Four-star small forward Carson Crawford has committed to Arizona State, he told Rivals.
The 6-foot-6 senior out of Fleming Island (FL) is ranked as the No. 47 overall recruit in the 2027 class and the No. 12 ranked small forward, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, an average of all three major recruiting media companies (Rivals, ESPN, 247Sports).

South Africa continued their strong run in the Namibia T20I Tri-Series with another convincing victory over Zimbabwe, securing a comfortable 43-run win in the fourth match at the Namibia Cricket Ground on Tuesday.

Lhuan-dre Pretorius narrowly missed out on a maiden T20I century but produced a career-best 94 to set up South Africa's second victory over Zimbabwe in the tournament. The opener's sensational knock came off just 51 ******* and featured 12 fours and three sixes.

Pretorius was named Player of the Match after helping South Africa post 185/7 before their bowlers completed the job by dismissing Zimbabwe for 142 in 17.4 overs.
Put into bat, South Africa made an aggressive start, with Pretorius anchoring the innings and playing a key role in two partnerships of more than 50 runs for the first two wickets.

He found an able partner in Dewald Brevis, who struck 41 off 27 ******* , as the Proteas built a strong platform. Zimbabwe did manage to fight back with regular wickets towards the latter stages, but South Africa had already done enough damage to reach a competitive 185/7.

Pretorius fell six runs short of a century, but the opener insisted the team victory mattered more than his individual milestone.

"Yeah, that's fine. I'm just glad we got over the line. Milestones will come and go, and yeah, it wasn't meant to be today, but I was just glad because we said at the 14-over mark we wanted to get to 200, and I knew if I got the team to 200 I'd get to the milestone. But yeah, I think milestones come and go, and today was not meant to be, but we won, so it's good," Pretorius said.
Zimbabwe needed 186 for victory but struggled to maintain momentum after a promising beginning from Brian Bennett.

Their powerplay was derailed by a double-wicket maiden from captain Bjorn Fortuin, and South Africa struck again soon after the fielding restrictions ended.

Duan Jansen produced a decisive burst, taking three wickets in four ******* across two overs to leave Zimbabwe in serious trouble.

Captain Sikandar Raza offered some resistance with 45 off 33 ******* , while Newman Nyamhuri added 27 with some aggressive hitting. But the pair could only reduce the eventual margin of defeat as Zimbabwe were bowled out for 142.

Fortuin was the standout bowler, finishing with 4/24 from 3.4 overs, while Jansen claimed 3/21. The pair shared seven wickets between them as South Africa repeatedly struck at crucial moments.

The result gives South Africa their second win over Zimbabwe in the tri-series, with Pretorius' near-century and a disciplined bowling performance combining to secure another comprehensive victory.

Over the last two weeks at Delmarva Now, polls have been released that allowed local high school sports fans to vote for which teams they thought would be the best in Bayside South football, soccer, field hockey and volleyball. And now that voting has closed in each poll, it is time to announce the winners.
In the poll predicting who will be the best Bayside South high school football team in 2026, the Stephen Decatur Seahawks prevailed as winners. 54% of voters selected Decatur to be the best in the Bayside South, as they attempt to defend their Bayside Conference Championship crown for a fourth year in a row. Coming in second place was Wi-Hi, who will look to build on their Class 2A State Semifinal appearance last season.
In boys soccer, the final results were close, with four teams tallying double-digit percentages of the votes. But the Crisfield Crabbers were the winners of the preseason Boys Soccer poll, as they won with 33% of the vote. Parkside came in second place and, James M. Bennett, and defending Class 3A State Champions Stephen Decatur were tied for third place.
Last season in Bayside South girls soccer, the Stephen Decatur Seahawks were able to usurp their rivals James M. Bennett as both Bayside South and Bayside Conference Champions. And according to the fans voting, they expect the Seahawks to do so again this season, as they won 50% of the votes in the poll. Bennett finished in second place in the voting.
Bayside South field hockey is competitive each and every year, with many good teams lining up against each other each fall. For field hockey fans voting in this year's preseason poll, they expect the James M. Bennett Clippers to come out on top as the Bayside South's best. The Clippers won with 57% of the vote, and the Pocomoke Warriors received 30%.

The Ravens released several players they likely want to re-sign to their practice squad over the weekend, but most are subject to waivers. All 31 teams will have a chance to claim them, in reverse order of last year's standings.
Waivers are set to process at 1 p.m. ET. Here are Baltimore's biggest risks, according to Beatdown's staff.
Dustin's take: The biggest waiver risks for me would be Robert Longerbeam, Adisa Isaac, and Rayshaun Benny. Longerbeam had a very strong preseason in his rebound from a season-ending injury that derailed his rookie season before it began last year. He deserved to make the roster, but the Ravens had too many quality cornerbacks ahead of him. Cornerback depth is of utmost importance in the NFL, so it would not surprise me to see someone claim Longerbeam. Isaac has the pedigree of being a former third-rounder, but injuries have kept him from showcasing his potential so far. I am sure that at least one team will be willing to take a chance on a young athletic pass rusher like Isaac. Similar to Longerbeam, Benny was victim to a loaded position group. Benny played well this preseason, but the team decided to go with Aeneas Peebles as the final defensive lineman over Benny, which is a decision I support.
Zach's take: The Ravens have five main guys I want on the practice squad that I'm worried about getting claimed. The first is recent seventh-round pick defensive tackle Rayshaun Benny, who flashed a bit during the preseason but not enough to steal a spot from Broderick Washington. Benny has pass potential on a brand new rookie contract so there's a chance somebody with lacking defensive line depth could put in a claim. The next is offensive tackle Gerald Lichtenhan. He was maybe the most steady offensive lineman during the preseason and a guy they had last year as well. Offensive line depth is always a luxury in the NFL, so it wouldn't be too shocking to see somebody grab him. Next is the pair of pass rushers the Ravens waived, Adisa Isaac and Kaimon Rucker. Both flashed plenty in the preseason and had sacks but Ethan Burke simply made more plays and impacts more phases of the game. I think at least one of these guys gets claimed, likely Isaac, but hopefully the Ravens can get back at least one, if not both on the practice squad. Lastly, cornerback Robert Longerbeam finally had a chance to show what he could do after suffering an injury during his rookie year last preseason. He showed great coverage and open field tackling ability and I think a team would be lucky to grab him as depth. But hopefully the Ravens can sneak last years draft pick back on their practice squad.
Now, it's time to see if any Ravens get claimed off waivers! Keep up with the latest updates in our tracker and let us know which ones you will miss the most in the comments section!

NEW YORK - Shut down by rookie lefty starter Jake Bennett and three Red Sox's relievers in a 6-0 opening Boston win Saturday, the Yankees must - in manager Aaron Boone's words - "turn the page in a hurry.''
In the nightcap of a day-night doubleheader, the Yankees have activated veteran lefty Max Fried (elbow bone bruise) off the injured list.
Fried hasn't pitched an MLB game since Aug. 13, and he's likely limited to about 65 pitches against the Red Sox, who will open with Alec Gamboa - one of five lefties in the Boston bullpen.
To make room for Fried on the active roster, the Yanks designated righty reliever Justin Topa for ******* ignment. Topa tossed a scoreless relief inning in Saturday's opener.
Also on Saturday, the Yankees signed lefty-hitting outfielder Jarred Kelenic and ******* igned him to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

FLATWOODS In stormy seas, the captain takes the helm. In a Backyard Brawl, the captain gets the ball.
With the heated rivalry game deadlocked at 22-22, Russell won the overtime coin flip and chose defense first against Greenup County.
Red Devils coach TJ Maynard said he and his staff predetermined if they managed to stop the Musketeers, they'd go with the Wildcat formation and repeatedly direct-snap to junior Kaiden Benge.
The plan worked. On third down, Benge bolted from the backfield and found the left side of the end zone from 12 yards out to lift Russell to a 28-22 triumph in extra time at Henry R. Evans Stadium Friday.
"It was so magical to see," said junior Spencer Gross. "I was blocking back side, and he just kept going. He was relentless and didn't give up. When he scored, I knew our mission was complete; I was so happy and joyous to see it. … 'Benny' showed us why he's a leader, why he's a captain."

NEW YORK - Amid a troubling stretch for the Houston Astros rotation, an ace restored order. Fourteen games elapsed without an Astros starter finishing six innings before Hunter Brown took the mound at Citi Field on Friday. Half of those games saw their starter work 4 ⅓ innings or fewer, taxing a bullpen showing signs of strain. The rotation posted a 5.64 ERA in that span. Just two teams had a higher one.
The formula feels unsustainable for a team with playoff aspirations, but nor are solutions apparent for this team's pitching instability. Houston has three starters in which it shows trust. One, Peter Lambert, already is nearing a career-high innings total. Another, Hayden Wesneski, has not surpassed 91 pitches yet in six starts back from elbow surgery.
With both Cristian Javier and Tatsuya Imai - the two highest-paid starters on their roster - rested, the Astros will deploy an opener Saturday against the Mets. Bennett Sousa will draw the **** ignment, two days after a messy seventh inning at Yankee Stadium. Javier and Imai would ostensibly be available for bulk innings, but Imai has been on ice, appearing in three games this month.
Houston's bullpen has essentially been operating a man short as a result, magnifying the workload its regular relievers have shouldered. Steven Okert entered Friday with the third-most outings among AL relievers and AJ Blubaugh with the most relief innings in the majors. Okert, Enyel De Los Santos and Bryan Abreu were all among the 33 relievers in the league with at least 52 appearances.
Maintaining key arms for a playoff push is desirable, but the Astros' lack of cushion - a two-game lead over Texas in the AL West after their 3-1 win Friday - complicates strategic rest. So does the rotation's recent lack of reliability, forcing them to rely heavily on leverage relievers to secure wins. Getting more from that group seems critical over the final 27 games of their season.

Ty Simpson again stole headlines in the Los Angeles Rams' 20-18 win over the Chargers on Thursday night, yet fellow rookie CJ Daniels has earned a chance in the spotlight. Following a second straight promising game, Daniels has seemingly done enough to earn a roster spot, as he's been one of the Rams' most consistent wideouts this preseason.
We'll get into that more shortly, but let's dive into the good, the bad and the ugly against the Chargers in the preseason finale on Thursday night.
Did Simpson secure the backup position? There's a chance, but Sean McVay is going to take his sweet ****** time making a decision.
The quarterback battle in Los Angeles shouldn't be a battle at all given what we've seen this preseason. Simpson has simply outplayed Stetson Bennett and should be rewarded with the backup role. Why should the Rams put up with mediocrity behind Matthew Stafford? They haven't put up with average with the rest of the roster.
There's more on that in a bit. The rookie has truly been sensational this preseason. He didn't make a single mistake in his three appearances, which is crucial to note. Additionally, he demonstrated high efficiency and poise like someone who has played in this offense for years.

ATLANTA (AP) — Georgia prison officials plan to execute a man next month who was convicted of fatally shooting two real estate agents in Atlanta's suburbs more than two decades ago.
Stacey Humphreys, 53, was convicted of malice murder in the 2003 killings of 33-year-old Cyndi Williams and 21-year-old Lori Brown. He is set to receive a lethal injection at the state prison near Jackson at 7 p.m. on Sept. 16, according to the Department of Corrections.
Humphreys would be the first person executed in Georgia this year. The death penalty in the state has largely been tied up in litigation over an agreement related to the coronavirus pandemic that defense lawyers contend temporarily shields many death row residents from execution. The last execution in the state was in March 2024.
Humphreys was previously scheduled to die last December, but the execution was halted after his lawyers filed a petition asking a judge to order two members of the State Board of Pardons and Paroles to recuse themselves from hearing his clemency petition. Humphreys' lawyers argued that the two parole board members had conflicts of interest because they had played roles during his trial.
Kimberly McCoy, one of the board members, was a victim advocate with the Cobb County district attorney's office at the time of Humphreys' trial and was ****** igned to work with the victims in the case. The other, Wayne Bennett, was the sheriff in Glynn County, where the trial was moved because of pretrial publicity, and Humphreys' lawyers argued he oversaw security for the jurors and Humphreys himself during the case.

Ty Simpson started at quarterback for the Rams on Thursday night and Stetson Bennett did not play, but head coach Sean McVay said after the game that those decisions had nothing to do with which of them will be the No. 2 quarterback to start the regular season.
McVay said the call was made as part of the process of "continuing to get [Simpson] experience" heading into his rookie season and that the team isn't ready to name either player as the primary backup to Matthew Stafford.
"Obviously, we've got the reigning MVP of the league, and then we got two guys that we feel really good about," McVay said, via the team's website. "And if you say, 'hey, what does that really mean?' That's what it means. We feel really good about those two guys. Not pigeon-holing myself into any sort of decision other than I feel really good about Stetson Bennett, feel really good about Ty Simpson."
The Rams play their opener against the 49ers in Australia in two weeks, so a decision will be coming in the near future.

The most intriguing position battle on the Los Angeles Rams' roster this summer is coming down to the wire. All offseason, Stetson Bennett and Ty Simpson were competing for the QB2 job behind Matthew Stafford and after three preseason games, Sean McVay still hasn't made up his mind.
What we do know is that the Rams will keep all three quarterbacks on the 53-man roster. He just hasn't decided whether Simpson or Bennett will be the QB2 for Week 1.
He told reporters after Thursday's win over the Chargers that he has not committed to a No. 2 quarterback, and that he feels really good about both Simpson and Bennett. The Rams held Bennett out of action on Thursday night but McVay says he wouldn't read too much into that as an endorsement for the fourth-year quarterback.
McVay said he'll make a decision after giving it more thought, though he technically doesn't have to decide until shortly before the Rams kick off against the 49ers on Sept. 10. At that point, he'll need to pick which quarterback is active for the opener, and which one will be in street clothes.
Simpson and Bennett both played well in the preseason, committing zero turnovers and winning all three games. They each looked comfortable operating McVay's offense, which is a greater compliment to the rookie Simpson. In the finale, only Simpson played, completing 18 of 23 passes for 119 yards and a touchdown, leading the Rams to a 20-18 victory.

The Los Angeles Rams "travel" to take on the Los Angeles Chargers in both team's final preseason game of the season. Not sure how to watch? Check out our how to watch guide!
With a 10:00pm ET start time, this game should finish later than usual, and there is an expectation the teams will let the clock run as much as they can to try and get out of this contest fast and healthy.
Regardless of what happens or doesn't happen, each team will have 60 minutes on the field to give their players time to either ready up for the season, secure a roster spot, or maybe be given a chance to shine with the hope of catching on elsewhere.
For the Rams, they won't play their starters, per usual. Though Ty Simpson is expected to play, we will find out if Stetson Bennett sees any action. Will this game determine who the backup quarterback is going into this season?
Sean McVay should likely have a good idea of what his roster will look like come Week 1, but there could be some adjustments to figure out, and this contest will help the Rams finalize what they need to know before they put their official roster together.

NEW YORK (AP) — Cody Bellinger hit a go-ahead double with the bases loaded in the seventh inning and the New York Yankees pulled away for a 9-3 victory over the Houston Astros on Wednesday night.
Bellinger snapped a 3-all tie when he drove a 1-1 fastball from Bennett Sousa (1-3) off the top of the center-field fence to score Trent Grisham and Ben Rice. The clutch swing came after Luis García Jr. reached on an infield single when Sousa didn't cover first base in time on a grounder to the right side.
Spencer Jones added an RBI single in the seventh and Jazz Chisholm Jr. had a run-scoring double. Chisholm singled twice and finished with his third three-hit game this season.
Rice launched his 35th homer in the first inning and García tacked on a two-run shot in the eighth. García had three more hits after going 4 for 5 in Tuesday night's defeat.
Rice's homer pulled him within one of Houston slugger Yordan Alvarez for the American League lead and marked the first time in 24 games the Yankees scored in an opening inning.

In the end, Bennett Sousa just wasn't up to the task. Yankees 9 Astros 3.
The Astros would once again get on the board first. Isaac Paredes drew a two out walk and scored on a Jose Altuve double. However, the lead was short-lived as in the bottom of the same frame, Ben Rice would hit a solo shot.
The Yankees weren't done. Luis Garcia singled, and advanced to third on a throwing error by Christian Walker. George Lombard Jr brought him in giving the New York their first lead of the night, 2-1.
That remained the score until Daulton Varsho launched his 10th homer of the season, a solo shot to center field to tie the game at 2.
In the bottom of the fourth the Yankees were active. Chisholm, Wells, and Caballero each singled which generated a 3-2 lead.

Even with their offseason changes, most expect the Oklahoma City Thunder to remain in the thick of the ***** le race. They enter the 2026-27 season as co-title favorites — alongside the San Antonio Spurs. Now, add ESPN's projections as the latest fan of that theory.
In a poll of NBA insiders, ESPN's Summer Forecast has the Thunder in second place in the 2026-27 Western Conference standings with a 60-22 record. The Spurs are ahead in first place with a 62-20 record. Both also serve as the league's best overall records.
"Just when you thought Oklahoma City might strengthen its hold on the West, Wembanyama and the upstart Spurs embarked on a surprising run to the NBA Finals and knocked off the defending champions along the way," ESPN wrote. "This rivalry has been brewing for years, but it ramped up last season. Including the NBA Cup, the regular season and the playoffs, the Spurs and the Thunder met 12 times last season, with the former seizing eight victories."
I think that's a fair prediction to make. The Thunder lost some of their depth this summer. They sent out Lu Dort, Isaiah Joe and Aaron Wiggins in cost-cutting trades. Meanwhile, the back of their bench is filled with question marks. Nikola Topic, Thomas Sorber, Aday Mara and Bennett Stirtz are virtually unknown.
Even if they're not as deep as years before, if the Thunder enjoy better health luck, they'll be in the running for the first seed for a fourth consecutive year. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams are one of the top trios in the league — with one championship ring already in hand.

There is no shortage of picture-perfect smiles in Hollywood. From super-straight veneers to blinding pearly whites, it's rare to see any crooked or yellow-stained teeth on the red carpet. Yet, for decades, Johnny Depp rejected the trend, embracing his imperfect grin.
In 2024, however, the Alice in Wonderland actor surprised fans by debuting a dramatically transformed set of teeth.
Here, we look back at Johnny's smile evolution over the years, from his "rotten" tooth in the 90s to his gold caps in Pirates of the Caribbean.
Johnny's smile has evolved significantly over the years. He showcased his natural pearly whites in a 1990 headshot – the same year he starred opposite Winona Ryder in Tim Burton's Edward Scissorhands, which was followed by a string of big-screen hits including What's Eating Gilbert Grape (1993), Benny & Joon (1993), and Sleepy Hollow (1999).
Over thirty years ago, Johnny insisted that he would never have a "perfect" set of gnashers.

Usain Bolt just got engaged to his longtime girlfriend!
The eight-time Olympic gold medalist popped the big question to Kasi Bennett after over a decade of dating as they celebrated his 40th birthday. Bennett, 36, made all the arrangements for the celebration but the Jamaican retired sprinter has something else in mind.
Bolt popped the big question to Bennett with a 5-carat diamond ring featuring an oval cut, which the Jamaican model showed off in several pictures posted on Instagram.
For the special occasion, which was held at the One Belmont in Kingston, Jamaica, per local news outlet Jamaica Observer, Bennett looked stunning in a gold form-fitting gown with silver sequin detailing. As for Bolt, he sported a gray checkered suit with light blue loafers.
"A million moments led us here. Yes, always," Bennett captioned the photos.

The Los Angeles Rams have an interesting position battle that has been brewing for some time and should be approaching its conclusion this week. Stetson Bennett and Ty Simpson have been competing to be Matthew Stafford's backup this season, splitting preseason reps the last two weeks.
Bennett, who has seemingly led the battle throughout camp, lost some ground during the team's preseason opener against Kansas City, with Simpson having a marvelous performance in his debut. After only playing one quarter in the opener, Bennett got a half against the New Orleans Saints. He dazzled, throwing for 181 yards and rushing for two touchdowns in the blowout win.
With the team's preseason finale this week, Gary Klein of the LA Times reports that Bennett continues to get the initial reps with the second-team offense, while Simpson worked after him.
Stetson Bennett was first up with the second-team offense. Ty Simpson also took some second-team reps.
If that didn't already indicate Bennett has confirmed his lead for the QB2 race, head coach Sean McVay stated Simpson will play in the finale, while Bennett's participation will be determined. Under McVay, the Rams historically have not played their QB2 in the finale.
