The recent entry of Elon Musk's ******* eX (SPCX) into public markets has garnered investment interest on Capitol Hill, with half a dozen lawmakers taking stakes in the company, according to recently disclosed transactions.
The first apparent purchase came from Rep. Lisa McClain, a Republican and member of House Speaker Mike Johnson's leadership team. Her husband purchased between $100,000 and $250,000 in Musk's xAI in December 2025, before it was folded into ******* eX in February, giving the lawmaker and her family early exposure to the public debut on June 12.
SpaceX's initial public offering then saw five more lawmakers make purchases, according to the disclosures.
Rep. John James, a Michigan Republican, was first in as his wife bought between $15,000 and $50,000 worth of stock on the day of the IPO.
Three more GOP lawmakers — Rep. Daniel Meuser of Pennsylvania, William Timmons of South Carolina, and John McGuire of Virginia — obtained shares three days later.

"From Cedar Hill to Texas Tech – it's a beautiful thing!" Deion Sanders Jr. posted on X, tagging Joey McGuire. "I asked Coach for help expanding; he told me I could come record at Texas Tech during spring workouts and etc… I never got around to it, but thank you for always looking out for me since I was 14."
Joey McGuire wasn't simply another coach offering a favor to Deion Sanders' oldest son. He has known the Sanders family for well over a decade. Before he arrived in Lubbock, the 54-year-old coach built Cedar Hill High School into one of Texas's powerhouse football programs during a remarkable 14-year run that produced three state championships.
During that stretch, Joey McGuire coached Deion Sanders Jr. as a freshman in 2009 before he transferred schools. The football partnership lasted only one season, but the relationship never disappeared. Today, Bucky is best known as the driving force behind Well Off Media, the behind-the-scenes platform that has become almost inseparable from the Sanders family brand.
It started as a YouTube channel where Deion Sanders Jr. filmed everyday life around his family. Now it's much bigger than that. Well Off Media has grown into a major name in college football content. It's no longer just practice clips and locker-room videos. Curt Cignetti doesn't smile or laugh a lot along the sideline, with his fists often attached to his hips. But not many college football fans can work up a great hatred for him.
The national champion Indiana football coach joined the "Up and Adams" podcast, and host Kay Adams jokingly scolded him for place eighth on a recent survey of hated college football coaches.
Cignetti offered a potential reason: "Maybe I'm so cuddly and likable."
The Rotowire poll of fans listed LSU's Lane Kiffin as the most hated coach. Also "more hated" are Colorado's Deion Sanders, Clemson's Dabo Swinney, USC's Lincoln Riley, Ohio State's Ryan Day, Georgia's Kirby Smart and Miami's Mario Cristobal.
Cignetti is apparently slightly more hated than North Carolina's Bill Belichick and Texas Tech's Joey McGuire.

Texas Tech drew quite a bit of ire from the wider college football world over its handling of the Brendan Sorsby situation this offseason.
The transfer quarterback addition was ruled permanently ineligible after he admitted to placing more than $90,000 in sports bets, including wagers on his own team during his time at Indiana. He later sued the NCAA and received an injunction to play this fall.
The Red Raiders initially supported Sorsby's efforts, but as the Big 12 threatened legal action against the school, Sorsby ultimately left the program and withdrew his lawsuit. Speaking to CBS Sports' Richard Johnson at Big 12 media days this week, coach Joey McGuire said he may have acted differently had he been able to foresee the response to the Sorsby saga.
"If I would have been able to have a crystal ball and see in the future, as far as would they have had a supplemental draft, I would have probably said (earlier), 'Brendan, let's don't do this. Go to the supplemental draft,'" McGuire said.
McGuire acknowledged that the backlash from other universities in the Big 12 was stronger than expected, and he also said Texas Tech likely wouldn't have added Sorsby in the first place were it not for the fact that Will Hammond, a backup who started two games last season, was recovering from a torn ACL.

Henry Adam completed an incredible seventh-inning comeback by hammering a 1-1 pitch from Brennan McGuire over the fence in dead center for a walk-off grand slam, lifting Pekin to a thrilling 6-4 win over Keota on Tuesday night in the Class 1A, District 14 semifinals. The Panthers scored five runs in the final inning with two outs, erasing the 4-1 lead that the Eagles carried into the bottom of the seventh.
Pekin (17-3) heads to Moravia for the Class 1A, District 14 championship game on Saturday. The Mohawks earned a 1-0 lead over the Panthers back on May 27.

One of the NFL’s most dominant wide receivers over the past decade has been former Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill. Hill built his reputation on extraordinary speed, elite acceleration, and ultra-reliable hands. His trajectory became clear during his rookie season, and at one point, he appeared well on his way to a future enshrinement in Canton, Ohio.
However, few could have imagined his career taking such a dramatic turn just four weeks into the 2025 NFL season. Hill suffered a gruesome knee injury that not only put his 2026 season in doubt but also sparked serious speculation that his career could be in jeopardy.

A recent report from NFL insider James Palmer revealed that Hill underwent surgery to repair his ACL and multiple other knee ligaments after suffering a torn ACL and dislocated knee in Week 4 of the 2025 season. Palmer described the possibility of Hill playing in 2026 as “wishful thinking.”
This is certainly not how Hill envisioned this chapter of his career ending. He is 32 years old and will turn 33 next year. Although he still possesses excellent hands and entered the injury with blazing speed, his age and the lengthy recovery process could diminish the traits that have made him such a special player.

Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders made the trip to Frisco Texas to rub elbows with fellow Big 12 teams and media. Sanders is joined by current Buffaloes players Julian "Juju" Lewis, Danny Scudero, Zach Atkins, Ben Finneseth, Naeten Mitchell and Cree Thomas.

Harrisburg (Pa.) Bishop McDevitt tight end prospect Zayden Smith tells Rivals he has committed to Texas Tech.
The 6-foot-5, 205-pound Smith is currently in Lubbock for his official visit and chose to play for head coach Joey McGuire and the Red Raiders over Penn State among others.
“When I came down here for the unofficial visit I liked the area and how well the coaches invited me in and how friendly they are and hospitality and everything I felt it was the right place for me,” Smith said.
“Coach McGuire, I think he’s a really cool guy. Really friendly. I think he’s a good coach, leading them to a Big 12 championship last year.”
Over the last two seasons Smith turned 56 receptions into 810 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also has 67 tackles and four interceptions.

No football program in the country has been under the spotlight more this offseason than Texas Tech. The Red Raiders have a little bit of closure with the Brendan Sorsby saga and are moving on to build the best roster they can for the future.
The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reports that the school has received a 2027 commitment from Hunter Haug, a four-star safety who is playing his high school football for Smithson Valley in-state.
It's be interesting to see how the Red Raiders and head coach Joey McGuire use Haug once he gets to campus after his high school career ends. He posted 57 tackles and two forced fumbles as a defensive back, but has also been a weapon on offense.
Haug recorded 1,156 yards and 16 touchdowns on offense for Smithson Valley in 2025.

The Brendan Sorsby drama has been one of the main tunes floating around college football’s airwaves in recent weeks. Despite past gambling violations that were cited against Sorsby by the NCAA, which ruled Sorsby ineligible to play in 2026 with Texas Tech, a Lubbock judge recently granted Texas Tech’s signal-caller a temporary injunction against the ruling.
What comes next, according to Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian?
Per his sense of humor noted in Sports Illustrated, Sarkisian said, “[Given] the way these injunctions are going, Pat Mahomes might be playing quarterback for Texas Tech again before [Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire is] done.”
