The development comes just two days after another proposed move to England collapsed. Get German Football News reported on Sunday that Bahoya had personally rejected a transfer to Hull City despite Frankfurt and the newly-promoted Premier League side having already reached a verbal agreement at club level.
Frankfurt nevertheless remained prepared to negotiate a late departure for the France U21 international. The upside is that almost immediately that news was followed up by confirmation that Liverpool had rejected the bid. More than that, the club have signalled that they won't consider any approach for Nyoni because he is in fact in Iraola's first team plans for the 2026-27 season.
Liverpool signed Nyoni out of Leicester City's academy in 2023, eventually paying around £1M after the case was sent to tribunal. The young midfielder has made 20 first team appearances to date over his three seasons at the club, with 14 of those (with six in the league) coming last season.

Alberta's Premier Danielle Smith has rejected the idea of slapping export taxes on crude oil exports to the United States in retaliation for the Trump administration's tariff salvo against Ottawa, saying they would be damaging to Canada.
"Although I understand the need to respond strongly to these tariffs, I cannot think of a more disastrous policy decision than cutting off or taxing Alberta's oil to the United States," Smith said as quoted by Global News, adding that the move would trigger a disproportionate tariff response from the United States that could hurt the Canadian economy.

Alberta exports about 4 million barrels of crude oil daily to the United States. Last year, the total value of these exports stood at about $80 billion. Trump has so far not threatened tariffs on crude oil coming from Canada but, according to Smith, this could change if Canada itself decides to use oil exports as a weapon in the tariff war.
As for the possibility of threatening the U.S. with a suspension of oil exports, Smith suggested this would be an even worse idea. "The United States would, of course, respond and cut off all gasoline and diesel from their refineries to Ontario and Quebec, right as we turn into fall and winter," she told media.

The Wall Street Journal reported on August 14, 2026, that PayPal Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:PYPL) is in talks to sell itself to a group including Stripe and private equity firm Advent International after Stripe and Advent's initial July offer of $60.50 a share was rejected as too low, with the two sides now negotiating a higher price.
PayPal's market value has collapsed from a 2021 peak of about $360 billion to as low as roughly $36 billion this year. Now the company built by early digital-payments pioneers is negotiating its own sale.
That raises the real question: does a Stripe-Advent deal rescue PayPal Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:PYPL)'s business at a fair price, or does it confirm the company simply couldn't turn around its slowing growth alone?
The initial $60.50-per-share offer represented roughly a 28% premium to PayPal Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:PYPL)'s prior closing price and was backed by about $50 billion in committed bank financing. William Blair ****** yst Andrew Jeffrey said PayPal's new CEO likely would not accept a "low-ball offer." Blair predicated Stripe and Advent could go as high as $70 a share. Combining Stripe's merchant-focused business with PayPal's more than 430 million consumer accounts would create a combined payments giant processing about $3.7 trillion in annual volume. PayPal CEO Enrique Lores has already split the company into three units, checkout, Venmo, and payments and crypto, since taking over in March as part of a big recovery effort.
PayPal Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:PYPL)'s own struggles are exactly why a sale is on the table. Rivals like Apple Pay and Google Pay have taken. As of July, PayPal has lost more than 40% of its market value over just the past 12 months, and its market cap is still roughly one-tenth of its 2021 peak. There's no guarantee talks result in a deal at all, since PayPal already rejected the first offer as insufficient.

Liverpool are still pursuing Ismaila Sarr, despite seeing an initial offer of around £50m rejected by Crystal Palace.
Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola wants to bring in three more players before the end of the transfer window, including two who can operate in wide positions. One of those will be France winger Bradley Barcola, after PSG accepted an offer of £100m plus £20m in potential add-ons for the 23-year-old.
