The Texas Rangers have recalled infielder Cody Freeman and purchased the contract of Marco Gonzales from AAA Round Rock. To make room on the active roster for the pair, the team has optioned infielder Cam Cauley and pitcher Ben Peoples to AAA Round Rock. To make room for Gonzales on the 40 man roster, the Rangers designated pitcher Luis Curvelo for ***** ignment.
After Jacob deGrom went just two innings yesterday, the Rangers need someone in the pen who can give them length. Peoples has options so he goes down, and Gonzales returns to the Rangers for his second stint with the club this season.
The motivation behind the decision to swap out Cody Freeman for Cam Cauley isn't quite as clear. Freeman was in the mix for an Opening Day roster spot, but has missed much of the year do to back and neck issues. The Rangers reportedly like the energy that Freeman brings, however, and with the lineup currently feeling very flat, it may be that he's viewed as being able to provide a shot in the arm.
Curvelo, meanwhile, will end up on the waiver wire, and I'm guessing he'll clear waivers. He has regressed from last year, with a 9.58 major league ERA and 8.42 AAA ERA, and has been both wild and homer ***** e.

A potential new destination has emerged for former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba, whose time at AS Monaco has come to an end.
A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Monaco have made the decision to terminate Pogba's contract after he sustained a fresh injury setback.
Pogba has endured an extremely challenging time since departing United as a free agent in the summer of 2022. His time at Juventus came to an abrupt end when his contract was terminated, following a second stint marred by fitness issues and inconsistent performances.
He was then handed a four-year suspension following a positive test for a prohibited substance, though that ban was subsequently cut to 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport after the player lodged a successful appeal.

IanGarry says he had no intent of starting a feud with KhamzatChimaev.

Garry defeated BelalMuhammad last November, with ArmanTsarukyan finishing Dan Hooker inthe main event of the same card in Doha, Qatar. Chimaev, who was inTsarukyan's corner, then had an altercation with Garry backstage, which "The Future" recently revisited.
Garry shook hands with the entire team and also patted Chimaev onthe back. The latter then seemingly felt provoked and pushed Garrybefore security stepped in.

Garry recently shared his side of the story, claiming he had nomalicious intent when he was greeting Chimaev and his entire team. The Irishman also notes that Chimaev didn't immediately react whenhe patted him. Garry claims Chimaev was fired up only after peoplestepped in between them. He believes Chimaev would have gottenphysical when they were in proximity if he really wanted to.

"Me and Khamzat aren't boys," Garry told Full Send MMA. "When I goto a team and there's Arman Tsarukyan tying his shoelace, I saidcongrats to him, I said congrats to his other coach and congrats toone more. And I leave one guy out and I didn't see him. And I go,'Oh sh*t, sorry champ, how are you?' We were cool, we were fine atthat point. It was only when someone stepped in between us that itwas a problem. If he wanted to suplex me and put me on my skull, hewould have done it when I [leaned on him]. Go watch my bodylanguage again… In no way, shape, or form was it aggressive. It waspurely out of respect; there was no mal intent."

Chimaev (15-1) lost his middleweight **** le to SeanStrickland in a massive upset this past May. The Chechen-bornfighter is now rallying for a rematch against Strickland.Meanwhile, Garry (17-1) is scheduled to challenge IslamMakhachev (28-1) for the Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight **** le in the mainevent of UFC330 on Aug. 15 at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia.

Next up in the opponent preview series is the Penn State Nittany Lions. The team that Rutgers (and several other teams around the region) love to hate the most, and the team that handed the Scarlet Knights a truly bitter and heartbreaking defeat 40-36 in Piscataway a season ago. Similar to Rutgers, Penn State is going through a bit of a transition as they settle into the Matt Campbell era after letting go of longtime head coach James Franklin midseason following some surprising losses.
However, an easier Big Ten schedule might mean that the Nittany Lions gain their confidence by the time the Knights head into the Lions' den in late November. This could be Rutgers' hardest road game of the season, as the Knights will previously face Boston College, Maryland, Northwestern, and Wisconsin away from SHI Stadium. Rutgers will have had their chances at several Big Ten wins by this point, but how will the Nittany Lions look in their first year under Campbell?
The Nittany Lions will have a whole new look in 2026, with the offense featuring several former Iowa State Cyclones, including quarterback Rocco Becht, running back Carson Hansen, and wide receivers Chase Sowell and Brett Eskildsen.
The running back room will have a solid one-two punch, with Hansen rushing for 950 yards with the Cyclones while Ohio State transfer James Peoples will look to be his explosive counterpart with the ability to support the passing game from the backfield.
Penn State has often struggled lately at wide receiver, but Sowell and Eskildsen combined for over 1,000 receiving yards from Becht last year. In addition, sophomore Koby Howard flashed last season despite limited action and will likely start in the slot for the Lions.

The San Francisco 49ers personnel department has been busy as they deal with having 20 players currently injured. According to Wednesday's transaction wire, the team worked out several players before they signed wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge.
The 49ers officially terminated a pair of vested veterans in Cam Sample and Kevin Givens. They were injured/waived.
Here is a list of players the 49ers worked out, not counting Hodge:
OG Braden Daniels
OT Ryan Mosesso
OG Kion Smith
WR Kristian Wilkerson
WR Donovan Peoples-Jones
The 49ers have been thin at wide receiver since the beginning of the week. Since the week began, offensive linemen Brett Toth had an undisclosed injury, while Carver Willis was in the concussion protocol.

Rays 3, Rangers 2
What an unpleasant series.
The Rangers allowed 7 runs in this series but still lost two of three, due to scoring just 6 runs.
That's pretty terrible.
The Rangers rolled with a bullpen game in this one. The pitchers the Rangers used: 1) Cole Winn, who is only still on the roster because he's out of options; 2) Marco Gonzales, who was out of baseball in 2025, was picked up in June after being released by the Padres after posting a 7.99 ERA in AAA, and who was promoted by the Rangers after putting up a 8.64 ERA for Round Rock; 3) Peyton Gray, was was pitching in Indy League ball in 2022 and 2023, and in the Mexican Pacific Winter League from 2022-25, before being signed by the Rangers prior to the 2025 season; 4) Robby Ahlstrom, who was in AAA and not on the 40 man roster at the start of the season; and 5) Ben Peoples, who has been pitching professionally since 2019, had never pitched above AA until 2025, and who made his major league debut for the Rangers this season after they acquired him from the ChiSox, for whom he was toiling in AAA.

The Senate took its first major step in fulfilling one of the late Sen. Lindsey Graham's biggest desires: levying bone-crushing sanctions against Russia.
A bipartisan swell carried the sanctions package through its first hurdle on an 86-12 vote, which has gone through several iterations in the time since it was first formulated by Graham and Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn. He explained that at its core, the package was designed to stop purchases of Russian oil and gas that was "fueling Putin's war machine."
"Ukraine's fight is our fight," Blumenthal said. "Nobody believed that more deeply and passionately than Lindsey Graham. He lived it, and this vote is a step forward."

New York Knicks forward Josh Hart took exception to Draymond Green's critique of Jalen Brunson, who received plaudits for his financial sacrifice to help his team win this year's NBA championship.
Brunson left $113 million on the table when he signed a contract extension in July 2024 to give the Knicks more flexibility to build a stronger team around him. During a recent episode of the Club 520 podcast, Green thinks that a player of Brunson's caliber shouldn't have taken a discount
"It's the New York Knicks, bro. They can afford it. You ain't got to take no discount for them to get paid… He the top guy. Let Josh Hart or somebody else take less. They in my role. I don't know what he doing. That's $100 million," Green explained.

It's always interesting to get a players take on the game, and as a cover athlete on EA Sports NCAA College Football 2027, Notre Dame star cornerback Leonard Moore has been part of the games social media campaign.
Three of the stars, Moore along with Miami wide receiver Malachi Toney and Oregon's Dante Moore each ranked their personal top-3 rivalries of college football. The Irish star had a very interesting list, which didn't have his team at the top.
He has Notre Dame and USC as his No. 3, followed by Ohio State and Michigan then at the top was Texas and Oklahoma. It's hard to argue with this ranking, but it should be noted that each of the players picked "The Game". Two of the three picked the "Red River Rivalry", meaning those two games most likely are at the top of many peoples lists.
It hard to say if the "Battle for the Jeweled Shillelagh" was still active it would get more hype, but that's the reality of the situation. The game could be played in the future, but it does seem like without any recent additions to the rivalry, will start to fade in peoples minds as one of the top matchups.
Moore had a pretty solid list, which rivalry games would make your top-5?

Manchester United defender Noussair Mazraoui gave a fine account of himself at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He was part of the Moroccan side that reached the quarter-finals of the tournament, where they were beaten by France.
Mazraoui featured in all six games at the summer's spectacle, starting all but one of them, and managed to impress in the left-back role. The 28 year old even filled in at centre-back against France in the quarter-finals, but failed to inspire his team to a win.
Nevertheless, the Moroccan left the tournament with his head held high and underlined why he remains highly regarded at Old Trafford. The player's versatility was already evident last season, when he operated at centre-back with aplomb in the 1-0 win over Chelsea.
His performance at the World Cup earned him further admirers across Europe. A previous report relayed by The Peoples Person suggests that former United head coach Ruben Amorim is keen for a reunion with the Moroccan in Serie A.
Mazraoui arrived at the Theatre of Dreams in the summer of 2024 from Bayern Munich and has registered 77 appearances for United to date. Of these, 49 came under Amorim, who was removed from his position in January this year.

Manchester United’s move for Aston Villa midfielder Youri Tielemans has been described as “underwhelming” by legendary club centre-back Gary Pallister.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein broke the news this morning that United are in “advanced talks” with Aston Villa to sign the Belgian, and this was followed shortly afterwards by a trademark “Here we go!” from transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
Tielemans is a name that has emerged unexpectedly as United try to rebuild a decimated midfield this season, following the departure of Casemiro and the ACL injury sustained by Manuel Ugarte during the World Cup. In an exclusive interview with The Peoples Person hosted by NetBet Sport, Pallister said it was not the kind of signing he had expected.
“I think we’ve all felt a bit underwhelmed,” he said. “We’re talking about targets like [Elliot] Anderson and [Sandro] Tonali at the end of the season, and we were all licking our lips at them.”
“Especially Tonali – he’s, he’s got the Manchester United stamp all over him. Anderson, we’ve seen what he’s doing at the World Cup at the moment. He’s been that ball-winning, hungry midfielder that we maybe needed as well. They’ve slipped through the net.”

On May 2, the Connecticut Sun played at PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford for the final time. While the night ended with an 86-83 loss to the Dallas Wings, it certainly was a win for Connecticut basketball.
Before fans even began filling the seats, Dallas Wings General Manager Curt Miller noted his predictions of it feeling like a Dallas Wings home game. This is especially due to the Wings’ backcourt duo, Azzi Fudd and Paige Bueckers, making their way back to Connecticut one last time.
“They’re both generational players,” Miller said pre-game. “They’re certainly cornerstones of what we’re building, and we think it’s going to be a very special time for the Dallas Wings.”
Bueckers then went on to have one of her best games so far this season, finishing with 25 points, seven rebounds, and seven ******* ists. 11 of those points came from the fourth quarter alone.
It was Bueckers’ and other UCONN alums’ last night playing basketball in Connecticut. The closeness and competitive matchup in itself was only a nutshell of what that arena has meant to Connecticut basketball over the years.

Manchester United need midfield reinforcements urgently after INEOS failed to land three of their top targets so far.
The Red Devils have so far been priced out of moves for Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali and, most recently, Mateus Fernandes.
Alex Scott is reportedly next on the agenda, but Bournemouth have sent a clear message to INEOS regarding their midfield talisman.
With the Englishman’s rising price another potential concern, United could switch their attention to Scott’s club teammate instead.
It has been relayed by The Peoples Person that United’s ***** ysts are admirers of Tyler Adams, with the American considered better than Manchester City superstar Rodri in certain aspects.

Manchester United failed to sign Mateus Fernandes from West Ham United despite his widely reported preference to move to Old Trafford.
It is believed that Fernandes was keen to join United and play alongside his idol, Bruno Fernandes. Still, the Portuguese midfielder never really closed the door on other suitors.
Eventually, Tottenham Hotspur agreed to meet his and West Ham’s exorbitant demands to seal a record-breaking transfer. However, this is supposedly not the case with another Hammers star.
Earlier this week, The Peoples Person relayed a Sky Sports report claiming that Crysencio Summerville is the number one target on the left wing for Manchester United.
United have allegedly held initial, exploratory talks with West Ham United over a deal for the Netherlands international, who was one of the standout players in east London last season.

Manchester United are prepared to test their luck in east London once again, as they have now opened talks with West Ham United for another player.
United spent nearly a month chasing Mateus Fernandes but they could not convince West Ham to lower their demands. The Hammers had no reason to offer the Red Devils any discount, given Tottenham Hotspur swiftly agreed to pay a guaranteed £85 million to win the race for the midfielder.
However, the two clubs remain in touch, with United also looking to strengthen their attack.
Earlier this week, The Peoples Person relayed a Sky Sports report claiming Crysencio Summerville is emerging as a leading left-wing target for Manchester United.
Now, talkSPORT reporter Ben Jacobs has claimed that United have opened talks with West Ham over Summerville. “Direct club-to-club contact,” he wrote on X.

The Texas Rangers have purchased the contract of righthanded relief pitcher Ben Peoples from AAA Round Rock, the team announced today. To make room for Peoples on the active roster, the Rangers have optioned righthanded pitcher Winston Santos to AAA Round Rock. With Peoples being added, the Rangers’ 40 man roster now stands at 39.
Peoples was acquired from the Chicago White Sox earlier this week in exchange for A ball catcher Ben Hartl. Peoples, 25, was a 22nd round pick of the Tampa Bay Rays in 2019. The Rays traded him to the White Sox last summer as part of the package for Adrian Houser.
Peoples was a starter until last season, when he started working exclusively out of the bullpen. In 37 innings over 29 appearances in AAA this year, he has a 2.39 ERA with 45 Ks against 21 walks. He will presumably be part of the middle relief mix for the Rangers.

Manchester United’s pursuit of midfield reinforcements has taken another complicated turn this week. The Red Devils are looking to upgrade their squad to address Casemiro’s departure and the unfortunate injury to Manuel Ugarte.
However, two of their priority targets have now slipped through their hands. United were heavily linked with Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson before the beginning of the summer, but recent reports suggest that he is on his way to Manchester City.
INEOS have already secured the services of Ederson from Atalanta, but are keen to add more Premier League-proven quality to their squad. The Red Devils had also identified Mateus Fernandes as the ideal partner for Kobbie Mainoo in the middle of the park.
However, a recent update from The Peoples Person suggests that the Portuguese midfielder is on his way to Tottenham Hotspur. The latest developments have thrown United’s plans up in the air, although they remain linked with several high-profile midfielders, including Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni.
In many ways, Tchouameni is the ideal candidate to fill Casemiro’s boots at the Theatre of Dreams. The French midfielder understands the demands of playing for a top club and is a mainstay for both club and country.

Manchester United sorted out their goalkeeping department last summer by investing in Senne Lammens. The Belgian custodian was a relatively unknown figure but became a household name following an impressive debut campaign with the Red Devils.
Lammens’ stunning form has all but ended the error-prone Andre Onana’s chances of salvaging his Old Trafford career. The Cameroonian spent last season on loan at Trabzonspor, and a recent report relayed by The Peoples Person suggests that he is all set for a second temporary stint with the Turkish club.
Meanwhile, Altay Bayindir’s future also remains up in the air at the moment. The Turkey international is behind Lammens in the pecking order and has also been linked with an exit from the Theatre of Dreams.
Another player whose future at United could be affected by the Belgian custodian’s arrival is Radek Vitek.
Vitek joined United’s academy from Sigma Olomouc in the summer of 2020 as a 16 year old and caught the eye in the youth ranks. After successful loan spells with Accrington Stanley and Blau-Weiß Linz, the custodian signed a new contract with the Red Devils and moved to Championship side Bristol City last summer.

Ask her coaches to come up with a word to best describe Addison Kilmer and they come up with different adjectives.
No matter which one they use, though, they are synonymous with winning.
A three-sport standout, the Mountain View senior brought championships and notoriety to the school's girls volleyball and girls basketball teams and success to the softball team. In the process, she carved out one of the most impressive four-year careers seen in the Lackawanna League, particularly on the basketball court.
As a result, Kilmer is The Times-Tribune Female Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive year. She received the honor Thursday night at the 76th annual Times-Tribune Athlete of the Week Awards Ceremony at Lackawanna College's Peoples Security Bank Theatre.
"Her high sports IQ and her willingness to listen and learn and take what is offered from coaches and apply it to all three sports," Mountain View girls basketball coach Corey Gesford said. "Obviously, she's a great athlete. She takes those athletic skills and applies what she's been taught and that's enabled her to be as successful as she's been."

Tony Blaisure admits he is a competitive person. He was that way when he played basketball and baseball at Elk Lake High School and when he played basketball at Lackawanna College.
But when his playing days stopped, he needed something to stoke his competitive fire.
Coaching and officiating do that.
For more than 40 years, Blaisure has been on the sidelines at Elk Lake as a coach and administrator. He also has been on the field officiating high school and collegiate games.
That longevity and dedication makes Blaisure the 54th recipient of the Joseph M. Butler Memorial Award. It was presented to him Thursday night at the 76th annual Times-Tribune Athlete of the Week Awards Ceremony at Lackawanna College's Peoples Security Bank Theatre.

After months and months of slow recovery news and drama, Tom Aspinall is ready to return to the octagon.
The undisputed UFC heavyweight champion hasn’t fought since October 2025 when he was badly poked in both eyes by opponent Ciryl Gane. Thus began a lengthy saga that saw Aspinall undergo multiple surgeries to correct issues with his sight. Back in February it was revealed that his depth perception was so bad he couldn’t drive and missed peoples’ hands when trying to shake them. Things looked bad.
Now, things are starting to move in the right direction again, health-wise at least. On the business side, there may be a new stumbling block: Aspinall’s new manager Eddie Hearn, who also happens to be UFC CEO Dana White’s biggest rival in boxing. Since taking Aspinall on as a client, Hearn has questioned the amount of money the UFC paid Aspinall and vowed to get his client what he deserves.
The UFC is more of a ‘Take it or leave it’ kind of org when it comes to accepting the pay you signed a contract for, especially if you come at them wrong about it. So the good news is that Tom Aspinall is ready to sign his next fight. The bad news is there may be rocky negotiations ahead that could kill things just as surely as those eye injuries did.
“Honestly, this is a dangerous fight,” Hearn told Ariel Helwani of the Ciryl Gane rematch. “And some people still refuse to acknowledge that [Tom] had four eye operations and was told quite clearly he could have lost his vision. You’ve got to go back in there, do the same kind of thing, could happen again. This time it could be worse, or it could be a back of the head blow. All these other fouls that you see, it’s going to be that kind of fight. It’s not going to be easy.”

Manchester United have confirmed a hugely exciting update on their multibillion-pound Old Trafford regeneration project.
United have released a statement, confirming that the club has secured the majority of the land required to construct a brand new state-of-the-art 100,000-seater stadium.
In March of last year, United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe announced ambitious proposals for a new stadium, which is destined to become the largest in the country and will sit on a site adjacent to the club’s historic Old Trafford home.
The 370-acre regeneration project is expected to deliver approximately 15,000 new residential units, including affordable housing, generate 48,000 jobs in the local area and more than 90,000 across the UK, and add in excess of £7 billion each year to the economy.
The main obstacle standing in the way of progress had been an inability to reach an agreement with Freightliner for the land required to construct the new stadium this summer, though a report covered by The Peoples Person indicated that United were optimistic about a resolution.

Manchester United are monitoring several talented young footballers right now, including versatile Chelsea defender Josh Acheampong. However, it now appears that prising him away from Stamford Bridge this summer will be next to impossible.
The Red Devils are gearing up for an eventful summer, with the midfield now at the centre of their transfer activity. A move for Atalanta’s Ederson appears to be all but complete, although an official confirmation is pending.
The Brazilian is unlikely to be the only addition to the squad over the summer, with the English giants keen to further strengthen the middle of the park. There are plans to invest in attack and at left-back as well in preparation for the much-awaited return to the Champions League next season.
While a new centre-back is not a priority at the moment, INEOS will be tempted to consider options, especially with Harry Maguire at the twilight of his career. A previous report relayed by The Peoples Person suggests that United have identified Acheampong as an option to replace the veteran defender at the Theatre of Dreams.
Acheampong joined Chelsea’s academy in 2014 and was included in the Under-8 squad. His progress through the ranks was steady and impressive, and culminated in a first-team bow in May 2024.

Atalanta star Ederson has provided a huge update on his move to Manchester United.
Earlier this month, a report covered by The Peoples Person confirmed that United had reached an agreement with Atalanta to sign Ederson for an initial €40.5m (£35m).
Heading into the summer window, United’s top priority was bolstering the midfield and they have made a real statement of intent by quickly wrapping up a deal for Ederson, whose Atalanta contract expires in 2027.
Ederson was identified by Michael Carrick and director of football Jason Wilcox to replace Casemiro, whose time at Old Trafford has come to an end after the expiry of his contract. United also have an agreement in place with Ederson over personal terms.
The deal could eventually be worth up to €45m (£38.8m).

Legendary Manchester United and England defender Wes Brown says there will need to be “sorries on both sides” if Marcus Rashford is to reintegrate into the Manchester United squad.
After a public bust-up with former manager Ruben Amorim, the academy graduate left United on loan, first to Aston Villa and then to FC Barcelona.
The Blaugrana had an option to buy the England international outright for €30 million (around £26 million), but despite a good run of form in Catalunya, they signed Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon and passed on Rashford. With a year left on his contract at United and with Amorim now having been replaced by Michael Carrick, speculation has been rife around Rashford’s future and whether it could be at United.
Brown has previously told The Peoples Person that he would like to see the Wythenshawe man back at Old Trafford. And today, in an exclusive interview hosted by BetGoodwin the morning after Rashford netted for England against Croatia, we asked him if he thought there was a chance that the 28-year-old could play for United next season.
“He’s somebody that could easily come back in, he’s a homegrown player,” Brown said. “Yes, there might have to be discussions and there might have to be some sorries on both sides, but at the same time, there’s no reason that it can’t be sorted out because he’s in really good form.”

Manchester United have beaten two of Europe’s biggest clubs to the signing of a Liverpool prodigy.
Earlier this month, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United hold “strong interest” in Liverpool’s 16-year-old striker.
However, the report also mentioned Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund as his suitors. Both Bundesliga giants sent scouts on multiple occasions to watch the young goalscorer.
According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, Manchester United have now won the race for Vincent Joseph.
It is claimed that Joseph is set to leave Liverpool and join their fierce rivals after agreeing to put pen to paper on a scholarship deal in Manchester.

Manchester United are looking to strengthen out wide, with Michael Carrick wanting a specialist to operate down the left flank.
Crysencio Summerville has emerged as a concrete target, even though West Ham are proving a tough nut to crack during negotiations.
A move for the Dutchman depends on INEOS’ ability to offload Marcus Rashford, but the co-owners seem confident of getting rid of the Mancunian if TEAMtalk are to be believed.
They have claimed that the Red Devils have opened negotiations with the Hammers, launching a formal enquiry for the winger, who is lighting up the World Cup.
It has previously been relayed by The Peoples Person that the 24-year-old’s wage demands have meant there is very little chance for Serie A clubs to clinch a deal.
