Tennessee ****** ans coach Robert Saleh announced that third-year defensive end Jaylen Harrell and rookie tight end Jaren Kanak will both be put on season-ending injured reserve with injuries sustained in the preseason opener against the San Francisco 49ers on Aug. 13.
Harrell, who logged 4.5 sacks for the ****** ans as a rotational outside linebacker in 2025, tore his ACL and Kanak, the ****** ans' seventh-round pick in 2026, tore his pectoral muscle.

Most NFL head coaches spend August talking down workloads and hyping committee backfields. The training camp stories are about guys who put on 10 pounds of muscle or are in the best shape of their lives. The coachspeak is always there, and fantasy football managers can't help but roll their eyes with every headline.
However, one first-year NFL coach did the opposite this week. He went live on a national sports talk show and promised to run his best player into the ground, quite literally, and fantasy football managers should be thrilled.
Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley appeared on the Rich Eisen Show and laid out a plan for De'Von Achane that sounds built for fantasy lineups. He said the running back got a warning that morning. "I just gave Achane a heads-up this morning and told him he better be in good shape. Because I told him there might be some games where I might have to pick him up and carry him back into the locker room because he's going to be so tired."
Then Hafley went further, adding that he doesn't want Achane asking for a breather by tapping on his helmet. "And I told him, I don't ever want to see one of these head taps all year. And he looked me right in the eye and said, 'You'll never get that head tap from me.' I said, 'Don't worry, buddy. After you touch the ball 40, 45 times, I might have to pick you up, and I'll carry you back in the locker room.'"
Hafley, who's definitely just having fun in the moment and not talking about a serious strategy, also praised the 24-year-old back as a leader and a smart player. "I love the guy. On August 4, the FDA accepted for review a supplemental Biologics License Application for Botox Cosmetic to treat masseter muscle prominence, the jaw-muscle bulge that can give a face a wider, squarer look. If cleared, Botox Cosmetic would become the first and only neurotoxin approved for that use in the US and the fifth aesthetic indication for a drug that already anchors AbbVie's fastest-growing units.
The filing rests on two Phase 3 studies, M21-416 and M21-417, both of which hit their main goal and showed statistically significant improvement in masseter prominence against a placebo, with p-values of 0.0046 and 0.0014. Twice as many treated patients called themselves satisfied compared with the placebo group, and the safety data lined up with Botox's long track record, with no new red flags. That is the AbbVie playbook in miniature: squeeze another approved use out of a drug it already owns rather than starting from zero.
The broader business backs that pattern up. In the quarter ended June 30, net revenue came in just under $17 billion, up more than 10% year over year, with immunology sales climbing 15% on Skyrizi and Rinvoq and neuroscience revenue jumping more than 20%. Management raised its full-year outlook for the second time this year, and the Humira patent-cliff drag that weighed on results for two years now looks largely behind the company.
Most of AbbVie's US product sales still flow through just three wholesale distributors, McKesson, Cardinal Health, and Cencora, a concentration that leaves the company exposed if any one relationship sours. The balance sheet carries real leverage too: a debt-to-equity ratio of roughly -21.1x as of its December 2025 filing means liabilities outweigh shareholder equity outright, and a current ratio near 0.7x offers less short-term cushion than many healthcare peers hold.
Patent protection for Skyrizi and Rinvoq remains a multi-year risk, and the Inflation Reduction Act already allows government price negotiation on products including Imbruvica and, notably, Botox itself. The pending $10.9 billion Apogee Therapeutics acquisition adds fresh debt and integration risk on top of that. Oncology revenue slipped almost 2% in the latest quarter, and the stock's 8% gain this year has trailed the S&P 500's 13%, with a trailing P/E near 70 that mostly reflects acquisition-related charges rather than the underlying business.

Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing went through the second-opinion carousel — "opinions on opinions," as he put it — after his elbow started bothering him on Aug. 2 while playing catch in the outfield before the a game against the Red Sox.
"We then come to an agreement that surgery is not necessary," Rushing said Tuesday. "So, we're going to rehab the muscle on the inside of my forearm. And the details as to timeline, I don't really have any for you. But at the same time, I can say it feels 10 times better than it did a week ago. And as soon as I can be throwing a baseball, I will be."
Rushing said that Sunday was the first time he'd felt pain while throwing — "didn't feel a pop or anything, but felt pretty serious as it kind of tightened up on me a little bit."
Manager Dave Roberts said last week that Rushing's MRI showed a slight UCL tear. Rushing added Tuesday that something similar had appeared on previous scans, without symptoms.
"It's something we've known about, but it hasn't gotten worse over the years," Rushing said. "And so it puts my arm in just a fine spot, and obviously, we just worry about the muscle."

Mike Krukow announced that he plans to retire from the broadcast booth at the end of the San Francisco Giants' season.
It's the end of an era for San Francisco baseball, as Krukow has been with the team's booth since 1990 and a full-time broadcaster with the team since 1994. The decision comes due to health issues stemming from inclusion body myositis, a degenerative muscle disease he publicly disclosed in 2014.
Leaving any job can be tough to process, but Krukow shared on Monday that the most difficult part of his decision was telling it to his partner in the broadcast booth, Duane Kuiper.
"Horrible. It's the worst thing I've ever had to do — is walk away from him. In my life," Krukow told KNBR of what it was like to break the news to Kuiper. "He looked at me, and he goes, 'No, you're not.' He was quiet. Then we walked out of the lunchroom together. He put his arm on my shoulders, and we just quietly walked back to the booth. Went back and did our job."
Krukow played 14 seasons as a starting pitcher in the majors, spending time with the Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Phillies before settling in with the Giants for the final seven years of his career. He and Kuiper first met as teammates in San Francisco and found a partnership that lasted a lifetime in their post-playing careers. Kuiper plans to continue in the booth for the Giants after Krukow's departure.

The San Francisco Giants added another name to the list of injuries that derailed their season.
Giants third baseman Matt Chapman will likely miss the remainder of the season with an abdominal strain that he suffered in the sixth inning of an 8-2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks on June 30.
Chapman saw a specialist Monday, Aug. 10 in Philadelphia, who confirmed the core muscle injury, the team announced. MILWAUKEE (AP) — Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Joey Ortiz and shortstop Cooper Pratt are dealing with injuries that have left the NL Central leaders short of depth on the left side of their infield.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said before Sunday's game with the Minnesota Twins that both players were day to day as Ortiz deals with issues to the scapular muscles in the upper part of his back and Pratt undergoes an MRI on his hamstring.
Ortiz aggravated his scapular injury while swinging the bat in the second inning Saturday, causing him to exit a 4-3 victory two innings later. Murphy said Pratt indicated his hamstring issue also cropped up on Saturday.
The shortage of available players on the left side of the Brewers' infield caused Andrew Vaughn to start at third base Sunday for just the second time in his career, and the first since 2021. Vaughn, who typically plays first base, appeared in six games at third base this year in a reserve role.
"He's a baseball player, he's done it before and we're in an emergency situation," Murphy said.

Chapman, 33, will see specialist Dr. William Meyers in Philadelphia on Sunday, the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser reported. The 10-year veteran will then likely have surgery on Tuesday.

Following three straight days of full pads, the Denver Broncos had a lighter practice on Thursday, Day 6 of training camp. Among the players working on a side field was wide receiver Courtland Sutton, who was given veteran rest days on Tuesday and Wednesday. Denver coach Sean Payton was asked about Sutton's status following Thursday's session.
"Rest," Payton said. "He got some walk-through. Tomorrow, he'll be back. Just our protocol." Sutton also spoke after practice and confirmed that he's healthy. The team wants to keep him fresh for a long season that they want to last into February.
Sutton, who will turn 31 in October, has drawn 259 targets through quarterback Bo Nix's first two seasons in the NFL. Sutton hasn't had that level of workload since drawing 208 targets through his first two seasons (2018-2019).
Here are five other quick takeaways from Thursday's session.
1. Broncos injury report: Denver WR Jaylen Waddle (muscle tightness), OLB Nik Bonitto (undisclosed), C Luke Wattenberg (undisclosed), CB Jaden Robinson (undisclosed) and OLB Dasan McCullough (undisclosed) all worked on a side field for recovering players. Meanwhile, tight endCaleb Lohner (knee) remains sidelined. Lohner's chances of making the 53-man roster are probably decreasing with every practice he misses.

Lenni Hameenaho had quite the season for his first campaign in North America in 2025-26. Starting the season in the AHL with the Utica Comets, Hameenaho initially got off to a slow start with no points in his first nine games. He would come on strong after an that initial adjustment period to post 22 points in his next 25 games, earning himself a spot in the NHL for much of the remainder of the Devils' season. His 33 NHL appearances would see him post just eight points (two goals and six ***** ists) while mostly being used in the Bottom Six. The Devils would send Lenni back down for the final push for the Comets to make the postseason; while they came up just short, Hameenaho contibuted four points in those three games.
2025-26 was a good start for a 21 year old rookie; while you might be disappointed in his NHL point totals, keep in mind his deployment, He was typically playing on the fourth line with little to no time on special teams. He wasn't consistently put with teammates who could help him generate offense. He did make a number of mistakes as young players often do, but by the end of the season I would argue Hameenaho was a more complete player in game 33 in New Jersey than he was in game one. This upcoming season will be a good opportunity for him to take another step forward. The only question has to be where in the organization will that be?
For 2026-27, the Devils have added to their forward depth, so much so that if Hameenaho were to be on the NHL roster alongside everyone else listed on PuckPedia, he would be one of 14 forwards. While the Devils carried 14 forwards for a portion of last season, I don't think the argument could be made that all of them belonged at the NHL level. This season, while you could argue their role and deployment, each of the other 13 forwards is at least an NHL player. The Devils are trying to ensure future success, but also want to win now; if there's players better than Lenni, that means 12 other Devils will be on the ice nightly, and at the same time you don't want one of your better prospects sitting in the press box on a nightly or almost nightly basis. So is Hameenaho destined for a full season with Utica?
I think a lot of it is going to depend on how much he's learned from last season and what he has done this summer. If Lenni spent the offseason looking over game footage, furthering his understanding of Sheldon Keefe's system, adding muscle to his frame and continuing to improve his skills, then there's a chance he could leap over a number of the lower tier Devils forwards and work his way onto the opening night roster. If that were the case, then the Devils would probably have to send a goaltender or fringe forward down, but hey, would the Devils really be that much worse without one of Nico Daws/David Rittich or Jesper Boqvist/Nick Bjugstad?
Conversely, Hameenaho is still a very young player, as he will just be turning 22 shortly into the upcoming season. It wouldn't be a bad thing if the Devi

Jets rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq remains out of practice after core muscle surgery in May, but he's getting closer to a return.
Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said today that he's optimistic about Sadiq, who should be on the practice field in a couple weeks and ready to go well before Week One.
"We actually got pretty good news the other day," Glenn said. "I'm just crossing my fingers, I'm going to say it's a couple weeks still, but it's not anything that's going to keep him out of the regular season."
The 16th overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft, Sadiq played through the injury during his final season at Oregon last year and had the surgery in May. Glenn indicated that once he's fully healed, Sadiq won't need another surgery and the injury will be a non-issue for him going forward.

A Cincinnati native who was once told he would likely never become an athlete will arrive at Cedarville University next week as a member of the cross country and track teams.
Will Sten, who was diagnosed with low muscle tone as an infant, overcame multiple physical challenges to join the university's athletic program.
Sten is one of more than 1,000 new students expected to arrive at the university for Getting Started Weekend, which runs from Aug. 14-16.
The university is projected to set another enrollment record, continuing a growth streak that began in 2009. The weekend will include residence hall move-ins, academic workshops and worship sessions for students and parents.

The Pirates placed right-handed starter Mitch Keller on the 60-day injured list with a right arm teres major muscle injury, ending his season.
It's been a difficult year for Keller, who took the loss on Sunday against the Reds after allowing seven runs in two innings. Keller made 22 starts and went 6-8 with a 5.29 ERA, his highest mark since he pitched to a 6.17 ERA in 2021. The right-hander's 6.9 strikeouts per nine innings this season are the lowest of his career excluding the shortended-2020 season.
Things started off well for Keller this season. The 30-year-old was 4-1 with a 2.87 ERA in his first eight starts through May 7. But over his last 14 starts, Keller went 2-7 with a 6.95 ERA.
Keller is under contract with the Pirates for two more seasons. He will make just under $18.5 million in 2027 and will make just shy of $20.5 million in 2028.
