While the transfer window may be shut, Ajax are not quite done yet in reinforcing the squad. According to De Telegraaf, Ajax are just one of a number of sides keen on signing now former Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma. The 30-year-old is a free agent, having left Tottenham this summer. Other sides from top five leagues are interested in the former Tottenham man, so it is by no means guaranteed that Ajax will land the Malian international.
Yet Ajax have shown an ability to pull in some big named players this summer. Julian Brandt left Borussia Dortmund for Ajax during the recent transfer window and is already proving to be a good signing for the Dutch side.
Bissouma, when fit, would certainly add some quality to the Ajax midfield. Last year the Malian only managed 11 games for Tottenham. Overall, he played 111 games for Tottenham, scoring twice. Prior to that he excelled with Brighton after coming through the Lille system, having moved to France from Real Bamako as a teenager.

Thilo Kehrer has fallen down the pecking order at AS Monaco. The 29-year-old defender could leave the Principality club before the closure of the transfer window later this evening, as per a report from Foot Mercato.
Previously a key player for Les Monégasques, he looks set to be a second-choice option this season under new manager Filipe Luís. Keith Downie is reporting that Sunderland and Ajax have agreed a deal that will see Simon Adingra join the Dutch side on loan for the rest of the season. The former Brighton winger, who is currently injured, will join Ajax in the Eredivisie. Last season Sunderland spent £21.5m to bring in Adingra from Brighton, but the Ivorian only managed 15 appearances for the then recently promoted Sunderland. Adingra spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Monaco.
Adingra has a deal until 2030 with Sunderland, who will be hoping that a move to Ajax will help him rediscover some form or attract potential buyers next summer. Adingra came through at Danish side Nordsjaelland, scoring 12 goals in 40 games. In the summer of 2022 he joined Brighton before immediately being loaned out to Union St Gilloise in Belgium. Adingra was great for Union during the 2022/2023 season, scoring 14 goals in 51 games and providing 13 ******* ists. On his return to Brighton he played 73 games, with 12 goals and five ******* ists. He only scored once for Sunderland during his 15 games for the club. For Monaco, he played 17 games with three goals and two ******* ists.
Ajax will be hoping that a return to the low countries will bring out the form Adingra had shown during his time across the border with Union. Ajax have already signed one winger this summer, with Ukranian international Victor Tsygankov joining from Girona.

SV Werder Bremen have announced the signing of Youri Regeer who joins on a one-year loan from Ajax Amsterdam.
The Bundesliga club from the north of Germany have also secured an option to buy the 23-year-old for €5million next summer.
Regeer can play both in central midfield and as a right-back, adding necessary cover after the injury sustained by Jens Stage.

Lazio have officially announced their signing of Croatia international defender Josip Sutalo from Ajax on a season-long loan with an option to buy.

Reports in Italy claim that Lazio have agreed to pay Ajax a fee of €3m to sign Sutalo on loan for the 2026-27 season and that they will have an option to make the move permanent for an additional €7.5m at a later date.
Sutalo has spent the last three seasons at Ajax having joined in a €20.5m transfer from Dinamo Zagreb in the summer of 2023 and has since gone on to make 76 appearances in the Eredivisie and 108 across all competitions. He was named in the Eredivisie team of the season in 2024-25.

Lazio have reportedly secured the services of Croatian defender Josip Sutalo after reaching a full accord with Ajax.
This has been an eventful day for the Biancocelesti, who were supposed to complete the signing of Senegalese striker Bamba Dieng on a free transfer, but the deal has been called off due to a failed medical. But while Claudio Lotito and Angelo Fabiani are back to square one on the attacking front, they have apparently solved their defensive dilemma.
According to multiple sources in the Italian media, including Gianluca Di Marzio, Fabrizio Romano, and Damiano Er Faina, Lazio and Ajax have reached a final agreement on Sutalo's transfer. The 26-year-old will join the Italian capital side on an initial loan for €3 million with an option to buy set at €7.5 million, while the Amsterdam-based giants would receive a 10% cut in case of a future resale.
Sutalo is a Dynamo Zagreb youth product who climbed his way up the ranks to become a stalwart for both club and country. In 2023, he earned a €20 million move to Ajax and went on to make 108 appearances for the Dutch club.

Borussia Mönchengladbach have officially confirmed the return of ****** anese international Ko Itakura from Ajax. The 29-year-old centre-back signs a contract through 2030 after spending just one season in Amsterdam. Torrents will join former teammate Marc-André ter Stegen in Amsterdam.

Serie A side Udinese have been involved in a bit of a battle for Nicolo Zaniolo throughout this summer and the attacker has attracted interest from Ajax.
The Italian joined the Friulian side permanently in the summer but has been pushing to renew his contract, to earn better terms than the one initially agreed upon. This led to links with other clubs but soon, Udinese tied him down to a better deal.

Liverpool's pursuit of Bradley Barcola has dragged on long enough to invite doubt, noise and the usual transfer-window nonsense. Strip that away and the position looks fairly clear. Liverpool want the player, the player wants Liverpool, and Paris Saint-Germain may finally be approaching the point where keeping him becomes less important than cashing in at the right price.
That is the crux of the latest update, with credit to Ben Jacobs on GiveMeSport's Market Madness podcast. The key line remains unchanged: "Liverpool feel they've got that Barcola buy-in, so the only way someone else is going to beat Liverpool in Liverpool's eyes, at least, and I stress that's Liverpool's sources' perspective, is if they get completely outbid and then back away."
That matters because it frames this as a deal Liverpool believe they can still control. **** nal may admire Barcola, and plenty of elite clubs will keep an eye on any forward of this level, but admiration is cheap. Convincing the player is harder, and by all accounts Liverpool think they have done that part already.
The real development is not on Merseyside, it is in Paris. PSG are reshaping their attacking options, and once clubs start stockpiling players in the same area of the pitch, priorities change. As Jacobs explained, "And now, what is the domino or three dominoes really is Maghnes Akliouche coming in from Monaco, Ferran Torres coming in from Barcelona, plus the fact that Mika Godts is expected to join from Ajax. That's three attack-minded players, and suddenly PSG have more urgency to sell Barcola. So Liverpool have been playing a waiting game in order to see whether that 170 million euro price drops. Now PSG are about to add two more editions on top of Akliouche."
That is where this starts to look less like wishful thinking and more like sensible timing. Liverpool were never likely to sprint into a €170 million, £145m, agreement unless they had no alternative. They have already spent heavily in recent windows, and no serious club keeps throwing £100m-plus fees around without calculating the consequences. Waiting for market pressure to build on PSG was logical.

Napoli want a statement signing, and Gabriel Jesus has moved from fantasy to something far more concrete. According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, the Brazilian forward is firmly on the Italian club's radar as they look to sharpen their attack and restore momentum ahead of a season built around high expectations.
The logic is straightforward. Napoli have spent heavily already, with £86.5 million committed to permanent deals for Rasmus Hojlund, Alisson Santos and Lorenzo Lucca. That is proper money, even in a market where clubs often behave as though accounting is optional. The issue now is balance. Barcelona superstar Joan Garcia has now been registered with La Liga heading into the new season with a new shirt number.
The goalkeeper, who joined from RCD Espanyol last year, will wear the No. 1 kit this season, taking over the number left vacant by Marc-Andre ter Stegen following his loan move to Ajax.
Meanwhile, veteran star Wojciech Szczesny, who wore No. 25 after joining Barcelona, will take No. 13, which was vacated by the World Cup winner after he returned to training last Sunday.
Garcia's registration this season is very different from last year's, when Barcelona completed the process at the last possible moment.

Eli Lilly (NYSE:LLY) delivered a quarter that forced Wall Street to catch up to its own numbers. On August 5, the company reported second-quarter revenue of $23.0 billion, up 48% from a year earlier, and used the momentum to raise its full-year sales and profit targets. Shares moved higher the same day as investors focused on how fast the obesity franchise is still expanding.
The headline number came from Mounjaro and Zepbound. Mounjaro revenue jumped 91% to $9.9 billion, while Zepbound climbed 46% to $4.9 billion, and together they anchored a quarter where US sales rose 33% to $14.4 billion, and international sales rose 80% to $8.6 billion. Growth was not confined to the diabetes and obesity lineup either. Lilly's immunology, oncology, and neuroscience products grew a combined 121%, showing the newer parts of the portfolio are starting to contribute in a real way.
Management responded by lifting full-year revenue guidance to a range of $85 billion to $87 billion, up from $82 billion to $85 billion previously. Lilly is also plowing the cash back into its pipeline, closing acquisitions of Orna Therapeutics, Ajax Therapeutics, Centessa Pharmaceuticals, and Kelonia Therapeutics during the quarter, agreeing to buy AtaiBeckley afterward, and committing another $4.5 billion to expand manufacturing in Indiana. On the drug development side, three more Phase 3 trials of the experimental triple agonist retatrutide read out positively, giving Lilly a complete data package to support a planned obesity application submission in the first quarter of 2027.
The same quarter that produced 48% revenue growth also showed what that growth is costing. Realized prices fell 13% company-wide, with international pricing down 36% largely tied to Mounjaro's addition to China's national reimbursement drug list, a trade-off Lilly is making for volume and market access. The acquisition spree carried a real accounting price tag too. Acquired R&D charges hit $2.8 billion in the quarter, versus just $154 million a year earlier, which is why reported EPS grew only 26% even as the non-GAAP figure grew 33%.
Asset impairment and restructuring charges of $703 million, largely tied to the Kelonia and Centessa deals, added further drag, and the effective tax rate climbed to 23.3% from 16.5% because of the non-deductible nature of those charges. R&D spending rose 14% to $3.8 billion, and marketing and administrative costs rose 25% to $3.4 billion, a reminder that funding a pipeline this active and prepping for a wave of new launches is not cheap. None of this changes the underlying growth story, but it does mean the path from strong sales to clean reported profit is getting ****** pier as the deal-making continues.

Talk of Benjamin Tahirović joining Celtic has gathered plenty of attention in recent days, yet the story appears to have very little substance. Sport Witness, citing Tipsbladet journalist Farzam Abolhosseini, reports that claims of an agreed transfer are simply incorrect after checks were made with sources inside Brøndby IF.
Those reports first surfaced in Bosnian media before quickly spreading across Scotland, creating the impression that the move had reached its final stages. That picture doesn't match the information coming from Denmark. Club sources reportedly reacted with clear frustration, insisting there was "nothing to it" and calling for the speculation to end. Although Tahirović is expected to leave Brøndby this summer, Glasgow isn't viewed as his next destination.
That doesn't mean Celtic have never admired the midfielder. Both Celtic and Rangers monitored the Bosnia and Herzegovina international before he left Ajax for Brøndby in February 2025. Since then, though, no formal negotiations or fresh offer have emerged. Brøndby's sporting director Julius Ohnesorge and manager Thomas Nørgaard have openly admitted the player is searching for a transfer. During the 2025/26 Danish Superliga campaign, the 23-year-old played 25 league matches, scoring once and adding one ****** ist.

Even with the rumours dismissed, it's easy to understand why Tahirović appealed. Being 6ft 3in, he brings physical attributes that Celtic's midfield lacks. He breaks up attacks, wins aerial duels and keeps possession moving without unnecessary risks. Those traits were shaped through his development at AS Roma and Ajax before earning regular football in Denmark.
