A federal court on Sept. 9 dismissed a lawsuit between former Memphis football receiver Cortez Braham and the NCAA, ending a legal saga that stretched on for more than a year.
Braham initially sued the NCAA in 2025 to get an additional year of eligibility. He was granted a preliminary injunction before transferring to Memphis, where he was the Tigers' leading receiver in 2025. After the season ended, Braham's lawyers filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit.
The NCAA fought it, saying in legal filings that it wanted to enforce the "rule of restitution" against Memphis for playing a player they said should have been ineligible. Lawyers for both sides argued their cases in a Las Vegas courtroom in March.
A ruling finally came on Sept. 9, when the panel of judges ruled that the case was moot and dismissed it.
"Famously, in sports, "it ain't over 'til it's over." But, in this case, it's over," Judge Gabriel P. Sanchez wrote. "The game clock has run out on the 2025 college football season. With these appeals, the NCAA attempts one last Hail Mary pass: asking us to reverse the preliminary injunctions granted to these college football players that allowed them to play in the now complete 2025 season. Because these injunctions have already expired and these players' collegiate careers are over, no effective relief can be granted to the NCAA. We therefore dismiss these appeals as moot."

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — Scrumhalf Noah Hotham will join the All Blacks in South Africa ahead of Saturday's first test as cover for injured halves Cortez Ratima and Cam Roigard.
Ratima suffered a knee injury during New Zealand's most-recent match against the Bulls in Pretoria while Roigard has yet to play on tour because of a calf injury.
Hotham was a contentious omission from the All Blacks' original 44-man touring squad as the selectors opted instead for his Crusaders understudy Kyle Preston.
Prop Ollie Norris also has been ruled out of the tour with a knee cartilage injury. Norris will return to New Zealand, and a prop replacement is set to be named in due course.

Ryan Day worked under Urban Meyer for four seasons -- including three as a full-time ****** istant. After taking over as the head coach at Ohio State, he took those lessons and the mentorship of Meyer with him. But recently, he's leaning on a key piece of advice when replacing members of his coaching staff.
Day has had to replace his offensive coordinator in each of the last three seasons, and that coincided this year with losing one of the top recruiters on his roster: Brian Hartline. Hartline, who served as Ohio State's offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach last season, left to take the head coaching position with USF this offseason.
So what did Day do? He remembered what Meyer told him years ago.
"When you're at Ohio State you get to go hire the best," Ryan Day said on The Pat McAfee Show. "I remember one of my first recruiting meetings, I was the quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator and Urban Meyer was the head coach here. And we walked in, and the recruit and the family says, 'Well, we really like coach Day, but what happens if he leaves?' I thought coach was going to say, 'He's going to be here for a long time, you don't need to worry about that.' He just said, 'We'll just go get the next best guy out there.'"

The Los Angeles Angels announced Wednesday that they are expanding access to minor league baseball broadcasts, with Angels Broadcast Television (ABTV) set to air 10 games featuring the organization's Double-A and Triple-A affiliates during the remainder of the 2026 season.
According to an Angels press release, fans with a cable or satellite subscription that includes ABTV will be able to watch the broadcasts, while affiliate games will also continue to be available through Angels TV.
Among the scheduled broadcasts, one matchup stands above the rest. On Aug. 9, the Triple-A Salt Lake Bees will host the Oklahoma City Comets, the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The game could feature several of the top prospects from both organizations, giving fans a chance to watch some of the next generation of talent in Southern California's longtime baseball rivalry.
The Angels' televised slate includes four Salt Lake Bees games and six Rocket City Trash Pandas contests. Fans can expect to follow some of the organization's top prospects throughout the second half of the season, including No. 2 prospect Nelson Rada, No. 4 prospect George Klassen, No. 11 prospect Chris Cortez and No. 14 prospect Raudi Rodriguez.

Socialite Paris Hilton is pushing the U.S. House of Representatives and Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) to pass a bipartisan bill that would legally deep-six those who make and distribute **** ual deepfake images.
The model and former reality television star has backed the DEFIANCE Act, sponsored by Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Laurel Lee (R-FL), which would give victims the right to sue those who "knowingly produce, distribute, solicit and receive or possess with the intent to distribute nonconsensual **** ually-explicit digital forgeries."
The bill passed the Senate in January in a unanimous vote.
Johnson was asked about the DEFIANCE Act Tuesday, but didn't commit to getting it passed.

Socialite Paris Hilton is pushing the U.S. House of Representatives and Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) to pass a bipartisan bill that would legally deep-six those who make and distribute **** ual deepfake images.
The model and former reality television star has backed the DEFIANCE Act, sponsored by Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Laurel Lee (R-FL), which would give victims the right to sue those who "knowingly produce, distribute, solicit and receive or possess with the intent to distribute nonconsensual **** ually-explicit digital forgeries."
The bill passed the Senate in January in a unanimous vote.
Johnson was asked about the DEFIANCE Act Tuesday, but didn't commit to getting it passed.

Cong made the walk to the octagon inside T-Mobile Arena ranked No. 10 in the weight class and riding a three-fight winning streak. The Chinese rising star was hoping to build on the momentum.
Cortez pressed forward and took the fight to Cong in the early going. Cong connected with a right hand followed by a leg kick. They traded right hands. Cong delivered a calf kick that briefly knocked Cortez off her feet. Cong continued to target the legs of Cortez. Cortez stepped in the pocket with a stiff right hand. Packed with nine prelims, the UFC 329 undercard has its own fair amount of intrigue.
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight champion Robert Whittaker had one of the most successful moves up in weight class of all time, so it makes sense he'd try that trick again, as he's now up at light heavyweight against Nikita Krylov in the featured spot. Right below that, former Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson makes his UFC debut; he gets a layup of a matchup and is still quite raw, but provides some much-needed fresh blood at heavyweight. Past that is a solid mix of well-matched action, even if there's not clearly much in the way of immediate stakes; Adrian Yanez should make for a fun matchup against former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt, and a flyweight bout between Tracy Cortez and Cong ******* could put the winner in position for a big fight with a strong performance.

Whittaker's move up to middleweight paid off more than anyone could've imagined, so it's understandable that he'd want to try things up at light heavyweight, even if it might not work at this point in his career. Australia's "Reaper" won the one-off “TUF: Smashes” season that pitted Australia against England, and he kicked off his UFC career as a fairly anonymous welterweight, splitting his first four fights before an eventual move up to 185 pounds in 2014. It immediately became apparent that Whittaker made the right move; his boxing popped more than ever with his newfound speed advantage, and his increased cardio made him an absolute terror in terms of overwhelming his opponents -- if he didn't simply just knock them out in short order. Years 2015 and 2016 saw Whittaker begin to stand out as one of the UFC's first stars in the Oceanic region, and a breakthrough win in 2017 over Ronaldo Souza made it apparent that Whittaker could be champion sooner rather than later; that fight saw him break out a high-level wrestling game for the first time, essentially leaving him as a fighter with no clear weaknesses, even at a high level.
Whittaker was indeed clearly the best 185-pound fighter in the world within a year, but he never got the true coronation he deserved, owing to a streak of bad luck. With Tyler Linderbaum, Patrick Ricard, Isaiah Likely, Charlie Kolar, Keaton Mitchell, and DeAndre Hopkins no longer part of the equation, the Ravens have to redistribute meaningful snaps at center, tight end, wide receiver, and in the backfield while offensive coordinator Declan Doyle installs a detail-driven system built around explosive plays, formation flexibility, and the continued stress Jackson creates on defenses.
Jackson played 702 offensive snaps last season, or 69.2%, as injuries and game circumstances reduced his total. If healthy, he should push back toward the 90% range in 2026. Tyler Huntley returns as the clear backup after playing 197 snaps last season, but his workload should shrink if Jackson stays available. Skylar Thompson gives Baltimore experienced depth, while Diego Pavia and Joe ******* nano enter camp as developmental quarterbacks competing for a path to the practice squad.
Henry remains the lead back after logging 556 snaps last season, or 54.8%, but Baltimore has to reshape the rotation behind him. Justice Hill played 219 offensive snaps and should again be the top change-of-pace and passing-down option if healthy. Rasheen Ali’s offensive role could grow after he played 119 snaps last season, while rookie Adam Randall is the wild card because his versatility gives Doyle a runner, receiver, and gadget option who can be used in motion, backfield packages, and specialty looks. Dontae McMillan and Elijah Tau-Tolliver are likely fighting for depth and special teams value. Lucas Scott is the lone fullback, but his roster path is complicated by Doyle’s preference for using tight ends and H-backs instead of a traditional fullback role.
Wide receiver should remain centered on Zay Flowers, who played 879 snaps last season, or 86.6%, and now enters 2026 as the unquestioned No. 1 option after back-to-back Pro Bowl seasons.
