New York Knicks superfan and actor Anne Hathaway was left in shock when co-star Dakota Johnson claimed she had no idea who OG Anunoby is.
Hathaway has had a blockbuster 2026 with starring roles in movies like Inertia and The Odyssey. She was also a public presence during the Knicks run to the 2026 NBA ******* le, having expressed fandom for OG Anunoby in particular earlier in the season.
While Anunoby's name has been immortalised in sports lore for his contributions to the Knicks' ******* le win, Hathaway could not believe the reaction of her non-sports-knowing co-star Johnson at Anunoby's mention.
In an interview alongside Josh Hartnett and Dakota Johnson, Hathaway is asked to identify previous collaborators through clues. Hartnett and Johnson are visibly stumped when they're asked to describe OG Anunoby, with Johnson asking Hathaway if that was a real person.
Hathaway would then explain Anunoby's legendary tip-in winner in Game 4 of the NBA Finals to help the Knicks take a 3-1 series lead against the Spurs before sealing the series in Game 5 and winning the ******* le.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — As first impressions go, the new-look Buffalo Bills under Joe Brady opened the season looking much like the team previously coached by Sean McDermott.
And that's not an altogether good thing.
Josh Allen was a near one-man offensive show in a 36-31 win at Houston that featured eight lead changes, including four in the final quarter. He threw two TD passes and had two rushing for his 25th four-touchdown career outing; improved to 24-8 when topping 300 yards passing; and pulled out the victory with his 26th game-winning drive.
Breathtaking as the performance was, it was also reminiscent of the recent past with Allen once again required to patch over the defense's deficiencies. This was one of the reasons the Bills changed course in January by firing McDermott after Buffalo's defensive dud in a 33-30 overtime playoff loss to Denver.
Though on Sunday the defense came up with a victory-sealing stop on Greg Rousseau's strip-sack of C.J. Stroud with 9 seconds remaining at the Bills 18, it marked one of the few times Buffalo got the Texans off the field.

Barnett completed 63.3% of his passes the first two weeks, throwing for 344 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.

Ayyoub Bouaddi has handled everything thrown at him since joining Manchester City with remarkable composure - though his leisurely strolls may need rerouting after recent events.
The Moroccan midfielder has been able to traverse the city center's sidewalks over recent weeks, moving about unnoticed and unrecognized despite sealing an £85 million ($117 million) transfer from Lille. However, the teenager with a distinctive look can't remain incognito much longer after delivering an impressive performance in his maiden start for the Blues.
City shelled out a premium price for Bouaddi - exceeding what rival clubs were prepared to pay - because they were confident he could slot directly into a squad that lost Rodri and Bernardo Silva from their engine room during the summer window. The 18-year-old has been gradually integrated but entered the lineup for the UEFA Champions League fixture in Porto, replacing £116 million ($155.2 million) signing Elliot Anderson.

While more experienced teammates around him struggled, Bouaddi provided a steadying influence from kickoff and moved effortlessly across the turf to give Enzo Maresca's squad command of proceedings. The manager was all smiles when questioned about the player postgame and joined a growing roster of those who've encountered Bouaddi in praising him as an exceptional prospect.

A record-breaking performance capped by a game-sealing tackle led Auburn safety Eric Winters to a weekly award.
Winters was named SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week after his Week 1 performance against Baylor, recording a career-high 11 tackles in the Tigers' 17-16 win over the Baylor Bears in the Aflac Kickoff Game in Atlanta, Georgia. He finished with nine solo tackles, with none bigger than his stop of Baylor tight end Matthew Klopfenstein at the goal line late in the 4th quarter, which thwarted a two-point conversion attempt and sealed the win for the Tigers.
Winters' clutch tackle came one play after miscommunication in coverage led to a Baylor touchdown, cutting the Tigers' lead to just one point with 0:09 remaining in regulation. Baylor elected to go for the win with a two-point conversion attempt, which allowed Winters a shot at redemption. It was a shot he did not miss.
"(DJ) Durkin always says 'next play mentality,'" Winters said postgame. "The next play came, (and I) made a play to win us the game."
Winters splits this week's award with Texas linebacker Rasheem Biles, who logged five tackles and created two turnovers in the Longhorns' 59-7 win over Texas State on Saturday. Winters will work to earn a second consecutive SEC award this week when Auburn faces Southern Miss on Saturday; kickoff is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. CT on SEC Network.

HONOLULU (AP) — Jai'den Thomas rushed for 143 yards and a touchdown, Jackson Arnold rushed for 89 yards and two scores along with 116 passing yards, and UNLV weathered Hawaii's attempted comeback in a 21-6 victory on Saturday night.

Arnold ran for two short touchdowns of 2 and 7 yards in the first half to give UNLV a 14-3 cushion at the break. The second half, however, was almost all Hawaii until near the end of the fourth.
Hawaii outgained UNLV 185-147 in the second half, but only mustered three more points. They saw their fourth-quarter drives end with a turnover on downs, a punt and a game-sealing interception.

Fourth-seeded Coco Gauff advanced to the fourth round of the US Open on Saturday, turning back Spain's Cristina Bucsa in straight sets.
Gauff, the 2023 US Open champion, topped the 40th ranked Spaniard 6-3 6-4 in 88 minutes, charging the net on match point and sealing the victory when Bucsa's lob sailed long.
"She's a tricky player, so it's tough to get rhythm," Gauff said of the Spaniard. "Happy with how I fought through even when I wasn't playing my best."
Gauff, who is on a nine-match winning streak after triumphing in the Cincinnati warmup tournament, will next play either rising American Iva Jovic or Alex Eala of the Philippines.
In a largely baseline battle both Gauff and Bucsa made effective forays to the net and dug in defensively to extend the rallies with difficult retrievals that enthralled the crowd in Arthur Ashe Stadium.

For the last time this year, the Los Angeles Rams took the field without their starters. They put a bow on the preseason Thursday night with one last game against the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium. The next time they take the field, it'll count.
Ty Simpson got the start and played the entire first half, putting together another quality performance to wrap up his first preseason in the NFL. He led the Rams to a third straight victory, as Los Angeles went a perfect 3-0 this summer ahead of the regular season.
The Rams allowed their first touchdowns of the preseason, giving up two scores to the Chargers, but the defense came through when it needed to most. Darryl Peterson III delivered a game-clinching strip-sack with under a minute to play, sealing the 20-18 win for the Rams.
11: Simpson started the game with 11 completions on his first 12 throws, with the only incompletion being a drop by Tyler Scott.
2: Cam Lampkin had two tackles for a loss, one being a sack and the other a stop on a run play.

Bob Myers gets real about how LeBron James picked the hardest path by signing with Philly originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
One of the biggest storylines of the 2026 offseason was definitely LeBron James' next destination. He decided to exit the Los Angeles Lakers, so almost every team in the league wanted to sign him. Despite the fact that he is 41, no one truly cared because they wanted the four-time Finals MVP.
Amid all the interest, James joined the Philadelphia 76ers. After seeing them trade for Jaylen Brown, it was already a loaded team, but they managed to land James. Harris Blitzer Sports and Entertainment's Bob Myers, formerly of the Golden State Warriors, was integral to sealing the deal to get Bron to the City of Brotherly Love.
Throughout his career, James has made a lot of smart decisions when it comes to joining teams. He joined the Miami Heat in 2010 and immediately became contenders. They made it to four consecutive NBA Finals, winning two of them.
He made his return to the Cleveland Cavaliers, and they made it to the Finals from 2015 to 2018. James led them to the win in 2016, coming back from a 3-1 deficit. The same can also be said about him joining the Lakers in 2018, managing to lead them to a **** le in his second year there.

Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong struggled at the plate in the series opener against the D-backs at Chase Field on Monday night, going 0-for-5. The closest Armstrong came to a hit (potentially an HR) was a deep fly ball to center field, but it was easily caught by the outfielder just before the warning track.
Armstrong, already rounding the bases, had just touched first base when he saw the flyout and, in frustration, slammed his helmet onto the infield dirt track. Dan Clark, an MLB ******* yst and the founder of Dan Clark Sports, known for sharing unbiased opinions on the latest in baseball, criticized Armstrong for his reaction.
"More immaturity from PCA last night, wildly throwing his helmet in anger after flying out. IMO, this is setting a terrible example for young kids watching baseball. MLB needs to stop promoting this guy and his reckless behavior," Clark wrote on X.
While the star CF had a quiet night at the plate, the Cubs piled on runs, with Michael Conforto and Carson Kelly hitting home runs and four other batters recording an RBI each. The pitchers, led by starter Kevin Gausman, were absolutely clinical, sealing a standout 7-0 shutout win in the series opener against the D-backs.
In 132 games this season, Armstrong maintains a .278 batting average, with 33 home runs, 83 RBIs, and a .929 OPS. He's projected to hit 41 home runs and drive in 102 RBIs by season's end.

NEW YORK (AP) — As the WNBA heads into its final week before the FIBA World Cup break, the postseason picture is becoming clearer.
Seven teams have already clinched spots in the playoffs with Minnesota, Golden State and Las Vegas leading the way. Atlanta, Indiana, New York and Washington also will be in the postseason. Dallas is not far from sealing the eighth and final place.
Where those teams end up seeding-wise is still up for grabs. There is only 1 1/2 games separating the second-place Valkyries and fifth-place Fever.
There's only a game difference between No. 6 New York and eighth-seeded Dallas.
The top four teams will have homecourt advantage in the opening round of the best-of-three playoff series. The semifinals are best-of-five and the WNBA Finals are best-of-seven.

As reported by Alfredo Pedullà, while there is reported interest in ******* nal forward Gabriel Martinelli from Serie A clubs, nothing concrete has materialised to even suggest a proposal is on the horizon.
Roma's name has been linked with the Brazil winger, though for them he has never really been an option. Napoli are expected to have taken a look but have not shown an inclination to test the waters at the Emirates.
Inter, meanwhile, have been named in Brazilian papers as his strongest suitors, but no concrete proposal seems to be coming anytime soon. They're expected to be focusing on outgoings after sealing Curtis Jones' signing from Liverpool, and may only consider an opportunistic move near deadline day.
Valued by Transfermarkt at €45 million, the 25-year-old is now in the final year of his £180,000-per-week contract at ******* nal.
Martinelli had been expected to be on the move even before the arrival of Christos Tzolis, who has started the season on fire and looks set to make that left-wing berth his own.

The Houston Texans need a proven wide receiver after the season-ending injury suffered by second-year receiver Jayden Higgins.
Right now, there seems to be a clear option on the table and certainly a player looking for a bigger role.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, teams have reached out about acquiring veteran receiver Kayshon Boutte in exchange for a draft pick. Since the Texans now seem to be in the market, Rapoport believes that could be the dream destination.
Boutte, 24, had a promising season last year as the No. 2 target for Drake Maye en route to the Super Bowl. The LSU product caught 33 passes for 551 yards and a career-high 6 touchdowns, including a game-sealing touchdown reception in the divisional round playoff win over the Texans.
But the Patriots added A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs in free agency and trades this offseason and gave each top money, so they're expected to be the new top two weapons opposite tight end Hunter Henry. This likely reduces Boutte's exposure in the offense and makes him a name worth dicussing via the trade markets.

The Trent Rockets also walked away with an additional prize, winning the inaugural Helix trophy for the best combined franchise performance across the men's and women's competitions.
The men's final looked to be slipping away from Manchester Super Giants before Tim Seifert intervened with a breathtaking ******* ault. Trent Rockets posted 158 for 8 from their 100 ******* , with Aneurin Donald leading the recovery with a rapid 38 off 19 ******* , while captain Lewis Gregory contributed 32 from 19.

The Rockets had made a steady start through Ben Duckett, but their momentum was checked by a double blow. Spinner Noor Ahmad was involved in the dismissal of captain Sam Billings before removing Tim David for a duck, leaving Manchester with an opening to seize control.

Donald and Gregory then rebuilt the innings with aggressive strokeplay, pushing Trent towards a competitive total of 158. Manchester's response began with a clear intent to attack.

Seifert turned the chase into a spectacle, smashing 72 off just 38 ******* , including seven sixes. His calculated aggression kept Manchester ahead of the required rate and put the Rockets under immense pressure. Paul Walter provided valuable support, adding 22 off 14 ******* , with the pair putting together a blistering 66-run stand from only 31 ******* .

But just when Manchester appeared certain to cruise home, the final overs produced a dramatic twist. Noor Ahmad finished with three wickets for Manchester, while Amir claimed three for Trent Rockets, but it was Seifert's extraordinary innings that ultimately defined the final.

Pensacola native and Seattle Seahawks cornerback Devon Witherspoon is about to get paid in a big way.
The 2019 Pine Forest alum and the Seahawks have reportedly agreed to a four-year, $132 million contract extension with over $101 million in guaranteed money that would make Witherspoon the highest-paid cornerback in league history, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The contract won't kick in until the 2028 season, as Witherspoon will make $5.1 million in 2026 as part of his NFL rookie contract and $21.16 million in 2027 after the Seahawks picked up his fifth-year option.
Witherspoon was named second team all-Pro in 2025 despite missing five games with an injury. He recorded 72 tackles, an interception, a fumble recovery, half a sack, seven pass deflections and four quarterback hits.
Witherspoon stepped up in the postseason too, playing a key role in the Seahawks run to Super Bowl 60.
