Beyond the defeat to AS Monaco last Sunday, it was a bad way for Olympique de Marseille, who lost two players to injury. Geoffrey Kondogbia suffered a muscular injury and, as confirmed by Bruno Genesio, won't be fit to face Paris FC this weekend.
Tochukwu Nnadi sustained a more serious injury. The Nigerian only came on at half-time but did not see out the match. He withdrew with what looked to be a serious knee injury. An ACL injury was feared. The injury is indeed serious, and it is suspected that it is an ACL. Speaking to La Provence, Nnadi's agent revealed that many consultants advised immediate surgery.
However, he has opted against surgery in order to ensure a quicker return. "We are aware of the risks. We know that he could feel pain. We know that it won't be easy, but it is Nnadi's decision," said his agent, who added that the midfielder "could not abandon OM at such a time".
Genesio is lacking options in midfield. Speaking on Friday, he revealed that he had tested full-back Ulisses Garcia in the position.

Coco Gauff returned to the scene of her grand slam breakthrough on a rain-lashed Tuesday night and safely cleared the first hurdle toward another, launching her pursuit of a second US Open ******* le in four years with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Turkey's Zeynep Sonmez beneath the closed roof of Arthur Ashe Stadium.
The 22-year-old American, seeded fourth in New York, arrived with momentum and expectation running particularly high, fresh off her first ******* le of the year in Cincinnati and having shown encouraging signs that the serve which has so often dictated the rest of her game is becoming a more reliable weapon. Now, three years after she first lifted the trophy here, both a third major championship and the world No 1 ranking are within her reach.
Gauff got off to a confident start before a buzzing crowd, crunching a pair of early aces in a love hold, but the 54th-ranked Sonmez held her own in the muscular baseline exchanges throughout the opening five games. Gauff took control in the sixth, breaking her opponent's serve without dropping a point, then steadied herself through an uneven service game to move to the brink of the set at 5-2. Sonmez held to prolong it, but Gauff calmly served it out after 33 minutes as the heavy rainfall pounding the roof overhead reverberated through Ashe like the inside of a bass drum.
The second set was less straightforward. Gauff broke immediately and appeared poised to pull away, but Sonmez responded by attacking the net and taking advantage of a sudden dip in the American's level, breaking back for 2-all with a searing backhand winner. Gauff then had to dig out of a marathon 16-point service game at 2-3, saving three break points before finally escaping with a 115mph ace down the middle to complete the hold for 3-all. "I knew if I could hold that game, I felt confident breaking the next game," Gauff said.
That proved prescient. Sonmez double-faulted twice in the next game to surrender the critical break, before Gauff consolidated for 5-3 and shortly after held at love to close the show after 1hr 20min.

Tottenham have been dealt a cruelly-timed injury blow after Savio was denied a Premier League debut for the club due to a muscular issue.
Savio joined Spurs from Manchester City in an eye-watering £85m deal but got off to a perfect start for the Lilywhites in midweek, coming off the bench and immediately scoring in the 5-0 Carabao Cup win over Charlton.
He was expected to make his league bow for Spurs alongside fellow ex-City team-mate Omar Marmoush against Newcastle in Saturday's late kick-off, but was notable for his absence in the matchday squad.
Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi has now explained why the Brazilian missed out on the visit of the Magpies.
"We had some bad news yesterday," he told Sky Sports. "He suffered muscular fatigue. The medical staff didn't want to take a risk. I agree with them."

Don't call it circular financing. Nvidia doesn't see its efforts to prop up upstarts and bolster key AI players as questionable financial engineering.
Yes, it's true that the beneficiaries of Nvidia's muscular backstops and investments are also its customers. But Nvidia doesn't see the scale of its support as something worthy of suspicion. That's because, the company says, it's building an ecosystem with too many scenarios for Nvidia to win.
A key question from critics of Nvidia concerns the demand for AI components, tools, and infrastructure: Would the growth around AI and the confident projections of future success be attainable without Nvidia's heavy hand?
CFO Colette Kress addressed the criticism head-on during the company's Q2 earnings call on Wednesday.
"We know some will call this circular financing. We see it differently. We are going through a major computing platform shift, the creation of one of the most important technologies in human history, and these are once-in-a-generation companies. Their technology leadership is proven, and their customer traction and usage are skyrocketing."

On August 13, Capricor Therapeutics (NASDAQ:CAPR) held its second-quarter earnings call, just over two weeks after an FDA advisory committee voted 3 to 9 against the company's bid to treat cardiomyopathy in ****** nne muscular dystrophy patients on July 29. That rejection forced a strategic pivot. Management now plans to amend its Biologics License Application to pursue a narrower upper limb skeletal muscle indication, the same measure that carried the HOPE-3 trial's primary endpoint. The shift extends the regulatory timeline, but it also puts the spotlight back on the data that held up best.
Deramiocel's case still rests on real numbers. The HOPE-3 primary endpoint showed a statistically significant slowing of upper limb disease progression, with a 4.5% mean difference favoring the drug and a p-value of 0.029. During a separate advisory committee discussion, feedback on upper limb function was described as directionally supportive of that evidence. The cardiomyopathy subgroup's ejection fraction data held too, showing a 2.8 percentage point treatment difference at a p-value of 0.02, unchanged from the original ****** ysis.
Safety data spans more than 1,300 intravenous infusions across over 200 patients in three clinical trials, with more than 80 patients enrolled in open-label extension studies, some receiving infusions for over five years. The full HOPE-3 data set was published in The Lancet in July following independent peer review. The FDA has indicated it will review the coming BLA amendment and extend the PDUFA date accordingly, and Capricor has already opened regulatory conversations in Europe and ****** an while its manufacturing facility in San Diego remains operational for a potential launch.
The financial picture moved the other direction. Cash and marketable securities fell to $237.9 million as of June 30, 2026, down from $318.1 million at the end of 2025. Second quarter net loss widened to $40.7 million, or $0.70 per share, compared to $25.9 million, or $0.57 per share, a year earlier, as operating expenses climbed to $42.9 million from $27.7 million. Research and development spending rose to $28.9 million and general and administrative costs jumped to $14.1 million from $5.7 million. The company booked zero revenue again.
Complicating matters, the left ventricular ejection fraction result across all patients was revised under the prespecified statistical model from a 2.4 percentage point difference at p=0.04 down to 1.8 percentage points at p=0.09, weakening a key secondary measure. An FDA Bioresearch Monitoring inspection in July produced a Form 483 with one observation. Non-Deramiocel pipeline work remains on hold, and the company's arbitration with NS Pharma over their distribution agreement isn't expected to begin until fall 2026.

Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick's son, James Wilkie, made a surprising statement about his 'modeling career' after showing off his ripped physique in a June photoshoot.
The 23-year-old posed for a series of striking portraits for acclaimed photographer Brad Walsh's book FELLA: Images of Men.
In the images, James shows off his sculpted physique and movie-star looks, posing in a fitted black tank top that highlights his muscular arms and broad shoulders.
Another portrait saw him leaning casually against a fireplace in a vintage graphic T-shirt and paint-splattered pants, while a close-up shot captured his tousled hair, piercing gaze, and undeniable resemblance to both of his famous parents.
The images led many fans to believe that James was setting his sights on a modeling career; however, he has since shut down those rumors.

Céline Dion suffered symptoms for nearly two decades before she was diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome in 2022.
In an interview for the September 2026 issue of Harper's Bazaar, the Canadian superstar recalled how she often experienced severe pain and inability to walk for many years.
"It is a progressive condition. I don't like to say 'disease,'" she told the outlet, before describing how she decided to speak about the health crisis in her 2024 documentary, I Am: Celine Dion. "(The fans) paid for tickets. They bought my records. They gave me that luxury. So the least I can do is tell them that I'm alive."
Stiff-person syndrome (SPS) is a rare neurological disorder characterised by muscular rigidity.
Following the diagnosis, Céline embarked on a course of rehabilitation, which included new medication, physical therapy, and immunotherapy.
In the lead-up to her upcoming residency at the Plenitude Arena in Paris, France, the My Heart Will Go On hitmaker shared that she has been doing regular Pilates sessions to help maintain her mobility.

Joshua Kimmich will not play for Bayern Munich in its friendly against Heidenheim after appearing to experience discomfort in his adductor area during training.
According to Bild (as captured by iMiaSanMia), Kimmich was at Säbener Straße and trained in a group alongside Lennart Karl, Konrad Laimer, João Palhinha, and Manuel Neuer. The Bayern ******* istant captain completed sprint exercises at "varying speeds", but reportedly grabbed his adductors during the session.
Later, Bayern Munich formally announced that Kimmich is out. In addition, Tom Bischof and Manuel Neuer are also not available due to their "heavy workload in preseason."
The timing will be worth monitoring. A minor muscular issue would be particularly frustrating for Kimmich as Bayern continue to build toward the start of the campaign, but the club has little reason to take unnecessary risks in a friendly.
Bayern will surely hope this is nothing more than a precaution and that Kimmich is back to full fitness soon.

Back to league business! Following the international break, FC Bayern Women are back in FLYERALARM Women's Bundesliga action this weekend with the rearranged fixture away to bottom-of-the-table 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam on Saturday 25 February. Kick-off at the Karl-Liebknecht Stadion is at 13:00 CET. From the state of play to the team news, our preview has all the info.
The match against Postdam was supposed to take place at the start of February, but a frozen pitch led to the game being postponed at short notice. After an international break of almost two and a half weeks, head coach Alexander Straus has had just two days to prepare his side for the meeting with the cellar dwellers. Nevertheless, Straus' charges travel to Brandenburg with momentum after the 2-1 victory over fellow **** le challengers Eintracht Frankfurt in the opening match of the second half of the season, their sixth straight win in the league.
Turbine Potsdam's record currently reads nine defeats and one draw. Having finished fourth last term and narrowly missed out on qualification for the Champions League, they face the threat of relegation to the second tier this year for the first time since 1994. Just before the original date for the meeting with Bayern, interim coach Sven Weigang stepped down, with previous **** istant coach Dirk Heinrichs taking charge of the team for the coming weeks. Their first two fixtures of the year have both been called off, meaning this is Potsdam's first competitive game since early December.
These two sides have come up against each other 44 times in the Women's Bundesliga, making it one of the most-played fixtures in the league. The stats are very close, with 19 wins for FCB, 18 for Potsdam and seven draws. The Brandenburg outfit haven't beaten Bayern since 2016, though, and last managed a draw in December 2021.
Along with long-term absentees Giulia Gwinn (cruciate ligament tear) and Jovana **** janović (muscle strain), Strauss is without the services of Sydney Lohmann, who returned home from international duty early due to a muscular problem. Goalkeeper Laura Benkarth will also not travel to Potsdam because of illness.

FC Bayern Women made it 10 Bundesliga wins in a row with a commanding 5-0 victory away at Köln on Saturday, with all the goals coming in the first half. Sydney Lohmann got things going on 11 minutes at the Franz-Kremer-Stadion in Cologne. Klara Bühl then hit a brace either side of captain Lina Magull's finish, before Maximiliane Rall rounded off the scoring on the stroke of half-time.
The result moves Bayern on to 40 points in second place in the Bundesliga, just two points off leaders Wolfsburg, who come to Munich next weekend.
Head coach Alexander Straus made just one change to the team that beat Duisburg 4-0 at home last weekend. Goalkeeper Maria Luisa Grohs was available again after illness and replaced Laura Benkarth. Bayern were without Giulia Gwinn (cruciate ligament), Linda Dallmann (ankle), Carolin Simon (muscular) and Tainara (ankle) in Cologne.
The visitors started well and quickly made it clear that they intended to take all three points back to Munich. Lohmann came close to opening the scoring inside 10 minutes with an effort from the edge of the box, but was denied by the post. However, there was no stopping her only moments later when she pinched the ball off defender Celina Degen and found the far corner. Top scorer Lea Schüller could have doubled the advantage but was thwarted by goalkeeper Manon Klett.
Die Frauen continued to dominate the play and were finally two goals up on 22 minutes when Bühl drove in from the left and found the near bottom corner. The ball was in the Köln net again shortly after when Magull exchanged passes with Georgia Stanway to finish the move. Things weren't over there, either. Lohmann glided into the box on 37 minutes, getting past several defenders before laying the ball back to Bühl to tap in the fourth. And on the stroke of half-time, Rall made it five from Schüller's square ball.

Real Madrid do not have far to go before their pre-season officially comes to a close and their La Liga opener against Espanyol gets underway.
Jose Mourinho has had a very productive pre-season upon his return to the club, with the Portuguese tactician slowly recovering his entire squad.
Madrid have also had the challenge of integrating as many as six new signings into the squad, which is rarely a piece of cake.
One player who still has not featured under Jose Mourinho is Aurelien Tchouameni, with the Frenchman recovering from some muscular discomfort.
Now, according to Arancha Rodriguez, Tchouameni is expected to recover in time for Real Madrid's opening La Liga game against Espanyol.

Dax Shepard, the actor and Armchair Expert podcast host, has revealed his lifelong attraction to muscular men. He discussed his relationship with fitness and the childhood experiences he believes played a role in this fascination while speaking with Taron Egerton on his podcast on August 10. "I f—— love men's bodies more than anything in the world," Shepard confessed.
The 51-year-old actor and comedian said his interest in muscular bodies started when he was young and was heavily influenced by the action stars he watched on screen. While expressing his fascination, he said, "I love muscle so much."
He then went back to his childhood and remembered watching Conan the Barbarian. This is the movie that helped make Arnold Schwarzenegger a major Hollywood star. "Well, for me, I'll explain it as like being born in '75, and it was like my first drive-in movie was Conan the Barbarian," Shepard said.
Referring to Sylvester Stallone, he added, "I was just like, wait a minute, a man can look like a gorilla, and then Stallone was at his height. It was like the birth of muscles."
For Shepard, his fascination with muscles eventually became connected to his childhood. "I grew up in a house with a violent stepdad beating everyone up," he revealed. He explained that seeing Schwarzenegger's powerful physique made him feel that being strong could protect him. "So, when I saw Conan, I was like, 'Oh, if I look like that, I got no problems for the rest of my life.' So that just, that was like, 'Yeah, … If I was Conan, I got no problems," Shepard said.

It didn't take Nasir Wyatt far into his freshman season with the Oregon Ducks before he began impressing, as he recorded his first career sack in the Ducks' second game against the Montana State Bobcats. He logged only 39 snaps but made the absolute most of them, finishing the year third on the team with three sacks, a forced fumble and 11 total tackles.
Primarily deployed on third-down blitzes and various pressures, Wyatt used his 6-foot-2, 228-pound frame to blast past would-be blocker and get to the quarterback in a flash. But what proved to be his superpower also turned out to be his downfall, as a sub-230-pound edge rusher had to be schemed into action. If he were to be on the field on early downs, teams would likely target his side and run the ball right at him, capitalizing on his lean frame.
No more in 2026. With his newly-chiseled, bulky frame, Wyatt arrived at fall camp already impressing and has continued that sentiment through one week, with CBS Sports' Brad Crawford tabbing him as one of the biggest risers thus far infall camp.
"From failing to bulk up early in his career to now tipping the scales at a muscular 245 pounds, Wyatt finally looks the part as one of the Ducks' outside linebackers," Crawford wrote. "Defensive coordinator Chris Hampton said after Oregon's second day of fall camp that Wyatt has a chance to be an "every-down player" this fall, which speaks to his offseason body makeover and what he's shown on the field early. That level of consistency must continue, Hampton says, to warrant extended reps at an uber-talented position group for one of the Big Ten's frontrunners."
Reps won't come easy for Wyatt, who, as a hybrid linebacker/edge rusher, is behind starters Matayo Uiagalelei and Teitum Tuioti, two players garnering early-round buzz in the 2027 NFL Draft class.

Liverpool have agreed a season-long loan deal to sign Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo as Andoni Iraola moves to address his shortage of defensive options.
The 27-year-old Uruguay international is set to provide cover at centre-back and right-back, with Liverpool facing a number of injury problems across their defence.
According to The Athletic, Araujo's versatility is particularly valuable to Liverpool, with Conor Bradley expected to miss the opening months of the season with a knee injury. Joe Gomez is also recovering from a muscular problem, while Giovanni Leoni remains sidelined following an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
Ibrahima Konate left Liverpool at the end of his contract to join Real Madrid, further reducing Iraola's options. Jeremy Jacquet, meanwhile, has yet to feature in pre-season after a serious shoulder injury and a subsequent minor issue.
The defensive shortage was evident during Liverpool's recent tour of the United States, with teenage defenders Ifeanyi Ndukwe and Mor Talla Ndiaye featuring heavily. Full-back Luke Chambers was also used in central defence, while Iraola acknowledged that his squad was "thin" in the position.

The second attempt by Inter to onboard Moussa Diaby in the span of a few months might be short-lived too, and they inquired about Nicolas Gonzalez, who's technically at Juventus but in limbo after Atletico Madrid didn't pick up their option to buy, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.
The Frenchman was a complex target to begin with because of his lofty wages. The Nerazzurri need help from Al-Ittihad and would prefer to include Kristjan Asllani to limit the disbursement. The deal doesn't have a lot of momentum. Furthermore, Bayer Leverkusen have joined the race and are pushing.
Inter expressed interest in Diaby but didn't initiate a real negotiation, while intermediaries suggested tracking Gonzalez. They are mulling over whether to proceed or not. He did okay in Spain, scoring 5 goals in 24 appearances and handling multiple roles amid a few small muscular injuries.
According to Fabrizio Romano (via Goal), Juventus will only let him go permanently this time around. Atletico Madrid passed on a €30M clause, believing they could get better terms afterward. Per La Gazzetta dello Sport, he doesn't want to stay in Turin. A swap deal with Davide Frattesi, who's also on his way out, could be a tangible possibility. They have comparable wages and valuations.
They have suddenly started focusing on very offensive-minded options, perhaps signaling that they might not stop at one acquisition to balance things out. Their Argentinian connection is well-known. A straight-up trade with Juventus could be beneficial for both and could have legs if the two sides acted reasonably, but Frattesi wouldn't find himself in a much better situation competition-wise.

According to Abendzeitung journalist Maximilian Koch, Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies could miss the team's tour of Asia.
Davies, who missed a chunk of last season due to recovery from his ACL tear has been battling a muscular issue for months. The injury limited Davies' participation at the World Cup and still appears to be a major issue for the Canadian star:

Davies' injury history seems to be a point of frustration for the Bavarians, who were wary enough of it to go out and buy former Eintracht Frankfurt left-back Nathaniel Brown earlier this summer.

Now, it might just make sense to take a step back and ensure that Davies can get full healthy. The 25-year-old has had three injuries since last February and could be at risk of being in a perpetual state of injury if he does not take the proper time to rest and recovery.

Jesy Nelson has revealed that one of her baby daughters will have to undergo surgery to treat her scoliosis.
The former Little Mix singer announced in January that her twin daughters Ocean and Story had been diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) Type 1, a rare genetic condition that causes progressive muscle weakness.
In an emotional interview with The Daily Mail about her new documentary, Jesy, 35, revealed that Story has also been diagnosed with scoliosis, or the abnormal curvature of the spine, and would need frequent operations.
In addition, the 35-year-old divulged that both twins, now 14 months, will have surgery soon to change their feeding tubes.
"They're having an operation soon because obviously they're on feeding tubes and the girls basically keep pulling them out because they're causing so much trauma to their nose and throat," she shared.
"So they've now got to have an operation where the food goes into their tummy, because they can't have this tube down their throat anymore because it's causing so much trauma."

England defender Marc Guehi is managing a slight hamstring injury and could miss the World Cup quarter-final against Norway.
Guehi complained of a muscle issue following England's win over Mexico at the Azteca Stadium.
Initially it was hoped that the defender was carrying muscular fatigue and that he would be fit for the game against Norway on Saturday.
But it is understood the Manchester City centre-back has a hamstring strain.
It now remains to be seen whether Guehi can train with the squad on Friday.

France head into this World Cup quarter-final with the poise of a side that know the terrain well. Les Bleus have won every match in North America so far, topped their group with authority and now stand two games from a third successive World Cup final. There is rhythm to their play, composure in their squad and a growing sense that they are timing their run with familiar precision.
Morocco arrive with an equally compelling case. The Atlas Lions are the last African side standing and, technically, carry a 34-match unbeaten run in all competitions into this tie. That sequence speaks to resilience, organisation and belief, all of which have become defining features of their tournament.

Both camps approach the contest with fitness concerns. France are monitoring Aurelien Tchouameni after he missed the last-16 victory over Paraguay, a potentially significant absence given his command of midfield ****** es and ability to protect transitions.
Morocco are also waiting on Ismael Saibari, who has scored three times at World Cup 2026. He was forced off against Canada with a muscular problem, leaving his availability in doubt for one of the biggest nights in his nation's football history.

Ismael Saibari is in a race against time to be fit for Morocco's World Cup quarter-final against France on Thursday.
The new Bayern Munich signing was forced off with a muscular problem in the first half of Morocco's 3-0 last-16 win over Canada.
According to reports, examinations have shown that the injury isn't serious, but it remains uncertain whether Saibari will recover in time to feature against France.
Saibari wasn't pictured in training on Tuesday as he continued his rehabilitation programme under the supervision of the medical staff.
If he's not deemed fit to play, Soufiane Rahimi is expected to start up front for Morocco after coming off the bench to score against Canada.

Bronson Reed is still on the shelf recovering from a torn triceps, but a Fourth of July social media post has WWE fans paying close attention to his rehabilitation progress. Reed shared a new photo on Twitter celebrating Independence Day while posing with an American flag and wearing merchandise from Steve Austin, giving a shoutout to the Texas Rattlesnake for the gear. “Heard its America’s birthday. Shout out to steveaustinBSR for his swag. WWE #America ,” Reed wrote.
The post quickly generated discussion, with many fans noting that Reed appeared noticeably leaner and more muscular than he had in recent months. Reed’s absence from WWE programming dates back to February, when he suffered the torn triceps during a Men’s Elimination Chamber qualifying match on the February 23 episode of Raw against Jey Uso and The Original El Grande Americano.
Reed was reportedly scheduled to win that match before the injury forced a change in plans. Those plans ultimately called for Uso to pick up the victory instead. Reed subsequently underwent successful surgery to repair the damage.
Before being sidelined, Reed had been one of Raw’s more prominent figures as a member of The Vision alongside Bron Breakker, Logan Paul, and Austin Theory under the leadership of Paul Heyman. His spot within that faction and the momentum he had built heading into WrestleMania season made the timing of the injury unfortunate. No return timeline has been officially announced, but the physical condition he is showing in his social media posts suggests he is progressing well through his recovery.
