With 2.5 weeks remaining in the regular season, those in the fantasy baseball playoffs should be focused on adding players with favorable schedules in the coming days. The list this week includes hitters to stream this weekend (Henry Bolte, Jeff McNeil, Colt Keith) as well as those who should be added by Monday (Ty France, Mickey Moniak, Cole Carrigg).
The same can be said on the pitching side, as those who need a weekend streamer can skip to the bottom of this article.
Ty France, 1B, Padres, 31%: France has been one of baseball's best hitters in the second half, batting .324 with a .937 OPS. Unfortunately, he remains on waivers in many leagues, as managers opt to chase an influx of exciting rookies rather than adding a boring veteran. But that should change over the weekend, as France and his teammates will open next week with four games at Coors Field against a Rockies pitching staff that ranks last in baseball with a 5.50 ERA. Managers in deeper formats could also consider Jake Cronenworth (6%), who has hit second in the lineup of late, or catcher Luis Campusano (1%), who is working as a DH often enough to keep him in the regular lineup.
Mickey Moniak, OF, Rockies, 26%: Moniak has some similarities to France, as a boring veteran who is having his productive season overshadowed by a constant stream of youngsters on the waiver wire. The 28-year-old has been terrific at home (.957 OPS) and against right-handers (.835 OPS) this season, which makes him a potential league-winner next week when the Rockies play seven games at their hitter-friendly home park, including five versus right-handed starters. Those who cannot add Moniak can consider his teammate, Cole Carrigg (15%).

Despite matching the Cleveland Guardian's hit total with seven, the Colorado Rockies went 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position and left five runners on base, while also striking out nine times on Star Wars night on Saturday at Coors Field. In the end, the difference was a three-run homer for Jo Adell, while the Rockies went yard twice, but they were both solo shots from Connor Norby and Mikey Moniak.
The loss was the fifth in a row for the Rockies and eighth straight at home.
Through three innings, Gabriel Hughes was cruising. He only needed 32 pitches. He gave up one infield single, forced four ground outs and struck out one. He was effective because he was throwing strikes and not falling behind hitters. He led off the second by striking out Jo Adell.

WARSAW (AP) — A Russian plan to kill a Ukrainian American citizen in Warsaw was thwarted by Poland before it could be carried out, the Polish prime minister said Thursday, adding it was the first time that "someone on the order of Russia" sought to attack a U.S. citizen on the territory of another NATO country.
Western officials have previously warned that Russia stepped up a campaign of targeted killings since President Vladimir Putin's 2022 invasion of Ukraine, saying they have disrupted several plots across Europe. But Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said this incident was unprecedented.
The suspect, who was allegedly recruited by Russia's secret services, was detained by Polish authorities on Aug. 7. He will be held in custody for three months, the Warsaw police said in a statement.
The American Ukrainian citizen "was uncomfortable for the Putin regime," Tusk said in a news conference, without elaborating.

Karros hit his game-tying shot in the sixth off D-backs lefty Mitch Bratt that made it 2-all. In the bottom of the inning, he had to exit the game after colliding with shortstop Ezequiel Tovar while both players were trying to field a ground ball.
Karros appeared to hit his head and looked dazed while he sat on the ground for a few minutes, but the third baseman was eventually able to walk off the field. The Rockies didn't have an immediate update on the injury.

However, the Rockies offense stalled after the fourth inning, and the Rays got back in the game ultimately winning 9-7 in extra innings.

Weird things happen when the Colorado Rockies and San Diego Padres get together, and tonight's game was one of many such occasions in the history of this rivalry. The first of two in San Diego had it all. Terrible defense, many different pitchers, chair interference, multiple ejections from the Padres' bench—including manager Craig Stammen—and finally a walk-off loss after more than three hours.
"We all kept going," manager Warren Schaeffer **** sed after the game. "Back and forth ballgame, really good big-league ballgame in terms of back-and-forth. Some big offensive moments. Two big at-bats for [Ezequiel Tovar] today. Big homer from [Mickey Moniak], Willi [Castro] — a couple of good walks from Willi, and Cole [Carrigg] just moving the line.
"Scoring 7 runs on the road, that's pretty good," he continued. "[We] scored against their bullpen a little bit, it's a really good bullpen. But then on the other side of the ball, we had four errors. Errors and walks, walks and errors. Fernando Tatis Jr. set a new career high with five hits while driving in a pair of RBI, as the Padres (54-53) cracked a home-season-best 16 hits to extend their win streak to four games. Encinitas-born Mickey Moniak hit a two-run home run, the eighth of his career against San Diego, part of his three-RBI night for the Rockies (42-56), who saw four costly errors all come back to hurt.
Jackson Merrill led off the ninth with a single, his third of the game, then stole second and advanced to third when Hunter Goodman's throw went into center field. Back-to-back walks to Luis Rengifo and pinch-hitter Sung-Mun Song cued up Bogaerts' decisive RBI, which made for the seventh walk-off win of the season by San Diego and their third time against Colorado.

The MLB trade deadline is now under two weeks away. While everybody is focused on the big names who could be moved, like Tarik Skubal or Mason Miller, it can often be most beneficial to think about the players who remain and still wind up benefiting from the trade. In this article, I'm going to look at players who could see their fantasy value improve actionably at the deadline, whether they are the ones traded away or the ones who find themselves filling a vacated role.
For this article, I'm only going to focus on trades that seem likely. So I know that Shea Langeliers and Hunter Goodman are being floated in trade rumors, but I don't think either one of them is going to be moved, so we're not going to discuss which catchers could step into starting roles in two offensive-friendly environments. I will admit that left us with a list that doesn't include a lot of "league winners," but that's also the nature of the expanded playoff format. There are a lot of teams that still find themselves in contention, so we may not see as many impact hitters be traded away, which means there might be fewer openings in lineups.
With that preamble out of the way, let's get to the names.
Cole Carrigg - OF, Rockies: Carrigg has hit well in his rookie season, slashing .287/.367/.519 in 34 games with four home runs, 27 runs scored, and 23 RBI. He has slightly below-average barrel rates and hard-hit rates, so he's not tearing the cover off of the ball, but he has good bat speed and is making better-than-league-average zone contact, which is a nice profile in Coors Field. Yet, despite being a switch hitter, Carrigg seems to be splitting playing time with Tyler Freeman. A trade of one or both of Jake McCarthy and Mickey Moniak would open up an everyday role for Carrigg, who wouldn't be a MUST ADD, but would be a nice depth outfield piece in a great home park.
Victor Bericoto - OF, Giants: Bericoto is currently on the injured list with a strained oblique, but by the time the trade deadline rolls around, he will have already missed a month, which means he could be returning shortly thereafter. The rookie has slashed .293/.305/.552 in 59 plate appearances with four home runs, nine RBI, and one steal. He has a 46.5% hard-hit rate and also posted a 50.4% hard-hit rate in Triple-A while posting elite bat speed numbers, so the power production could be very real. He does have some swing and miss in his game because he is an aggressive hitter, but he also has league-average zone contact rates in the minors and a 91.5% rate in his limited MLB sample, so he might make enough contact to make the power work. The Giants are currently shopping Jung Hoo Lee, which could open up a regular outfield spot for Bericoto when he's back from injury.

The Colorado Rockies are sitting at the bottom of the National League and are essentially guaranteed to be trade deadline sellers later this summer.
As they head into the MLB All-Star break, there are a few players on the roster likely drawing trade interest. Antonio Senzatela and outfielders Mickey Moniak and Jake McCarthy will likely be of interest. But Hunter Goodman is the top target by far.
However, according to USA Today's Bob Nighentengale, the Rockies have no plans to trade Goodman this summer, which is bad news for a team like the New York Yankees, who reportedly want to trade for Goodman.
"Yet, the Rockies plan to keep Goodman, who has the second-most homers in the NL behind Kyle Schwarber," Nightengale reports.

However, according to USA Today's Bob Nighentengale, the Rockies have no plans to trade Goodman this summer, which is bad news for a team like the New York Yankees, who reportedly want to trade for Goodman.

Back in March, we posed questions around way-too-early All-Star Game roster predictions, asking which Rockie (or, optimistically, Rockies) you thought would represent the club in Philadelphia, whether Hunter Goodman would be a repeat All-Star, and which surprise players from around the league would make or miss the Midsummer Classic.
Over the course of the season, Sam Bradfield made the case for Mickey Moniak, Antonio Senzatela, and Hunter Goodman to be All-Stars, as well.
The results from the various fan voting phases trickled in this week before the final rosters were announced yesterday. As expected, league-wide fan voting was not kind to the Rockies. As the early balloting results came in, only two Rockies finished in the top 10 at their positions: Goodman (5th among catchers) and Troy Johnston (9th among designated hitters). Even then, they were hundreds of thousands of votes behind the positional leaders.

DENVER (AP) — Jake McCarthy drove in four runs, Mickey Moniak had two RBIs and finished a triple shy of a cycle, and the Colorado Rockies beat the Miami Marlins 14-4 on Thursday to earn a split in the four-game series.
McCarthy and Moniak both homered, with Moniak going deep for the third consecutive game.
It was the second consecutive game and the third time this season that Moniak missed out on a cycle by one hit. In the previous two instances, he failed to get a single.
McCarthy and Moniak both drove in runs during a seven-run sixth inning that stretched Colorado’s lead from one run to eight. In that burst, the Rockies had seven consecutive batters get on base.
Troy Johnston, Willi Castro and Cole Carrigg added two RBIs apiece for Colorado, which had lost eight of its previous nine games against the Marlins.

Remember when the Philadelphia Phillies selected Mickey Moniak with the first pick of the first round in the 2016 MLB amateur draft?
Well, I think all Phillies fans do, and it's not for any of the right reasons. Moniak, who was very highly regarded coming out of high school, was expected to be one of the better players in Major League Baseball when Philadelphia took a chance on him.
Unfortunately, things obviously didn't work out in Philadelphia, though it's important to look at what he's done throughout his entire career, as it's not crazy to say that he's actually turned into a very good player at the big-league level.
Of course, we could factor some of that into the equation when playing at Coors Field, but we still have to give him some credit for what he's been able to do over the past few years. That's why it was interesting to see his name being floated as an option for the Phillies to pursue.

Admittedly, it took them slightly longer this year, but with Mickey Moniak beginning a rehab **** ignment with the Triple-Albuquerque Isotopes on Thursday—while Brenton Doyle and Jordan Beck are potentially nearing their own rehab **** ignments—things are about to get more crowded.
The Rockies currently have six players on the active roster designated as or able to play as outfielders. Including the three on the injured list, they’ve fielded nine different outfielders this season. The team also has two prospects in Triple-A that are getting closer and closer to big league call-ups. Once Moniak returns to the active roster—which is expected to happen as early as this Sunday against the Pittsburgh Pirates—the Rockies will have decisions to make when it comes to their outfield.

After a quick four-game series split against the Giants in Milwaukee, the Brewers are headed out west for a three-game set in Denver against the Colorado Rockies. The Crew sits at 37-23 on the season, five games ahead of the Cardinals and Pirates atop the NL Central as of this writing. On the other side, the Rockies are coming off back-to-back series wins over the Giants and Angels, moving them to 24-39 on the season, still in last place in the NL West.
While several key players have returned for the Brewers in recent weeks, they had a string of injuries in Thursday’s series finale against the Giants, as both DL Hall and Grant Anderson exited. Hall has already been ruled out for the road trip, as he’ll remain in Milwaukee to undergo an MRI scan as he deals with left subscapular/pectoral discomfort. Anderson, who took a liner off his right arm, is reportedly day-to-day with a contusion after X-rays were negative. Lefty Rob Zastryzny, who returned from the IL last weekend, went right back on the shelf with a trap strain, and he’s out until at least late June. Right-hander Brandon Woodruff is close to returning, as is outfielder Brandon Lockridge, who is on the verge of a rehab **** ignment.
