Juventus suffered a 3-2 defeat away to Sassuolo in an entertaining encounter, while Milan produced an impressive fightback at Lazio. The Rossoneri found themselves two goals behind but battled back to secure a 2-2 draw and take a valuable point from the Olimpico.
Napoli, meanwhile, continued their positive start with a narrow 1-0 victory over Bologna, adding another three points to their tally in a tightly contested match.

Diego Moreira admits he needed a little more time to adapt to Serie A and Milan after scoring twice against Lazio, but Mario Gila confessed their 'first half was honestly disastrous.'
This was a truly chaotic encounter at the Stadio Olimpico, as Lazio had been leading comfortably 2-0 at the break thanks to goals from Matteo Cancellieri and Tijjani Noslin.

Spectacular goals, peerless technique and a true Nerazzurri heart: born in Belgrade on 11 September 1978, Dejan Stankovic celebrates his 48th birthday today. Deki spent nine years in Nerazzurri colours, from January 2004 to 2013, making 326 appearances, scoring 42 goals and lifting an incredible 15 trophies: one Champions League, one FIFA Club World Cup, five Scudetti, and the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana four times apiece. Those achievements also earned him a place in the Club's Hall of Fame, fitting recognition of his deep bond with the Nerazzurri. To mark his birthday, Internazionale Morning Club looks back on his Inter journey through the story of one unforgettable match: the 4-3 derby victory over AC Milan on 28 October 2006.
Take a moment to picture the goal you would most like to score if you were a footballer. Your first thought is probably the right one: a goal from the halfway line. Perhaps even on the volley. Now imagine not merely dreaming of it, but actually doing it. And then doing it again in a Champions League quarter-final. This is no dream. This is Dejan Stankovic.
And yet, on reflection, perhaps there was no single position in which Dejan Stankovic was irreplaceable. He could play anywhere in a flat 4-4-2 or a midfield diamond. Look at it just as objectively, however, and it becomes impossible to leave the Serbian midfielder out of any all-time Inter XI. Indeed, he is almost always there. He went straight into the Club's Hall of Fame in 2019, receiving more votes than any other midfielder.
It is difficult to name an aspect of the game at which Deki did not excel. We have already mentioned his shooting: there were plenty of goals, and they always seemed to matter. Four came in derbies, for starters. Two arrived during the 2009/10 Champions League campaign, helping Inter emerge unbeaten from testing group-stage encounters away to Rubin Kazan and at home to Dynamo Kyiv - two important steps on the road to Champions League success.
Choosing one defining moment is no easy task. It would be all too obvious to celebrate those two masterpieces from the halfway line - or, in truth, from even farther out. Their time will come. Instead, we have chosen another: a goal scored in a derby that all but confirmed a shift in the balance of power in Milano. After two decades in which the Rossoneri generally held the upper hand, from 1986 to 2006, the 20 years since have largely belonged to the Nerazzurri.

Ruben Amorim admits Milan 'didn't deserve to win, or more like Juventus didn't deserve to lose' after their 1-1 draw in Turin. 'We need to move more and be braver.'
The Rossoneri had struggled to create any genuine scoring opportunities in Turin and thanked first Mike Maignan, then the frame of the goal for keeping out Francisco Conceicao.

Substitute Alphadjo Cisse gave them the lead somewhat against the run of play with a well-taken angled drive through Pierre Kalulu's legs, but in stoppages Federico Gatti nodded in the Teun Koopmeiners cross for the late equaliser.
It means both Milan and Juventus lose their 100 per cent start to the Serie A season, dropping points in this head-to-head.

Youssouf Fofana (27) is closing in on a return to Ligue 1 football. The former AS Monaco midfielder is set to leave AC Milan to join Lyon on loan with an option to buy, according to Gianluca di Marzio. The 27-year-old has been informed by Milan head coach Ruben Amorim that he was not part of his plans for the season. The Frenchman didn't make Milan's matchday squad for the team's first two Serie A games.
Fofana joined AC Milan from AS Monaco for a €26m transfer fee back in the summer of 2024. He went on to feature 88 times for I Rossoneri. Di Marzio understands that negotiations are now at an advanced stage between Milan and Lyon on the basis of a loan with an option to buy.
Fofana's arrival could mean that Lyon will part ways with one of their defensive-minded midfielders. It could be Tanner Tessmann, who ws reportedly of interest for several Premier League sides.

After making a strong impression in Ligue 1 and Serie A, Rafael Leão is leaving Europe's top five leagues to move to Turkey.
The now former AC Milan winger has signed for Galatasaray for a transfer fee estimated at €38 million, according to the Istanbul club's statement. The Rossoneri are also said to have secured a 20% sell-on clause.
Long expected to join the Premier League, particularly Aston Villa, Leão was ultimately won over by Galatasaray's sporting and financial arguments.
Voted Serie A's best player in 2022, the Portuguese dribbling specialist joins the growing list of stars who have chosen to move to the Süper Lig this year, including N'Golo Kanté, Romelu Lukaku, Mohamed Salah, Leandro Trossard, and Dušan Vlahović.
Leão leaves AC Milan behind with a mixed legacy: that of a dynamic and likeable forward, but one too often plagued by inconsistency.

AC Milan return to Serie A for Matchday 2 with their first home game of the season, hosting Venezia on Friday.
The Rossoneri arrive at San Siro on a wave of confidence after a tight 2-1 away win at Torino. Under Rúben Amorim, Milan's attack looked lively and well-drilled, with second-half goals from teenage forward Alphadjo Cissé and Adrien Rabiot deciding the contest. That result follows a strong end to pre-season, capped by a notable 4-2 victory over Manchester United. The squad appears well-balanced and cohesive as they seek tcapitaliseze on home advantage.
The squad remains highly robust, though several adjustments will change their setup.
Midfielder Samuele Ricci has been officially excluded from the squad as he moves closer to a finalised loan to Como. Christian Pulisic has returned to training following a lower-leg issue, but he is expected mainly as an impact substitute off the bench.
Youth prospect Alphadjo Cisse heavily impressed during the opening matchday and is likely to retain his place.

Multiple outlets are reporting that Milan and RB Leipzig have come to an agreement over the price and structure of a transfer for Frenchman Christopher Nkunku, who looks set to return to his former club after being shown to the San Siro exit by new Rossoneri head coach Ruben Amorim.
Amorim has made it clear that Nkunku, along with Fikayo Tomori, Youssouf Fofana and Santiago Gimenez, will not be part of his plans for the 2026-27 campaign, which for Milan, gets underway away against Torino on Sunday evening.

Nkunku is surplus to requirements in San Siro and reports over the last few days have claimed that his former club Leipzig are keen to offer him a return to the Bundesliga.
According to the latest updates in both Germany and Italy on Sunday claim that an agreement between the two clubs has now been reached over an initial season-long loan deal at a cost of €4m and an option to buy for an additional €28m for an overall cost of €32m.

Rafael Leao will not be part of the Milan squad for their opening Serie A match of the season away against Torino at 19.45 BST on Sunday evening as Ruben Amorim gets his tenure as Rossoneri head coach underway.
Milan are looking to bounce back after a bitterly disappointing end to the 2025-26 campaign, which saw them finish outside of the Serie A top four despite spending much of the season in second place. Aside from their new players, the club also has a new head coach and an entire new senior management team after parting ways with Massimiliano Allegri, Igli Tare, Geoffrey Moncada and Giorgio Furlani the day after the 2025-26 season ended.

The headline, club-record signing Goncalo Ramos is expected to lead the Rossoneri attack in Turin on Sunday evening, as is Mario Gila at centre-back, but this is likely to be one too soon for Diego Moreira.
Amorim confirmed on Saturday that Leao will not be part of the travelling squad, insisting that it is due to injury rather than transfer business, and with Christian Pulisic not yet back to full match fitness, there could be a starting opportunity for 19-year-old Alphadjo Cisse in attack.

AC Milan travel to the Stadio Olimpico to open their Serie A season against Torino on Sunday.
The Rossoneri arrive with mixed but exciting form heading into Rúben Amorim's first competitive match in charge. They ended pre-season on a high with a 4-2 win over Manchester United, though that result came after a heavy 3-0 loss to Chelsea. Milan's end to last season was inconsistent — they lost seven of their final 13 league games — so making a statement in the opener is a priority.
Amorim starts his 2026/27 campaign with some selection problems. Star winger Rafael Leão is out with a recent muscle strain, and forward Santi Giménez is sidelined by an ankle sprain.
Still, club-record signing Gonçalo Ramos is fit and expected to lead the line. New summer signing Mario Gila is available to make his competitive debut, likely joining Strahinja Pavlović in Amorim's preferred three-man defence.
Samuel Chukwueze looks set to keep his energetic pre-season role as a right wing-back, while veteran Luka Modrić will bring experience and control through midfield as Milan chase a convincing start.

The latest updates in Italy claim that Christopher Nkunku has 'said yes' to the idea of returning to his former club RB Leipzig and that Milan will be seeking a fee of up to €35m to send the Frenchman out on loan with an option or potential obligation to buy.
Nkunku is considered surplus to requirements under newly-appointed Milan head coach Ruben Amorim and is widely expected to leave the club before the close of the summer transfer window.

His former club RB Leipzig are among the clubs hoping to agree a deal with the Rossoneri and are currently 'leading the race' according to various reports in Italy. Newcastle United has also been mentioned as a potential destination.
According to the latest updates from Sky Sport transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Nkunku has recently agreed to the idea of returning to Leipzig this summer, which is considered a crucial step in the talks between the Frenchman, Milan and the Bundesliga club.

Aston Villa are reported to have made enquiries to explore the terms of a potential transfer for AC Milan player Christopher Nkunku (28), according to reports from Onze Mondial.
The forward, who is said to have been placed on the transfer list by his new manager Ruben Amorim, is also reportedly on the radar of Newcastle United, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig. Turkish and Saudi clubs are also said to be monitoring his situation, whilst the Rossoneri are reportedly open to the idea of loaning him out.
Having arrived in Lombardy from Chelsea for a fee of €37m a yeard ago, Nkunku made 35 appearances (17 as a starter) across all competitions last season, proving decisive on 11 occasions, scoring eight goals and providing three ***** ists.
Making two appearances during the Milan club's pre-season, he notably scored a goal against rivals Inter Milan. Nevertheless, Amorim considered these performances to be insufficient to convince him to rely on his strengths for the upcoming campaign.

Galatasaray have opened talks with AC Milan over a possible move for Christopher Nkunku, joining an increasingly crowded field of suitors for the forward as he edges towards the Rossoneri exit door.
According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the Turkish club began discussions with Milan's hierarchy on Monday, having already been tracking Rafael Leao for some time.
Nkunku was left out of Ruben Amorim's plans earlier this month, one of four players told they could leave San Siro before the season begins.

Serie A side Milan are now keen on selling attacker Christopher Nkunku, who has attracted interest from Newcastle United. But for now, RB Leipzig are making advances over a move.
MilanNews report that the Rossoneri are awaiting formal approaches for the Frenchman, with the Magpies and the German club in the race for him.
Gianluca Di Marzio has reported further, claiming that Leipzig have made an initial approach for Nkunku. They have made contact with his entourage and are now attempting to sign him on an initial loan deal with the option to buy.
This formula doesn't suit Milan, who are only looking to sell him permanently for a fee of €35 million.
The player hasn't made a final decision about his next club yet, with the report also indicating that other clubs — possibly like Newcastle United, could be in the race for the 28-year-old's signature.

Milan roared back in the transfer market and quenched their thirst for a new wing-back by purchasing one of the most coveted ones, Diego Moreira from Strasbourg, Sky reports.
Like in their previous big deals, the Rossoneri emptied their coffers to edge out the competition and seal the deal quickly to quash any attempts to hijack it. They'll pay a €45M fee plus hefty bonuses up to €20M, part which will be hard to activate. Instead, his wages will be relatively modest.
Milan beat in particular RB Leipzig for Moreira, while Roma had targeted him earlier in the summer. The Giallorossi had tendered €35M plus €10M add-ons and a 10 percent sell-on clause. He conspicuously posted a picture donning the Rossoneri jersey in early August.
The 22-year-old got his start at Benfica and had a cup of coffee at Olympique Lyonnais before being signed by Chelsea. He was an afterthought in London and returned to France a year later, blooming over the past two campaigns at Strasbourg. He registered 7 goals and 16 **** ists in 76 appearances and was part of Belgium's World Cup squad, although he appeared just once, making an impact in their comeback versus Senegal.
They surely don't beat around the bush when they really want somebody. Only time will tell whether these big fees will come back to bite them. Instead, from a technical standpoint, there are no notes. They were thin and weak on the wings, he can handle multiple positions, giving Ruben Amorim another versatile man to play with, and, at worst, he'll bring a lot of juice. A formation featuring him and Alexis Saelemaekers wide and two no.10s behind Gonçalo Ramos will be hard to stop.

According to the report, Leipzig have been 'pushing' in recent hours, knowing that Nkunku is not part of Milan's plans.

Newcastle United are reportedly the favourites ahead of Aston Villa for Milan striker Christopher Nkunku at €30m, while Santiago Gimenez is close to FC Porto.

Matthias Jaissle is at St James' Park with Xabi Alonso at Stamford Bridge with Chelsea. Newcastle United have entered the race to sign AC Milan attacker Christopher Nkunku, according to journalist Matteo Moretto.
Nkunku's time at San Siro is set to end abruptly just twelve months after his €37m move from Chelsea. New Milan head coach Ruben Amorim does not see the Frenchman in his plans, leaving him out of recent pre-season squads as the Rossoneri reshape their attack. With Milan ready to part ways, a host of European clubs are lining up a move.
Newcastle are aiming to position themselves among the frontrunners. The Magpies have contacted Nkunku's representatives to discuss personal terms and explore the financial framework of a deal. Head coach Matthias Jaissle is determined to add proven European pedigree to his attack, with Nkunku offering versatility as a central striker, second forward, or attacking midfielder.
German sides RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund are also interested, with Leipzig exploring a reunion with their former talisman, who scored 70 goals and provided 45 ******* ists in four years at the club. There is also reported interest from clubs in Spain and Italy.
Despite strong interest from Spain and Germany, Newcastle's financial resources and the appeal of Premier League football could give them an edge. Nkunku is keen to secure regular first-team football in a top league to get his career back on track after a difficult year.

Ruben Amorim is said to be studying a new role for Adrien Rabiot as a trequartista behind striker Goncalo Ramos, therefore giving someone else a chance in midfield.

It's no secret that Milan are open to considering offers for their star forward Rafa Leão. And why they are receiving offers, none of them have come close to prise him away from San Siro.
The Rossoneri recently rejected a €35m offer from Galatasaray, while journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed that the 27-year-old was recently offered to several Premier League clubs, one of them being Leeds United.
Milan want close to €50 million for Leão, who in turn will want his suitors to at least match his current €7m-per-year contract, if not offer him an improved one.
But amidst all of this, with pre-season drawing to a close and the new season upon us, one must ask: is it really that untenable for Leão in Milan? Could he not stay?
He very much can and, in fact, that is something he may want to do.

For months, it has been expected that Milan's misfiring star forward Rafa Leão will be moved on this summer.
For weeks, there have been links to the Saudi Pro League, the Süper Lig, as well as distant whispers from the Premier League, while the 27-year-old has also featured for Ruben Amorim in pre-season, hinting that staying at the club is also not out of the question.
And if the latest offer Milan have received for him is anything to go by, they may very well choose to keep him on board.
As reported by the Gianluca Di Marzio, the Rossoneri recently received an offer for Leão from Turkish giants Galatasaray amounting to €30 million plus bonuses worth €5 million, which they have rejected.
The offer falls well short of the €50m valuation Milan are expected to start negotiations at, with the Portugal international still having two more years remaining on his €7m-per-year contract.

Serie A side Milan are still keen on making an attacking signing and Midtjylland star Dario Osorio has emerged as a target.
MilanNews offer the news and also look at some vital reasons why the 22-year-old is a target.
One key factor is the involvement of Simon Kjaer, who had a spell with the Rossoneri and currently finds himself as a member of the board at Midtjylland. He has already given interviews in Italy about a host of players at the Danish side and even name-dropping Osorio.
This could allow Milan a working connection that can work in their favour.
Another reason is that Osorsio isn't just a player who is liked now. He has been followed for a long time. He was first brought to the Rossoneri desk in January 2023, when Paolo Maldini was still at the club and he even tried to bring him to the San Siro.
