Garry claims Chimaev was fired up only after peoplestepped in between them. He believes Chimaev would have gottenphysical when they were in proximity if he really wanted to.

After the Fever beat the Sky, Fever head coach Stephanie White commented on the controversial play.
"I mean, look, it was a hard foul," White said at her postgame press conference. "I don't think that DiJonai intentionally came out to get her across the neck like she did, but it did happen, and I thought it was the right call. But one of the things about [Carrington] is that she's gonna play her ******* off, man. She's gonna compete. ******* ody's gonna go walking in for a layup. I don't oppose the hard foul, but I also don't think she intentionally went for the neck."
Before returning home to Indiana to become the Fever's head coach in November 2024, White was head coach of the Connecticut Sun for the 2023 and '24 WNBA seasons, winning the 2023 WNBA Coach of the Year award. She coached Carrington on the Sun for those two years. So, if anyone not named DiJonai Carrington has the authority to speak on her playing style, it's White.

The Indiana Fever have been at the center of what has seemed like one controversy after another throughout the 2026 season. Most recently, teh discourse surrounding the team has been dominated by a hard foul that Chicago Sky guard DiJonai Carrington had on Sophie Cunningham.
In the aftermath of the foul, which led to all sorts of outrageous responses, White said that she didn't feel Carrington had any malicious intent behind what was an admittedly reckless play.
"Look, it was a hard foul," White said. "It did happen, and I thought it was the right call. One of the things about [Carrington] is that she's going to play her ***** off, man. LAS VEGAS (AP) — The trial of a man accused of orchestrating the killing of Tupac Shakur started this week with jury selection, almost 30 years after the rap legend was gunned down near the Las Vegas Strip.
Attorneys began vetting potential jurors Monday for the case, which centers on one of the hip-hop world's defining moments and enduring mysteries. Seven potential jurors were asked to return Thursday afternoon as attorneys continue the selection process Tuesday and Wednesday. A total of 16 jurors will be selected for the monthlong trial.
Duane "Keffe D" Davis, 63, has pleaded not guilty to murder with a deadly weapon with the intent to promote, further or ******* ist a criminal gang in the rapper's death. At the time, Davis was a leader of the South Side Compton Crips in California.
Family members of Shakur were among those who gathered at a Las Vegas courthouse for the beginning of jury selection, which could continue through much of this week.
"Whoever had anything to do with it, whoever set it up, whoever had any hand in it should be locked up in prison," said Shakur's cousin, Kendrick Lesane.

Arsenal have no intention of encouraging a Martin Zubimendi exit this summer, despite renewed interest from Real Madrid in the Spain international, according to Football London. The situation is understood to be clear at Emirates Stadium, Mikel Arteta wants the midfielder to remain part of his plans, and the club's preference is to keep a player they worked hard to sign.
That said, the reality at elite level is rarely absolute. ****** nal do not want to sell the 27-year-old, but as the original report outlines, "every player has a price." That line alone tells you there is firmness in north London, though not necessarily finality if extraordinary numbers were ever placed on the table.
Real Madrid's admiration is not new. They previously tried to intervene before Zubimendi's move to ****** nal was completed, but were too late. ****** nal had already done the groundwork, built relationships and moved decisively. The club paid a little over £51 million to take him from Real Sociedad, having tracked him for a considerable period and revisited the deal after earlier conditions in San Sebastian made progress difficult.
There is another layer to this story, one that may suit ****** nal. It is understood there is no complete internal alignment at the Santiago Bernabéu over whether to pursue Zubimendi aggressively. That matters. Interest is one thing, consensus is another, particularly when the player is under contract until June 2030 and his current club are under no pressure to negotiate.
For ****** nal, that long-term contract is significant protection. It places control with the Premier League champions and strengthens Arteta's hand after a season in which Zubimendi was heavily involved. SOUTH BEND — Jasper Scaife, freshman punter for Notre Dame football, has provided the early soundtrack of this fall training camp with his thunderous boots.
Just as impressive, however, is the supple silence the Australian's strong hands have produced. So quiet are they when receiving the football from long snapper Joseph Vinci that Scaife, of all people, has emerged as the first-string holder on placement kicks.
"He is a stone-cold competitor," said Marty Biagi, Notre Dame's special teams coordinator and a former kicking specialist himself. "Even when recruiting him, it was like, 'Hey, if I come here, it's all business. I have intention.'"
Scaife, who turns 22 in late September, also shows the sort of advanced attention to detail that kicking coaches love. While playing as a so-called key forward in the Australian and Victorian football leagues back home, the West Perth product handled more than his share of bad hops and wind-blown Sherrins.
"When I was recruiting him, I was watching some of his AFL film, and you can see the intent and the focus," Biagi said. "He is an extremely hard worker, but you can tell he has spent a lot of time or been trained up on the mental aspect of performance."

Different venue, different result. Astros 6. Giants 3. It took extra innings, it took perseverance, and it took Jeremy Pena breaking out of a 0-24 slump. It also took a three-hit night from Cam Smith. The change of scenery from Petco to Oracle made all the difference as the offense finally showed some signs of life in front of 28,070.
For the first time in ten games, Houston would score in the opening frame to start things. Yordan Alvarez recorded his 60th extra base hit, hitting a double before Isaac Paredes moved him over to third with a single. Jose Altuve would bring in Alvarez on a sac fly making it 1-0. The next run would come off the bat of Cam Smith who would leave the yard, jacking his 16th of the year in the 7th. In the top of the 9th, Cam would weave some more magic, singling to right field which brought in pinch runner Nick Allen. Cam would go 3-4 on the night, driving in a pair.
Hayden Wesneski would cruise until the bottom of the fourth. Bryce Eldridge reached on a double. Rafael Devers followed that up with a walk and Oslevivis Basabe would single to load the bases. Drew Gilbert would notch his 23rd RBI of the season on a sac fly, tying things up at 1-1. Taylor Trammell would then make the defensive play of the night, making a spectacular play on a line out from Drew Cavanaugh to close out the inning. The Giants would strand a pair of runners.
However, the next pair of innings, the Giants would take Wesenski deep on multiple occasions. Jung Hoo Lee would hit his 9th homer of the year. That would be followed up by former Astros prospect, Drew Gilbert, who in the seventh went yard. Houston had plenty of opportunities during that window, including a bases loaded opportunity, but Christian Walker grounded out, stranding three. Even with the home runs, for all intents and purposes, Wesenski rendered a decent showing. His seven innings of work was the deepest a starter has gone in a game for Houston since Hunter Brown verses the White Sox on July 25th.
In the 10th inning, LaMonte Wade walked and went to second on a Pena single. They would each score on a clutch double from Isaac Parades. The bottom of 10th was arguably the best move Joe Espada has made this baseball season, sending out Josh Hader for a second inning of relief after previously vowing not to implement. Hader would dazzle, pitching a pair of scoreless innings, registering a pair of K's.

Carrington made her season debut for the Sky on July 30 after recovering from a foot injury. She was ejected from their game against the Fever for a flagrant foul penalty 2, which is given for "unnecessary and excessive" contact, according to the WNBA rulebook.
Carrington, who is Black, fouled Cunningham from behind on a fast-break layup late in the first quarter of the nationally-televised game at the United Center in Chicago. Cunningham, who is white, was knocked to the court from the impact. The play was reviewed and upgraded to a flagrant 2 after officials determined Carrington wound up and followed through on the contact with Cunningham's head and neck.
Cunningham recently made headlines for her comments on transgender athletes, and Carrington emphasized that had nothing to do with the on-court situation.

WNBA rules state simply that "only players who are women are eligible to play in the WNBA." They do not clarify if transgender women are eligible, but the league's commissioner stated in a memo that leaders will discuss the topic this week.
Freedom, a retired NBA player, declared his intent to enter the 2027 WNBA draft in two social media videos posted on Friday. Another former NBA player, Royce White, followed Freedom's lead.
White is on Tuesday's Republican primary ballot for one of Minnesota's seats in the U.S. Senate. He failed to win a nomination in 2022 for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. In 2024, he earned the Republican nomination for a U.S. Senate seat, but lost to Amy Klobuchar in the general election, 56.2% to 40.5%.
"I'm transgender," White told Fox News. "I identify, sometimes, as a woman, for purposes of basketball. I think I'd be unstoppable.

The preliminary configuration of players has been released. Fernando Mendoza is listed as the backup to Kirk Cousins at the quarterback position.
The third quarterback is Aidan O'Connell, who has 17 starts in three seasons with the team. Jacob Clark, an undrafted rookie from Missouri State, is listed as the fourth-string quarterback.
The Raiders seem to be intent on starting the season with Cousins under center, and to not having a true competition between Cousins and Mendoza. It's an approach that cuts against the modern approach of getting highly-drafted quarterbacks ready and putting them on the field, if only to give them the reps that will help the game slow down for them sooner rather than later.
The initial Las Vegas depth chart contains no real surprises. If Mendoza isn't playing by the end of the 2026 season, that will be a major surprise.

The Cincinnati Reds just got swept by a Washington Nationals club that was behind them on the periphery of the National League Wild Card standings at the outset of the series. It's a Nats club that just spent the last two weeks selling off pieces of importance to other clubs as they prepped for the future, a club with clearly more intent on both short and long term determination to be comfortable in their own dealings than the Reds.
Cincinnati is now 5 games under .500, again. They are back in last place in the NL Central and 6.0 games out of the final Wild Card spot, again with 6 teams they'd need to leapfrog to get there with a miracle. And they are devoid of Hunter Greene, again, as he's now out for the rest of 2026 (and likely all of 2027, too).
With any last ditch effort at postseason ball now completely in the ******* per, here's what Cincinnati Reds fans have to look forward to for the rest of the season.
The brightest of bright spots on the 2026 club has been Chase Burns, who has emerged fully as a legitimate ace and signed a long-term contract to be part of the club for a long, long time.
He's going to hit an innings limit quite soon, though. And when he does, he'll either be shifted to a sparingly-used reliever or shut down altogether.

DiJonai Carrington's ejection for a hard foul on Sophie Cunningham has revived debate surrounding another controversial play involving the Chicago Sky guard. Carrington was ******* sed a Flagrant 2 and ejected during Saturday's game between the Sky and Indiana Fever after striking Cunningham in the head from behind. Cunningham was driving for a layup when Carrington attempted to prevent the basket, making contact with her head and sending her crashing to the court.
The frightening fall immediately sparked strong reactions across social media. As the play circulated online, an old video involving Carrington and Caitlin Clark also resurfaced and generated more than 1 million views.
The older clip came from the Fever's 2024 playoff series against the Connecticut Sun, Carrington's former team. Carrington appeared to poke Clark in the eye while attempting to defend the Indiana guard.
Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy reposted the video after Carrington's foul on Cunningham and called her the "dirtiest player in the game." Matières Fécales — literally French for "fecal matter" — has gone from an intentionally provocative outsider project to dressing some of the world's biggest celebrities, including Zendaya, Lady Gaga, Demi Moore and Kylie Jenner.
And yes, the name is intentional.
Canadian designers Hannah Rose Dalton and Steven Raj Bhaskaran founded the label after meeting as fashion students in Montreal. Frustrated with an industry they viewed as wasteful, exclusionary and obsessed with consumption, the pair wanted a name that reflected their criticism of it.
They landed on Matières Fécales — not the more familiar French "merde," or "caca," but the considerably more clinical term for fecal matter.

The A's managed to string together a pair of wins! A day after snapping their nine-game losing streak the club made it two in a row as they won their road trip and series finale against the Boston Red Sox in a close 4-3 contest. They now sit at 47-71 and will stay out of the league cellar for another day.
The Athletics got out to a quick start in this one against a Red Sox club going with a bullpen game. A pair of hits started this game and the A's were in early business. The club did well to cash in at least one run off an RBI groundout from Tyler Soderstrom, but it also felt like a minor wasted opportunity to give their starting pitcher some breathing room before taking to the mound.
It was right-hander J.T. Ginn on the ******* p today making his second start since getting activated off the injured list with a blister. He was looking good in this one, allowing just one run to score in the second to knot this game up at one apiece.
A couple innings later it was Soderstrom back up to bat and this time he hit a leadoff triple to start the fourth. He'd come in to score on the next pitch thanks to another RBI groundout, this one from rookie infielder Tommy White.
Boston would take the lead in the bottom of the fifth thanks to a throwing error from Ginn. He wasn't charged with two runs on his final line but for all intents and purposes they were his responsibility. Ginn would pitch one more frame before departing this game, leaving down 3-2 and in line for a loss.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Look for Tennessee wide receiver Carnell Tate during practice and the rookie can be found kneeling or standing next to veteran Calvin Ridley, listening intently.
The No. 4 pick in April's NFL draft out of Ohio State is learning the **** ans' new offense, trying to fit into the NFL and picking up as much knowledge as possible from someone who knows both well.

Tate is Tennessee's future and arguably Cam Ward's top target already with the preseason opener Thursday night at San Francisco. Ridley? As far as we know, Anthony Richardson's trade request remains on the table, but for now, he remains with the Indianapolis Colts.
"I haven't really even talked to my agent about (the trade request) recently," Richardson said, via The Athletic's James Boyd. "I haven't talked to (Chris) Ballard … I'm not necessarily sure what's going on. But I'm just here right now, trying to make sure I can stamp my foot on this team. …"
Before training camp began, GM Chris Ballard said that the intention at that time was to keep Richardson -- the team isn't going to just give him away.
That said, Ballard also acknowledged that trading Richardson could be a possibility -- or that was the case two weeks ago.
A potentially important date that could help facilitate a trade has already passed.

As it turns out, Caitlin Clark won't be suspended—at least not yet.
Shortly after the Indiana Fever's 90-86 victory over the Chicago Sky on Saturday, the WNBA announced it was rescinding the technical foul that was called on Clark during the game. Had it stood, the technical foul would have marked the third-year guard's eighth of the season, triggering an automatic one-game suspension.
The foul in question came during the third quarter of the contest when Clark made contact with an official after dribbling down the baseline while being defended by Sky guard Natasha Cloud. Crew chief Maj Forsberg told a pool reporter that the former Iowa star was **** sed the technical foul because she "intentionally made contact" with an official and that the league would determine whether any additional penalty would be handed out.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Clark denied that the contact was intentional. Fever coach Stephanie White was also **** sed a technical foul, which she said was the result of the language she used while arguing the call.
"My tech was for saying, 'that's bullshit,' even though I heard the F-bomb the whole **** game," White said. "That's a bad call. Incidental contact when you're flying out of control—and I thought her teammates should have come up to her and talked to her about that as well. I think that's really bad. That **** happens all the time in a game. Officials have to have some awareness in those moments, and it didn't happen."
