Legal representatives from Samsung are seeking the dismissal of Dua Lipa's $15 million lawsuit over the unauthorized use of her image on a product box. In a new Thursday filing obtained by Rolling Stone, the company argues that the singer does not have grounds to sue because there's "nothing suggesting plaintiff endorses the televisions."
"The images merely depict the televisions' on-screen interface, illustrating the applications and … an example of content available on the TV," lawyers for Samsung said. The relevant products contain a photo of Lipa on boxes for televisions featuring Samsung TV Plus, where the singer is used to promote the Xite Hits channel. Other logos that appear on the product include MLB, Fox Sports, and the crime series The First 48.

Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NCAA. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Nebraska fans and fans across the country.
Last week, we settled the sellout streak as almost 50/50 unsettled. And there we leave it until next season most likely where winning, losing or somewhere in between will re-stoke the argument until the 2027 off-season leaves us looking for arguments until that season commences.
This week, let's find an answer to a more peaceful subject – where will you and do you usually watch Husker football? Are you making a day of it in and out of Memorial Stadium? Are you bellying up to the bar with big screen hi-def televisions entertaining you with Husker football and multiple other games? Are you watching at home in the living room or man cave which played a key part of your home purchase?
Or do you find yourself on the road imagining it in your head as the radio gives you all you need to see what's going on in your mind's eye.
Husker Game Day is finally here – where are you watching? (Click below to cast your vote)

Dollar General (DG) wins the portfolio battle over Best Buy (BBY) with a beta of 0.235, a defensive consumables mix, and just-raised full-year EPS guidance.
Best Buy's 91% Polymarket earnings beat probability looks compelling, but its stock at $85 already trades above **** ysts' $83 consensus target.

Dollar General (NYSE:DG) and Best Buy (NYSE:BBY) both report results before the market opens on Thursday, August 27, 2026, and they present the retirement-focused investor with the same trade dressed two different ways. Both sell to a strained American consumer. One is a low-beta consumer defensive name. The other is a higher-beta consumer cyclical. The question is which risk profile earns the seat in the portfolio ahead of Thursday's earnings releases.
Beta measures how much a stock tends to move relative to the broader market. Below 1.0 means the stock historically moves less than the index. Above 1.0 means it moves more. Dollar General's beta is 0.235, one of the lowest readings in retail, and the company is in the Consumer Defensive sector, where roughly 82% of the mix is everyday consumables that customers buy in any economy. Best Buy has a beta of 1.317 and sits in Consumer Cyclical, tethered to televisions, appliances, and computing upgrade cycles that households defer when budgets tighten.

ARLINGTON, Texas — If Heliot Ramos' All-Star appearance at this very ballpark two years ago didn't cement his status as one of the Giants' biggest recent homegrown success stories, then his second straight Opening Day start this year should have left little doubt.
Ramos became the franchise's first left fielder to do so since Barry Bonds two decades earlier.
Just over four months later, Ramos looked at one of the televisions in the visitors' clubhouse at Globe Life Park and couldn't believe what he saw along with his name on the screen.

"My heart was beating hard," Ramos said.

It appears as if Nielsen is preparing to find yet another way to keep sports viewership trending upward ahead of the upcoming football season.
The audience-measurement firm, whose data is treated as the gold standard within the television business and is the currency by which networks sell advertising to media buyers, plans to formally roll out a new co-viewing initiative “as soon as September,” according to a report by Eric Fisher in Front Office Sports. The news comes after Nielsen piloted the co-viewing program during the month of February, measuring major sporting events like Super Bowl LX, the Olympics, the NBA All-Star Game, the Daytona 500, and the State of the Union. Across those events, Nielsen found that its updated co-viewing methods added 4.19% to total viewership.
Co-viewing, in layman’s terms, is when several people watch a telecast together in the same room. Nielsen’s new methodology introduces a wearable device that members of Nielsen households use to help determine how many viewers are in the room watching a given telecast. Previously, Nielsen households had to manually log the number of viewers in a room.
Since 2020, Nielsen has introduced a number of major methodological changes, all of which have had the effect of raising viewership data compared to historical norms. First, Nielsen began including out-of-home viewing measurements into its top-line data after years of reporting the number separately. Several years later, Nielsen expanded these out-of-home measurements, which initially reached just two-thirds of the country, to reach the entire contiguous United States. Shortly after, Nielsen implemented “Big Data” into its measurements, which collects data from millions of connected televisions and incorporates that data into its traditional panel measurements. The co-viewing change would mark the fourth major methodology shift in six years.
“This is obviously complex stuff, but our goal is still very simple: we want to be as accurate as possible, and this is the next iteration of Big Data,” Nielsen’s head of global sports, Seth Ladetsky, told Front Office Sports.

Will you get a red card if you sue FIFA?
There must have been a spike in the use of Harvey, Legora, and the other legal AI platforms late last night as thousands of American lawyers tried to figure out how to sue FIFA for the red card given to American soccer star Folarin Balogun, despite having been screaming at their televisions for hours. This morning, the front page of The Wall Street Journal practically begged for some lawyer to make a claim. In case you don’t have access to such AI legal smarts, even though they are becoming ubiquitous, instant and nearly free, here is the AI enhanced summary for you to pontificate about with a beer in your hand at the Fourth of July barbeque in the backyard of that neighbor you are so envious of that you no longer like them. The short answer is that you can sue—if you can avoid sanctions—but you probably cannot win. If you were going to sue anyway, however, here are the claims you would make, with only one having even a remote—as in you may be better off buying a lottery ticket—chance of success.
Every theory mentioned here has more holes than ****** e here will allow me to explain, but if you want to sound like both a soccer fan and a litigator, because all fans sound like litigators yelling, at your neighborhood Fourth of July party, here is your legal playbook.
The first rule of sports litigation, my twelve years old nephew tells me, is that courts almost never want to become instant replay officials. Whether the dispute involves baseball umpires, Olympic judging, horse racing stewards, or FIFA referees, judges generally recognize that sports require finality-- like that famous sporting event, Bush versus Gore . Games have winners and losers because someone has perceived authority to make decisions on the field, as in who has the best homemade salsa. If every controversial call became federal litigation, no championship would ever end, but the AI agents would be very happy because they would be helping their company’s get very rich.
That is why the first lawsuit most American lawyers would draft is also the weakest.

Best Buy Co Inc (NYSE:BBY) is positioned for a new phase of growth under incoming CEO Jason Bonfig, according to Jefferies ****** ysts, who said that recent discussions with the executive left them increasingly confident in the company's outlook amid shifting dynamics in consumer electronics.
Jefferies sees a supportive backdrop for the retailer as replacement cycles, product innovation and category complexity converge, creating what it describes as an opportunity for higher industry growth and above-average expansion for Best Buy.
The firm highlighted potential upside drivers, including retail media, third-party marketplace growth, TV replacement demand, and share gains in appliances.
Jefferies pointed to Bonfig's long-standing relationships with key vendors as a strategic advantage, particularly in the context of ongoing supply chain constraints such as memory chip shortages.
The ****** ysts also highlighted his role in securing Best Buy's early exclusivity around RGB televisions, citing it as evidence of his ability to commercialize emerging technology trends.
