Auxier ******* et Management, an investment advisory firm, released its second-quarter 2026 investor letter. The letter can be downloaded here. Following a strong rebound from the first-quarter decline, the S&P 500 gained 15.2% as accelerating capital spending toward artificial intelligence infrastructure drove significant gains across technology hardware companies. Semiconductor and data-center-related businesses benefited from supply constraints and strong demand, while enterprise software remained under pressure as investors reassessed AI disruption risks and compressed valuations. In the quarter, Auxier Focus Fund's Investor Class gained 8.82% and 10.70% for the six months ended June 30, 2026. Despite strong earnings growth across the broader market, Auxier highlighted concerns around rising margin debt, increased leverage, and elevated capital flows into high-growth technology areas that could amplify future volatility. The firm continues to focus on identifying enduring businesses with strong competitive advantages, resilient cash flows, and sustainable long-term growth potential. Also, check the fund's top five holdings to see its best picks in 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Auxier ******* et Management highlighted Gates Industrial Corporation Ltd. (NYSE:GTES). Gates Industrial Corporation Ltd. (NYSE:GTES) has a market capitalization of $6.44 billion, and its stock has traded within a 52-week range of $20.88 and $30.34.
Auxier ******* et Management stated the following regarding Gates Industrial Corporation Ltd. (NYSE:GTES) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Industrials were the strongest performing sector during the quarter. Tech-facing industrial players benefited from a shift in investor focus toward AI buildout rather than the development of AI models. Caterpillar and Gates Industrial Corporation Ltd. (NYSE:GTES) Ltd. (NYSE:GTES) also benefited indirectly from the expansion of AI infrastructure, particularly through increased demand for energy generation and cooling capacity in data centers."

NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) is investing $3.5 billion in Taiwan-based MediaTek through convertible bonds, taking an existing AI partnership a step further. The two companies plan to work together on local AI computing and AI-powered vehicle platforms, while also bringing Nvidia's accelerated-computing technology into more markets.
The investment comes soon after Nvidia reported another strong quarter and projected roughly 70% revenue growth for fiscal 2028. That outlook suggests management still expects AI demand to grow rather than reach a peak. For NVDA investors, the key question is whether the MediaTek deal will create new demand for Nvidia's technology or is mainly another case of the company using its balance sheet to support the wider AI ecosystem.
The clearest positive is that the MediaTek partnership could expand NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA)'s addressable market beyond traditional data centers. MediaTek has a strong presence in smartphones, consumer electronics, connectivity and automotive chips. Pairing that reach with Nvidia's accelerated-computing technology could help Nvidia bring AI computing to edge devices, PCs and vehicles. The companies also launched the RTX Spark PC chip in June, showing that the relationship goes beyond a financial investment.
The automotive opportunity could be especially important. Nvidia is trying to make its technology a broader computing platform rather than remain mainly a supplier of data-center GPUs. Working with a major chip designer such as MediaTek could give Nvidia another path into AI-powered vehicles and other edge applications.
Investing through convertible bonds also gives Nvidia a strategic benefit. The company is not simply providing MediaTek with capital. It is building a closer financial relationship while potentially gaining equity exposure. If MediaTek's business grows as a result of the partnership, Nvidia could benefit financially while also seeing greater demand for its own technology.

Mortgage held steady near 6.7% again this week as oil prices fluctuated and new data showed inflation remained elevated in July.
The average 30-year mortgage rate was 6.66% through Wednesday, according to Freddie Mac data, essentially unchanged from 6.65% a week earlier.
Mortgage rates have been hovering around 6.7% for a month straight amid ongoing investor fears about the Iran War's effect on oil prices and broader inflation. On Wednesday, the Federal Reserve's preferred inflation metric showed that inflation remained sticky in July, with prices excluding the volatile food and energy categories up 3.3% from a year ago.
"Mortgage rates have climbed for much of the year, driven largely by the Iran conflict's effect on oil prices, which has kept inflation expectations, and by extension mortgage rates, elevated," Realtor.com senior economist Hannah Jones said in a statement.

Management is betting on a bigger year than ever, but investors seem to be waiting for a catch.
When a company with a $1.12 trillion market cap tells you it expects to pull in an extra few billion dollars, you listen. On Aug 5, 2026, the company did just that, significantly raising its full-year 2026 revenue guidance. And the market's reaction? A polite nod. The stock gained +4.9% on earnings day and has added another +7.5% since, with the market steadily validating management's raised outlook rather than pushing back on it.
The guidance update came with key moving parts: management raised full-year 2026 revenue guidance by 3% and lifted its performance margin target by 2 full percentage points, even while modestly trimming its full-year EPS guidance. This comes on the heels of a quarter where revenue grew 48% year-over-year, driven by the blockbuster performance of its incretin drugs Mounjaro and Zepbound. The company is signaling that its commercial engine, already running at full throttle, has found another gear. For a company of this scale, adding billions to the top-line forecast is a significant statement of confidence.
Perhaps the market's hesitation is understandable. After a stock has climbed 79% in a single year, it's fair to ask how much good news is already baked into the price. Investors are now looking past the headline numbers for cracks in the story. Some ******* ysts have pointed to the launch of the oral drug Foundayo as being "slower than anticipated," while others noted that the company's own guidance implies a potential deceleration in growth in the back half of the year. When you're priced for perfection, any hint of a slowdown gets magnified.
The market is actively debating what level of future growth is truly baked into Lilly's multiple—a question explored in our recent breakdown of what the stock's valuation actually implies. It's the classic standoff: the company delivered the numbers, but the market is questioning if it can keep delivering at the same pace.

New reports indicate that artificial intelligence (AI) lab Anthropic could file its S-1 by the end of the month. Below, I'll detail why Anthropic's public debut carries outsize implications for major backers like Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN), whose growth is intertwined with the start-up's trajectory.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
Reports from Bloomberg suggest Anthropic is aiming for an initial public offering (IPO) that matches or exceeds ****** e Exploration Technologies' record raise from earlier this summer. Anthropic has already raised roughly $133 billion to date, most recently in a $65 billion Series H round that valued it at $965 billion. This near-trillion-dollar figure reflects Anthropic's explosive growth, with recent quarterly revenue surpassing $11.5 billion and an annualized run rate approaching $65 billion.
Amazon investors have good reason to monitor the Anthropic offering. Amazon has already invested $13 billion in Anthropic, with commitments for up to an additional $20 billion contingent on commercial milestones.
Beyond simple equity ownership, the partnership between Amazon and Anthropic runs deep through AWS. Anthropic uses Amazon's custom silicon for training and inference, including a massive deployment under Project Rainier that utilizes over 1 million Amazon Trainium chips, complemented by its Graviton processors.

Costco Wholesale Corporation (NASDAQ:COST) is one of Jim Cramer's favorite stocks. The shares are down by 1% over the past year and are up by 12% year-to-date. As he has done with Apple and NVIDIA, Cramer has continued to stick with Costco Wholesale Corporation (NASDAQ:COST) through thick and thin. The CNBC TV host believes that the firm's scale and negotiating power enable it to provide Americans with the lowest prices. As Costco Wholesale Corporation (NASDAQ:COST) reported its July sales data on August 5th, Cramer discussed the firm a day later in his morning appearance:
"But what I want to see today, to see if it's strong or not, is Costco. Cause Costco had very, very good numbers, okay. And I think that should be a good example if, yes that's getting rewarded. There's an example where you had a number that wasn't [inaudible] better than expected that also said good things. A lot of times it was better than expected but we didn't get the good things. We didn't get the forecast ****** p. So if you have a quarter, you reported the quarter, and you gave us a forecast, it's like Pinterest. Pinterest forecast was not as strong as we'd like but the quarter was terrific. A lot of people raised the price tag, but Pinterest went down. And that's been the template, if you don't raise your forecast as much as people were hoping, your stock does not do that well."
Costco Wholesale Corporation (NASDAQ:COST)'s scale and market share allow it to run a major membership program, which is one of its strongest points. Membership renewal rates signal customer loyalty, and as of its fiscal third quarter, Costco Wholesale Corporation (NASDAQ:COST) reported US and Canadian renewal rates of 92.2%. Through its fees, the retailer is also able to offer its customers lower prices than most and create a feedback loop of renewal rates and customer satisfaction. Yet, at the same time, Costco Wholesale Corporation (NASDAQ:COST)'s strengths also create weaknesses. The firm's forward P/E of 42 is higher than Walmart's 38 and significantly higher than Target's 18.6.
As for Pinterest, Inc. (NYSE:PINS), the visual search engine platform's shares closed 8.7% lower on August 5th after the firm had reported its second quarter earnings on the day before. Cramer used the results to point to the impact of forward guidance on a company's shares. While Pinterest, Inc. (NYSE:PINS)'s revenue and EPS of $1.18 billion and $0.43 beat ****** yst estimates of $1.15 billion and $0.36, the firm's midline guidance of $1.20 billion met ****** yst estimates. As is the case with other marketplace companies, such as Booking Holdings, the debate for Pinterest, Inc. (NYSE:PINS) also concerns whether the firm will be able to generate long-term value through its AI initiatives. At the same time, the impact of these initiatives on margins and the business's reliance on cyclical retailers are additional worry points.

Mortgage rates rose again this week — hitting their highest level in over a year — as the government bond yields they closely track stayed elevated.
The average 30-year fixed-rate mortgage was 6.69% through Wednesday, according to Freddie Mac data, up from 6.66% a week earlier to the highest level since the end of July 2025.
Government bond yields, which mortgage rates closely track, rose rapidly in late July as investors began to fret about the Federal Reserve's commitment to fighting inflation. Lower oil prices have helped push yields slightly lower in recent days, but mortgage rates haven't fully followed.
"There is some tentative good news: preliminary reports show some progress on geopolitical fronts, which has tempered the rise in daily mortgage rates," Kara Ng, senior economist at Zillow, said in a statement. "Still, the backdrop remains complicated."

A housing market crash happens when home values plummet due to a lack of demand for or an oversupply of homes. The factors leading to a housing market crash are varied, ranging from economic recessions to high mortgage rates that make it less affordable to buy a home. A housing crash can have upsides (low home prices) and downsides (losing built-up equity and tighter finances).

So, what's ahead for the housing market in 2026?
➡ Read more: Want to buy a house in 2026? Here's what you need to know.
Generally, experts don't foresee a housing market crash in 2026. If anything, they see a greater sense of normalcy following multiple years of twists and turns.
"We're not heading toward a housing crash; we're in a market correction defined by stability, not volatility," Hoby Hanna, CEO of Howard Hanna Real Estate Services, said via email. "Today's housing environment is fundamentally different from 2008. Homeowners have record levels of equity, lending standards are sound, and inventory remains constrained. What we're seeing now is a normalization, not a collapse, as the market adjusts to new economic realities. For buyers and sellers, this is a market filled with opportunity and resilience, not instability or uncertainty."

Bristol Gate Capital Partners, an investment management company, published its Q2 2026 investor letter for the "US Equity Strategy". A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. The Strategy lagged the S&P 500 Total Return Index in the quarter in terms of returns, but outperformed in dividend growth. Despite debate over capital cycle returns, AI remained the dominant market theme, expanding from early adoption to broader enterprise adoption. The firm continues to focus on high-dividend-growth companies while maintaining discipline around valuation and earnings durability. In addition, please check the Fund's top five holdings to know its best picks in 2026.
In its Q2 2026 investor letter, Bristol US Equity Strategy highlighted Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU). Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU) is a financial software company offering products and services for financial management, payments, capital, compliance, and marketing. Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU) is facing AI disruption concerns in a rapidly changing software land scape. On July 22, 2026, Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU) closed at $284.47 per share. One-month return of Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU) was 11.53%, and its shares lost 63.59% over the past 52 weeks. Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU) has a market capitalization of $77.81 billion.
Bristol US Equity Strategy stated the following regarding Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU) in its Q2 2026 investor update:
"Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU) was the largest detractor with the share price down significantly after its quarterly report disappointed investors. We liquidated our stakes in Accenture and Intuit due to overlapping thematic headwinds. Both companies face intensifying market scrutiny regarding the potential for generative AI to disrupt their core business models. Accenture's labour-intensive consulting framework and Intuit's legacy software franchise. Because these structural debates will take considerable time to resolve, the near-term visibility on earnings durability has diminished. More critically, our forward-looking model signaled a material deterioration in their projected dividend-growth trajectories. Consequently, we redeployed this capital into higher-conviction opportunities with what we believe are superior risk adjusted return profiles."
Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU) is not on our list of 40 Most Popular Stocks Among Hedge Funds Heading Into 2026. According to our database, 92 hedge fund portfolios held Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU) at the end of the first quarter, compared to 91 in the previous quarter. In the third quarter of fiscal 2026, Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU) reported revenue of $8.6 billion, reflecting a 10% year-over-year growth. While we acknowledge the potential of Intuit Inc. NIKE, Inc. (NYSE:NKE) is one of the dividend stocks picked by financial media as investors ask whether dividend stocks are tax-efficient. On June 30, Nike reported fiscal 2026 fourth-quarter and full-year results and said it returned about $609 million to shareholders through dividends in the fourth quarter, up 3% from the prior year. For fiscal 2026, shareholder returns totaled about $2.5 billion, including $2.4 billion in dividends and $123 million in share repurchases.
That shareholder-return disclosure keeps the focus on capital allocation rather than product momentum. Nike's regular dividend is the kind of corporate payout that may qualify for lower tax rates when investor-level rules are satisfied. The modest buyback component also shows why dividend tax efficiency is relative. Repurchases can return capital in a way that does not force every shareholder to recognize cash income immediately, while dividends do. Nike's latest results still leave the income case tied to business recovery, margin repair, and capital allocation discipline rather than tax treatment alone.

Their recent post on Reddit's r/Money quickly attracted attention, with many commenters noticing that the account balance was larger than what many Americans have saved or invested despite having lived in the country their entire lives.

With a transition from Wells Fargo to Cardless and Column N.A. Bank, Bilt has introduced its Bilt Card 2.0 setup, featuring three new Bilt credit cards: the Bilt Blue Card (see rates & fees), Bilt Obsidian Card (see rates & fees), and Bilt Palladium Card (see rates & fees).
The annual fees range from $0 to $495 (see rates & fees), and all three cards offer ways to make rent and mortgage payments without transaction fees. However, the process is more confusing than it was on the Bilt Card 1.0, as you now have to spend on the new Bilt Cards to earn points on rent and mortgage payments.
At first glance, it seems more complicated than it's worth, especially if you were a Bilt Card 1.0 user. In many cases, a separate travel credit card or cash-back credit card setup seems like the better strategy for earning rewards, even if you can't take advantage of rent or mortgage payments. Still, there may be certain situations where the new Bilt 2.0 credit cards make sense.
While Bilt previously partnered with Wells Fargo, its new card servicer is Cardless, with cards issued by Column N.A. Bank.
