Sandra Bullock revealed two conscious decisions that shaped her film career. While promoting Practical Magic 2 and speaking with Jennifer Aniston, Bullock revealed what gave her the courage to reject 'perverts' at auditions.
When Aniston asked the Gravity star about decisions that shaped her career, one thing that Bullock mentioned in Interview magazine was, "I was auditioning for every pervert that existed asking me to drop my pants. I was like, 'Nope, not the role for me.' I was working my way up. Every working actor thinks you will never work again, so you just take what you can get and make the most of it."
The 62-year-old's other decision was to step away from rom-coms altogether, after the genre began weighing on how she was perceived as an actress. She stated that she wanted to explore other avenues as an actor: "The only time I was intentional about my career was when I said, 'I need to stop right now with the rom-coms,' because I was getting so much ******* for them. And I took a role in this film called 'Crash'… I wanted to start flexing other muscles."
The Practical Magic star has delivered some of the most iconic rom-coms of the 2000s, such as The Proposal, Two Weeks Notice, and Miss Congeniality. It was in 2002 that the actress decided to branch out to other types of roles, returning in a dramatic capacity with the film Crash. However, she didn't step away from rom-coms completely. The frequency decreased, however.

Comstock Resources, Inc. (NYSE:CRK) signed a nonbinding letter of intent under which SOCAR would pay $1.65 billion in cash, subject to customary adjustments. SOCAR would acquire non-operated working interests representing 20% of the Legacy Haynesville and 15% of the Western Haynesville upstream interests held by Comstock Resources, Inc. (NYSE:CRK). SOCAR would also acquire 15% of the 73% ownership interest held by Comstock Resources, Inc. (NYSE:CRK) in Pinnacle Gas Services.
The letter of intent requires good-faith negotiations but does not obligate completion. The parties are targeting a definitive agreement by October 31, 2026, and closing by year-end, subject to negotiations, approvals, and customary conditions.
Separately, a Jerry Jones family partnership will fund 85% of the drilling and completion costs for 18 Western Haynesville wells and 80% for nine Legacy Haynesville wells. The total 27-well program is expected to cost approximately $450 million over 12 months. After a 15% return on investment, 50% of the interest covered by the venture will revert to Comstock Resources, Inc. (NYSE:CRK).
If the SOCAR transaction closes, Comstock Resources, Inc. (NYSE:CRK) estimates that the proceeds would reduce company-defined non-GAAP net debt from $3.1 billion to $1.5 billion as of June 30, 2026. Net debt is calculated as total debt less cash and cash equivalents. The approximately $1.6 billion reduction would nearly halve the measure and could improve financial flexibility.
The drilling venture allows development to continue without equivalent near-term cash funding. Following completion of the SOCAR transaction, Comstock Resources, Inc. (NYSE:CRK) would retain operatorship of the upstream ****** ets and control of Pinnacle Gas Services. Drilling should provide volumes to Pinnacle and help delineate the 545,000 net acres in the Western Haynesville.

Linda Purl did not spend her 71st birthday surrounded by a red carpet, cameras or an elaborate Hollywood party. She picked up a cake, went hiking and handled a few errands around Los Angeles.
The Happy Days actress was photographed on Sept. 2 wearing a red baseball cap, long-sleeve blue top and black pants while stopping at a Gelson's market for her birthday cake, according to Page Six.
Purl also went on a solo hike before friends later joined her at home for a small celebration. The low-key outing offered a rare candid look at an actress whose television career stretches from one of the defining sitcoms of the 1970s to roles on Matlock, The Office, Homeland and Hacks.
Purl is still acting, touring as a jazz vocalist and recording music, and she is preparing to return Off-Broadway later this month while continuing the life and business she has built with fellow television veteran Patrick Duffy.
The photographs show a birthday that looked deliberately ordinary. Purl collected her cake at Gelson's, completed other errands and spent part of the day hiking alone before friends came to her home later for a small celebration.

SYDNEY, Aug 14 (Reuters) - Leaders from some of Australia's biggest companies, including major banks Macquarie Group and Westpac, will face questioning from lawmakers on Friday as part of ‌a probe into accounting firm KPMG's alleged misuse of client data to win audit ‌contracts.
Macquarie's chairman and chief financial officer, and Westpac's audit committee chair have been summoned before the committee, which will also hear from telecoms provider Optus' CEO and the chair of property firm Dexus.
The day-long parliamentary hearing is the second to be called since whistleblower accusations that KPMG's staff used inside information to win lucrative audit contracts came to light in March.
Macquarie, Westpac, Optus and Dexus are all companies caught up in the ‌alleged misconduct by KPMG's senior audit partners.
While KPMG initially said the allegations were unsubstantiated, the scandal has since led to the resignations of the firm's CEO, audit boss and chairman.

In a town where fame can be fleeting, several once-prominent actors have quietly slipped from the headlines, leaving fans to wonder where they went. Many grew up watching these faces in blockbuster films, hit sitcoms and cult classics, but for various reasons, faded from top billing. From leading men and women to versatile character actors, join us as we revisit their storied careers and see where the journey led them next.
A charismatic leading man of both cult hits and major films, Christian Slater defined a generation with edgy performances in movies like Heathers and True Romance. Though he won critical acclaim for later TV endeavors, his early fame soon gave way to a lower profile as projects fluctuated between hits and misses.
Slater took home the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in a TV Series for his work on USA Network's breakout drama Mr. Robot at the 2016 Golden Globes. Slater still acts today, mostly in voice work and select TV roles, but the buzz that once surrounded him has dimmed from his peak years.
Sarah Michelle Gellar became an icon for supernatural drama fans. She achieved international recognition for her portrayal of Buffy Summers on the WB/UPN supernatural series Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997–2003), which earned her a Saturn Award and a Golden Globe nomination.
After numerous prominent film and TV roles, her screen presence has lessened as she has focused on voice acting, business ventures and family. Gellar maintains a loyal following, but her days as a teen idol and horror queen seem like a distant memory in Hollywood's fast-moving spotlight.

COMSTOCK PARK – Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal was pleased with his rehab start for the West Michigan Whitecaps on Sunday, June 7, throwing five scoreless innings while touching 99 mph.
But Skubal danced around the question of when he might pitch next, either for the Tigers or on another rehab start.
"That's a good question that I'm not going to answer," he said at LMCU Ballpark. "There's a plan in place. I need to wake up and feel good tomorrow, and have a good week of work. Then we'll make that decision. But it doesn't really do me any good to tell you guys what I'm pitching next. I need to make sure that I bounce back from this one really well."
Skubal threw 54 pitches, 44 of them strikes. As a two-time American League Cy Young Award winner, Skubal had no problem dominating the Dayton Dragons – the High-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds – and creating some weak swings. He recorded six strikeouts and no walks while giving up two hits.
