NEW YORK (AP) — Bob Mackie, the fashion designer whose visually provocative Hollywood style defined glamour for the 1970s — including putting Carol Burnett in some of her kookiest getups and Cher in her raciest ones — died Monday. He was 87.
"He lived his 87 years to the fullest, fulfilling his dream of being a Fashion and Costume Designer, which is all he ever wanted to do," a read statement on his social media accounts. "His genius and extraordinary designs will live on forever, continuing to bring beauty into this world."
Dubbed the "Designer to the Stars," Mackie won nine Emmy Awards, a Tony Award and was nominated for three Oscars, including one for Barbra Streisand's "Funny Lady," in which she wore a sheer batwing gown. He was inducted into the Academy of Television Arts & Science's Hall of Fame in 2002.
He designed gowns for Madonna, Barbra Streisand, Sharon Stone, Diana Ross and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and concert costumes for Pink. When Marilyn Monroe delivered a breathy, seductive take on "Happy Birthday" at a fundraiser for President John F. Kennedy and the Democratic National Committee, she did it in a sheer, beaded gown that Mackie dreamed up in a sketch.
His influence can be seen in the styles of Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid. His archival pieces are worn today by the likes of Anya Taylor-Joy, Miley Cyrus and Zendaya, the latter who wore a Mackie gown to honor Cher at the 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The beginning of the Washington Commanders' season is not for the weak. NEW DELHI: Social media has found a fun new way to bring the 1980s back, with AI turning modern-day pictures into vintage portraits. The trend has now reached the Indian cricket team, with several players enjoying a hilarious surprise ahead of their T20I series against Afghanistan in Delhi.
Two days before the series, the Indian players gathered at their hotel for a photo session. But before it began, they found a table filled with AI-generated pictures of themselves.

The portraits, featured in a video shared by the BCCI, showed the players in classic 1980s looks, complete with bell-bottom jeans, big sunglasses and retro hairstyles.

Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn is beloved by his players. Whether it was during his time as a position coach, defensive coordinator, or now in his second tenure as an NFL head coach, Quinn is loved and respected across the NFL.
There's a reason why you hear other prominent players on rival teams express their love and respect for Quinn, such as Micah Parsons. Most recently, Quinn has taken a special interest in Washington's first-round pick, linebacker Sonny Styles. During training camp, Quinn referenced a conversation he had with Styles about making mistakes.
"We're chasing hard to have absolute elite execution," Quinn said last month. "I also recognize there are gonna be mistakes, and I want them to happen when you're working right on the edge of something; you're going to make them. Last night in New York City, the Kering Foundation held its fifth annual Caring for Women dinner in the midst of New York Fashion Week. Co-hosted by founders (and spouses) Salma Hayek and François-Henri Pinault, the event raises money to end gender-based violence, and it's become one of the starriest fundraisers of September—as well as a ****** e where the stars can get a bit daring with their looks.
This year, one of the most memorable ensembles of the night came courtesy of Pamela Anderson. Days after making a statement in a bright orange dress at the amfAR Gala Venezia, the queen of makeup-free red-carpet appearances turned heads again in an elegant all-black look that exuded classic Hollywood bombshell glamour.

Anderson—who often styles herself—wore a sleek design from Gucci by Demna. The high-neck dress featured a semi-sheer, jersey-style fabric that cloaked The Naked Gun actor, leaving a few bare bits of skin thanks to a cutout around back, and a high slit that ran up the side of the skirt, exposing one of her legs. Anderson has never been afraid to bring a bit of ****** iness to the carpet.

McCain is now a regular rotational player on the Thunder, the team that Westbrook is most known for. It is a bit of a full-circle moment for McCain because he learned a lot from Westbrook over the years.

After watching his team win the Outrigger Invitational last weekend, Hawaii women's volleyball coach Joshua Walker pointed to the mental aspect of the game more than the physical.
"We have a smart team," Walker said. "All these teams we played this past weekend were very different styles. Our ability to adapt quickly, learn quickly and be able to execute was very impressive."
The Rainbow Wahine improved to 4-2 for the season without their leading hitter, Cha'lei Reid, who averaged 3.00 kills in her first three matches before being sidelined with a shoulder injury.
Senior outside hitter Panna Ratkai, who competes with Reid for playing time when Reid is in on the left side, stepped up in her absence.
She averaged 4.00 kills per set among her 52 in the tournament and was named the Old Trapper Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
