Federal Reserve officials pushed back the date they expect inflation to descend to a 2% annual rate.
It was the fifth time since 2021 that the Federal Open Market Committee has extended the timeline to meet its inflation goal.
Although inflation has fallen from its 2022 peak, a return to the 2% target has proved elusive.
Victory in the Federal Reserve's war on inflation is just over two years away. Will it always be?
Officials at the Fed predicted inflation, as measured by the Personal Consumption Expenditures price index, will finally fall to the central bank's target of a 2% annual increase in 2029. That's later than the Federal Open Market Committee's projections in June.

Weitz Investment Management, an investment management firm, released its second-quarter Q2 2026 investor letter for the "Multi Cap Equity Fund". The letter can be downloaded here. The Multi Cap Equity Fund's Institutional Class returned 7.90% in Q2, underperforming the Bloomberg U.S. 3000 Index's 15.71% gain. Markets rose in the quarter on hopes of de-escalating Middle East tensions and easing oil flow. Investor focus shifted back to artificial intelligence, despite component shortages like processing chips affecting profits and valuations. Valuation-sensitive investors are selective within the AI sector, in contrast to valuation-agnostic indexes that adopt a more relaxed strategy. Additionally, reviewing the Fund's top five holdings could help identify its best picks for 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Weitz Multi Cap Equity Fund highlighted Accenture plc (NYSE:ACN). Accenture plc (NYSE:ACN) is a leading professional services company that provides consulting, industry X, song, and technology and operation services. On September 15, 2026, Accenture plc (NYSE:ACN) closed at $193.40 per share. Over the past month, Accenture plc (NYSE:ACN) was up 3.11%, and its shares lost 21.71% over the past 52 weeks. Accenture plc (NYSE:ACN) has a market capitalization of $118.33 billion.
Weitz Multi Cap Equity Fund stated the following regarding Accenture plc (NYSE:ACN) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"IT services and management consultant Accenture plc (NYSE:ACN) reported results in mid-June that did little to quell investor fears of AI-disintermediation. Accenture has a long history of helping clients navigate technological transformation, and we believe it will again play a role as AI permeates businesses. To date, however, we have maintained a smaller position given the higher-than-usual degree of uncertainty."
Accenture plc (NYSE:ACN) is not on our list of the 40 Most Popular Stocks Among Hedge Funds. According to our database, 69 hedge fund portfolios held Accenture plc (NYSE:ACN) at the end of the second quarter, compared to 64 in the previous quarter. While we acknowledge the potential of Accenture plc (NYSE:ACN) as an investment, we believe certain AI stocks offer greater upside potential and carry less downside risk. If you're looking for an extremely undervalued AI stock that also stands to benefit significantly from Trump-era tariffs and the onshoring trend, see our free report on the best short-term AI stock.

Every ETF.com fund page follows the same simple pattern: etf.com/[TICKER]. Want the Invesco QQQ Trust? Go to etf.com/QQQ. Want the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF? etf.com/VOO. Each page pulls together the fund's real-time market data, fundamentals, holdings, cost, and **** ysis into one place — so you don't have to hunt across a dozen websites to research a fund. Using QQQ as our example, here's what you'll find.
At the top of every fund page is the live quote — the fund's current price, daily change, and an intraday chart showing how it's moved through the trading day. Alongside it you get the essential trading data: previous close, opening price, volume, the day's range, the 52-week range, and real-time bid/ask prices and sizes. This is the information you need to actually place a trade intelligently — especially the bid/ask spread, which tells you how cheaply you can get in and out.
The Summary Data section gives you the fund's vital statistics in seconds: the issuer (who runs the fund), the inception date (how long it's existed), the expense ratio (what it costs you annually), the AUM (assets under management — a proxy for size and liquidity), the index tracked, the segment, and the fund's legal structure. For QQQ, this is where you'd instantly see it's an Invesco fund tracking the Nasdaq-100. These are the first things any investor should check before buying.
One of the most useful features is the Competing ETFs list. Rather than making you research alternatives on your own, the fund page shows you similar funds side by side — with their AUM and expense ratios — so you can immediately see whether a cheaper or larger competitor exists. On the QQQ page, for example, this is where you'd spot alternatives like QQQM. It turns a single-fund lookup into instant comparison shopping.
Right on the page, the built-in Compare ETFs tool lets you pit the fund against any other ticker — QQQ vs. VOO, QQQ vs. QQQM, whatever you choose — and see the differences in cost, holdings, and performance line by line. It's the fastest way to answer the question every ETF investor eventually asks: "Which of these two should I actually buy?"

Bitcoin was trading at $77,121 on Thursday, having clawed back much of its summer losses in a sharp August rally.
The cryptocurrency gained roughly 24% during August alone, rising from around $62,600 at the start of the month to a peak of $80,797 on August 25.
That rebound has reshaped betting on Polymarket, the prediction market platform, where traders wager on which price milestones Bitcoin will hit before the end of 2026.
The market, which has attracted $62.1 million in trading volume since launching in November 2025, currently prices a rise to $90,000 at 44%.
A move to $100,000 is priced at 22%, while $110,000 sits at just 13%. On the downside, traders **** ign an 87% probability to Bitcoin falling below $55,000 again before the year is out, reflecting the scars of a volatile summer.

Kamel told Julian to pay off his $9,700 car loan, build a $30,000 emergency fund, and cap housing payments at 25% of take-home pay.
At a 5.98% 15-year fixed rate and record home prices, Julian's $85,000 salary supports only about $1,400 monthly, which is too little for a duplex.
The 15-year mortgage rate is Julian's biggest obstacle, and a drop back toward February's 5.35% low would unlock more buying power than more saving would.

"All of a sudden you're a bajillionaire" is how the Ramsey Show hosts mocked the pitch a 23-year-old caller named Julian brought them: buy a duplex or triplex as a first home, let tenants cover the mortgage, and skip straight to landlord wealth. Julian said he had about $70,000 in cash, earned about $85,000 a year, still owed $9,700 on a 2024 car loan, and wanted to put at least 10% down because his uncle had told him renters would pay the note. Hosts George Kamel and Jade Warshaw took the call in Dave Ramsey's absence.

Greenlight Capital is an investment management firm specializing in value-oriented strategies. The letter can be downloaded here. Greenlight Capital released its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, reporting a 4.3% decline for the Partnerships and a 1.9% year-to-date gain, net of fees and expenses, compared with gains of 15.2% and 10.2% for the S&P 500 Index. The funds entered the quarter conservatively, but costly trading decisions and macro positions, particularly in gold and U.S. interest rates, weighed on results. Long positions contributed roughly 9%, offset by similar losses from shorts. The letter also highlighted concerns over speculative market conditions, using **** eX's $1.75 trillion IPO valuation and investment-grade rating as examples of excess. Looking ahead, Greenlight is more constructive on Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh's inflation stance and expects positions to recover if inflation moderates and rates remain unchanged. Additionally, reviewing the Strategy's top holdings could help identify its best ideas for 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Greenlight Capital highlighted Primo Brands Corporation (NYSE:PRMB). Primo Brands Corporation (NYSE:PRMB) operates as a branded beverage company in North America. On August 26, 2026, Primo Brands Corporation (NYSE:PRMB) closed at $22.98 per share. Over the past month, Primo Brands Corporation (NYSE:PRMB) returned 0.35%, while its shares have declined 8.67% in the last 52 weeks. Primo Brands Corporation (NYSE:PRMB) has a market capitalization of $8.32 billion, and its stock has traded within a 52-week range of $14.36 to $26.21.
Greenlight Capital stated the following regarding Primo Brands Corporation (NYSE:PRMB) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Primo Brands Corporation (NYSE:PRMB) provides bottled water through the retail channel as well as water delivery to homes and businesses. Its brands include Poland Spring, Pure Life, Mountain Valley and Saratoga. Following its merger with competitor BlueTriton Brands, integration challenges weighed on results and contributed to a material decline in the stock price. More than half a year after the U.S. captured and extracted Nicolas Maduro from Venezuela, the biggest American oil firms haven't returned to operating oilfields in the world's largest oil reserves holder.
Chevron, which has operated in Venezuela throughout Maduro's reign, is extracting and exporting oil to the U.S., but neither ExxonMobil nor ConocoPhillips have returned as negotiations led by Venezuela's state oil firm PDVSA are not progressing as fast as the U.S. Administration probably thought in January when it extracted Maduro and hailed the big U.S. return to Venezuela's oil industry.
There have been some deals signed in recent months, with service providers and smaller American oil companies, which seem more willing to take the risks of operating in the country, which has yet to see a stable political and fiscal environment for large-scale operations.
Earlier this month, Venezuela signed deals with oilfield service major SLB and Hunt Oil Co. as part of efforts to boost investment in its key energy industry, the country's oil minister, Paula Henao, said.

The curtain is finally lifting on who owns ****** eX (SPCX), and the stock is surging over 5% Monday.
More than 1,500 investors disclosed stakes, but only 23 account for over 80% of the reported shares.

Jim Cramer has consistently recommended buying cybersecurity stocks for more than a year. Two firms that regularly cross his radar are Palo Alto Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:PANW) and CrowdStrike Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:CRWD). While the pair operates in the same industry, in today's AI-driven software era, they have taken opposite approaches to their products and business models. The two firms' shares are up by 120% and 98% year-to-date, respectively. On August 6th, Cramer revealed that he had trimmed some of the positions in the firms that the CNBC Investing Club holds in the Charitable Trust:
"We did trim some, we trimmed, some of both, for the Charitable Trust, cause I said, we're up too much, and I just can't do it, I can't live with myself. Up too much, got to take some off the table."
The fact that Cramer trimmed the positions isn't surprising, given the share price performance of the two companies, as the shares of both are up by more than 100% over the past year. Yet, while the CNBC TV host is a fan of both, Palo Alto Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:PANW) and CrowdStrike Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:CRWD) have completely different approaches to software. Palo Alto is aiming to sell its legacy software as part of a bundle that also includes its AI offerings. This bundle includes the firm's Prisma software and sells it with its Cortex AI platform. On the other hand, CrowdStrike Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:CRWD) has gone 'all-in' into AI. As opposed to PANW, the firm is focused on its Falcon Platform, a single agent offering that spans identity management, cloud tracking, and other operations.
Therein lies the split between the bulls and the bears for the two firms. CrowdStrike Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:CRWD)'s bulls argue that its singular focus on AI means that the firm will be able to avoid the pitfalls of fragmentation and will allow users to streamline their data in a single pipeline. However, CrowdStrike Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:CRWD)'s critics argue that the firm is yet to achieve profitabilty and its valuation, as evidenced by a forward P/E multiple of 181, leaves little room for disappointment.
On the other hand, Palo Alto Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:PANW)'s proponents believe that the bundling strategy enables the firm to deliver multiple services under a single roof and grow its moat in the industry. However, the detractors counter by arguing that the discounts offered as part of the bundles can stress Palo Alto Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:PANW)'s margins. They also outline that the firm still depends on legacy firewall platforms which can lead to a loss of market share due to customers choosing lighter options. These worries appear to be reflected in the multiple as well, since Palo Alto Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:PANW) trades at a forward P/E ratio of 93.46.

Management reported treating 12 patients since launch, including 5 in Q2 2026, though revenue was recognized for only 4 treatments due to manufacturing variability.
The company achieved its goal of activating 7 qualified treatment centers (QTCs) by year-end, including high-volume sites like Cincinnati Children's and CHOP.
Operational complexity is driven by ZEVASKYN's 84-hour shelf life, requiring precise real-time coordination between dermatologists, surgeons, and anesthesiologists.
Patient health volatility led to two last-minute biopsy cancellations in Q2, which could not be backfilled due to the extensive pre-scheduling required for surgical slots.

Space Exploration Technologies (NASDAQ: SPCX) has officially announced Aug. 4 as the date of its highly anticipated earnings release for the quarter ended June 30. The earnings release and earnings call with Wall Street **** ysts will provide an updated look at where **** eX is and where the company could be headed.
Here's why investors should also pay close attention to Aug. 6, and what the date could mean for **** eX stock.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
SpaceX went public on June 12, raising $75 billion by selling 555 million shares at $135 per share and then another $10.7 billion from underwriters exercising options to buy additional shares. But with **** eX's market cap at $1.58 trillion at the time of this writing, that leaves the vast majority of shares owned by insiders through restricted stock units and early release eligible shares.
That means that the supply of shares potentially hitting public markets will be far higher than the shares currently available, which will test **** eX's already beaten-down stock price.

Giverny Capital **** et Management, LLC, an investment management company, recently published its second-quarter 2026 investor letter. A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. The model portfolio returned 13.70% this quarter, compared to the S&P 500's 15.20% return. YTD, the portfolio gained 5.89%, while the index increased by 10.21%. The long-term link between stock appreciation and earnings growth is strong; Benjamin Graham described the market as a "voting machine" in the short term and a "weighing machine" in the long term. Despite the S&P 500's 10.2% rise in the first half of the year, 210 stocks lost value, indicating market anomalies. High-quality earnings compounders that benefit from AI capabilities are likely to maintain their competitive edge. Recently, the market has increasingly chased momentum. Tech giants are taking advantage of the optimism of investors amid fears of an AI bubble. Despite strong profit margins, reliance on "moonshot" investments raises sustainability concerns. The author recommends investing in both emerging tech leaders and established firms. In addition, please check the Strategy's top five holdings to know its best picks in 2026.
In its Q2 2026 investor letter, Giverny Capital **** et Management highlighted The Progressive Corporation (NYSE:PGR). The Progressive Corporation (NYSE:PGR) is a leading auto insurer in the United States offering personal autos and special lines products. On July 20, 2026, The Progressive Corporation (NYSE:PGR) closed at $212.23 per share. The one-month return of The Progressive Corporation (NYSE:PGR) was -1.60%, and its shares lost 14.21% over the past 52 weeks. The Progressive Corporation (NYSE:PGR) has a market capitalization of $123.39 billion.
Giverny Capital **** et Management stated the following regarding The Progressive Corporation (NYSE:PGR) in its Q2 2026 investor update:
"Roughly 40% of the Index outperforming the average and 60% underperforming is not so unusual, but two-thirds of that lagging group underperforming by more than 10 percentage points seems like a lot. Even this level of dispersion might make sense if most of the earnings growth in the Index was concentrated in the 200 stocks that were up double digits. This is not the case. We own Index constituents such as Charles Schwab, JP Morgan, Mastercard and The Progressive Corporation (NYSE:PGR) that continue to grow their earnings per share at healthy rates and in some cases at higher rates than usual, but whose stock prices are lagging.
The consensus of Wall Street **** ysts says Progressive will report lower earnings this year than last, as auto insurance rates are in decline after years of rate inflation. Progressive's growth rate is indeed slowing, but for the first half of 2026 its EPS rose 7%. Despite this, the share price dropped 4% for the first half of the year. We added to our position in June. For the first time in years, Progressive has been buying back its stock."

Anyone can become a millionaire. But it takes an understanding of the S&P 500.
An investment of just $170,660 in January in Sandisk (SNDK) would be worth a million today, says data from S&P Global Market Intelligence and MarketSurge. That's a gain of more than $829,000 in just seven months.
What's amazing, though, is that Sandisk is not a one-off winner. A number of S&P 500 stocks didn't require small fortunes to turn people into millionaires this year.
Sandisk is certainly the most dramatic example of turning a chunk of money into a million bucks. Shares of the stock are up 486% this year, making them the top performer in the S&P 500. You only needed to buy 719 shares at the start of the year to have $1 million now.
Shares of Sandisk carry a 99 RS Rating due to their enormous run this year. The company's memory chips are proving to be critical to the buildout of AI in 2026.

In our previous coverage of the stock, we mentioned the company's acquisition of Eaton's Mobility Group. This acquisition was believed to enhance Dana's long-term business profile through higher margins, increased aftermarket exposure, and greater scale. On June 10, both companies entered into definitive agreements for a Reverse Morris Trust transaction. As part of the transaction, Eaton will transfer its Vehicle and eMobility business into the newly created SpinCo before it merges with Dana. A Separation and Distribution Agreement will govern this transfer. Additionally, a Dana subsidiary will also acquire Royal Precision Holding Corp. from Eaton, adding further ***** ets to the combined company.
Dana and SpinCo secured a $2.6 billion short-term bridge loan commitment from Goldman Sachs to help fund the transaction. The financing will be used to support an approximately $1.1 billion cash payment to Eaton and to refinance certain existing Dana debt. However, the transaction is still subject to several conditions, including DAN shareholder approval and multiple regulatory clearances.
Dana Inc. (NYSE:DAN), together with its subsidiaries, provides power-conveyance and energy-management solutions for on-highway vehicles. The company also provides sealing solutions such as gaskets, seals, cam covers, and oil pan modules. It was founded in 1904 and is headquartered in Maumee, Ohio.
While we acknowledge the potential of DAN as an investment, we believe certain AI stocks offer greater upside potential and carry less downside risk. July 13 (Reuters) - Meta said on Monday its data center in Richland Parish, Louisiana, will expand to 5 gigawatts of compute capacity, with investment in the project increasing to more than $50 billion.
The planned data center, known as Hyperion, was earlier projected to deliver more than 2 gigawatts of compute capacity to support training of large language models, the technology behind tools such as ChatGPT.
Here are some details:
• The announcement comes as environmental and consumer groups increasingly push back against the energy-intensive buildout.
• U.S. environmental law group Earthjustice's request to investigate the financing of Meta's Louisiana data center project was denied earlier this year.
