The Los Angeles Lakers are still trying to figure out a lot about their roster, with plenty of new faces expected to take the floor this season. One thing is certain: there will be no LeBron James for the first time in almost a decade.
Another major question is who will start at power forward. LA has options both internally and on the trade market.
"Then, there is the power forward position. This is the last domino among the starting lineup that really does not have full clarity just yet. There are certainly players internally, and even externally, who could fill the vacancy," Lake Show Life's Svyatoslav Rovenchuk wrote.
If the Lakers decide to explore the trade market, they have been willing to shop Dalton Knecht and Jarred Vanderbilt throughout the summer.

Even though today's opening prices for both cryptocurrencies are down a bit from the high levels they hit this week, it's the highest opening figure for bitcoin since early June, and the highest opening for ethereum since August 22. But other than August 22, it's the highest opening ethereum price we've observed since January 31.
Despite the slight pullback from the highs earlier in the week, Yahoo Finance's Scott Melker, host of The Daily Wolf, predicted bitcoin prices would move down and says it's by no means time to worry. He also explains why bitcoin prices fell here.

On the other hand, they also have a great supporting cast that helps them chase 60 wins or more and deep postseason runs. This is where legends like Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili come in. Dylan Harper is on that similar trajectory. ESPN even boldly predicts that he will become a frontrunner for the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award, all while he is expected to emulate a jump like that of James Harden.
Dylan Harper was a revelation for the Spurs during their postseason run en route to the NBA Finals. He may have finished fourth in Rookie of the Year voting, but his invaluable numbers helped Coach Mitch Johnson's squad stay afloat when Victor Wembanyama looked wonky. His postseason numbers saw him average 11.8 points on a 50.5% field goal percentage while racking up 3.4 rebounds, 3.9 ***** ists, and 0.8 steals.
The 2026-27 NBA season is set to be a big year for Harper. Heading into Year 2 of his career, ESPN projects that he will become a frontrunner for the NBA 6MOTY award.

Fox Sports college football ****** yst Joel Klatt recently announced his predictions for the 2027 College Football Playoff.
Much like other CFP predictions for the upcoming season, Klatt has Notre Dame reaching the national championship game. Going into the CFP as the second seed, Klatt has the Irish winning it all for the first time in nearly 40 years.
Through Fox Sports' The Joel Klatt Show podcast, Klatt predicted that Notre Dame will beat seventh-seeded Georgia in the quarterfinals, defeat third-seeded Miami in the semifinals then knock off top-seeded Oregon in the ****** le game.
It remains to be seen how Notre Dame will respond this season after being snubbed out of the CFP last year. However, with a stacked roster this season, the Irish are poised for redemption and to raise the CFP trophy.
The Irish will begin their run to the national championship game at home on Sept. 6 against Wisconsin.

Not to everyone's delight, Elversberg are active in the transfer market ahead of their first-ever top-flight season. The smallest town to be represented in Bundesliga is backed by investor Frank Holzer, who is the head of pharmaceutical company Ursapharm, which didn't go well with the traditional ethos of German football.
After missing out on a promotion the previous season with a narrow defeat to Heidenheim in the playoff, Elversberg faced a similar scare in the final month of the 2. Bundesliga campaign. A defeat to eventually relegated Fortuna Düsseldorf made them wait until the final matchday of the season to write history.
The club from a town of 13,000 inhabitants has only made the jump to the second division in 2023. Despite the promising 2024/25 campaign, few predicted them to be around the top once again since their long-serving coach Horst Steffen was poached by Werder Bremen, while top scorers Fisnik Asllani and Muhammed Damar returned to their parent club Hoffenheim.
And, in the middle of the season, 12-goal hero Younes Ebnoutalib joined Eintracht Frankfurt. To their credit, Vincent Wagner's side maintained their momentum after the departure of the Moroccan attacker with David Mokwa proving to be the perfect replacement.
Their form at the Ursapharm-Arena an der Kaiserlinde was a big factor as Hertha and Schalke were the only teams to return home with three points. In the end, Elversberg followed the latter to win automatic promotion to Bundesliga.

Former coach Urban Meyer understands Kyle Whittingham's point. He just thinks Michigan's new head coach is approaching the Ohio State rivalry with a little too much common sense.
After Whittingham rejected the idea that he needs to personally hate Ryan Day and Bryce Underwood called Ohio State "just another game," Meyer offered a very different philosophy. For the former Buckeyes coach, hatred does not have to be personal to be useful.
During a recent The Triple Option podcast episode, Meyer said he never personally hated Jim Harbaugh or Brady Hoke, but that distinction disappeared once Michigan became the opponent.
"Do I hate them? Absolutely, I hate them, and that's your job to hate them," Meyer said. "You got to play the game."
Meyer predicted Whittingham may develop more of that edge after his first trip to Columbus as Michigan's head coach. More importantly, he argued that a coach at either program has to understand what the rivalry means to the people around it.

That would bring Belichick's college coaching tenure to an end after only two seasons. The six-time Super Bowl-winning head coach arrived in Chapel Hill as one of the most fascinating hires in college football history. North Carolina was getting an NFL legend who could sell recruits on professional development and potentially construct the college version of an NFL organization.
The results have failed to match the attention. North Carolina won only four games during Belichick's debut season. The Tar Heels now enter 2026 with modest expectations and significant uncertainty inside the program.

Timing is everything in the Coach of the Year Award and the betting market reflects that, but there are seismic shifts, and surprises, each season. The head coach tends to get credit for things that happen under his watch even if he had little to do with it — like Drake Maye's development under offensive coordinator Josh McDaniel, making it possible that someone down the oddsboard takes it.

Amid Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's plans to return to the UK, a celebrity chef has predicted a harsh future for her lifestyle brand, As Ever. The former actress may be planning to bring the venture with her. However, whether or not the British audience will accept it remains uncertain.
Meghan Markle launched the lifestyle and wellness brand, American Riviera Orchard, in 2024. She rebranded it as "As Ever" a year later. Its offerings include fruit spreads, honey, herbal teas, hand-poured candles, flower sprinkles, and seasonal gift sets. So far, the brand has only had consumers in America. With the Sussexes' return to the UK, rumors have been swirling that the brand will try to establish its foothold there.
While speaking to the Daily Express, celebrity chef Jameson Stocks delivered a brutal prediction for As Ever. "I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of department stores in London have already signed a deal to sell her below-average overpriced tat."
He believes Markle will reinvent her brand for the British market, but remains unsure that it will work. "I have no doubt that she will pivot her brand and launch something in the UK. The question is there enough mugs in the UK to buy it?"
The Duke and ***** ss of Sussex's relationship with the British royal family could improve upon their return. This could recenter the attention on Markle and her brand. Reflecting on the difficulties of rebuilding the relationship with the royal family, Stocks said, "When you're backed into a corner with very few options left – having exhausted every possible avenue, you often find yourself turning back to your family."

Not for the first time in recent years, Gary Neville has predicted Liverpool to finish outside the top four of the Premier League this season.
Having ended a harrowing 2025/26 campaign in fifth place and just about salvaging Champions League qualification, the Reds will be striving for a big improvement this time around, but a 2-2 draw at Newcastle on Sunday indicated that they remain unconvincing.
In contrast to last summer, incoming transfer activity has been thin on the ground this year, although reports from France over the past 24 hours suggest that a deal for Bradley Barcola could be imminent.
Neville and Jamie Carragher were tasked with giving their predictions for the Premier League season on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football, and while the latter backed Liverpool to finish fourth, the former believes we'll end up one position lower.
The 51-year-old said: "I can't separate Man United and Liverpool in fourth place. I genuinely have no idea. I think City are in a better position than United. At the moment, I'm not convinced by United or Liverpool, but I do think they'll finish fourth and fifth [respectively]."

A season after each team won at least nine games, the NFC North appears wide open again in 2026. On the latest episode "Football 301," Nate Tice and ESPN's Mina Kimes broke down each team's impact players and X factors and ultimately predicted each team's win totals.

Keelon Russell is Alabama football's starting quarterback.
Russell, the highest-rated recruit in Alabama football history, per 247Sports' composite rankings and the first five-star quarterback in the Kalen DeBoer era, separated himself from the pack, beating Austin Mack for first-team reps. And DeBoer is excited to see what Russell can do.
"He continues to feel comfortable with this offense, command of the offense, execution," DeBoer said after Alabama's fall camp practice Monday, Aug. 24. "He's done a better job, with more and more reps, as you'd expect, taking care of the football. Balancing that with the ability to just be explosive not be too conservative."
It's poise, DeBoer said of Russell. It's Russell's production and his personal expectation of what the Crimson Tide offense is and what his role is in this offense. It's what DeBoer predicted of Russell out of Duncanville High School in Texas where he amassed 7,444 passing yards, completing 71.3% of his 586 pass attempts and 97 career touchdowns.
"Big moments never seemed too big for him," DeBoer said. "The guys believe in him. He has a voice out there. He's not afraid to speak up and be vocal, and I think that's even more so now that he's been named the starting quarterback. You just feel, when he's out there yelling out calls, trying to get guys lined up, pulling them in, whatever the situation is. It's him and the guys all beloeve in him and they are going to do what he says.

Buy now, pay later products provider Affirm Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:AFRM) is one of Cramer's favorite stocks. The shares are down by 3% over the past year and are up by 4% year-to-date. On multiple occasions, the CNBC TV host has praised the firm's CEO. For instance, in January, Cramer predicted that the shares would touch the $100 mark. The latest closing price for Affirm Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:AFRM) is $77. Here is what he said about the firm on August 17th:
"I think that Workday, that was a good run. How about that. That was a very good run. And I noticed that Salesforce already started coming down. We do have a Salesforce conference coming up and I know Marc Benioff's going to say that everyone's just dead wrong. Can everyone be dead wrong? Conceivably. But, what I don't like is, I didn't put Affirm in this group. And the reason I didn't put Affirm in this group because that one should be at a hundred. That one is real. That one has the growth that I want. That one has the CEO that I liked. That one has short sellers and people who don't really understand that Levchin, he's brilliant. Max is brilliant. And I just think that that one is the only one I would buy right here."
As is with most stocks, the debate for Affirm Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:AFRM) surrounds its valuation as well. The stock currently trades at a forward P/E ratio of 39.84, which is more than twice that of JPMorgan and more than thrice that of PayPal. As a result, the growth expectations for Affirm Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:AFRM) appear to be rather high. They are a strong gross merchandise volume (GMV) growth of 35% annually, revenue less transaction costs growth of 41% (to outpace GMV growth) and active customer growth of 22%. Consequently, the firm appears to be feeding its merchant growth into customer growth.
Additionally, Affirm Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:AFRM)'s point of sale algorithmic data also enables it to adjust and avoid defaults. Yet, at the end of the day, the firm nevertheless relies on consumer spending and interest rates, and economic turmoil stemming from inflation could generate headwinds through both of these. Additionally, funding costs are also trickier due to the firm's reliance on private credit markets.
Shifting towards Salesforce Inc. (NYSE:CRM), the shares are down by 17.5% year-to-date. Over multiple appearances, Cramer has discussed the split in the firm's AI and non-AI businesses. This split is also at the heart of the debate surrounding the firm. Salesforce Inc. (NYSE:CRM)'s Agentforce, which is its AI platform, marked 205% annual ARR growth, $260 million sequential growth, 152% sequential token processed growth and 111% in sequential work unit growth to indicate that AI-related tailwinds are in place. Yet, at the same time, overall contribution by Agentforce remains muted as it represented two points of Q1 revenue growth. Additionally, the AI and data ARR also includes figures from Informatica, which makes it difficult to ****** yse the impact of Ag

Entertainment giant The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS)'s shares are down by 9% over the past year and by 3.6% year-to-date. One aspect of the firm that Cramer regularly discusses is its cruise ship business. For instance, in August 2025, the CNBC TV host predicted that The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) would make "a lot of money" with its cruise ship business. As the firm's new CEO previously ran its cruise business, naturally, Cramer had a lot to say about The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) on August 17th:
"I have been a big believer in Josh [D'Amaro]. First, congratulations to Chris Berman, ESPN legend. . .it's a good example of what, they have this ESPN and it's been, somehow been an albatross. I think that's ridiculous. They have all this great film they do these great things. Now Josh ran the cruise ships, if they could double the cruise ships then the numbers would go up big. James Gorman put them in a terrific situation in the interim. Do I want to own Disney? We owned it, it's very hard to own that stock because it's kept down by the cohort. The cohort is so miserable that you keep thinking, I don't want to get ahead of myself here because oh man, everybody else is doing terribly."
The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) is in the unique position in the media and entertainment industry since it owns both legacy networks and has set up formidable digital platforms as well. Consequently, the debate for the firm also covers these facets. On the bullish front, The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS)'s unified streaming platforms are scaling up nicely. During its fiscal third quarter, the firm streaming revenue grew by 11% to $5.53 billion, as it added that streaming achieved a 13% operating margin. Additionally, and as Cramer loves to talk about, the firm's Experiences division, which covers the cruise business, is also performing well. Experiences revenue jumped by 10% to a record $9.97 billion. As a cherry on top, Toy Story 5 also crossed $1 billion at the global box office and allowed The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) to fire on multiple cylinders.
Yet, overall revenue in Q2 missed ******* yst estimates and as the firm does not provide a streaming revenue breakdown, it is difficult to determine whether the growth was a result of price increases or subscriber growth. Additionally, while the Experiences division remains a standout, its revenue is not secular and leads to concerns of causing a downturn for the entire business should The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) come to rely on it too much. Not to mention, Experiences is also a capital intensive business which ends up affecting cash flows and inflation and discounting cutting operating margins to below 24% could lead to weakness. To sum it up, while The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) is creating tailwinds from streaming and experiences, cyclicality for parks and continued troubles with linear offerings can create headwinds. A financial crisis that has long been predicted by Russia experts and Kremlin insiders appears to have finally arrived as banks see depositors scramble to pull out their money amid fears it may be seized.
In the first half of August, Russians withdrew $3.4 billion (286.4 billion rubles), according to central bank data cited by the Washington Post. That's after $7.3 billion was withdrawn in July and $4.5 billion in June.
"Drones are flying. Things are burning down. Nervousness is growing. And people's everyday wisdom may be kicking in that they need to have cash under their pillow and not somewhere in banks where it may never be returned," a former finance official told the Post, adding that banks have much of their capital tied in loans elsewhere.
The situation echoes the iconic scene from the movie It's a Wonderful Life, when panicked depositors show up at the Bailey Bros. Building & Loan demanding their cash, only to learn that it's not all there.
The bank run in Russia may not be as dramatic or precipitous. But the stampede out of lenders this year is on track to nearly double the $24.7 billion pace that was seen in 2022, when Vladimir Putin launched his invasion of Ukraine.

Hull City certainly managed to support their manager Sergej Jakirovic's desire as they shocked Manchester United - and many neutral observers - with a 2-0 win on their return to the Premier League.
The Tigers have been predicted by many to finish bottom, having only squeezed into the Premier League via last season's Championship play-offs.
After finishing third in the previous campaign, United were again being tipped to finish at least in the Champions League places.
But Jakirovic's side claimed a memorable first league win over United since a Second Division success in 1974 thanks to first-half goals from Semi Ajayi and fellow defender ****** el Mendy - one of 11 summer signings and with more to come.

Bronny James addressed his father LeBron James' move to the Philadelphia 76ers after two years of being teammates on the Los Angeles Lakers. Many predicted Bronny would follow the 41-year-old to his next team, but he's stayed with the franchise that drafted him with the 55th pick in 2024.
Bronny, on a trip with the rest of the Lakers roster to Slovenia for a camp organized by Luka Doncic, was asked by a fan about LeBron's move. He had a five-word reaction.
"It's whatever; it's my dad," he said.
Bronny and LeBron shared the court in several games, including last year's playoffs. But they are unlikely to team up again. LeBron doesn't plan on switching teams again. Meanwhile, the Lakers seem invested in Bronny, who they have developed since the start of his career under coach JJ Redick.
The Lakers' decision not to trade Bronny this offseason was another sign they see upside in keeping him, despite his father's departure.

The college football season is only a couple of weeks away from the Week 0 kickoff. Soon, the quest for the College Football Playoff will begin, as 12 teams look to return to the tournament. The Indiana Hoosiers will look to defend their national ******* le.
The Big 12 has a few teams capable of making a serious run at the College Football Playoff. Texas Tech and Kansas State lead that conversation, but teams like Utah and Oklahoma State could also emerge as legitimate contenders. BYU will also look to build on its recent success and remain in the mix for the conference crown.
The Big 12 will be one of the most unpredictable conferences to watch during the 2026 season. Lowe's (LOW) stock rose 2% on Wednesday after the company reported an earnings beat but gave a more cautious outlook, citing "pressure" in do-it-yourself (DIY) consumer spending.
In the second quarter, Lowe's revenue came in at $26 billion, just below the $26.1 billion the Street expected. Adjusted earnings per share, which included a $0.11 benefit from IEEPA tariff refunds, came in at $4.27, above the $4.22 the Street predicted based on Bloomberg estimates.
"Our total home strategy is working," Lowe's CEO Marvin Ellison told Yahoo Finance. "This strategic framework has enabled us to drive five consecutive quarters of positive comps. … With the DIY under pressure, we still have been able to deliver."
Poor weather during the Memorial Day weekend weighed on weather-sensitive outdoor and seasonal categories, as did competitors' use of tariff refunds to put up promotions on items like grills, patio, and live goods.
Amid a tough housing backdrop that disproportionately affects DIY customers, Lowe's same-store sales grew 0.2%, below the 0.7% expected.

Most Liverpool fans expected their club to have a big summer. This was certainly the case when Arne Slot was replaced by Andoni Iraola as manager following the end of the 2025/26 season. This was predicted to be the start of a transformational period for the Anfield club. So far, though, Iraola's appointment has been a false start.
As things stand, Liverpool has made just two permanent signings this summer. One of those was a deal completed in February with Jeremy Jacquet only making the move to Merseyside once the transfer window opened. The other was for Victor Munoz, a winger most expect to be a depth option for the Reds.

Ronald Araujo has joined on loan from Barcelona to give Iraola more depth in the defensive ranks. The Uruguayan fell down the pecking order at the Camp Nou and is hopeful that a switch to the Premier League will revitalise him. Araujo, however, isn't a long-term addition for the Anfield club.

Evans, who joined the 49ers in free agency after a legendary stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has been dealing with a quadriceps injury throughout training camp.
ESPN's Nick Wagoner revealed that Evans pulled up during practice and then had his left foot/ankle wrapped and iced as he watched the rest of the session from the sidelines.

Hark back to the era where teams 'gelling' was a thing. This can only be good news for us as a side, as this will be their first pre-season together.
I know, it's not always as straightforward as that, but I'm holding out hope that some of the young lads will kick on this season and become important members of the squad.
Would it be mad of me to say we should be aiming for the top ten again? I don't think so. If we do indeed improve as a team, we'll be a force to be reckoned with and if we bring some kids through doing it, even better!
I'm looking forward to our FA Cup quarter-final away tie the most.
Personally, I'd still like us to push for another top ten finish. Of course, our current depth may not allow for it but once we have the predicted four to five 'precise' signings in.
