.04% in yesterday's session, the highest point since the financial crisis of 2007. Bitcoin was holding steady at $76,100, after the cryptocurrency slumped yesterday as the Clarity Act failed to pass through a cloture vote in the Senate. Gold futures were up 1% to $4,390 an ounce.
The Federal Reserve's policy committee will wrap up its two-day meeting this afternoon amid expectations that the central bank will hike its benchmark rate for the first time in three years to address mounting inflationary pressure. The Federal Open Market Committee's decision is scheduled to be released at 2:00 p.m. ET, along with quarterly economic projections from FOMC members. Fed Chair Kevin Warsh, who took over the top position in May, has said repeatedly the Fed is squarely focussed on bringing inflation down to the Fed's target. Recent inflation data has confirmed that price pressures persist as oil prices rise owing to the Iran war. Investors will be looking for additional insights from Warsh, who is scheduled to speak at a press conference half an hour after the decision is announced. A rate hike is meant to raise borrowing costs, slowing economic activity such that inflation moderates. The challenge the Fed faces is that it can't address the underlying causes of the inflation, including the Iran war, tariffs and rampant corporate spending on AI.

Some refiners in ******* an this week rushed to buy Oman's crude for earlier loadings after Saudi Arabia shut down its key pipeline bypassing the Strait of Hormuz, traders with knowledge of the purchases told Bloomberg on Wednesday.
Late last week, Saudi Arabia was forced to temporarily shut down the East-West oil pipeline following drone attacks launched from the territory of Iraq close to the Iranian border on Thursday. The shutdown of the pipeline is a precautionary measure, after the attacks resulted in a number of injuries, the world's top crude oil exporter said.
The 750-mile-long East-West pipeline became Saudi Arabia's vital oil route to bypass the Strait of Hormuz after the Middle East conflict started and Hormuz was closed to shipping traffic. Thanks to the East-West pipeline, the Kingdom has managed to re-route most of its crude loadings from the western ports in the Persian Gulf to the Red Sea port of Yanbu.
Apart from announcing the shutdown of the pipeline and condemning the attacks, Saudi Arabia has not officially updated the market either on the extent of the damage or the timelines for repairs.
The repairs could take three to five weeks, two regional officials briefed on the matter told The ******* ociated Press.

US stocks fell for a second day in a row on Tuesday as investors braced for the Federal Reserve's interest rate decision on Wednesday and monitored the fallout from Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei's essay on AI safety fears.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite (^IXIC) declined 0.8% while the Dow Jones Industrial Average (^DJI) dropped 0.7%. The S&P 500 (^GSPC) tumbled more than 0.4%.
Oil prices ticked back up, with Brent crude (BZ=F) and WTI crude (CL=F) changing hands at $108 and $105 per barrel, respectively. Prices have remained elevated since Saudi Arabia shuttered its East-West pipeline and the Iranian-backed Houthis launched fresh attacks in the Middle East.
Bond yields have also shot up as investors await the next Fed policy decision. The yield on the 10-year note (^TNX) hovered around 5%. The move follows the key interest rate briefly rising overnight to its highest intraday level since 2007, underscoring concerns about rising borrowing costs, global deficits, and inflation.
The Federal Open Market Committee began its September meeting on Tuesday, with traders overwhelmingly expecting a rate hike. The release of the so-called dot plot, along with Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh's press conference, could offer investors clues about the prevailing winds in the Fed's monetary policy.

Bond traders are pricing in a Federal Reserve interest-rate hike Wednesday with a level of conviction that has proven right for decades. Interest-rate swaps tied to Fed meeting dates show traders see more than a 90% chance that Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh and his colleagues will lift the benchmark policy rate by a quarter point from the current 3.5%-3.75% range. That equates to roughly 23 basis points of tightening priced in. Kitty Richards Senior Fellow at the Groundwork Collaborative joined Balance of Power saying it will be difficult for the Fed to not raise rates.

In XRP news today, its 30-day liquidity index on Binance has climbed to 0.0675, the highest reading in about six months. Its 30-day turnover recovered to approximately $4.6 billion after sinking to between $2 billion and $3 billion during July and August.
The rebound signals that XRP liquidity conditions have meaningfully improved, but a deeper order book supports both accumulation and distribution equally well, and is leaving the question of which side actually controls this market unanswered.
The liquidity index measures how easily traders can move XRP in and out of positions without moving the price against themselves, calculated against how quickly XRP turns over relative to what Binance holds on its books. A rising reading means faster turnover and tighter execution, which is exactly what the data shows.
XRP closed August up about 28.5%, its strongest August performance since 2021, while U.S. spot XRP ETF products pulled in $153.55 million of inflows that month.
Now, the flow data from the end of last week complicates a clean bullish read. More than 91 million XRP moved into Binance on the 11th, and over 113 million XRP moved out, both six-month highs in single-day volume. Withdrawals outpaced deposits by 22.7 million XRP, yet Binance's total XRP holdings rose just 0.43% over the full week.

Two former Robinhood engineers allegedly used confidential information about upcoming cryptocurrency listings to make profitable trades on decentralized exchange Hyperliquid, federal prosecutors said Tuesday.
Hefu Chai, 36, and Huaisong "Jerry" Xiang, 30, each face one count of commodities fraud and one count of wire fraud.
"Today's charges make clear that corporate insiders cannot evade the securities and commodities laws by trading based on misappropriated information in derivatives like perpetual futures, tokenized securities, or other similar financial instruments," U.S. Attorney Jamie McDonald said in a statement.
Perpetual futures, or "perps," let traders speculate on an **** et's price—often with leverage—without owning it. Unlike conventional futures, the derivatives do not expire. Hyperliquid is one of the largest decentralized platforms for trading perps and has faced increased regulatory scrutiny.
According to the DOJ, the engineers allegedly used nonpublic information about upcoming Robinhood Crypto token listings to buy related perpetual futures before the announcements, earning profits "for their own benefit" between 2025 and 2026. Each defendant earned more than $50,000 from the alleged scheme, the Justice Department said.
