Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil sued Columbia University on Monday, alleging it failed to address harassment against him and other members of a pro-Palestinian campus group and retaliated against them when they reported it.
The university's "deliberate indifference" led to the doxing of multiple group members and Khalil's detention by immigration agents, according to the civil rights lawsuit filed in federal court in New York City.
At a news conference announcing the lawsuit, Khalil accused the university of "discrimination aimed at intimidating Palestinian students."
"We are suing because no student, regardless of their background, should go through the **** that Columbia put us through over all these years," he said.
The university declined to comment on the lawsuit, but said in an email that "creating a campus environment where every member of our community feels welcome, supported, and safe is fundamental to who we are as a University."

White House border czar Tom Homan confirmed on "The Sunday Briefing" that the Department of Homeland Security is looking into allegations involving Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., but would not disclose details about what he described as an "ongoing criminal investigation."
Pressed on whether the federal government has evidence that Omar committed immigration or naturalization fraud, Homan declined to comment.

Michael Page won significantly more times than he lost in the UFC, yet it still wasn't enough to sway the promotion to keep him around after his contract expired.
The former Bellator superstar entered the UFC with plenty of fanfare in 2024, scoring a clear-cut unanimous decision win against Kevin Holland at UFC 299. Page, 39, styled on Holland in vintage fashion, utilizing his flashy striking skills to outpoint the veteran in a welterweight showdown. As it turned out, though, finishes — or even similarly entertaining performances — failed to materialize in Page's subsequent five UFC appearances.
Despite winning four straight fights, capped off by his fight against Nursulton Ruziboev at UFC Paris, the promotion opted not to re-sign Page without even having a discussion.
Speaking on Monday's edition of "The Ariel Helwani Show," Page vented his frustrations, saying he felt disrespected by the entire close to his UFC run.
"I had goals to achieve, so regardless of anything, I was winning my fights, which says to me you get to stay," Page told Uncrowned. "That's the premise of this game. Success should breed more opportunities. So, I still felt like we'd sit down at the table.

The Boston Celtics have reportedly signed Devin Carter to a training camp deal, per HoopsHype's Michael Scotto. Carter, 24, will have the opportunity to either earn a spot on Boston's main NBA roster or to join Amari Williams and Dillon Mitchell as one of the Celtics' three two-way talents. Should he sign a two-way deal, he would be expected to spend the majority of the season with the Maine Celtics. Still, it's fair to ******* ume he'd get a chance to impress with the NBA roster at some point, too.
Unfortunately, the decision to sign Carter doesn't come without a potential roster casualty. Milos Uzan has been with the Celtics since signing an Exhibit 10 contract earlier this summer. Uzan instantly impressed when suiting up for the Celtics during Las Vegas Summer League, where he averaged 9.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4 ******* ists per game, shooting 36.8 percent from 3-point range and 38.1 percent from the field.
Following John Tonje's decision to join the Portland Trail Blazers on a two-way deal earlier in the offseason, the path for Uzan to earn the final two-way spot with the Celtics appeared wide open. Sure, he'd have to impress during training camp and beat out Tucker DeVries, but given Boston's need for a depth piece at guard, everything seemed to be lining up.
Now, with Carter also in the mix, Uzan is facing a far tougher battle to prove himself and earn a two-way spot with the Celtics. Uzan is a talented young guard and should have no problem finding a home in the coming months if things do not go his way.
Hopefully, he remains in Maine regardless of whether he gets a two-way deal. After all, he could still work with the Celtics' developmental staff and potentially prove the front office wrong for signing Carter, should that come to pass. Of course, Uzan will likely draw interest from elsewhere if Carter does beat Uzan to the Celtics' final two-way spot, and unfortunately for Uzan, that's just part of trying to make it in the NBA.

Chris Buescher's Gateway weekend hit a snag before his No. 17 Ford ever reached the starting grid.
NASCAR ejected two car chiefs Saturday after a pair of Cup Series cars failed pre-race inspection twice at World Wide Technology Raceway.
Buescher's No. 17 RFK Racing Ford and Cody Ware's No. 51 Rick Ware Racing Chevrolet each required three trips through inspection before being cleared. The two failures resulted in the ejection of No. 17 car chief Joshua Sisco and No. 51 car chief Dave Jones for the remainder of the race weekend.
Both teams also lost their pit-stall selection for Sunday's Enjoy Illinois 300, leaving them with the final available stalls on pit road regardless of where their drivers qualified.
The consequences stop there, however. Both cars passed inspection on their third attempts, avoiding the additional penalties that would have come with another failure.

At 27, Rybakina is the second-oldest woman to ever ascend to world No. 1 in the rankings for the first time. Gauff will be the fan favorite. She was not at her top level in her quarterfinal victory over Mirra Andreeva, but she still got the job done to advance. Gauff beat Sabalenka in the 2023 US Open final and the 2025 French Open final. She's seeking her third major at age-22.

Tyrique Stevenson hasn't always had the smoothest tenure with the Chicago Bears. But it's easy to let specific demonstrations of lapses in judgment or other second-year struggles back in 2024 get in the way of the perception of a player that actually improved considerably in 2025.
After grading as the league's 86th-ranked (of 117) cornerback two years ago, Stevenson worked his way up to 50th last season with an overall grade of 64.4 from Pro Football Focus. Much of that, however, was pinned down by a 70th-ranked grade in coverage (59.6), despite an 85.5 run defense grade that had him third at the position. Even that former number was, technically, an improvement from the year prior.
Regardless of Stevenson's upside or limitations (the spectrum of which fans have seen both sides across his three seasons), this is a player obsessed with exactly one thing.

It's official: Skip Bayless is going back to ESPN, where he will join Stephen A. Smith to make recurring appearances on First Take beginning this month.
Smith made the announcement Friday afternoon while Bayless was joining him on his SiriusXM Mad Dog Sports Radio show. The duo announced Bayless will join Smith every Friday on SiriusXM, and the last Friday of every month on First Take.
"Let me alert the public to what's going on," Smith began. "On Fridays, yours truly and the one and only Skip Bayless will be joining me on this show. So, let's get that out the way. That's every Friday, the beatdown is coming, my condolences to you. Why It Matters: You never want to read too much into a single game, particularly in Week 1, but it was surprising to see how much burn Kaelon Black got. Perhaps some early big hits on CMC played a role. Perhaps San Francisco's ability to work from in front was the reason. Regardless, the rookie carried the ball 14 times in Melbourne. For comparison, last year's backup Brian Robinson averaged 5.4 carries per game and never had more than nine in a single game. McCaffrey still turned 15 touches into a respectable 88 yards, and he'll belong right back in your lineup as an RB1 in Week 2. It's a situation that bears watching, however.

To say Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is a little outspoken would be like saying the Chernobyl disaster was a minor inconvenience. The four-time MVP isn't afraid to share his opinions, and he let loose in the most recent episode of Not Just Football with Cam Heyward.
The episode wasted no time getting into Rodgers' thoughts on why he believes he's so polarizing, to which he called out "hypocrisy" in the media.
"Everybody loved hearing my takes on Colin Kaepernick when I said he was one of the top 64 quarterbacks in the league," Rodgers said. "They loved my takes when there was a shooting that occurred years and years ago during Obama's presidency. Somebody yelled out some anti-muslim rhetoric during the moment of silence, which I thought was so disrespectful. And I said after the game, the first thing I said was, 'There's no place for that kind of hate in this world. Regardless of what happened [or] what you think happened.'… I said something about that and President Obama sent me a hand-written note afterward. And everybody loved that part. They enjoyed my takes. Mina Kimes had me to her house for a feature I did. All of these people were my friends in the media. Until I came about against COVID."
It's not exactly disputable that Rodgers gets no benefit of the doubt from the media after being a genuine media favorite for a long time. To tie it back to his vaccination status is probably pretty on point.

CNBC reported that Chris Churchman, The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. (NYSE:GS) partner who leads the bank's Marquee digital platform for institutional clients, warned that AI's spread across Wall Street risks eroding the reasoning skills of the next generation of bankers.
Churchman said on Goldman's internal "Exchanges" podcast, "There's a huge danger here that in the era of AI, we outsource our reasoning to these models, and we have cognitive atrophy that stops us being able to reason from first principles ourselves." He compared it to how GPS and search engines eroded navigation skills and said much of banking's knowledge is learned only "by doing." Churchman said the firm has not yet determined how it will manage the transition.
The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. (NYSE:GS) is surfacing this risk proactively, through its own senior AI leadership, rather than being caught off guard by it later. Having the executive who leads Marquee flag the danger publicly signals internal scrutiny that could help Goldman build safeguards into its AI rollout before problems show up in deal execution. It is an advantage over firms deploying AI without asking the same questions.
The near-term efficiency case for AI remains fully intact regardless of the long-term talent question. CNBC itself framed the tradeoff as a "devil's bargain" that could make the industry more profitable today while potentially eroding the talent it needs for tomorrow. It means Goldman still captures AI's productivity benefits now even as it works out the downstream risk.
Marquee itself is a genuine strategic **** et getting AI investment. The platform, through which hedge funds and other large institutional clients access Goldman's market data, research, **** ytics, and execution tools, is being built out with AI features, which positions it as a differentiated offering for Goldman's most valuable client relationships.

It's not the first time, nor will it be the last. This past Saturday, College GameDay devoted a segment to the upcoming vote on the Protect College Sports Act this week in Congress. Regardless of your political leanings, a college football pregame show devoted time at the official kickoff of the season to publicly support national legislation with no representation of the opposing view.
Is this the new normal? Is this the expectation moving forward? Without question, college football needs some sort of reform. But is this act the fix? And should it be debated on a college football pregame show to kick off a new season of Saturdays in the fall? If Saturday was an example, where was the debate? There was none.
I'm not naive enough to believe sports and politics have never mixed on sports television programming. I've always argued that if there is a direct connection between sports and a political debate, then engage. But engage properly. Except, Saturday provided a moment where the intersection was direct. However, the forum was not open to the other side.
Instead, this was lobbying. Not discussion. This was advocacy, not debate.
Yes, Nick Saban is a staunch supporter of the act proposed in Congress. In fact, he testified before a Senate committee in support of the bill and appears in a commercial supporting it. Yes, Pat McAfee is also a supporter of the act. He's said as much on his daily sports talk program.

At his best, Murray is a playmaker at quarterback who can extend plays or create explosive gains with his legs. But Murray hasn't led a team to a winning record as a starter since 2021, and his career passer rating is 92.2. Last season, Murray played in only five games, and he hasn't appeared in a regular season game since Oct. 5 of 2025. Can he provide a higher baseline of play at quarterback in Minnesota, and is he more than just another stopgap?

PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University's Ol' Crimson flag has been named the first recipient of ESPN College GameDay's new Hall of Fan honor, recognizing a tradition that has appeared on the program for 338 consecutive broadcasts.
ESPN announced the recognition Saturday as the flag continued a streak that began in 2003.
According to ESPN, the Hall of Fan honor was created to recognize fans and traditions **** ociated with the long-running college football pregame show.
Ol' Crimson has become a regular presence behind the College GameDay set regardless of where the show is held. The tradition began when WSU alumnus Tom Pounds brought a Washington State flag to a GameDay broadcast in Austin, Texas, in 2003.
"I made a flag, and I just went out in the crowd and waved the flag and thought that was the end of it," Pounds said in comments provided by the university.

The issue of temperament is where Buffett and Pooh intersect. That's because the S&P 500 index's (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC) history shows that Wall Street switches between bull and bear markets in a zigzag fashion, while generally moving higher over time. The chart below shows that simply buying and holding the S&P 500 index would have yielded a positive long-term outcome if you had the temperament to do nothing while it gyrated in the short term.
In fact, Warren Buffett has actually suggested that most investors would be better off just buying the S&P 500 index and... doing nothing. That's not entirely true; Buffett would likely recommend continuing to regularly buy an S&P 500 index ETF, such as SPDR S&P 500 ETF (NYSEMKT: SPY) or Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (NYSEMKT: VOO), regardless of market conditions.

For the first time in recent memory, the market doesn't have much of an idea of what the Federal Reserve will do with interest rates at its September meeting. We're less than two weeks away from the Fed's decision, and investors aren't sure whether to expect a rate hike for the first time since 2023 or if the Fed will hold rates steady.
According to the CME FedWatch tool, which monitors how the market is pricing future interest rate movements, there's roughly a 40% chance that rates won't move and a 60% chance of a rate hike. Roughly half of the voting committee favors a hike, and Chair Kevin Warsh didn't offer any forward guidance at Jackson Hole last week. In short, there is considerable uncertainty.

Because of this uncertainty, many investors feel it's time to pump the brakes on investing or do something different with new money. The Rams released a depth chart that shows Stetson Bennett as the team's second quarterback and first-round pick Ty Simpson as their third quarterback, but head coach Sean McVay said things are less clear cut than that would make it appear.
McVay said that he has not made a decision about who will be active for Thursday's game against the 49ers because he views the two quarterbacks on equal footing when it comes to the competition to be the next man up behind Matthew Stafford.
"I'll tell you when I decide who is going to be the actual two in the game," McVay said, via the team's website. "I've talked to the players about it, but that's something that they're both going to continue to train regardless of who it ends up being up and who is the emergency third. I look at it as both of those guys are going to play, but you saw, we listed Stetson as the two, Ty as the three. But I look at it as the 2A, 2B and we'll see how we approach the game."
McVay added that he doesn't "want to necessarily say that whatever we do in Week 1 is how it stays throughout the year," so the backup spot could be a fluid one and the Rams will be hoping that neither player sees the field outside of garbage time between now and February.

Michael Atherton has questioned the authority of Babar Azam and the role Pakistan's captains are allowed to play after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) made sweeping changes to the Test squad midway through the England series.

Pakistan suffered defeats in the opening two Tests and responded by sending seven players home. Mohammad Rizwan, Salman Ali Agha and Imam-ul-Haq were among those removed from the squad, while coaches Sarfaraz Ahmed and Umar Gul were also asked to leave.

Mike Hesson will now take charge of the team for the third and final Test at Edgbaston, beginning on September 9.

The scale of the changes has placed Babar under increasing scrutiny. Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif had already argued that Babar should have resigned after the seven players were sent home, while also branding him a "dummy captain".

Atherton has now questioned whether Babar, or indeed any Pakistan captain, has enough influence within the setup to lead effectively following such a major intervention from the board.

The former England captain believes the changes could have lasting consequences for Pakistan, regardless of what happens in the final Test.

"Not in this instance, no, because of the damage it will do in the long term. This is no way to manage players and no way to build a long-term vision at all," Atherton said on the Sky Sports Cricket Podcast.

"I feel it's a horrible position for a captain, Babar Azam, to be in - and what kind of authority does he or indeed any captain of Pakistan have in this outfit?" he added.
Atherton suggested that the events of the England tour could make it extremely difficult for Babar to establish authority over the Pakistan dressing room.

He acknowledged that modern-day captains do not have the same control they once enjoyed, but insisted that a captain still needs to have a meaningful say in the team's affairs.

"One understands that the captain is not all-powerful these days, you're not going back 30 years ago when they perhaps ran the show, but they have to have some authority within a team," said Atherton.

The former England captain then raised a question over how Babar can move forward after the PCB's intervention.

"Given what's happened, how do you lead that team now?" he added.
Babar reclaimed Pakistan's Test captaincy from Shan Masood earlier this year after Bangladesh defeated Pakistan in their two-match series.

His side subsequently drew the series against the West Indies before travelling to England.

The 31-year-old missed the first Test against England because of an injury, but returned for the second match at Lord's.

His comeback, however, did little to ease Pakistan's batting problems. Babar scored only 8 and 6 as Pakistan suffered another heavy defeat.

England won the Lord's Test by 194 runs to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
