For the second Serie A game in a row, Inter came back from 2-0 down to win, this time crushing Udinese 5-3 in a chaotic encounter at San Siro.
The Nerazzurri had a perfect start in Serie A thanks to a comeback from 2-0 down to beat Napoli 3-2, but lost their Champions League opener 2-1 to Real Madrid this week following some costly individual errors.
Cristian Chivu rotated, giving John Stones his first start, but resting Lautaro Martinez, Yann Bisseck and Hakan Calhanoglu, along with not fully fit Federico Dimarco and injured Djed Spence. The Friulani had an injury crisis, missing Oumar Solet, Nicolò Zaniolo, Juan Arizala, Matteo Palma and Jakub Piotrowski, the Poland international undergoing surgery today to correct a benign cardiac arrhythmia.
See how it all unfolded on the Liveblog.

DUBAI, Sept 14 (Reuters) - Abu Dhabi's Etihad Airways said on Monday that its ‌passenger-carrying capacity is running above year-earlier ‌levels as Gulf carriers rebound from disruption caused by the Iran war, with strong demand expected heading into the winter travel season, its chief executive told Reuters.
"We are back on ‌track," CEO Antonoaldo Neves said in an interview, noting that current Available Seat Kilometres - the industry's standard measure of passenger-carrying capacity - was currently 15 to 17% higher than a year ago.
"Flights are full, full, full," he said, ‌adding that load factor, which measures how well an airline is filling available seats, was at 92% in August while the airline is targeting an 87% plus load factor ‌for the remainder of the year.
The Iran war affected travel earlier this year, pushing fuel prices ‌higher and disrupting flights in the Middle East and beyond. Middle Eastern carriers, some of the world's biggest, have seen their networks upended ‌by the conflict, but have gradually resumed their activity.

Federico Dimarco is closing in on a return to Inter's matchday squad for Monday's clash with Udinese at San Siro, with Cristian Chivu weighing several further changes to his starting XI following the Champions League trip to Real Madrid.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the Nerazzurri boss is treating the fixture as more than a simple fatigue-management exercise. The report frames it as evidence of a genuine rotation policy, made possible by the depth Inter built during the summer transfer window.
Dimarco has been managing a knee sprain picked up in recent days, and while the issue kept him sidelined, he has now completed part of the latest training session alongside his teammates before continuing with individual work. His call-up against Udinese appears probable, though Chivu still must decide whether to throw him straight back into the action or ease him in gradually, as detailed in SempreInter's recent coverage of Dimarco's situation.
Djed Spence remains further off the pace. The wing-back continues his individual work on the pitch but is edging closer to a full return to group training.
John Stones could be handed his first start of the season after a string of promising cameos, including his second-half introduction in Madrid. A Stones start would mark the fourth different defensive trio Chivu has fielded in five matches this season.

Former Inter defender Marco Materazzi feels José Mourinho wouldn't have subbed Rasmus Hojlund off, as Massimiliano Allegri did against Inter last weekend, but Federico Dimarco's absence will be 'significant' at the Bernabéu tonight.
Inter and Mourinho reunite at the Bernabéu tonight in the opening round of the 2026-27 Champions League, at the same venue where the Special One lifted the Champions League as the Nerazzurri coach in 2010.
Materazzi built a strong bond with Mourinho during the Portuguese's two-year spell at San Siro and recently met the Special One in Italy: "José took a plane specifically to record that footage, and he told me again: 'You and John Terry, the most important centre-backs of my career'," Materazzi told Gazzetta.
The former Italy defender, a 2006 Italy World Cup winner, is certainly not surprised that Real Madrid hired Mou last summer.
"No, because I know the relationship he has with Florentino, how much he trusts José," he said.

Juventus had won their first two games of the season, but it would be entirely fair to say that they had come close to leaving those matches ruing missed opportunities. Each of them could've been put away long time before they were, and indeed one of the major talking points headed into Sunday's matchup against AC Milan was the fact that the Bianconeri had gotten the results without reaching the level of performance they desired. Milan were in the same boat, winning two straight under new manager Ruben Amorim but not convincing in either. It felt as though the team that managed to perform better would be the likelier to come out of the Allianz on top.
It was ultimately Juve that had the better of a game that was equal parts chaotic and sloppy. But once again they failed to take advantage of their performances. They failed to make the most of the chances they made over the game's first 70 minutes before Milan scored on — stop me if you've heard this one before — their first shot on target of the match. It took until the second minute of stoppage time for Juve to finally even things out, when Federico Gatti powered home a Teun Koopmeiners cross from six yards to earn the Old Lady a 1-1 draw.
The problems for Juventus were the same as we've talked about all season so far. The finishing wasn't nearly good enough, the passing was disjointed and often inaccurate, and overall creativity seemed to be lacking. But in spite of all of that, they can honestly say that they were the better of the two sides and deserved victory — even more so when you consider the fact that Milan's goal really should've been disallowed for a foul in the buildup that was never flagged by VAR. Considering they were missing seven players due to injury, several of whom were extremely important, it's far too early to start abandoning hope of a successful year—provided they make the improvements that their play so far suggest is possible.
Luciano Spalletti was missing Kenan Yildiz, Weston McKennie, Khéphren Thuram, Andrea Cambiaso, Jeff Ekhator, Juan Cabal, and Pape Matar Sarr. His 4-2-3-1 formation gave several players their first starts of the year. Guglielmo Vicario started behind the back four of Pierre Kalulu, Bremer, Jhon Lucumí, and Zeki Celik. Manuel Locatelli and Douglas Luiz started in the middle of the park, while Francisco Conceição joined Nico González and Kerim Alajbegovic behind Randal Kolo Muani in attack.
Amorim missed Matteo Gabbia due to an ankle injury, but returned a few players to the starting lineup who had been eased back into things after long World Cup runs. Mike Maignan started in goal, ahead of a 3-4-2-1 setup that was a slight tweak to Amorim's usual 3-4-3. Former Juve prospect Koni De Winter joined Strahinja Pavolovic and Mario Gila in defense. Big-money signing Diego Moreira got his first start of the season opposite Pervis Estupiñán at the wing-back spots, while Luka Modric and Yunis Musah manned the double pivot. Adrien Rabiot joined Alexis Saele

Federico Gatti came off the bench and scored an injury-time equaliser as Juventus **** ed a 1-1 draw with AC Milan in Serie A on Sunday.
Both teams arrived at the Allianz Stadium after starting the season with back-to-back wins and remained unbeaten after a hard-fought affair.
The result leaves Roma and Inter Milan as the two teams with 100 percent records after three games, with Lazio attempting to join them when they face Udinese on Monday.
"We didn't deserve to win, and Juve didn't deserve to lose," Milan coach Ruben Amorim told DAZN.
"We lost possession too often and didn't play well, but we've only been working together for two months."

Ruben Amorim admits Milan 'didn't deserve to win, or more like Juventus didn't deserve to lose' after their 1-1 draw in Turin. 'We need to move more and be braver.'
The Rossoneri had struggled to create any genuine scoring opportunities in Turin and thanked first Mike Maignan, then the frame of the goal for keeping out Francisco Conceicao.

Substitute Alphadjo Cisse gave them the lead somewhat against the run of play with a well-taken angled drive through Pierre Kalulu's legs, but in stoppages Federico Gatti nodded in the Teun Koopmeiners cross for the late equaliser.
It means both Milan and Juventus lose their 100 per cent start to the Serie A season, dropping points in this head-to-head.

TORONTO (AP) — Derrick Etienne Jr. scored the tying goal in second-half stoppage time and Josh Sargent recorded his first career hat trick as Toronto FC rallied for a 4-4 draw against the Chicago Fire on Saturday night.
Toronto (5-7-11) allowed the first goal and came back to earn at least a draw for the eighth time this season.
Chicago (11-6-5) played to a draw for the third straight match.
Sargent scored his first goal on a strike from the center of the box in the 27th minute. Nine minutes later, Sargent sent a shot past Chicago goalkeeper Chris Brady for a 2-1 lead. Sargent broke a 2-all tie in the 54th for Toronto's first hat trick since Federico Bernardeschi did so against Montreal on May 18, 2024.
But a pair of defensive breakdowns led to Chicago reclaiming the lead.

The American charge faltered at the US Open after shock defeats for Taylor Fritz, Madison Keys and Amanda Anisimova.
Fritz, the ninth seed, looked to be cruising into the fourth round when he moved two sets ahead of Argentina's Federico Cerundolo.
The 28-year-old, runner-up two years ago, had not dropped a set all week and appeared to be on the verge of joining compatriots Ben Shelton, Frances Tiafoe, Tommy Paul and Alex Michelson in the last 16.
But Cerundolo, the surprise winner at Queen's Club earlier this summer, scrapped his way back into an error-heavy match and won 3-6 4-6 6-3 6-4 6-4.
The host nation is still looking for its first men's singles ****** le winner since 2003, when Andy Roddick beat Juan Carlos Ferrero in the final.

Liverpool have named their squad for the 2026/27 Champions League league phase, and there is no point dressing it up, two senior players have been left behind. Federico Chiesa and Wataru Endo are not in Andoni Iraola's List A squad, which means they are unavailable unless changes are made later.
That is the headline. It is also the message. Iraola has looked at his options and decided that, for this part of the campaign, neither player is essential.
Chiesa's omission stands out. He stayed at Anfield this summer despite more uncertainty over his future, hoping to rebuild momentum after a stop-start spell shaped by injuries. He has not featured in the Premier League yet this season because of a minor issue, and with Liverpool short of proven width on the right, there was a route back into the picture. This decision closes that route, at least in Europe.
Endo's situation is less surprising, but no less significant. He has been working back from a pre-season injury and has clearly lost ground. Liverpool have younger legs and, in Iraola's view, better fits for the way he wants the side to play. At 33, Endo now looks like a squad player whose role is shrinking fast.

Liverpool have confirmed their squad for the league phase of the Champions League, with Federico Chiesa and Wataru Endo among the notable absentees.
Both players have been left out of the 25-man group, in a decision that could raise further questions over their respective positions within the squad.

Chiesa has already missed Liverpool's opening two Premier League matches due to a muscle problem and will now have to watch the Champions League campaign from outside the squad.
The Italian's omission is particularly significant following the changes Liverpool have made to their attacking options during the summer.

Liverpool have left Federico Chiesa and Wataru Endo out of their 25-man squad for the league phase of the Champions League.
Italy forward Chiesa was also initially excluded in the competition last season under former boss Arne Slot, before being added to the list after defender Giovanni Leoni suffered a long-term knee injury in September.
Chiesa, 28, is currently out injured but expected to return to training during the international break later this month.
He has struggled for first-team football at Liverpool since joining from Juventus in August 2024.
Japan midfielder Endo, 33, has been an unused substitute for manager Andoni Iraola's side in their two league games so far this season, but he misses out too, with 21-year-old James McConnell making the cut.

Real Madrid have made an encouraging start under Jose Mourinho, but there are already two squad-management questions that could test the Portuguese coach as the season develops.
Los Blancos have won three on the bounce to kick-start their La Liga campaign, and their latest 4-0 victory against Malaga offered a lot of promise.
The Portuguese tactician has set his team up to play some exciting, counter-attacking football, and the forward line in particular has thrived.
Now, according to Alvaro Romero of El Larguero, there are two early concerns emerging for Mourinho's reign.
One concerns the size of Mourinho's squad, while the other centres on Aurelien Tchouameni and where the midfielder fits following Federico Valverde's impressive start to the campaign.

SCARDOVARI, Italy (AP) — Italian fishermen for two years incinerated most of the invasive Atlantic blue crabs caught in the Po River Delta south of Venice. Few Italians had an appetite for the alien predator blamed for decimating their prized Manila clams.
While experiments in containment continue, including the release of tens of thousands of octopus predators, the industry's response has been shifting to find new markets for the crustaceans. The strategy is already salvaging the livelihood of some fishermen and, some hope, may even rehabilitate the much-maligned crab's image in Italy.
Like other members of his local cooperative, second-generation fisherman Federico Zago saw his income crash after the crab invasion. The Polesine Fishermen's Cooperative Consortium's revenues fell 75% to 15 million euros ($17 million) in 2024 and 2025; the cooperative's active members also shrank from 1,500 to 850.
"We needed to change strategy, and create an opportunity from this disaster," said Paolo Mancin, the cooperative's president.
Desperate, they pivoted to exporting the unwanted crabs, with the aim of preserving the Manila clams — invasive themselves — and mussels that created decades of prosperity in the shallow lagoons of Veneto and Emilia Romagna.

For most Liverpool fans, the club's business in the 2026 transfer window likely represents something of a mixed bag. In the end the Reds got their big money move for Bradley Barcola across the line, and the 24year-old French international left winger certainly ticks a lot of boxes on the need front.
His ability to progress the ball and create high qaulity goal scoring opportunities is elite, and the rapid winger's underlying numbers were better than the goal or ******* ist every 148 minutes he had last season—and his numbers hold up in the Champions League and with France at the international level.
Squad balance issues aside and leaving out the fact Mohamed Salah played on the right, Liverpool spent £125M to sign their so-called Salah replacement and it's hard to see an obvious better option they could have or should have moved for. Yet it's hard to completely set aside those squad balance issues.
Liverpool head into the season with four wingers in Barcola, Cody Gakpo, Rio Ngumoha, and Victor Muñoz all more comfortable on the left. They have no players of that calibre naturally comfortable on the right. No players. Zero. Unless we think this is the year Federico Chiesa comes good. And stays fit.
In defence, the opportunistic signing of centre half Ronald Araujo was heartening, but a deadline day push for Chelsea's Malo Gusto on loan highlighted that the club are desperately thin at fullback, the options they have aren't entirely convincing, and the club knew it—and then failed to fix things.

Liverpool are in the process of remodelling their frontline.
The departure of Mohamed Salah on a free transfer opened up a gap on the right side of the attack. Richard Hughes has already tied up the signings of wingers Victor Munoz and Bradley Barcola.
There are also plans afoot to sell Cody Gakpo and we can expect Harvey Elliott and Federico Chiesa to also take their leave.
Liverpool will also be hoping to sign another wide forward before Tuesday's deadline.
Ismaila Sarr and Yankuba Minteh are the names in the frame - with Palace valuing Sarr at around £70m and Brighton seeking in excess of that figure for their 22-year-old Gambian forward.

Real Madrid has already finalized its squad list for tomorrow's match against Málaga CF at the Bernabéu. Los Blancos will be looking to claim three more points in front of their fans in a key league fixture to keep pace at the top of the table.
For this match, coach José Mourinho has decided not to make any changes from the previous outing. The Portuguese manager is backing the same core group that featured in the last matchday against Real Sociedad.
In goal, Thibaut Courtois leads the list of goalkeepers, alongside Andriy Lunin and the young Javi Navarro, perhaps the only switch in the squad. In defense, there is once again a strong list of defenders, featuring names such as Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konaté, Antonio Rüdiger and Marc Cucurella.
Meanwhile, midfield will retain its usual blend of strength and creativity with players of the caliber of Jude Bellingham, Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga and Bernardo Silva. They are joined by Arda Güler, Cestero and Alexis Ciria, offering further options to Madrid's setup.
In attack, firepower is guaranteed with the presence of Vinicius Jr. and Kylian Mbappé leading the line. The attacking call-up is completed by Brahim Díaz, C. Espí and Yan Diomande, all ready to provide energy from the bench.

Real Madrid have been without Aurelien Tchouameni since the start of the season, with the French midfielder struggling with a physical issue.
Tchouameni has been carrying a problem ever since the World Cup with France, where he was often rotated out to manage his minutes.
In his absence, Mourinho has been forced to rely on Federico Valverde and Bernardo Silva as his holding midfield partnership.
Now, according to Bernabeu Digital, Los Blancos are refusing to take any unnecessary risks with Tchouameni despite the player being eager to return to action.
Jose has established a clear recovery plan for the France international and will not allow Tchouameni to return until he is considered completely ready.

Two absences from Liverpool's squad for the 2-2 draw at Newcastle drew the obvious questions. Federico Chiesa and Harvey Elliott were left out, and when players on the margins disappear at this stage of the window, people ****** ume a transfer is around the corner. Sometimes they are right. Sometimes it is simpler than that.
Andoni Iraola gave a clear answer on both cases before Liverpool's meeting with Nottingham Forest. On Chiesa, the issue is physical. On Elliott, it is selection. Those are different problems, and they carry very different implications.
Iraola said: "Fede is not available. In the game against Como he felt something in his back.
"With Harvey and some of the players, I can only choose 20. Harvey is trying and improving every week but I still prefer other options, about the balance on the bench.

Real Madrid rose to the top of the La Liga table on Wednesday after recording a 4-1 victory over Real Sociedad at the Bernabeu. Kylian Mbappe (x3) and Vinicius Junior got the goals for Jose Mourinho's side, who have started the new campaign with back-to-back wins.
It was not a vintage performance from Real Madrid – as Mourinho himself made clear after the match – but in the end, they did more than enough. As per Diario AS, captain Federico Valverde spoke to RMTV to dissect proceedings at the Bernabeu, and on the whole, he was happy as the squad's leader.
"I saw the team switched on, with a lot of desire. We lacked patience when we scored the first goal, to have the ball and hold on to the result. The talk at half-time did us good and the second half was spectacular. (At half time) we emphasised the pressure. We adjusted it and in the second half we were much more comfortable."
Valverde also spoke glowingly on Mbappe. He set up the Frenchman for his opening goal of the night, and he is clear that he and his teammates must continue to feed him chances, as that is how Real Madrid will score a lot of goals.
"We have to enjoy Mbappé. We have to give him a thousand ******* so that he scores a lot of goals, is comfortable and feels happy. What he has done today he has done throughout the year."

Juventus will welcome Parma to the Allianz Stadium in their next match, with the Bianconeri targeting all three points against a Parma side that has lost some of its key figures during this transfer window.
However, that does not mean Parma will be an easy team to face, and Juventus have two injury concerns ahead of the game, apart from Kenan Yildiz, who could be out for a long time.
The Bianconeri believe they have a squad capable of winning matches even when some players are unavailable, and they will expect the rest of the team to step up when Parma visit the Allianz Stadium.
Juventus have been preparing for the match, and Tuttomercatoweb reveals that the team trained without Federico Gatti and Jeff Ekhator during their latest session, with both players instead working individually on personalised programmes.
Gatti was injured by a fan during the pre-season game against Juventus' Next Gen when a pitch invasion disrupted the match. The incident left the defender dealing with an injury, and he is now working to regain his fitness.

In the latest Transfer DealSheet for The Athletic, which was published this morning, James Pearce ****** sed which players could viably leave Liverpool over the coming week.
He wrote that 'the future is uncertain' for Federico Chiesa and Harvey Elliott after both were omitted from Andoni Iraola's matchday squad for the 2-2 draw at Newcastle on Sunday, having also stated after the game on Tyneside that 'it would be no surprise' if that duo were to depart.
