For the prestigious television event, Florence Pugh selected a custom lilac gown designed by legendary British fashion house Vivienne Westwood. The enchanting gown features a signature structured corset bodice that nips in tightly at the waist. Delicate, sheer lavender chiffon drapes loosely around the arms, slipping gracefully off the shoulders. The form-fitting skirt hugged her hips before cascading into a dramatic, sweeping train that glided across the floor.
The actress moved with pure grace while posing for the surrounding cameras. As showcased in a popular Instagram post, the gown features an alluring low-cut, backless design. She turned around sideways and glanced back over her shoulder, flashing a confident smile at photographers. The sheer off-the-shoulder sleeves fluttered softly as she walked down the event carpet, creating an ethereal fairytale effect under the bright venue lights.

Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr accused Democratic Texas Senate candidate James Talarico of banking on public confusion over the equal time statute to drive clicks and donations.
Last week, Talarico appeared on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," but the liberal late-night host insisted the interview had to air on YouTube, instead of broadcast television, because the FCC has "threatened" the network.
The White House previously said Kimmel was "play-acting," because the FCC did not threaten him regarding interviewing Talarico, or any other candidate.
Carr responded on Saturday to an account on X that complained Talarico was relegated to YouTube, but Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, was allowed to appear on ESPN's "College Gameday." The chairman blasted Talarico, noting that the equal time statute doesn't apply to ESPN and does not prohibit anyone from interviewing anyone on broadcast TV.

Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber marked eight years of marriage without a red carpet or elaborate anniversary shoot. Their celebration started around a pool table, with Justin sharing photographs of the two playing together on September 13.
"8 years until infinity ❤️ NEW BEGINNINGS ♾️ I love you baby Happy Anniversary," the 32-year-old singer wrote alongside the carousel, according to PEOPLE. Hailey reposted the tribute to her Instagram Stories with the words "8 years."
She also had a more playful response to the photographs. Hailey joked in the comments about spending eight years being "horrendous at playing pool," while the pictures showed her and Justin taking turns at the table and getting close for a near-kiss.
The Biebers kept the celebration going with another set of photographs shared later the same day.
Justin's first anniversary carousel focused almost entirely on the couple's game. Billboard reported that a Texas-Ohio State football game was visible on a television in the background.

"It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that Mr. Bob Mackie passed away today. He lived his 87 years to the fullest, fulfilling his dream of being a Fashion and Costume Designer, which is all he ever wanted to do," read a post on his Instagram account. "His genius and extraordinary designs will live on forever, continuing to bring beauty into this world."
Mackie became known for his glamorous designs after collaborating with Cher, dressing her on television and on tour. He also served as the costume designer for "The Carol Burnett Show," responsible for Burnett's entire wardrobe. Nicknamed the Sultan of Sequins, the Rajah of Rhinestones and the Guru of Glitter, Mackie's ostentatious, flattering looks became instantly recognizable over the course of his career. His popularity continued into the modern day, with his archive coveted by a new generation of stars.
For his stage and screen work, Mackie has been awarded nine Emmys, an induction into the Television Academy Hall of Fame and three Academy Award nominations. In 1999, he received a retrospective at the Museum at FIT. More recently, he won a Tony Award for the musical "The Cher Show" and a lifetime achievement award by the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

Bob Mackie, the Emmy- and Tony-winning fashion and costume designer whose glittering creations helped define the images of Cher, Carol Burnett, Diana Ross and countless other entertainers, died Sept. 14, 2026, at age 87.
In a statement posted by his team, Mackie's representatives said he "lived his 87 years to the fullest, fulfilling his dream of being a Fashion and Costume Designer." In recent years, Mackie made Palm Springs his home, moving to the desert in 2020. He became a familiar figure in the Coachella Valley arts community, participating in book signings, film festival events, and local cultural fundraisers.

NEW YORK (AP) — Bob Mackie, the fashion designer whose visually provocative Hollywood style defined glamour for the 1970s — including putting Carol Burnett in some of her kookiest getups and Cher in her raciest ones — died Monday. He was 87.
"He lived his 87 years to the fullest, fulfilling his dream of being a Fashion and Costume Designer, which is all he ever wanted to do," a read statement on his social media accounts. "His genius and extraordinary designs will live on forever, continuing to bring beauty into this world."
Dubbed the "Designer to the Stars," Mackie won nine Emmy Awards, a Tony Award and was nominated for three Oscars, including one for Barbra Streisand's "Funny Lady," in which she wore a sheer batwing gown. He was inducted into the Academy of Television Arts & Science's Hall of Fame in 2002.
He designed gowns for Madonna, Barbra Streisand, Sharon Stone, Diana Ross and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and concert costumes for Pink. When Marilyn Monroe delivered a breathy, seductive take on "Happy Birthday" at a fundraiser for President John F. Kennedy and the Democratic National Committee, she did it in a sheer, beaded gown that Mackie dreamed up in a sketch.
His influence can be seen in the styles of Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid. His archival pieces are worn today by the likes of Anya Taylor-Joy, Miley Cyrus and Zendaya, the latter who wore a Mackie gown to honor Cher at the 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. When Taylor Swift wanted to look like a showgirl on the cover of her 2025 album "The Life of a Showgirl," she turned to some Mackie originals.

Jean Smart could set a brand-new record at the 2026 Primetime Emmy Awards on September 14. If she wins in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Deborah Vance in the final season of Hacks, she'll be the first comedy lead actor to win for every season of a single television series.
Plus, the win would give her eight acting Emmys, which would tie the all-time record with Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Cloris Leachman.
With Smart back in the spotlight because of the awards show, we're taking a deep dive into her love life, including her current romance and her relationship with her late husband.
Smart is in a relationship with Joe Pacheco. While it's unclear exactly when they started dating, they made their red carpet debut at the 2024 Emmy Awards, then attended the Golden Globes together in 2025. Pacheco was once again Smart's date to the Emmys in 2025, Golden Globes 2026, and was by her side at the premiere for Hacks' final season in April.
The actress told CBS Mornings in June 2025 that she was dating a "wonderful actor." When she appeared on the Wiser Than Me podcast in May 2026, she called her boyfriend an "extremely lovely man" and said she met him at a friend's party.

A week after Nick Saban and Pat McAfee practically did an infomercial for the Protect College Sports Act during College GameDay, one of the bill's co-sponsors, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), was given the chance to make a full-throated defense of the bill and why it needed to be passed by the Senate and House, with Cruz previously saying that if passed, President Donald Trump would sign it into law on a future episode of ESPN's flagship college football show.
Even by the standards of College GameDay, which has been known to put its thumb on the scale when it wanted, this whole affair has been wildly inappropriate. It's one thing for Kirk Herbstreit to chastise football players for opting out of meaningless bowl games; it's another thing for the show to put its full weight behind a Congressional bill without providing ample time to those proponents and opponents, especially when those who oppose the bill do so on the grounds that it will negatively impact the earning ability of the athletes who make the sport work.
However, it helps you understand this all-out blitz when you realize where ESPN's parent company is putting its money.
Joedy McCreary at OpenSecrets recently laid out the fight surrounding the PCSA, spelling out which entities are pushing for it and which are pushing back.
Per McCreary, several major broadcasting and cable companies are putting their money where their mouth is. The National ****** ociation of Broadcasters (NAB) and NCTA – the Internet and Television ****** ociation lobbied for the legislation. Amazon, Paramount Skydance, and Disney (which owns ESPN) listed the college sports measure among the dozens of bills they worked on between April 1 and June 30.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., were lambasted Friday for appearing to share a moment of levity at the 9/11 Memorial in lower Manhattan during the solemn reading-of-the-names of victims.
Mamdani was already facing criticism from some 9/11 victims' families over his attendance when a television feed showing the reading of victims' names cut from a young man sobbing at the memorial to the mayor and congresswoman appearing to grin and laugh as they spoke, though their conversation was inaudible.
"Disgraceful," said Steve Guest, a former top staffer for Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas. "AOC and Mamdani look happy."

Legal representatives from Samsung are seeking the dismissal of Dua Lipa's $15 million lawsuit over the unauthorized use of her image on a product box. In a new Thursday filing obtained by Rolling Stone, the company argues that the singer does not have grounds to sue because there's "nothing suggesting plaintiff endorses the televisions."
"The images merely depict the televisions' on-screen interface, illustrating the applications and … an example of content available on the TV," lawyers for Samsung said. The relevant products contain a photo of Lipa on boxes for televisions featuring Samsung TV Plus, where the singer is used to promote the Xite Hits channel. Other logos that appear on the product include MLB, Fox Sports, and the crime series The First 48.

Kelly Osbourne loves her mother, but she is not pretending they agree on everything.
Asked directly about Sharon Osbourne's support for British activist Tommy Robinson during an interview with Attitude at London's National Television Awards, Kelly gave an equally direct answer: "I don't agree with my mum, no."
Kelly acknowledged that political disagreements can be uncomfortable inside a family. She said Sharon is entitled to her own opinions, but made clear that her mother's position is "not for me."
The conversation then moved beyond Robinson to Kelly's relationship with the LGBTQ+ community and her mother's views on trans issues. Kelly credited drag queens with teaching her makeup, the trans community with teaching her about bravery and RuPaul's Drag Race with influencing how she presents herself.
The issue Attitude put to Kelly dates back to April, when Sharon's official Instagram account commented "See you at the march" beneath a video promoting Robinson's Unite the Kingdom event in London.

Egyptian television presenter Sarah Khalifa has been sentenced to death, but the Sept. 5 judgment does not end her legal fight.
A Cairo Criminal Court sentenced the 39-year-old presenter and 11 other defendants to death after convicting them in a major synthetic-drug manufacturing and trafficking case. Prosecutors had charged 28 people in connection with the alleged network.
Khalifa has repeatedly denied involvement. Her lawyer, Mohamed El-Gendy, now says she is expected to sign appeal papers Tuesday, Sept. 15, beginning another stage in a case that has drawn attention far beyond Egypt.
Egypt changed its felony appeals system in 2024. A Felony Appeals Court can reconsider the evidence, the prosecution's case and the role attributed to each defendant before a death sentence becomes final.
The Cairo Criminal Court convicted Khalifa and 11 co-defendants of participating in an organized criminal group involved in obtaining materials used to manufacture synthetic narcotics for trafficking.

I have spent much of this week watching Australian coverage of the NFL and scrolling through social media posts as the 49ers and Rams prepare to play the first regular-season game in Australia. The coverage has been entertaining, enthusiastic and occasionally educational. There have been explanations of the rules, breakdowns of the equipment and attempts to introduce American football to a country that already has a sport called football.
The Aussies are excited. Nearly 100,000 people are expected to fill the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Moreover, the NFL has taken over the city. The Jonas Brothers will perform at halftime, and Tourism Australia has built an advertising campaign around the game featuring wildlife conservationist and television personality Robert Irwin. He's the son of the late "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin. In addition, Netflix will distribute the game globally.
It should be a spectacular event. I'm just not convinced it proves football has become a global sport.
This season, the NFL is staging nine regular-season games in seven countries outside the United States. That represents an extraordinary expansion from the occasional London game of the past. The league is no longer simply testing international markets. Moreover, overseas games have become an important part of its schedule, television strategy and marketing machine.
However, more games in more countries don't automatically mean football has developed deep roots in those places.

LAS VEGAS — When the Golden Knights traded Pavel Dorofeyev to the New York Rangers back on June 26, general manager Kelly McCrimmon knew he had to find a way to replace the 37 goals Dorofeyev scored for Vegas last season.

In signing Braeden Bowman to a six-year contract extension, McCrimmon is betting that Bowman can fill some of the void.

Bowman's deal, which kicks in for the 2027-28 season and runs through 2033 has an average annual value of $3.4 million. He's scheduled to make $875,000 this coming season in the second year of his recent two-year deal.

It seems like a lot of money for someone with limited NHL experience. But the Knights like what the 6-foot-1, 205-pound 23-year-old winger gives them — a big, physical net presence with a scorer's touch. And if Bowman develops as McCrimmon hopes, that $3.4 million could look like a bargain down the road.

Bowman split time between the Golden Knights and the Henderson Silver Knights last season. His NHL numbers were eight goals and 18 ***** ists in 54 games. In the AHL, he had better than a point a game with 12 goals and 14 ***** ists in 20 games.

More important, Bowman has played under Ryan Craig, who is now the Golden Knights' head coach. Craig knows Bowman from their time together in Henderson and he'll figure out where best to play him. When Bruce Cassidy was the coach, Bowman played up and down the lineup. With John Tortorella, Bowman only got into one game, that being Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final against Carolina.

"He's a great coach," Bowman told KTNV when asked about Craig while at the team's annual golf outing earlier this week at TPC Summerlin. "He's a great person, too. He's honest, fair — everything you want in a coach."

Bowman told the television station that he has spent the summer anticipating a larger role in the NHL and he wants to be ready.

"I just focused on getting bigger, stronger," Bowman said. "I want to make the jump and be a full-time guy, so get stronger, work on my speed and get my pace up."

Jennifer Garner fully understood the timeless appeal of a LBD when she graced the stage of Late Night with Conan O'Brien during the height of the Noughties.
The Elektra actress took to her Instagram Story on Tuesday to share a throwback video of her appearance on the hit talk show from 2003. Jennifer oozed elegance as she donned a black mini-dress that featured a plunging neckline adorned with a halterneck spaghetti-strap design. The simple garment was crafted from glossy silk and teamed with a pair of matching heels.
Jennifer's toasted almond locks were swept back into a braid while her makeup exuded soft glam with a brown smokey eye, a pinch of blush, and a glossy natural lip. The star opted for '90s minimalism as she refrained from wearing any jewelry.
While on the show, Jennifer playfully corrected the talk show host's grammar with a witty comeback. The duo discussed Jennifer's spy television series Alias and the sneaky skills she learnt from being on set.

Elversberg have two wins from two as they enjoy a dream start to their maiden Bundesliga campaign, but they will be without head coach Vincent Wagner for their Matchday 3 clash against reigning champions Bayern Munich after the DFB rejected the club's appeal following his sending off against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
A statement from the DFB read: "In its ruling, the DFB sports court stated that, according to the referee, coach Wagner had approached him from a considerable distance, even though the fourth official had previously instructed him to stop. Wagner intended to complain to the referee and confront him. This account, the sports court stated, is corroborated by the available television footage. Therefore, the sending off was a factual decision by the referee, which is generally binding on the sports court."
Additionally, the sports court found "no evidence of an obvious error by the referee". Therefore, as reported by Kicker, Wagner will only be able to watch the game from the stands.
Wagner's sending off for a second bookable offence came with two yellow cards in quick succession. The first, triggered by Hugo Bolin's goal that put Gladbach 2-1 ahead. Wagner's argument that Tim Kleindienst had put the ball out for a throw-in, which initiated the counter-attack leading up to the goal, and thus a throw-in should have been awarded to Elversberg instead. Then, Wagner attempted to speak to referee Petersen after he blew the half-time whistle but, already on a yellow for the previous complaint, was subsequently shown a second yellow card.

It's been a busy last twelve months for Craig Carton. Following the cancellation of his FS1 program, Breakfast Ball, in July, many speculated about where Carton's path would lead after his network television debut. The results of that journey to today shouldn't be surprising.
First, Carton remained a partner with FOX and worked with Red Seat Ventures to develop a one-hour daily program **** led The Craig Carton Show. His return to WFAN followed, with the official announcement coming in early December. Earlier this year, Carton added another layer to his growing media presence by teaming with Lil Wayne for The Joint Venture podcast. Beginning today, Carton elevates that initial project by bringing The Craig Carton Show to a rebranded and growing OutKick digital platform.
"I have been a frequent guest on OutKick as well as FOX News. So, there's some familiarity that I have with them, and they have with me," said Carton about the early discussions surrounding bringing The Craig Carton Show to OutKick. "I was a guest with Dan [Dakich] about six months ago. Afterwards, they reached out and inquired about my deal with FOX expiring. The interest was mutual."
With Carton's FOX contract coming to an end earlier this summer, the network made an offer to keep him in tow along with The Craig Carton Show podcast. However, the network allowed Carton to retain the podcast and shop it around to other distributors outside of his prior arrangement with SportsGrid.
"I had the ability to go look for other partners, but they [OutKick] had an interest in me. It sort of came together at the same time. I have great respect for FOX as a company. They've been great to me on the sports side. Then to take that and evolve our relationship under the FOX News umbrella was a no-brainer," explained Carton, who co-owns the IP for The Craig Carton Show with FOX. "We're partners in every sense of the word."

It's not the first time, nor will it be the last. This past Saturday, College GameDay devoted a segment to the upcoming vote on the Protect College Sports Act this week in Congress. Regardless of your political leanings, a college football pregame show devoted time at the official kickoff of the season to publicly support national legislation with no representation of the opposing view.
Is this the new normal? Is this the expectation moving forward? Without question, college football needs some sort of reform. But is this act the fix? And should it be debated on a college football pregame show to kick off a new season of Saturdays in the fall? If Saturday was an example, where was the debate? There was none.
I'm not naive enough to believe sports and politics have never mixed on sports television programming. I've always argued that if there is a direct connection between sports and a political debate, then engage. But engage properly. Except, Saturday provided a moment where the intersection was direct. However, the forum was not open to the other side.
Instead, this was lobbying. Not discussion. This was advocacy, not debate.
Yes, Nick Saban is a staunch supporter of the act proposed in Congress. In fact, he testified before a Senate committee in support of the bill and appears in a commercial supporting it. Yes, Pat McAfee is also a supporter of the act. He's said as much on his daily sports talk program.

The chief executive of Robinhood (HOOD) said on Bloomberg Television late last month that states suing to shut down prediction markets are protecting their own money. "States disagree for various reasons," Vlad Tenev said. "I mean, number one is there's a huge financial incentive from collecting taxes on these state-owned operators for that to be protected."
American Gaming ****** ociation figures put state and local tax collections from sports betting at $3.71 billion in calendar 2025, up 32.4% on the year, on $16.96 billion of sportsbook revenue and $166.94 billion of handle. New York, which taxes mobile sports betting at 51%, accounts for roughly a third of the national total on its own; the state's own court filing says mobile operators generated about $2 billion in gross gaming revenue in 2024 and paid more than $1 billion in state taxes. New York and Illinois together produce close to half of everything states collect on sports betting.

We all know that the level of fitness achieved by celebrities we see on television isn't attainable for many, if not most everyday people. And yet, when their sculpted bodies grace our screens, it can still activate a little voice that says "clearly you're not doing enough."
That's why it's so helpful and grounding when a celebrity is actually transparent about the work it takes to achieve their physique, so that it might quiet that self deprecating narrative and help us get a little more realistic about achieving whatever fitness goals we might have. Jessica Biel's recent response to a fan who asked her to share her workout routine is a perfect example of that.
It all started with a clip from her Prime Video thriller series, The Better Sister, where she plays a super fit character …as is evident by how clearly toned s he looks in a backless white dress worn during the show's opening.
Several women have shared the clip on TikTok, while muttering something along the lines of "I need to get back to the gym." One person even asked Biel to share the workout routine she does in order to get that toned. Biel saw the request, and acquiesced…but not without delivering a truth bomb or two.
"Everyone is talking…about the white dress…and I just wanted to share that that peak shape in that show is not maintainable unless you are living the strictest, most rigid lifestyle with your nutrition and with your fitness," she said, admitting that not even she, someone who's been notably lean and athletic their entire adult life, who has access to the best foods, best gym equipment, etc. etc., can sustain that look indefinitely.

Prince Harry isn't the only one working on his tribute to Princess Diana.
Meghan Markle is reportedly taking a central role in the planned television film about her mother-in-law, stepping into the project just as tensions with Prince William continue to simmer.
In the Saturday, September 5 edition of journalist Rob Shuter's Naughty But Nice Substack, sources claimed Markle, 45, will narrate the project, which is being developed ahead of the 30th anniversary of Princess Diana's death in 2027.
"Meghan isn't getting a cameo — she's becoming the voice of Diana's story," a production insider said. "That makes her a central figure in the film. Harry may be the son, but Meghan will be the voice viewers hear."
Naughty But Nice also claimed Harry and Markle are working on the project together.
