LOYAL — The Loyal School District announced Wednesday, Sept. 2 that due to a self-reported eligibility issue, the Loyal/Greenwood co-op football team will forfeit its 41-7 win over Neillsville/Granton from this past Friday and receive a one-year probation period.
The Marshfield-area school districts said they became aware of the issue following Friday's game, promptly addressed it and self-reported the matter to the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic ****** ociation.
The WIAA then reviewed the situation and imposed the forfeiture and probation.

Among the punishments handed out, the Clippers must forfeit five first-round draft picks and pay a $30 million fine. Sept 1 (Reuters) - The U.S. State Department has proposed requiring parents applying for passports for their children to provide proof of their own citizenship or immigration status as part of President Donald Trump's latest effort to limit birthright citizenship.
The draft guidance, reviewed by Reuters, is the first detailed look at how the State Department could enforce Trump's August 6 executive order targeting what it calls "birth tourism" and broadening historical exceptions to birthright citizenship.
The White House referred Reuters questions to the State Department. In a statement, State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott said that "President Trump has been unequivocal that this Administration will protect the meaning and value of American citizenship, full stop, and that includes making sure our passport adjudication process fully reflects that standard."
Limiting birthright citizenship has been one of the president's top priorities in his far-reaching crackdown on immigration. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled his previous attempt violated the country's Constitution.

The artist formerly known as Kanye West is looking to prevent his past antisemitic social media posts from being used as evidence in a discrimination trial later this year.
In court documents, first spotted by TMZ and reviewed by Complex, Ye argued that the posts have nothing to do with the trial. The filing also provided a 919-page report detailing the alleged posts that would be used, which included an Instagram photo of a ******* robe, with the caption "Outfit of the day," and X posts that read, "I'm a ******* ," "I love Hitler. Now what ******* ," and "I used to f**k employees in my office."
The posts at issue come not only from Ye, but also former Ye employees YesJulz and Milo Yiannopoulos, as well as other third-party and media accounts. Ye's attorneys argue that the posts should not be included for, among other reasons, the fact that some cannot be authenticated, and that others were posted either before or after the plaintiff's "alleged employment."

Brian Hickerson repeatedly pursued another woman months before Hayden Panettiere died at the South Carolina Airbnb where she had been staying with him. According to messages reviewed by Page Six, the exchanges began less than four weeks after Hickerson and Panettiere were last photographed together, adding another unanswered question about the status of their turbulent relationship before her death.

TAIPEI, Aug 31 (Reuters) - An increasingly unpredictable Beijing is tightening its grip on the air and sea around Taiwan, Taipei said in an annual review of the Chinese threat that also said China was learning lessons from issues faced by the United States in waging war on Iran.
China views democratically governed Taiwan as its own territory, has never renounced the use of force to bring the island under its control, and sends its military into the waters and airspace around Taiwan on an almost daily basis.
Taiwan's government rejects Beijing's sovereignty claims, saying only the island's people can decide their future. The United States supplies Taiwan with weapons while maintaining a policy of ambiguity about whether it would fight to defend it.
In its annual report on China's military threat, a copy of which was reviewed by Reuters, Taiwan's defence ministry said the regional security situation "continues to escalate", noting a "rising unpredictability" in China's decision-making due to an "unprecedented" purge of senior military officers.

San Francisco Giants third-base coach Ron Wotus didn't hesitate to let umpire Alan Porter hear his two cents on Saturday, less than 24 hours removed from Porter tossing Giants manager Tony Vitello.
During the lineup card exchange before Game 1 of a doubleheader against the Arizona Diamondbacks in San Francisco, Wotus said his piece.
Porter sent him to the showers, too.
Wotus, a longtime Giants staffer who replaced a reassigned Hector Borg in the third-base coaching box earlier this season, had a front-row seat to a call that drew ire amid a five-run D-backs third inning that played a significant role in San Francisco's 10-6 defeat on Friday.
Nolan Arenado hit a chopper down the third-base line. Although the ball landed in foul territory beyond the infield, third-base umpire Alex MacKay ruled it fair since he believed it traveled over the bag. Reese was **** sed her eighth technical foul of the season during the fourth quarter of Atlanta's 101-83 loss to the Portland Fire on Friday. Under WNBA rules, that total would have resulted in a one-game suspension for Sunday's matchup with the Minnesota Lynx.
The league reviewed the play after the game and rescinded the technical foul, ESPN's Alexa Philippou reported on X. Reese was returned to seven technical fouls and avoided the suspension. The play occurred after Reese and Portland guard Carla Leite became tangled while battling for rebounding position. Reese appeared to push Leite as the two separated, prompting officials to issue the technical.
That decision did not survive the league's review.
Although Reese escaped an immediate punishment, she has little room for error over the remainder of the regular season. Her next technical foul would again be her eighth, automatically triggering a one-game suspension. The fallout from owner Jed York's arrest continues to hang over the San Francisco 49ers, but NBC Sports Bay Area's Matt Maiocco doesn't believe it will cost the York family the franchise.
York was charged with two misdemeanors — disorderly conduct and possession of criminal tools — after responding to an undercover ad on what was described as a known prostitution website. He received a two-day jail sentence and a $1,150 fine. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell confirmed at the league's preseason owners' meeting that the incident is being reviewed under the personal conduct policy. York did not attend the meeting, a decision that wasn't surprising given how recent the arrest was.
Speaking on KNBR, Maiocco addressed the inevitable speculation about a forced sale directly, pointing to how deliberately the York family structured its ownership just two years ago.
"I can't see that. Jed bought equity from his mom in order to become the principal owner. Yes, the 49ers raised a lot of money by selling off around 9.7% of the organization, but when they transferred ownership officially over to Jed as the principal owner, the idea was this was a move made to ensure that it remained in the family," Maiocco said. "I would imagine the long-term plan is for Jed to hand it over to one of his sons or keep it in the family. I don't think this [arrest] will impact that. I think that there will be some discipline by commissioner Roger Goodell. I think it can happen sooner rather than later because the legal process has run its course. I would expect a fine and even a suspension, where he has to stay away from the team for a certain amount of time."
York became the 49ers' principal owner in March 2024, purchasing additional equity from his family specifically to formalize what had effectively been his role since taking over as CEO in 2010. At the time, York did frame the move as a long-term succession plan, saying it was "reflective of how we've operated" and intended to keep the team "in our family for generations to come." Golf equipment giant Callaway on Thursday severed ties with the media firm behind an advert that showed a male golfer shoving a woman to the ground as outrage over the commercial continued to spread.
The PGA Tour also distanced itself from Good Good Golf, announcing the company would no longer serve as ******* le sponsor of an upcoming tournament.
The ad, released online last week before being pulled, triggered a huge backlash for its depiction of violence against women, including calls for a boycott of Callaway products.
The online video showed Garrett Clark -- co-founder of Good Good -- knocking Epson Tour professional player Alexis Miestowski to the ground when she attempts to reach for his driver, before warning her in a sinister tone: "Do not touch my new driver."

He pleaded no contest to that charge and to possessing criminal tools for using his phone to respond to the an undercover online prostitution advertisement.
He was sentenced to one day in jail for both offenses to be served concurrently and was credited with one day served when he pleaded no contest. He also was fined $1,150. Police seized the $160 from York and that was later given to the human trafficking task force as part of the plea. York also completed an online course.

Busy Phillips, 47, revealed she was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor in February, telling People that she's experienced "the weirdest six months of my life" after undergoing two surgeries.
"I'm grateful that I'm alive," Phillips shared as she recovers from a grade 2 oligodendroglioma, which is found in only 1,100 to 1,300 people per year in the U.S., according to her neuro-oncologist, Dr. Alexandra Miller.

The case involves four misdemeanor charges filed in Chatham County on Jan. 26 simple battery, simple ***** ault, battery and criminal trespass. The counts stem from Aronow's Feb. 24, 2024, arrest following an altercation with employees at Club Elan.
A police report accused Aronow of pulling a security worker's hair, striking another guard in the genitals and throwing a tampon at a bartender. Aronow told responding officers she had been forcefully removed from the club and maintained that her actions toward the security workers were in self-defense.
