Aug. 11 (UPI) -- The Kansas City Chiefs agreed to a one-year contract with defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah, a source familiar with the agreement told UPI on Tuesday.
Ogbah, 32, spent last season with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 10-year veteran totaled 48 sacks over the first 136 appearances of his NFL career.
The second-round pick by the Cleveland Browns in the 2016 NFL Draft initially joined the Chiefs in a 2019 trade. He went on to log 29.5 sacks over five seasons with the Miami Dolphins from 2020 to 2024.
He recorded a career-high nine sacks during each of his 2020 and 2021 campaigns with the Dolphins. Ogbah totaled 15 combined tackles, four quarterback hits, two tackles for a loss, a pass defensed, fumble recovery and half-sack over 13 appearances last season. He made three starts for the Jaguars.
The Chiefs released their first unofficial depth chart for the 2026 season on Monday, with George Karlaftis and Ashton Gillotte listed as their starting defensive ends. Felix Anudike-Uzomah, R Mason Thomas, V.J. Anthony, Tyreke Smith, Ethan Hurkett and Anthony Dunn are among their other defensive ends.

Two traditional clubs with large and passionate fan bases will kick off their respective seasons on Sunday, with the atmosphere inside the Max-Morlock-Stadion expected to be electric as Nürnberg face Dynamo Dresden.
Miroslav Klose enters his third season in charge of Der Club, with promotion ambitions yet to come to fruition following 10th and eighth-place finishes in his first two campaigns. The former Germany international will be hoping this can finally be the season in which he guides Nürnberg back to the Bundesliga.
As with most clubs in the division, Nürnberg have seen several departures during the summer, with Fabio Gruber and Luka Lochoshvili among those to leave. However, the club have brought in eight new players to compensate for those losses.
Nürnberg also enjoyed an unbeaten pre-season, recording four wins and one draw. Strikers Piet Scobel and Mohamed Ali Zoma both impressed during the preparations, scoring four goals apiece across the five matches.
Klose is determined to ensure his side make a better start than they did last season:

For the fourth consecutive day in St. Joe, Kansas City Chiefs players, coaches and fans were treated to a cool morning; this practice was breezy but sunny, and lasted roughly two hours.
The team is looking ahead to a rest day on Sunday before the pads come on Monday. Here's everything to know from Arrowhead Pride's in-person observations of Saturday's practice:
Jared Sapp has the details on rookie wide receiver Cyrus Allen's mid-practice injury that drew a loud gasp from the crowd watching. It happened during punt team.
With defensive end Ashton Gillotte unavailable due to a strained hamstring he suffered during Friday's practice, fourth-year player Felix Anudike-Uzomah stepped up to play more with the starting defense on Saturday.
As practice began, the first-team unit walked through different formations. Most notable was this year's first look at Dime personnel, the defensive formation with six defensive backs, one linebacker and four pass-rushing threats up front.

In this series, we will look at established players — virtual locks to make this year's Kansas City Chiefs squad — with the most riding on the 2026 season.
On April 27, 2023, with the NFL Draft being held at Kansas City's Union Station, the Chiefs announced a selection that had the look of a generational feel-good story.
Coming off of a victory months earlier in Super Bowl LVII, team chairman Clark Hunt took the stage to announce the final selection in the first round. Kansas State edge rusher Felix Anudike-Uzomah — a Lee's Summit, Missouri, native who was actually in the hometown crowd that night — joined the Chiefs.
Three years later, unfortunately, the move has aged poorly.
Anudike-Uzomah was relegated to a rotational role over his first two seasons and delivered only three career sacks. He then missed his third season after a preseason hamstring injury a year ago.

10 predictions for 2026 NFL season: Division winners, trades | ESPN
The Chiefs will miss the playoffs again
Two things I think are equally true. First, the Chiefs got better this offseason. Second, it isn’t going to be enough.
Kansas City’s roster is once again quite shaky. The Chiefs did a commendable job of building around their tentpole players (Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Chris Jones) for a while. Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo’s uncanny ability to turn middle-round defensive backs into viable starters allowed them to endure the departures of Charvarius Ward, L’Jarius Sneed and Tyrann Mathieu. Offensive linemen were acquired — Joe Thuney and Orlando Brown Jr. — then quickly replaced.
But the well eventually runs dry. Jawaan Taylor was supposed to be a cornerstone at right tackle. Safety Chamarri Conner was supposed to be another Spagnuolo success story. Felix Anudike-Uzomah would bring much-needed juice on the edge. Wide receiver Hollywood Brown would alleviate the lost effect of Tyreek Hill. Contenders with pricey rosters must be constantly innovating in scheme and finding low-salaried contributors in both the draft and free agency. General manager Brett Veach failed to do his part, while coach Andy Reid’s offense grew stale.
