The Seattle Seahawks are 1-0, so it's time to start scouting their next opponent.
The Arizona Cardinals shocked the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1 with a 26-14 win in which Mike LaFleur became the franchise's first non-interim head coach to win their first game in charge. The matchup was projected as one of the opening week's most lopsided in favor of Jim Harbaugh and Los Angeles, who were coming off an 11-6 record in 2025. Los Angeles made the playoffs and lost to the eventual AFC champion New England Patriots in the Wild Card round, albeit without either of their starting offensive tackles—Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt—who were both expected to boost the offense upon their return this season. Arizona's defense had other ideas, and became one of the biggest surprises of any unit across Week 1's Sunday slate, while their offense simply looked more talented and outplayed LA with complementary football. That's what the Seahawks will be looking for in Week 2.
The Cardinals defense played with an energy that stifled Justin Herbert and new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel, who only held the ball for 51 plays and 22:29. Arizona ran 21 more plays and had the ball for 15:02 more of the game (more than an entire quarter?!) When watching this game, the attitude from Arizona's defense seemed to disregard the stature of its opponent. LaFleur retained defensive coordinator Nick Rallis, who Phoenix-based sports radio host John Gambadoro credits for helping set the temperature.
It's easy to see Rallis' results. The intensity of the defense that showed up on tape is just as evident on paper. His Cardinals defense ranks second to last in blitz rate so far this season, yet they held McDaniel and Herbert to a measly 2-for-8 on third downs and 0-for-3 on fourth downs. Their front seven was far more formidable than the Chargers on the day, producing 17 pressures on 55 snaps while LA could only muster 12 on 75 opportunities. On the flipside, the Cardinals' offensive line has been projected as their downfall this season. The Seahawks have a clear opportunity to establish their presence as a physically dominant team if they kill the Cardinals momentum. This will be the game for elite run blockers like AJ Barner and run stoppers like Uchenna Nwosu to put the new age film community on watch.

Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh is happy to see offensive tackles Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt back on the field together again.
Harbaugh spoke to the media on Friday and said the two stars are 'ready to roll.'
"It's been earned by rehab and training," Harbaugh said.
"Guys just practicing, working together for the last many months. Ready to roll, in a good place."
Slater and Alt did not play in a single snap together in 2025. Slater was ruled out for the entire season in August 2025 due to a torn left patellar tendon. He required surgery and did not play a single snap.

The Sacramento Kings' interest in Jalen Duren isn't going away, even if the Pistons have basically shut the door on a sign-and-trade for now. On the latest episode of ESPN's The Hoop Collective, Anthony Slater said GM Scott Perry has Duren's name "with highlighter pen" as a possible target, while also noting that Sacramento could create max cap ***** e next summer if Duren takes his $9.6 million qualifying offer and becomes an unrestricted free agent in 2027. The Kings already met with Duren earlier in free agency, so this isn't just random trade-machine talk.
The problem is Detroit. The Kings would like to sign-and-trade for Duren with Domantas Sabonis going the other way, per Tim MacMahon, but "that's not happening," because the Pistons have made it clear they aren't interested in moving their 22-year-old All-NBA center. Detroit reportedly wants Duren closer to $35.0 million per season, while his camp is looking for more than $40.0 million, and the Pistons still "absolutely, positively, 100%" intend to keep him despite that gap in "nasty" negotiations.
So if the Kings really want Duren now instead of waiting another year, Sabonis alone clearly isn't getting it done. They would need to make the return much bigger, probably bring in more teams to solve the salary issues, and give Detroit enough immediate talent and draft capital to at least reconsider its current position. This four-team framework with the Bucks and Raptors does exactly that, while landing Sacramento the young center they clearly want to build around.

There's few things more excruciating for a fantasy football manager than watching one of your players waste away on a bad offense. Whether it's poor play-calling, offensive line play or an incompetent quarterback, even the best receivers and running backs can struggle to break through because of their circumstances.
We've already identified the teams to avoid in fantasy for that reason, and now it's the flip side of that coin. Here are five teams worth targeting in 2026 fantasy football drafts, as they could produce enough offensive fireworks to have several players worth rostering.
The Chargers brought in OC Mike McDaniel to revitalize their offense after he did wonders with Tua Tagovailoa in Miami. Tackles Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt are now healthy as well, so it's full speed ahead for Justin Herbert, running back Omarion Hampton and receivers Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston. I'm targeting Johnston late in all my drafts, as he's the Chargers' undisputed deep threat with Herbert one of the NFL's best deep passers. Johnston is a steal at his current ADP.
Dallas has the NFL's most fearsome wide receiver duo in CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, plus a surgically accurate quarterback in Dak Prescott. Javonte Williams is also coming off a career year as the team's lead running back, and his powerful style should continue to be a perfect complement to the high-flying pass game. All four players are worth targeting, but tight end Jake Ferguson is a fade at his current ADP as his game is touchdown-reliant and lacks the verticality of, say, Isaiah Likely or Juwan Johnson.
Ben Johnson has a case to be the NFL's brightest offensive mind, so it's wise to load up on Bears in drafts. D'Andre Swift is a perfect RB2 if you go WR heavy early. Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III have a big chance to outplay their ADP if Caleb Williams can take the leap many are expecting. And as for the tight end skyrocketing up draft boards, Colston Loveland has a chance for a Travis Kelce-type season if he can stay healthy and build off the momentum he had late last season.

The Golden State Warriors' reported pursuit of Jaren Jackson Jr. before last season's trade deadline just shows how aggressive, or, to be kind of unfair, how increasingly desperate the team has been trying to build one more contender around Stephen Curry.
According to ESPN's Anthony Slater, the Warriors did try to look at a potential Jaren Jackson Jr. move before the Memphis Grizzlies eventually traded him to the Utah Jazz.
On paper, the interest did make sense. Jackson is a former Defensive Player of the Year, two-time All-Star, and still only 26 years old.
But his four-year, $204 million extension was yet to kick in, and that is a massive financial commitment, especially for a player who is not seen as a top-25 player in this league.
That is why this makes Golden State's interest so revealing.

Slater missed the entire 2025 season after suffering a torn patellar tendon during last summer's training camp. While he was initially cleared, a little flare-up in his surgically repaired left knee on August 4 forced the team to exercise caution.
After sitting out eight consecutive practices and missing the preseason matchup against the 49ers, Slater finally made his way back to action in a limited capacity. He participated in individual drills and the opening period of 11-on-11 team reps before moving aside to finish his day under the supervision of trainers.
Though Slater's workload is being heavily managed, there is plenty of reason for optimism regarding his return. Slater previously stated that his knee feels "strong and stable," adding that he appreciates the organization's "smart and thoughtful" approach to his long-term health.

Chargers center Tyler Biadasz was carted off during their joint practice against the 49ers with a leg injury.
Biadasz went down after 49ers defensive tackle Sebastian Valdez fell on his left knee during 11v11. The medical cart came out after he couldn't put any weight on his leg.
The Chargers made Biadasz a key part of their offensive-line overhaul this offseason, signing the 28-year-old to a three-year, $30 million contract after the Commanders released him. Los Angeles quickly installed him as its starting center.
Biadasz is set to bring plenty of experience to the position, having earned a Pro Bowl selection with the Cowboys in 2022. His presence should provide Justin Herbert with added stability up front while giving the Chargers a veteran anchor between Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt.

The Chargers made Biadasz a key part of their offensive-line overhaul this offseason, signing the 28-year-old to a three-year, $30 million contract after the Commanders released him. Los Angeles quickly installed him as its starting center.

Former Georgia Bulldogs offensive guard Jamaree Salyer was expected to become or at least compete to be a starter with the Miami Dolphins. Unfortunately, he suffered an injury that will take him out for the entire 2026-27 season. The Dolphins announced they moved him to season-ending injured reserve. The injury was undisclosed.
Salyer, now 26, signed with the Dolphins on a one-year deal this offseason after four seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers. He started 31 of the 34 games he played in his first two seasons, taking over as the left tackle starter in 2022 following the loss of starter Rashawn Slater in 2022 and earning the start at right guard when Slater came back from injury.
Unfortunately, while he was good in 2022 (69.8 Pro Football Focus grade and a 76.4 pass-blocking grade), his 2023 was not as effective. He had just a 54.2 PFF grade, allowing eight sacks and 41 pressures.
From 2024 onward, Salyer was a depth piece on the offensive line, starting just nine games in the past two seasons. In 2025, his PFF grade stood at just 59.9. He allowed 22 pressures and four sacks, while also generating eight penalties, according to PFF Premium (subscription needed). He was looking for a bounce back season with the Dolphins, but unfortunately, it appears to be cut way too short.
Before his time in the NFL, Salyer played with the Bulldogs from 2018-21. He was a second-team All-American in 2021 as the team's primary left tackle. There are high expectations for the Chargers' offense as the 2026 season approaches.
The offense is expected to be an elite unit following the addition of offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel. Los Angeles is expected to take a major leap, and they certainly have the potential to do that, especially if the revamped offensive line performs as expected.
No unit was re-evaluated more than the Chargers' offensive line, and because of that, they enter the season as a top-10 unit, at least according to Pro Football Focus.
PFF ranked the Chargers No. 7 in their offensive line ranking ahead of the season.

Former New England Patriots captain Matthew Slater spoke for the first time to Boston 25 on Monday since Boston College High School announced he'd step in as the Eagles' **** istant head coach of leadership and development.
The three-time Super Bowl champion and retired all-pro briefly coached for the Patriots in 2024.
BC High's head coach Paul Zukauskas said he reached out to Slater after his first season at the helm for the Eagles in 2024.
"I texted him cold," Zukauskas said. "I said, 'I'm... a big fan of your career and what you represent in football. So, if you're ever interested in coaching this level, I'd love to talk to you."

With rookies already in camp, the Tennessee **** ans are just a few days away from taking the field and watching the position battles commence.
Tennessee made some significant changes to its roster throughout the offseason and will look a lot different than it did in 2025, but it still has some questions to answer on both sides of the ball. In his preseason preview, ESPN's Turron Davenport outlines three key position battles to watch once camp kicks off that could have a major impact on the outcome of the 2026 season.
There's no slam-dunk favorite in the three-way battle between veterans Austin Schlottmann and Andre James and rookie Pat Coogan. Schlottmann has the upper hand, having played in Daboll's offense the past two seasons. But James, a late addition during minicamp, started 31 games for offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo with the Raiders in 2022 and 2023. Coogan has an outside shot at the job because of his top-level communication skills, but he has an uphill battle after being selected in the sixth round in April.
The late addition of James adds some more intrigue to this competition, which had the appearance of a two-horse race throughout most of the offseason. James did have his best seasons under Bricillo, and could surprise. Coogan has championship pedigree from his college days, and could eventually see some reps, definitely making it one of the positions to watch.
Veterans Cordell Volson and Jackson Slater are the primary competitors in this battle. Volson has 48 starts under his belt after being selected by the Bengals in the fourth round in 2022. He missed the 2025 season after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder last August. Slater enters his second season after being selected in the fifth round last year. Tennessee made some significant changes to its roster throughout the offseason and will look a lot different than it did in 2025, but it still has some questions to answer on both sides of the ball. In his preseason preview, ESPN's Turron Davenport outlines three key position battles to watch once camp kicks off that could have a major impact on the outcome of the 2026 season.
There's no slam-dunk favorite in the three-way battle between veterans Austin Schlottmann and Andre James and rookie Pat Coogan. Schlottmann has the upper hand, having played in Daboll's offense the past two seasons. But James, a late addition during minicamp, started 31 games for offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo with the Raiders in 2022 and 2023. Coogan has an outside shot at the job because of his top-level communication skills, but he has an uphill battle after being selected in the sixth round in April.
The late addition of James adds some more intrigue to this competition, which had the appearance of a two-horse race throughout most of the offseason. James did have his best seasons under Bricillo, and could surprise. Coogan has championship pedigree from his college days, and could eventually see some reps, definitely making it one of the positions to watch.
Veterans Cordell Volson and Jackson Slater are the primary competitors in this battle. Volson has 48 starts under his belt after being selected by the Bengals in the fourth round in 2022. He missed the 2025 season after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder last August. Slater enters his second season after being selected in the fifth round last year.
